YSRCP leaders are resorting to cheap politics, says Chandrababu

0

Observing that the YSRCP leaders are resorting to cheap and useless politics, former chief minister and TDP national president, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Sunday said “We will continue fair and gentle politics if the ruling party is decent or we will move ahead by crushing them.”

Paying rich tributes to the founder of the TDP, the late NT Rama Rao, on the occasion of his birth centenary, Chandarbabu Naidu recalled the services to Telugu society after floating the party. “From the street corner to Time Square in New York city, the photos of the Late NTR are on display,” the TDP supremo remarked.

Issuing a strong warning from the dais on the second and concluding day of Mahanadu to those who are subjecting to TDP cadre to harassment, Chandrababu announced that the party will always stand by the cadre. “The TDP will chase those who are now harassing the TDP leaders and cadre,” he added.

Maintaining that it is the TDP that created assets in the State, the former chief minister said that several economic reforms have been implemented during the TDP regime. Despite Rs 16,000 cr deficit budget, several welfare programmes were implemented and the pension was increased from Rs 200 to Rs 2000 while the lopan scheme too was successfully implemented, Chandrababu observed.

“I proposed Amaravathi only with the intention that the Telugu people should have an excellent capital and took up Polavaram project works only to see to it that every acre should have irrigation water supply. During my tenure 72 per cent of the project works have been completed,” the TDP supremo said.

Recalling that 16 lakh agreements were entered into with various companies and 5.50 lakh jobs were created, Chandrababu felt that this is the reason as to why the youth want the TDP back in power.

Expressing serious concern that the State is moving backwards due to the psycho rule, he said that the ruling party leaders tried to create several hurdles to Mahanadu. “The YSRCP leaders are resorting to cheap politics,” he said and added that the State suffered a lot in the YSRCP rule.

“Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has imposed a whooping Rs 5 lakh cr burden on the people in the shape of various taxes and the State is now in Rs 10 lakh cr debts,” he said. Chandrababu said that the war now is not between the poor and the rich and it is not a caste war but a cash war.

While the assets of all the Chief Ministers in the country is just Rs 510 cr, the total assets of Jagan alone is Rs 508 cr, he said and asked how did he earn so much money. “I am assuring you that these money earned through sand and liquor mafia and through settlements will be distributed to the people once the TDP is into ruling again,” Chandarbabu Naidu declared.

Observing that the State revenue has completely fallen so low due to the destructive rule, he felt that the future of the youth too is in dilemma now. The farmers too are suffering , he said, stating that the days of Jagan are numbered. “I am declaring from this Mahanadu platform that Mr Jagan will not come back to power and the State needs the TDP very badly,” he added.

Demanding Jagan’s reply on the murderof his paternal uncle, YS Vivekananda Reddy, the TDP supremo said that the YSRCP leaders alway ensure that only rowdies attend their public meetings. “It is the money power of Jagan while the TDP has the people’s strength. Our’s is a vision politics while the YSRCP’s is prison politics,” Chandrababu remarked.

The upcoming elections are a war like Kurukshetra, the TDP national president said and asked the party cadre to get ready for this. From Mahanadu, Chandrababu Naidu announced the agenda for the coming elections with several welfare programmes.

TDP gets ready for Mahanadu in Rajamahendravaram

0

The opposition TDP is ready for its two-day annual Mahanadu to be held at Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh from May 27. This would be the second Mahanadu of the party to be held in Rajamahendravaram. The first Mahanadu was held in 1993 and the party had bounced back to power in the subsequent elections held in 1994.

Party senior leaders Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, Kambhampati Rammohan Rao and the youth leader Chintakayala Ajay inspected the arrangements being made at the venue for the two-day event.

The first day would have discussions on the failures of the present government, its anti-people policies and the measures to be taken by the TDP to defeat this government. The second day would be dedicated to the resolutions and the birth centenary celebrations of party founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao on May 28.

The party held its politburo meeting in Rajamahendravaram on Friday. Party supremo and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu chaired the politburo meeting. The politburo meeting called upon the rank and file of the party to make the Mahanadu a success. The politburo meeting also cleared the schedule for the two-day Mahandu, beginning on Saturday.

