Multi-starrer films are all the rage in Tollywood now. Seasoned stars Venkatesh and Nagarjuna have already flagged off their upcoming multi-starrer films with young heroes like Varun Tej, Naga Chaitanya and Nani. These projects are currently in different stages of production.

Meanwhile, another interesting multi-starrer film is on cards. As per the latest grapevine, Nagarjuna is likely to team up with young actor Sharwanand for a entertainer to be helmed by a highly talented young director. It is learnt that a top production house has locked the script which has equal weight for both lead characters.

Both Nagarjuna and Sharwanand will take a call after listening the full draft. The remaining details of the project are kept under wraps as of now.

The latest speculation making rounds is that Nag registered Manmadhudu 2 with the Film Chamber recently. Manmadhudu was a smashing hit in Nag’s career that released in 2002. Vijay Bhaskar directed the film and Annapurna Studios bankrolled the romantic comedy.

It is still unclear if Nag plays the lead role in the sequel or if one of his sons Chaitu or Akhil will take the lead. An official announcement is awaited.

Adivi Sesh’s latest offering Goodachari is running with packed houses and has already attained hit status at box office. Buoyed by the response, the makers of this spy thriller held a success meet in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Akkineni Nagarjuna attended the event as chief guest. Speaking at the event, Nag said Goodachari will inspire many people like how Shiva did after its release in 1989. He congratulated the whole team for delivering a quality output with minimum resources.

Nag is very impressed with Goodachari and he himself asked the makers whether he could something for the film. Nag’s appreciation has left the team thrilled. Producer Anil Sunkara who released the film said Nag’s comparison of Goodachari with his career defining hit is the biggest compliment.

Seasoned Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna is returning to B’Town after a gap of 15 years. He teamed up with Bollywood producer Karan Johar for a multi-starrer film which also features Amithab Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Nagarjuna Confirms Doing Brahmastra, Says It’s Impressive

Nagarjunas career is going great guns. While his new Telugu film, to be directed by newcomer Sriram Adittya, is on the floors, Nagarjuna has taken off to Europe for a ten-day shooting of his first Hindi film in 15 years.

Before his departure, Nagarjuna said: “Yes, I am doing Brahmastra. It is my first Hindi film in a very long time. I can’t remember when was the last time I did a Hindi film. I think it was Mahesh Bhatt’s Zakhm.”

Reminded that his last Hindi film was J.P. Dutta’s LOC Kargil in 2003, the actor’s memory is nimbly nudged.

“Oh yes, LOC. But that was a brief role, though a lot of fun to do. Zakhm was my last full-fledged role in a Hindi film. I still remember Alia Bhatt as a child on Bhatt saab’s set. Now I am working with her in Brahmastra. How time flies.”

Nagarjuna is looking forward to working with the entire Brahmastra team.

“Except Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) with whom I’ve worked in Khuda Gawah, they are all new to me. I’m working for the first time with Karan Johar, (director) Ayan Mukherjee, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.”

The actor, who has in the past shone in Hindi films like Angaaray, Criminal and Zakhm, sounds a bit surprised at being offered a major Hindi film at this stage of his career.

“My career in Andhra keeps me busy. I’ve not shown any inclination to do a Hindi film, though I’m open to doing films in any language if the set-up is good. Brahmastra was impressive from the moment it came to me. I said ‘yes’ immediately and now here I am on my way to shoot for it. I am looking forward to it.”

Asked about his role, he said: “I am not supposed to say much. To be honest, I’m not very sure of the extent of my role. But it’s a pivotal part. And they probably thought of me because the role suits my personality.”

Nagarjuna set to enter ‘Munnabhai…’ territory

After Ram Gopal Varma’s “Officer” that opens next week, actor Nagarjuna is already on to his next project a big light-hearted comedy with which the veteran star says he enters the Munnabhai-territory.

“This new film that I am doing with Nani is very much in the Raj Kumar Hirani territory. I play a gangster and Nani plays my doctor. It is a very warm-hearted funny script. And I’ve a feeling director Sriram Adittya will make something special out of it,” says Nag, who has no problem doing two-hero films with younger actors.

“I’ve never in my career felt threatened by the presence of any other actor. Earlier I was mostly doing solo-hero films in Telugu because that was what was offered to me.

“Recently these two-hero projects have come which I enjoy doing. I enjoyed working with Karthi in ‘Oopiri’. I am sure working with Nani will be a lot of fun,” says Nag who looks forward to working with his sons Nag Chaitanya and Akhil.

There has been an announcement that Nagarjuna would be working with Priyadarshan in a biopic “Makkar the Lion Of The Arabian Sea”, based on the exploits of the 16th century naval explorer Kunjali Marakkar-IV.

However Nag dismisses these reports as premature. “I was approached but I need to hear the script before I say ‘yes’. I will be hearing it June end. At the moment I am only doing the film with Nani.”

Nag feels no pressure at this stage to work non-stop. “I’ve to be happy with the work I am doing. And to be happy the role has to be challenging. And for the role to be challenging it has to be something I haven’t done before.”

Officer has ended up it’s run worldwide with a distributor share of 1 cr. The film is one of the biggest disasters in TFI history and biggest ever in Nagarjuna’s Career. The film struggled to recover the expenses wherever it was sold. West Godavari area was sold for 35 lakhs and it costed another 5 lakhs for the distributor to release the film. The film has collected a share of 4 lakhs here which means it didn’t recover the expenses. Ceeded area was given for 1.75 cr on advance basis but when will that be returned to the distributor? The film ran for just 2 to 3 days in some centres and was a total washout by the end of 1st week.

RGV Akhil movie used as a bait to sell Officer

King Nagarjuna teamed up with Ram Gopal Varma after years with Officer which carried low buzz right from day one. The teasers and the trailer failed to attract the audience and the film lacked interesting business offers. It is during this time, a film in the combo of Akhil and Ram Gopal Varma has been announced saying that Nag is extremely impressed with the way Officer has been shaping up. This film turned out to be a trap for Officer as the makers sold the film citing to offer Akhil’s film if they fail to recover the investments.

Officer released last Friday and has been declared as the biggest disaster of Telugu cinema. The buyers are left shattered and will end up recovering zero from their investments. One of the film’s buyers spoke to Telugu360 saying that he was cheated completely. “I was in plans to produce a small budget film and it is during this time, RGV’s close aides took me to JD Chakravarthy’s office and forced me to buy Officer. They even offered me Akhil – RGV’s film if I don’t recover my investments. Though I was not impressed with the teasers and the trailer, I was forced to buy the film. Now they are out of reach and I am asked to pay the QUBE charges for the film. Suicide is the only option left for me” confessed the distributor.

Officer lacked buyers and RGV’s team managed to sell the movie during the last hours citing Akhil’s film which is a huge trap. Nagarjuna has been staying calm and away from the business of Officer right from the first day. Ram Gopal Varma has been badly criticized for his work and is unavailable as of now.
