Balayya launches Arogya Radham in Hindupur

1

TDP MLA from Hindupur, Nandamuri Balakrishna, launched Arogya Radham, a mobile clinic, in his constituency. He spent over Rs 40 lakh from his own pocket to get the vehicle ready. The vehicle would have first aid treatment and some testing labs.

The vehicle goes around his assembly constituency, providing basic health care to the people, free of cost. He had offered to provide quality treatment to the people as a gesture. Given the poor health infrastructure available in Hindupur, it is for sure the vehicle will fetch him one more victory in the 2024 general elections.

Quite interestingly, his son-in-law and former minister Nara Lokesh, too had started a mobile clinic and two primary health care centres in Mangalagiri Assembly constituency in Guntur district. Though Lokesh had lost the 2019 general elections, he is still there in the constituency meeting people frequently.

The in-laws are busy providing basic health care assistance to the people in their respective constituencies, 15 months ahead of the next elections. Balakrishna had been representing the constituency for the two consecutive terms. He had won for the first time in the 2014 elections and repeated the victory in the 2019 elections.

Hindupur had been the fortress of the NTR family since 1985. Late NTR had won from here for three consecutive elections, followed by his son Nanadamuri Harikrishna in 1996. Later, for three elections, the Nandamuri family did not contest the elections. It was only in 2014, Balakrishna entered here and won the seat.

Balayya Babu to sit on a dharna in Hindupur

0

YS Jagan Government’s decision to keep Puttaparthi as the district headquarters for the proposed Hindupur district has forced actor-MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna enter the fray. Balayya Babu is all set to lead a massive rally and then launch a protest fast on Friday in Hndupur. This has become a new headache for the YSRCP.

On Friday, Balayya Babu will sit on Dharna in Hindupur demanding that Hinduput be made the district headquarters instead of Puttaparthi. Balayya would address an all-party meeting and then sit on dharna. A massive ally is also being organised as part of the protest programme.

The people of Hindupur, cutting across political parties, are demanding that Hindupur instead of Puttaparthi be made the headquarters. They are questioning the rationale of making Puttaparthi as the headquarter town. They are pointing out that Hindpur is the headquarter of the Lok sabha constituency and it should naturally be the district headquarters too.

Balayya Babu has categorically said that he would not rest till the government rescinds its decision and changes the headquarters from Puttaparthi to Hindupur. With Balayya Babu joining the dharna, it is likely that pressure is going to be built on the government.

Will Hindupur prove lucky for YSRCP at least in 2024?

1

Hindupur assembly seat in Anantapuram has always been the YSRCP’s Achilles’ Heel. The party tried every trick of the trade, but could not win. In fact, this seat was represented initially by NTR and later by Nandamuri Balakrishna. But, since at least 2004, one of the main reasons for the TDP victory is the infighting in the Congress first and the YSRCP later.

In 2004, Congress candidate Navin Nischal gave a tough fight. In 2009, the Congress did not give him the ticket. So, he became a rebel and fought as an independent. Navin Nishcal stood second and the Congress third. In the later developments, Navin joined the YSRCP and contested in 2014. He was unlucky again as he was pitted against Balakrishna. In the 2019 elections, the YSRCP gave the ticket to Iqbal. Though Navin did not oppose it openly, he ensured that the YSRCP did not win. So, NBK had won again.

The YSRCP in Hindupur is divided into three factions – former MLA Abdul Ghani faction, Navin faction and Iqbal faction. After the 2019 elections, YS Jagan made Iqbal, who was defeated in 2019, as an MLC. Navin began sulking and kept aloof from party activities. It is clear that the YSRCP can win from Hindupur only when the Navin and Iqbal factions come together. Otherwise, the anti-TDP votes get divided and NBK will scrape through.

Now with the 2024 elections in mind, Jagan has given a corporation chairperson’s post to Navin Nischal. Now that Iqbal is an MLC, it is likely that only Navin will be in the fray. Will all the three factions come together and fight the election unitedly? Will both Ghani and Iqbal work for Navin, who betrayed them in 2014? The politics are heating up in Hindupur already as there is a likelihood of Lokesh Babu becoming TDP candidate in the event of NBK opting out.

Don’t take our patience as a weakness: Balakrishna tells Jagan

0

Actor-MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna asked the Jagan Reddy government what would happened if the TDP cadres revolted during Hindupur protests. Balakrishna asked what would have happened if he had given one gesture to the 1,000 strong TDP crowd when just 20 YCP cadres were creating problems. He said that a very intolerable, vicious political culture is going on. The whole world is laughing at the state.

Balakrishna warned the Jagan Reddy government not to take their patience and peaceful coexistence as their weakness. He said that the people are very unhappy and they will surely revolt against the oppressive, cruel governance.

Balakrishna recalled how NTR projected the culture of Telugu people as one of pride and self-respect but now these people are losing their prestige in front of others. It’s becoming a bigger challenge for TDP leaders to face YCP attacks. The police are not stopping YCP mobs but they are filing cases against TDP leaders if they respond to ruling party attacks.

Balakrishna’s Hindupur visit creates tensions

0

Actor-MLA Balakrishna faced angry YCP protesters during his current visit to his Hindupur assembly segment. The YCP leaders raised slogans of Rayalaseema Drohi (meaning Seema Traitor) against the NTR Son. Agitated at this, the TDP activists and Balakrishna fans picked up a confrontation with the ruling party leaders.

As this created tensions, the local police arrived on the spot and tried to disperse the mobs. Despite this, the YCP leaders continued raising slogans against Balakrishna over the TDP opposition to Kurnool Capital City. The ruling party has been holding protest rallies all over Rayalaseema to embarrass the main opposition on the issue of 3 Capitals Bill.

Balakrishna remained silent and avoided immediate confrontation with the YCP leaders there. The TDP leaders are under heavy pressure in Seema region because of the provocative propaganda of the YCP leaders. YCP is making all out efforts to instigate the Seema sentiment against the Opposition parties.
