Huzurabad result not of much significance: KTR

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday said that the result of by-election to Huzurabad Assembly seat is of not much significance or consequence.

KTR was reacting to the defeat of TRS candidate G. Srinivas Yadav at the hands of former minister Eatala Rajender, who contested on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP wrested Huzurabad seat as Rajender defeated Yadav by a margin of over 22,000 votes.

“In the last 20 years TRS has seen many highs and lows & this one election result will not be of much significance or consequences,” tweeted KTR, who is also minister for industry, information technology, municipal administration and urban development.

KTR complimented Srinivas Yadav for a spirited fight and appealed to all TRS workers to “work with increased resolve to forge ahead in future battles.”

The TRS leader thanked and applauded the ‘tireless’ efforts of ministers Harish Rao, Koppula Eshwar and Gangula Kamalakar, all the MLAs and TRS party leaders and cadre who toiled hard in Huzurabad. “Also would like to thank the social media warriors who’ve been relentless in campaign,” added KTR, son of Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

KTR’s Paris tour: Is it dedication or escapism?

1

Telangana IT and industries minister K.T.Rama Rao is busy touring Paris at a time when TRS is fighting a do-or-die battle in Huzurabad Assembly bypoll.

As a minister hailing from Undivided Karimnagar district in which Huzurabad Assembly constituency falls, KTR was expected to be present at least in Telangana if not in Karimnagar district when the crucial polling will be held on October 30.

Not just a minister, he is also the TRS working president and an MLA representing Siricilla constituency, which is in the neighborhood of Huzurabad.

While the polling is on October 30, KTR left for Paris on October 27.

He will return from Paris only after polling on October 30.

Why did KTR visit Paris just before crucial Huzurabad bypoll polling?

KTR’s supporters in TRS claim that he went to Paris to participate in a global business event and promote investments in Telangana.

They say it reflects KCR’s sincerity and dedication towards his job as IT and industries minister and also towards Telangana.

They say KTR gives more importance to the development of Telangana than his political interests or party’s interests.

But his critics say KTR went to Paris to escape from his responsibility of ensuring victory for TRS in the bypoll.

They say KTR knew that TRS will lose bypoll and for that reason he avoided campaigning in Huzurabad all these days and now he left even Telangana and India on the polling day to send a message that he was no way connected with bypoll and he should not be held responsible for defeat. Only Harish Rao has led party’s campaign in Huzurabad and he should be held accountable for the poll outcome.

KTR leaves for Paris to address ‘Ambition India Business Forum’

0

Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday left for France to address the ‘Ambition India Business Forum’.

He will deliver the keynote address at the business event scheduled to be held on October 29, at the French Senate in Paris.

KTR is leading a delegation that includes Principal Secretary, IT and Industries, Jayesh Ranjan and other officials.

This is KTR’s first visit abroad since Covid-19 pandemic broke out last year.

He will also meet French industrialists and CEOs of various companies to invite investments to Telangana.

The French government invited the minister to address the Forum.

Ambassador of France Emmanuel Lenain had sent a letter to the minister a few days ago. “We believe it creates a great momentum between France and India and would provide a good occasion to promote the State of Telangana. I would hence like to invite you to participate in person in Ambition India 2021, as a keynote speaker after the roundtable ‘Growth: Drafting the future of Indo-French relations in a post-Covid era’,” the ambassador wrote.

“It would be an honour for us to welcome you at the French Senate and organise high-level meetings for you with the French investors,” he added.

KTR had expressed happiness over receiving the invitation and stated that this would be a great global platform to highlight the investment opportunities existing in Telangana.

As part of the Forum, there will be several round tables on doing business in India, healthcare, climate, digital transformation as well as agribusiness. B2B meetings between French and Indian companies are also scheduled during the event.

The business event organised under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron aims to foster trade and investment relations between France and India. It enables companies to be aware of the challenges of the Indian market as well as learn more about investment opportunities through updates on the Indian government’s economic policies and regulatory specificities.

During the previous Ambition India edition, the Forum hosted 700 participants virtually, spread over two sessions with more than 400 companies online, eager to know more about bilateral cooperation.

Is KTR snooping on his political rivals?

0

The tone and tenor of TRS working president and IT minister K.T.Rama Rao indicates that he is snooping on his political rivals.

KTR declared that he had obtained photographs of a ‘secret meeting’ between Huzurabad BJP candidate Etela Rajender and TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy.

KTR is threatening that he will make those pictures public if Etela and Revanth condemn his charges and state that they never met.