The party would hold delegates meeting on May 28 and public meeting on May 28. The party is likely to announce its partial manifesto for the 2024 general election. The meeting is likely to adopt 20 resolutions of which 14 resolutions would be related to Andhra Pradesh while the rest for Telangana and the country.

The party leaders have readied 60 acres of open land for the Mahanadu venue where the party would hold deliberations and delegates meeting. Another 150 acres of open space was readied for the parking and food stalls.

Mahanadu, Times Group survey put TDP in upbeat mood

0

The mood in the opposition TDP is upbeat. There are celebrations everywhere and the voices of the TDP leaders sound victorious. There are two reasons for the change in the mood of the TDP in Andhra Pradesh. The two reasons put the party in advantage guaranteeing them a grand return of the party to power in the 2024 general elections.

The first reason for the sudden upbeat mood in the party is the grand success of the party’s Mahanadu. Even the party leaders were surprised to see the crowd at the event after the repeated defeats in the 2019 general election and the local body elections.

This success has changed the tone of the leaders who are now coming up with a firm voice against the ruling YSR Congress. Be it Chandrababu Naidu or his son Lokesh or even Atchennaidu, there is a strong warning with a firm tone coming.

The second reason is the reported survey of the Times of India media group, which was released last week. The survey is said to have been done by a Telugu website team of the Times Group, which gave a very bad rating for the ruling YSR Congress.

The survey touched on the implementation of the welfare schemes, the governance, corruption, three capitals, local MLAs performance, development of the state, debts and finally their favourite party for the 2024 elections. In every issue, the result was against the YSR Congress giving a clear edge to the TDP.

With these two reasons, the opposition TDP is now in an elated mood and is all set to be in the midst of the people in the next two years. The TDP has to sustain the mood of the people from today to the day when they go to the polling booth in April-May 2024.

Mahanadu raises TDP hopes on 2024 elections

1

The two-day annual event of Mahanadu of the opposition TDP had raised its hopes of coming back to power in the 2024 general elections. The rank and file of the TDP had made an impressive presence at the Mahanadu at Ongole, despite the mercury levels going high.

Chandrababu Naidu gave an inspiring call to the people to stand together against chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. He wanted the people to get ready to send Jagan Mohan Reddy to home by giving him a scary defeat.

The TDP chief tried to strike a balance between the welfare and development, besides giving importance to the employees. He tried to give some confidence to the employees, who are unhappy with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s governance.

The TDP chief also tried to give confidence to the farmers and asked them not to commit suicides. Rather he wanted the farmers to hang the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He promised to take care of the agriculture sector and stand by the farmers.

Chandrababu Naidu had asked the people, particularly the youth, to use social media as a platform to campaign against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He accused the chief minister of promoting faction politics in the state.

The TDP chief also listed the failures of Jagan Mohan Reddy government and wanted people to revolt against the YSR Congress. He tried to touch almost every section of the society and say that they are not happy with this regime.

Chandrababu Naidu touched his pet projects of Polavaram and Amaravati to blame the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He said that Jagan had destroyed these two projects, which he termed as the two eyes of the state.

Looking at the crowd at Mahanadu, it is clear that the TDP’s position has improved over the last three years. The party is placed better now, compared to the time when the local body elections were held.

Mahanadu Attack on BJP, what could be the Chandra Babu Naidu’s strategy for 2019

Chandrababu Naidu focused most of his attack on BJP and especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recently held TDP Mahanadu. A shrewd strategist in Naidu would not have made this attack without any political strategy .

It is a fact that the BJP is not a force to reckon with in Andhra Pradesh politics and the strength of the saffron brigade has further got eroded after Modi dispensation blatantly denied special category status . Yet, Naidu and the TDP continues to focus all its tirade on BJP and in turn desperately attempts to establish that the opposition YSR Congress and even Pawan Kalyan are acting at the behest of BJP leadership .

To understand Naidu’s strategy in the run up to 2019, one has to go to the 2014 . The TDP which suffered humiliating defeats in the by polls in 2012 at the hands of YSR Congress could make surprising comeback in 2014, thanks to the bifurcation of the state and the subsequent political climate

The major bone of contention for the bifurcation was the status of Hyderabad . The Seemandhra people strongly believed that the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh would be grossly discriminated if the capital city goes to Telangana . The feeling that Hyderabad would not be their capital infuriated Seemandhra people . The decades of emotional, physical and economic connect with the sprawling city was the reason for such an emotional reaction.

