Telugu360 Rating 1/5
Happening comedy actors Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarsh are testing their luck as heroes with a dark comedy titled as Mithai. Directed by Prasanth Kumar, the film also features a bunch of newcomers in key roles.
Mithai grabbed the attention of audience ever since the wacky and fun filled trailers have been released by the makers. The madcap thriller narrates the story of two eccentric friends who struggle in their professional life. VivekSagar composed the tunes.
Let’s find out what is in store for audience with this quirky drama.
Story: Sai ( Rahul ) , Jaani ( Darshi ) are childhood friends who reside in Hyderabad. This ‘ Mithai’ story span is four days in which Sai and Jaani are in search for a necklace thief. In a theft at Sai’s flat, robbers steal a necklace which he bought for his fiancée. As the marriage is scheduled in four days, Sai and Jaani determine to find the culprit. Rest of the story is the situations they face in pursuit of the thief
Analysis: Youth appealing trailers raised curiosity on Mithai. Audience do expect some dark comedy or any type of comedy at least in few scenes. But Mithai miserably fails in generating required comedy. A wafer thin story line has been developed into full length film with some absurd scenes. Inspired by some bolly flicks, director seems to be attempted a hatke comedy which is failed. Most of the film has been shot in bars, the lead duo always shown as drunkards. Characterization wise that is fine, but it becomes monotonous to see back to back bar scenes.
PriyaDarshi , Rahul Ramakrishna acted with ease. VivekSagar’s music is forgettable one in this film
Positives:
- None
Negatives:
- Comedy that failed
- Poor Casting
Verdict:
‘Mithai’ is a B grade film which tries to package as a trendy comedy film. With no sequence is able to make audience laugh, this film is avoidable one.

Mithai Trailer: Rahul and Darshi promises Unlimited Fun
Young comedians Rahul Ravindran and Priyadarshi are all set to leave the audience in laugh riot with Mithai which is announced for February release. The theatrical trailer of the film is out and it leaves the audience in loads of loud laughs. The trailer reveals about a real story that is narrated with loads of entertainment. Rahul and Priyadarshi add life to this comic entertainer.
The interesting lighting and background score brings different mood for Mithai. The office episodes look hilarious and the trailer promises that the film will be different. The film directed by Prashant Kumar is announced for February 22nd release. Kamal Kamaraj, Arsha, Ravi Varma, Bhushan and Swetha will be seen in other key roles in this comic entertainer.
Who decides if this Mithai is sweet?
The below tweet made us think. Prashant Kumar is a new entrant to the industry and made quite an effort to make Mithai. His friends Rahul Ramakrishna helped him with the dialogues and other friends worked with him to make the film happen. So far so good. The trailer also created interest and irrespective of his credentials, the fact that it is a dark comedy will definitely have the young generation checking it out at the theatres. How far is the debutant correct in posting such an arrogant and an over confident tweet? He might have self financed the project but a producer definitely needs a distributor. It is very necessary to stoop to conquer or at-least make your presence registered.
There have been distributors approaching this talented director but he is reportedly quoting insane price for their areas. He needs to understand the ground reality and if Rahul and Darshi are strong enough to pull people to the theatre. Appreciation for talent is one thing and making a person buy a ticket is something else. For a small comedy movie like this which is banking on the genre, story and actors it is important that Prashant doesn’t get into a stubborn mode and more importantly tweet in such a condescending manner. Every director thinks he has a master piece and every Friday decides if his future is in his control. We learn by mistakes but it is also better if we learn from someone else’s mistakes.
Mithai could undoubtedly be a masterpiece but when he gets someone to buy it, shouldn’t he be wise in giving it away for something reasonable. When people don’t approach, most new directors rue that the industry doesn’t encourage them and real talent has no takers and business. All films can’t be an Arjun Reddy or RX100, there are examples of Natakam, Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayulu etc as well. Regular distributors won’t come and if at all someone is approaching, the director should capitalize on them. A newspaper has value only till 6AM and after that no one reads it.
After the buzz from trailer buyers started haunting me, they are baraging with me like a woman does in my village. My film is a piece of art and it has fixed price, if you can afford it buy it or just FUCK off, will never get into bargain mode. @priyadarshi_i @eyrahul @buduggadu