KTR is claiming that Revanth and Etela met at Golkonda Resorts in city and has all the evidence in support of his claims. KTR is alleging that Congress and BJP have colluded to defeat TRS in Huzurabad Assembly bypoll on October 30.

However, Etela is challenging KTR that he never met Revanth after he joined BJP and he met leaders of all parties from May 2 to June 12 when KCR ousted him from his cabinet and before he joined BJP on June 12.

He met all his friends in political circles irrespective of pirates only to seek their suggestions on his political future and in the process he even met Revanth.

Etela questioned is Congress a banned organisation or is Revanth a terrorist or extremist and what’s wrong in meeting any leader be it Congress or any other party.

KTR had earlier released audio of Revanth Reddy in which he was heard saying Congress MP Shashi Tharoor as ‘donkey’ which created ripples in political circles.

Revanth who initially denied making those comments was forced to admit and apologise after KTR released the audio.

Now, TRS and KTR’s political rivals fear KTR snooping on his rivals and conducting sting operations on them to record audios and videos.

If not where from KTR is getting photos, audios and videos of their secret meetings, they wonder.

KTR taunts BJP MLA over petrol price after he throws a challenge

1

A war of words broke out between Telangana’s Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao and BJP MLA Raja Singh on Twitter.

The Minister taunted the BJP MLA over the hike in petrol, diesel and LPG prices after the latter challenged him to take ride with him on his motorbike to have firsthand experience of the development in his Goshamahal constituency and the old city.

“Why don’t you go to petrol bunk & find out what people are saying about hike in Petrol & Diesel prices? Also stop at a household & enquire with them on how LPG cylinder prices are going up?,” Rama Rao tweeted.

“GDP Gas, Diesel, Petrol Suna Hi Hoga? Ab Yeh Jhumle bandh Karo, Kaam se Dil Jeeto,” added KTR, as the minister is popularly known.

He was responding to the BJP MLA’s tweet and video statement of October 16.

“KTR Ji let’s take a ride on my bullet across Goshamal Constituency and old city you will have the 1st hand experience of the development that happened. What say?,” Singh had tweeted.

The BJP MLA, in his video statement, challenged the Minister for a ride to draw his attention the problem of water logging on roads whenever it rains.

Referring to KTR’s statements in the State Assembly that there is no dearth of money to take up works and the development in the old city, Singh said during every rain in the city the drains overflow and water enter houses and shops, causing huge losses to people.

The BJP legislator said instead of speaking in the Assembly if the minister come out and see the roads he would know the ground situation.

BJP, Congress colluding in Huzurabad bypoll: KTR

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are colluding in the upcoming by-elections in Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

He claimed that the Congress party fielded a ‘dummy’ candidate, who is a non-local, only to benefit the BJP.

While speaking to the media, Rao said the two parties had joined hands in Huzurabad like they had done in Nizamabad and Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituencies during the 2019 elections.

The BJP and the Congress had colluded in these two constituencies leading to the defeat of the TRS. Both the Lok Sabha constituencies were won by the BJP, he added.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, exuded confidence that despite the conspiracy of the Congress and the BJP, the TRS would win the Huzurabad bypoll scheduled on October 30.

He challenged state Congress President A. Revanth Reddy to save the deposit of his party candidate in Huzurabad. He wondered why the Congress leader was not campaigning in the bypoll.

KTR also announced that he would not campaign for the bypoll and said he had not campaigned in Dubbaka and Nagarjuna Sagar bypolls. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s tour to the Assembly constituency was not yet finalised.

KTR reiterated that Huzurabad bypoll is a minor election for the TRS. He said the victory of TRS was not news for the media as it was accustomed to the series of election victories of the TRS since 2018 Assembly polls.

The TRS would clearly win the Huzurabad seat, he added. “We defeated a senior leader like Congress veteran Jana Reddy in Nagarjuna Sagar bypoll. Is BJP’s Eatala Rajender a bigger leader than Jana Reddy,” he asked.

Rajender is contesting the bypoll as a BJP candidate. He resigned from the TRS and the Huzurabad Assembly seat after he was dropped from state Cabinet following allegations of land grabbing.

KTR said Rajender was not telling people why he resigned. He also claimed that Rajender and the BJP have not accepted each other.

TRS leaders to study organisational structure of DMK, AIADMK

0

A delegation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders led by working president K.T. Rama Rao will visit Tamil Nadu after November 15 to study the strong organisational structure of DMK and AIADMK.