Chandrababu Naidu could rightly sense the mood of the people and promised to the electorate that he would build a capital that could be much better than Hyderabad . The fact that Naidu during his earlier dispensation as the chief minister of the united state was certainly responsible for locating the city on global information and technology map gave credence to his promise.

The sense of helplessness nurtured by all the parties to sell their narrative over the bifurcation also created feeling that they need a strong and experienced leader who enjoys the centre’s liberal support to lead them to come out of the wounds inflicted by the arbitrary bifurcation.

Chandrababu Naidu could successfully market himself to be the right choice in such a context. His alliance with Modi who was already expected to win the national mandate has further helped him.

Thus, Chandrababu Naidu through his dexterous political skill portrayed Congress as the villain of bifurcation though every other party including TDP was the votary of bifurcation .

Now , in 2019 , it is no guarantee that the same strategy of politics around bifurcation may or may not sell . Naidu was cleverly waiting for an opportunity to build a new political narrative around which he could do electioneering in 2019. The BJP’s blatant denial of what was due to Andhra Pradesh came in handy for Naidu and his party .

Even the other parties also joined in putting Modi in dock over special status and precisely here, Naidu scored over others by pulling out of NDA and the Modi ministry. For reasons not explicitly told, the Opposition YSR Congress was lukewarm in its fight over BJP. The TDP successfully exploited the vacillation in the YSR Congress camp . Thus, Chandrababu Naidu has concentrated his attack on BJP and Modi. This will also help him divert people’s attention from the possible anti-incumbency his government has to face.

To locate himself in the right national context, Naidu also used mahanadu as an opportunity to convince the electorate that TDP would play critical role in 2019 when it comes to formation of new government in New Delhi.

As the 2014 election USP was bifurcation and the Congress , Naidu’s USP for 2019 would be BJP and the denial of special status.

Nara Lokesh boasts about ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave success!

0

AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh showered praises on the ‘Mahanadu’ team for successfully hosting the ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave here in Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada. Speaking to a group of reporters, Nara Lokesh claimed that over 43,000 people have attended the ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave.
‘This is the first time such a huge crowd turned up in the history of TDP party. In comparison to the Mahanadu Conclave held in Vishakhapatnam last year, the turnout is 33% more this time around.

Despite tens of thousands of people turning up for the mega event, we made sure that no one faced any trouble. This is only possible with the TDP party, given the leadership, and the discipline it inculcates in its supporters and cadre. BJP, which has cheated Andhra Pradesh is our primary enemy. BJP is acting like oxygen for the YSRCP, which is breathing through a ventilator’, said Nara Lokesh. No wonder, ‘Mahanadu’ has turned out to be a great success, given the fact that 14 committees were appointed for the conclave. Looks like Nara Lokesh, who declares his assets annually, forgot to declare the expenditure incurred due to ‘Mahanadu’ to the exchequer.

Mahanadu is dedicated to BJP bashing

0

The three-day annual Mahanadu of the Telugu Desam Party was completely dedicated to hitting hard at the Bharatiya Janata Party and its leadership. The meet had also hurled abuses at YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, but that was limited and they were seen as part of the bigger conspiracy against the TDP by the BJP.

The Mahanadu had declared the BJP as enemy No. 1 and claimed that it would fight the next elections only against the BJP that is aligning with the YSR Congress and the Jana Sena. The event also concluded with a dream of Chandrababu Naidu emerging as the national leader and playing key role in picking up the next Prime Minister, an alternative to Narendra Modi.

The Mahaandu set the tone for elections and felt that the election is crucial for the party to continue the developmental works that they have initiated in the last four years. The party termed the 2019 elections as historical responsibility of every Telugu voter as the objective is to defeat Narendra Modi and his designs one on side and develop Andhra Pradesh on the other.

The interesting factor in this Mahanadu was that the TDP had tried its best to convince the people its differences with Narendra Modi or the BJP were for AP and not for TDP. Chandrababu Naidu also tried to convince the people who any attempt to disturb or defeat TDP is an attempt to disturb the State. He had conveniently mixed electoral politics with the developmental initiatives.