Rama Rao revealed this during an informal chat with reporters here on Tuesday.

He said since both the DMK and AIADMK survived for generations in Tamil Nadu, the TRS has decided to study their model.

TRS, which completed two decades recently, plans to further strengthen the organisation after studying the model of the two parties in Tamil Nadu.

Rama Rao said regional parties surviving for two decades was a great thing.

He pointed out that in the undivided Andhra Pradesh only two political parties — TDP founded by N.T. Rama Rao in 1982 and the TRS by Chandrasekhar Rao in 2001 — were there.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, said when two MPs of DMK called on him in Hyderabad recently he had a preliminary discussion with them on the organisational structure of their party.

The DMK MPs had met KTR to hand over a letter written by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to seek his support to the demand to abolish National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), the national exam for admission to medical courses.

KTR, who is a son of KCR, said they may not agree 100 per cent with Stalin over the demand to abolish NEET.

Pointing out that students from Telangana are pursuing MBBS in other states, he said a decision on the issue will be taken keeping in view the interests of the state students.

Replying to a query, he said KCR’s entry into national politics will be at an appropriate time.

He claimed that KCR prepared many leaders. He described KCR as a ‘visionary’ and remarked that leaders of other parties are ‘tele-visionaries’

On groupism within the party in various constituencies, KTR said this reflected the ‘party’s strength’. He was confident that the party would overcome all the problems.

He said he would convey the feedback received during the meetings with constituency-level leaders to KCR.

He revealed that 10 sets of nominations were filed so far on behalf of KCR for the election to party president. He said around 6,500 members of the TRS would elect the next president of TRS at the party plenary on October 25.

The TRS leader said arrangements were on for the grand public meeting at Warangal on November 15 to mark two decades of the party and to highlight the progress made by Telangana during the last seven years.

He said after the November 15 meeting, the TRS would organise training classes right from ministers to ward level leaders. The training classes would continue for nine months across the state.

Stalin seeks KCR’s support for demand to abolish NEET

0

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has sought the support of his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the demand to abolish NEET, the national exam for admission to medical courses.

Stalin is reaching out to non-BJP chief ministers over the demand from the Centre to abolish National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).

Two MPs of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Wednesday called on Telangana minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao and handed over to him the letter written by Stalin to Chandrasekhar Rao.

MPs T.K.S. Elangovan and Kalanidhi Veeraswamy met Rama Rao, who is also the son of the chief minister and urged him to back DMK’s stand over the issue.

The MP said keeping in view the future of students, they were demanding abolition of NEET. He claimed that TRS leader responded positively to their request for support over the issue

Elangovan said NEET exam was affecting the students of the states. “We built infrastructure for medical colleges and pay salaries to professors but NEET deprives our students from getting admissions in the same colleges,” he said

Stating that is against federal setup, the MP demanded that education should be brought back to state list instead of concurrent list. “We are talking to chief ministers of all opposition parties in the country in this regard. The attempts by Centre to take away rights of the states need to be stopped and we have to raise our voice strongly,” he said.

TRS MP Ranjith Reddy said the DMK MPs discussed the issue in detail with Rama Rao.

Stalin demanded NEET abolition after three NEET aspirants from Tamil Nadu died by suicide last month. He is reaching out to non-BJP chief ministers to mobilize support for the demand.

Is this why KTR is not campaigning in Huzurabad bypoll?

0

Everyone knows how important Huzurabad bypoll is. It is in fact a game-changer and a BJP win could change the whole complexion of Telangana politics. Both the BJP and the TRS are pitting every resource at their command to win the election. But where is KTR in such an all-important battle? This question is being asked not just in Huzurabad but also across the state.

Interestingly KTR is not even remotely involved in the elections in Huzurabad though his constituency is very close by. Even party MLAs and ministers are involved, but not KTR. His absence has now become a topic of discussion. Interestingly, except for Huzurnagar bypoll in Nalgonda district, KTR did not campaign in any other bypoll. Though he campaigned in some places in the GHMC elections, all those seats were lost. Sources say that he was listed as the star campaigner of the party in most bypolls, but he did not go for the campaign. When asked, he recently said that there was no need for him to campaign as Harish Rao was taking care of everything.

On the other hand, Harish Rao is seen everywhere. He, in fact, is leading the charge on behalf of the TRS. He is planning strategies, meeting people, holding meetings and is undertaking house-to-house contact. Other ministers like Gangula Kamalakar and Koppula Eswar have receded to the background. It is almost Harish vs Eatala in Huzurabad. Sources in the party say that KCR wants to shield KTR from the failure and criticism before the 2023 elections. This will help him in fight with a clean slate in 2023, sources say. It is because of this that KTR was not fielded in Huzurabad despite being listed as the star campaigner.