After breaking the alliance with the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu had been speaking against the Central domination on the States, a core issue of the TDP when NTR was at the helm. Chandrababu Naidu had threated to block the movement of national vehicles, take over the national highways and now threatened to stop paying Central taxes. These challenges go well with the people and that is what he is doing now.

Jaganmohan Reddy was accepted as a hero when he challenged the mighty power of Sonia Gandhi. But that heroism is now gone as he fails to do so with Narendra Modi. Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu is seen as a hero for challenging Narendra Modi, while Jaganmohan Reddy is seen as peacemaker. This image is likely to help Chandrababu Naidu in the next round of elections, if he continues to project himself as a fighting against Narendra Modi and BJP. All that he has to do is to keep up the tempo and continue to hit hard at Modi or even intensify the attack on Modi as the election time approaches fast.

What is ‘Mahanadu’ doing to the people of AP?

0

There is nothing wrong with celebrating our success. But our celebrations shouldn’t restrict us from attending our daily responsibilities, and fulfil our duties. Maybe that is not the case with TDP & Co., under the able leadership of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu Garu. With the ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave, the biggest annual celebration of TDP party, taking place in Vijayawada, the entire TDP unit is located at Mahanadu.

Chandrababu Naidu who claims that not even 24 hours are sufficient in a day, has got all the time in the world to spend the entire day at the Mahanadu. Similarly, the TDP MLAs who usually are seen on media when they criticize other party leaders are in all praises for their Supremo.

Most of the leaders, including Nara Lokesh, were greatly confined to read the numbers from the papers they carry with them and allege other party leaders. Quite astonishingly, in the name of entertainment, even a small child is made to utter some cinematic dialogues, in a rude tone criticizing other party leaders. Is this what we see in the presence of the Honorable CM of the state?

If the ruling party leaders can put 10% of the amount of enthusiasm, and interest they have towards Mahanadu in their respective portfolios, and constituencies, the state will seem some sort of development.

One should remember the fact that, ‘Mahanadu’ is a celebration for TDP party supporters and not the people of Andhra Pradesh. All that it has done is taken away regular news from the TRP Telugu news channels, and replaced it with ‘Mahandu’ program.

Mahanadu begins, Naidu to be national face of anti-Modi team

Telugu Desam supremo and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is planning to be the national face of the anti-Modi team, representing the regional parties. Though this role was planned initially by Telangana Rastra Samiti president and Telangana chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao, the mantle fell on Chandrababu Naidu at the Bengaluru conclave.

Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Benerji had given this task to Chandrababu Naidu to rally the regional parties together, where Chandrasekhar Rao was absent. The TRS chief, who wanted to build the third front or secular front with the regional parties as an alternative to the NDA and UPA, skipped this Bengaluru meet, only to avoid coming face to face with Sonia Gandhi. He felt it would be embarrassing for him to meet Sonia to whom he had promised to merge his TRS with the Congress if Telangana is given. Trusting him and several other Congress leaders Sonia had gone against all odds and bifurcated the State.

As promised, Chandrasekhar Rao did not merge his party and the Congress could not win either Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. It might take a couple of elections for Congress to come back to power in Telangana, but it would require a couple of decades for the party to win in Andhra Pradesh. This is what Chandrasekhar Rao had done to the Congress and for which he could not face Sonia Gandhi.

His absence at Bengaluru had cost him dearly as Chandrababu Naidu had taken advantage of the situation. The three-day annual Mahanadu of the TDP is set to give him the national face and project him as challenger of the mighty Narendra Modi, who is sure of second term for him. Though Chandrababu Naidu is not ready to leave the State for a national role, it is equally important for him to emerge as challenger to Modi if not alternative.

The Telugu Desam Party had carefully drafted its political resolutions where it is set to hit Narendra Modi hard at the national level and emphasise Chandrababu Naidu’s role for the State. The election is crucial for Chandrababu Naidu as he had to promote his son Lokesh as his successor or else the young leader would have to sit in Opposition all through. Thus this Mahanadu is very important for the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu where he would have to draft his strategy to challenge Modi on one side and lead his party to victory in the State on the other.

TDP to hold Mahanadu in Vijayawada

8

The ruling Telugu Desam Party had decided to organise its annual Mahanadu event this year, 2018, in Vijayawada. The meeting would be held in the last week of May every year. The party coordination committee meeting which held here under the chairmanship of Chandrababu Naidu had zeroed in on the venue for the Mahanadu for this year. The meeting also resolved to organise Tirupati-type meeting in Visakhapatnam on May 20, where the party would explain to the people about the betrayal of the BJP and the conspiracy of the YSR Congress against the State.