Who is star campaigner for TRS? Is it KCR or KTR?

0

The TRS is fighting a bitter political battle with the BJP in the upcoming Huzurabad bypoll scheduled to be held on October 30.

The TRS has submitted a list of its 20 star campaigners to the Election Commission of India (ECI) which includes TRS president and Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, his son KT Rama Rao and nephew T.Harish Rao and few other ministers, party MLAs, MLCs and other senior leaders.

All the star campaigners except KCR and KTR are already undertaking hectic campaigning in Huzurabad for the past two months.

But KCR and KTR are yet to launch their campaign in Huzurabad.

While KCR campaigned for TRS in Nagarjunasagar Assembly bypoll in April this year, KTR and Harish Rao skipped.

This time, KCR is expected to skip Huzurabad campaigning because the Election Commission did not give permission for KCR to hold a huge public meeting with thousands of people in Huzurabad citing Covid norms.

The EC made it clear that only 1,000 people will be allowed for public meetings by star campaingers.

KCR reportedly feels that addressing just 1,000 people in a public meeting will not match his stature and therefore he wants to avoid it.

He instead wants KTR to campaign as star campaigner in Huzurabad on his behalf after Dasara.

KTR lends helping hand to tribal girl struggling to pursue MBBS

0

Telangana Industry and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao has come forward to provide financial support to a tribal girl who was struggling financially to complete her medicine course.

Anusha, who hails from Borabanda area of Hyderabad, is pursuing her MBBS course from a medical college in Kyrgyzstan. She has scored 95 per cent marks in first, second, and third year MBBS.

She returned to Hyderabad last year during the Covid pandemic and has been facing challenges to complete her course due to the financial crisis.

To make ends meet, Anusha had even started selling vegetables along with her mother in Borabanda. After learning about the plight of the girl’s family, Rama Rao decided to extend help.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, wished Anusha all the best and said that they would like to see her as a doctor soon.

Anusha’s family members thanked the minister for his support.

KTR commends traffic policemen who issued challan on his vehicle

0

Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday commended two traffic policemen for imposing a fine on his car for a traffic rule violation.

Two days after the policemen – Sub-Inspector of Police Ilaiah and constable Venkateshwarlu – issued a ‘challan’ for the minister’s vehicle for plying on the direction, he called them to his office to expressed his appreciation by presenting them bouquets and shawls in the presence of Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar.

The Minister, who is also son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, appreciated the policemen for discharging their duties sincerely and assured that he will always stand by such officers.

Stating that he will always be in forefront in obeying traffic rules, he clarified that he was not in the vehicle when it was fined for traffic rule violation. He also paid the fine imposed.

KTR, as the minister is popularly called, said rules are same for all whether they are general public or public representatives in power. He said he congratulated the traffic policemen to convey right message to his party workers and leaders.

The policemen imposed fine on KTR’s vehicle when it was being driven in the wrong direction near Bapu Ghat under the limits of Langar Houz police station on October 2. This happened when the minister was about to leave Bapu Ghat after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi along with Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Home Minister Mahmood Ali.

As the road was blocked due to the movement of the Governors’ convoys, the driver of KTR’s vehicle took the wrong route to reach Bapu Ghat. The policemen stopped the vehicle and this reportedly led to an argument between them and some TRS leaders. Some police officers reportedly clarified that the policemen who stopped the vehicle did not know that it belong to the minister.

The incident also triggered debate on social media with many netizens praising the policemen for discharging their activity and criticized those who raised an objection and entered into an argument with them.

Siricilla Collectorate Complex ruins KTR’s image!

2

TRS working president and IT minister K.T.Rama Rao always makes tall claims about KCR’s government’s achievements in the last seven year both inside and outside the Legislative Assembly.

He often gives build-up as if Telangana people never witnessed any development before TRS came to power in 2014 and all development happened in Telangana only after TRS came to power in 2014.

But a look at the pathetic condition of the brand new Collectorate Complex in Siricilla exposes not just TRS government’s failures but also that of KTR.

Siricilla Assembly constituency is represented by none other KTR since 2008.

A new Collectorate Complex spread over 94 acres was built at a cost of Rs 65 crore in Sircilla which was inaugurated recently by his father, Telangana CM KCR in July.

Such was the poor planning that KTR opted for a site for this building which is in the bed of a tank called Ragudu tank.

In case of heavy rains, there is no provision to drain water. There is no drainage system or flood water management system. With this, the building is drowning in flood water every time there is heavy rain. This building got inundated five times since it was inaugurated three months ago in July.

Worse still is, Siricilla collector and staff in the building complex were stranded since yesterday (Monday) due to flooding.

They spent whole night in the building with no chance to come outside as it resembled a river.

On Tuesday morning (today), flooding further increased. With this, tractors were sent inside and collector and staff were rescued from the building and shifted outside in the tractors.

The videos of Siricilla collector along with staff coming out of the building in tractors went viral on social media platforms.

Netizens trolled KTR for his tall claims in media every day and in Assembly everytime about TRS government creating world class infrastructure facilities in all district headquarters.

KTR’s defamation suit a strong message to T’gana opposition

0

By filing defamation suit against Telangana State Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy for linking him to the drugs scandal, Telangana’s cabinet minister K. T. Rama Rao has sent a clear message to the opposition leaders for their continued diatribe.

Political analysts say the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president has tried to convey to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief in clear terms that the ruling party is no longer ready to take the slander lying down.

Realising that mere war of words on Twitter and challenges and counter challenges will not be enough, Rama Rao approached the court to rein in Revanth Reddy.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, received immediate relief as the City Civil Court passed interim orders directing Revanth Reddy not to make any statement linking him to the drugs scandal.

The court passed interim injunction restraining Revanth Reddy and his agents or any person representing him from making any further derogatory, libellous or scandalous statements either by way of print or electronic media and/ or in public or in private including social media and the Internet linking KTR with the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in the drugs scandal.

According to the minister, the defamation suit is a result of various baseless, scurrilous, and manifestly false statements and allegations made against him by Revanth Reddy. He denied any links with those accused in the drugs scandal.

Liberty has also been reserved in the suit for instituting further criminal proceedings and for payment of compensatory damages for such serious and malicious acts of defamation.

KTR, son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was irked by Revanth Reddy linking him to drugs case currently being probed by the Enforcement Directorate with the questioning several Telugu film personalities this month for alleged money laundering. The Congress leaders had even branded KTR ‘brand ambassador of drugs’.

While continuing to politically counter the opposition, the TRS has made up its mind to crack the whip if opposition leaders ‘cross their limit’ by resorting to ‘baseless’ allegations against chief minister or other top leaders.

Recently, KTR also threatened that the government will not hesitate to book sedition cases against those trying to defame Telangana’s growth and belittle its achievements with false figures and allegations.

He took strong exception to some opposition leaders making statements loaded with personal abuses against the chief minister.

The state is already witnessing a sharp exchange of words, allegations and counter allegations and leaders throwing challenges at each other.

A bitter critic of the chief minister and his family, Revanth Reddy launched ‘white challenge’ apparently to put the government in a tight spot.

He challenged KTR to come forward to undergo drug tests along with him. He also threw a challenge at former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who readily accepted it and reached the venue and time announced by Revanth Reddy.

KTR, however, tried to turn tables on Revanth by stating that he is ready to give his samples for drug tests if AICC leader Rahul Gandhi also comes forward to give his samples. He also remarked that it’s below his dignity to undergo the tests with what he calls a Cherlapalli jail alumni.

He was apparently referring to Revanth Reddy’s arrest in note for vote scam of 2015.

Then a leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Revanth was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while offering Rs.50 lakh cash to a nominated MLA to make him vote for TDP candidate in elections for Legislative Council from MLAs’ quota.

Revanth later joined the Congress party and was elected to Lok Sabha in 2019 elections. A couple of months later, Congress party’s central leadership sprang a surprise by picking him for the post of TPCC president, ignoring several senior leaders and strong contenders.

Known for his aggressive brand of politics, Revanth is seen by many as someone who can revive the fortunes of the grand old party in its former stronghold.

Spearheading anti-government protests, Revanth is slamming KCR and his family members and constantly hitting the deadlines by making sweeping allegations.

A few days ago, the State Congress chief submitted a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) demanding investigation into sale of government of lands at Kondapur in Hyderabad. He claimed that the government suffered a loss of Rs.1,000 crore as the lands were sold to those close to the chief minister.

Revanth is not the only opposition leader targeting the chief minister and his family.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who took over as the state BJP president last year, is also known for not mincing any word to attack TRS supremo and his family members.