Last year the TDP held its Mahandu in Visakhapatnam and this year it will be in Vijayawada. The three-day annual event would also mark the election of the party national president, besides political resolutions to be adopted in the backdrop of the changing political equations. The TDP’s fight for the special category status and its future course of action against the BJP are likely to dominate the agenda of the party’s Mahanadu this year.

As next round of elections to the State Assembly and Lok Sabha too are scheduled to be held before the next Mahanadu, the TDP is likely to take a call on the party’s strategy to take forward the twin issues of fighting for the Special Category Status and election campaign.

Chandrababu Naidu attends TDP’s Telangana unit conclave

On a day when BJP national president Amit Shah addressed a party meeting in Hyderabad, his ally TDP’s national chief N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the annual conclave of his party’s Telangana unit in the city.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are alliance partners at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, but working separately in Telangana.

Amit Shah, who was on a visit to Telangana for last three days, stated on Tuesday that BJP’s alliance with the TDP was only for Andhra Pradesh, hinting that his party will go alone in 2019 elections in Telangana.

BJP’s Telangana leadership has already stated that they will have no truck with the TDP as it is seen as anti-Telangana party in the newly-created state.

Despite the crisis faced by the TDP in Telangana due to many top leaders and legislators switching loyalties to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) over last three years, Naidu flew down to Hyderabad to address party’s annual conclave to boost the morale of the party cadre.

All praise for the hard work of TDP cadre, he said that the TDP workers were his real source of inspiration and the party’s strength.

“I am more indebted to TDP workers than to my family members,” said Naidu.

He recalled that N. T. Rama Rao floated the party for the self-respect of Telugu people. He said it was TDP which brought many reforms in Telangana by doing away with ‘patel patwari’ system and introduced many schemes for the welfare of people.

Naidu also recalled how he developed Hyderabad when he was the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Though Naidu avoided any harsh criticism of the TRS, TDP’s Telangana unit leaders came down heavily on TRS government for its failures on various fronts. The day-long conclave passed resolutions on the government’s failures to come to the rescue of farmers, provide jobs to the unemployed and in fulfilling various poll promises.

TDP’s Telangana unit president L. Ramna said the people of Telangana would teach a lesson to TRS.

Lokesh to spruce up Visakhapatnam for Mahanadu

Visakhapatnam: Minister for IT, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Nara Lokesh, is sprucing up the beach city for the three-day Mahanadu to be held for three days from May 27. Lokesh, who is now in Visakhapatnam, grabbed the opportunity to visit the venue for the Mahanadu on Saturday and held discussions with the party leaders on the arrangements to be made for the mega event.

This being the first Mahanadu for him as Minister, Lokesh is taking special care to monitor the arrangements in every minute detail. Minister for Human Resources, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, besides others is taking care of the food arrangements for the party leaders and activists to be present during the three days. Party State president and Minister for Power, K Kalavenkata Rao, another Minister Ch Ayyannapathrudu from the region have already got into action preparing the rank and file for the mega event.

Lokesh, who has already been elevated by giving him membership of the two prominent Cabinet committees, Industrial Promotion Board and the Land Allocation Committee for Amaravati, is marching ahead making his mark in the State administration. The absence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had come in as a blessing in disguise for him to establish himself as next in command, both in the party and the government as well.

The Mahanadu arrangements are set to give him a greater opportunity to have his word and prove his leadership qualities. A month after his elevation as the Minister, Lokesh now looks different. He is giving least priority to the criticism on him by the Opposition and also the comments against him in the social media. “My concern is not to counter the criticism. I am focusing more on the developmental works, particularly in the IT and Rural Development sectors. While the IT will bring more jobs for the people, the rural development would change the face of the State and that itself would counter the criticism,” he quipped during a chit chat with the media persons before leaving for Visakhapatnam.

With this changed attitude of ignoring the Opposition criticism, Lokesh looks different as he gained greater experience in politics and administration to be the successor to the master of politics, Chandrababu Naidu. His initiatives in making the next Mahanadu are also set to be a greater opportunity to prove his abilities and energies.