Both Congress and BJP leaders often use harsh words to lampoon KCR. For instance, they often remark that KCR always ‘sleeps’ at his farm house and doesn’t even step out even when people are in distress.

Making allegations of corruption, the BJP leader said KCR will soon go to jail for looting public money, especially thousands of crores of rupees he took as bribes from contractors in irrigation project.

Currently undertaking ‘padyatra’, he is resorting to bitter attacks on KCR. TRS leaders repeatedly warned Sanjay to mind his language while criticizing the chief minister.

A couple of leaders even used abusive language to attack each other. In the run up to ensuing by-election to Huzurabad Assembly constituency and 2023 Assembly polls, the political bickering is likely to only heat up.

While TRS leaders say opposition leaders can criticise the government and question it, the kind of language used by the opposition leaders is unacceptable.

KTR stated that the government will not hesitate to even book sedition cases against those making derogatory remarks against the chief minister.

Reacting to this, Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenged him to lodge a sedition case against him and put him behind bars. He questioned the government whether they would be charged under sedition if they questioned on promises made by the CM of giving double bedrooms for the poor, three acres of land to Dalits, job for every house, financial aid for jobless youth.

While warning the opposition leaders, KTR cites the recent arrest of union minister Narayan Rane in Maharashtra for his ‘slap’ slur against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery.

“In Maharashtra, they arrested a central minister. If you want us to do the same, we will do it,” KCR said.

KTR says derogatory words against a leader of the stature of KCR are not acceptable. “There is a limit to patience. We have told them this many times. Should we tolerate this kind of language being used against a leader who fought for and achieved Telangana state, held many positions in his long political career and who has been blessed as a two-time chief minister by the people,” Rama Rao asked.

Opposition leaders, however, argue that they have every right to criticise the chief minister and his policies.

Telangana’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to develop ‘nalas’ (drains) to avoid a flood-like situation in Hyderabad.

The minister held a review on the development and expansion works of nalas which will be taken up in the GHMC limits.

To prevent inundation in the city, GHMC officials have come up with a comprehensive programme for the development of nalas which was reviewed by KTR, as the minister is popularly known.

He stated that there was a need to strengthen the age-old nala and sewer system, keeping in mind the rapid urbanisation, and the government is working towards the same by coming up with a comprehensive nala development programme.

He noted that Hyderabad has been recording heavy to very heavy rains in recent times, and to avoid a flood-like situation in the city, the government is taking up nalas development and expansion works.

The government wants to take up these works in a well-planned manner to ensure no citizen goes through any kind of inconvenience in the future, said KTR. He added that the government will take care of the poor who get affected by these works.

He also stated that the government is also considering the allocation of 2 BHK dignity houses for the affected ones based on their eligibility.

He said the government would also come up with a law, if needed, for the development and expansion of nalas and lakes in the city.

The zonal Commissioners of the GHMC submitted a detailed report to the minister on the works taken up which include clearing obstacles in nalas, expansion of nalas, and construction of retaining walls.

The minister directed the officials to take up all these works along with the Strategic Nala Development Programme. He asked the officials to identify bottlenecks in nalas and clear them on a war footing.

A meeting will be called soon with all the MLAs from GHMC limits, he added.

Moved by the plight of a woman who was working as a sweeper despite holding a masters’ degree in science, Telangana’s Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday offered her the job of Assistant Entomologist on outsourcing basis in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

A. Rajani, who had done MSc (organic chemistry), was working as a sweeper on contract basis in the GHMC.

Responding to a report published about the woman in a leading Telugu daily, the minister offered her a job commensurate with her qualification.

Special Chief Secretary, Urban Development, Arvind Kumar, who took Rajani to the minister, revealed the job offered to her. He tweeted that orders were issued after verifying her credentials.

Rajani, who has two daughters, became emotional when the minister assured her all the support and offered her job as Assistant Entomologist in the Entomology Department.

Hailing from Warangal district, Rajani was born in a family of agriculture labourers. Despite the financial problems, she continued her studies with the support of parents and passed MSc (organic chemistry) with first grade in 2013. She had also qualified for PhD from the Hyderabad Central University but in the meantime she was married to an advocate and shifted to Hyderabad.

Rajani became mother of two but continued to appear for competitive exams to secure a job. However, the family landed into a crisis as her husband became bed-ridden due to cardiac problem. She started selling vegetables to run the family of five including her mother-in-law. As she was not making enough money, she took up the job of sweeper on contract basis in GHMC for a salary of Rs 10,000.
