Owaisi brothers hoist Tricolour in Hyderabad

1

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday hoisted the Tricolour in the old city of Hyderabad on the occasion of the country’s 75th Independence Day.

Like every year, Asaduddin Owaisi hoisted the Tricolour at Madina Circle near historic Charminar. The Hyderabad MP was accompanied by local leaders of the party and traders.

Asaduddin took to Twitter to convey best wishes to all on Independence Day. “Our ancestors fought against the British but they also fought for an India that was free from hunger, exploitation and tyranny. We must take their struggle forward. May Allah SWT protect our country from hate and oppression,” he wrote.

AIMIM floor leader in Telangana State Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi hoisted the Tricolor at Fatima Owaisi KG to PG Educational Campus at Bandlaguda.

Students and faculty participated in the ceremony along with the MLA from Chandrayangutta constituency.

Independence Day celebrations were also held at Darussalam, the AIMIM headquarters.

Party joint secretary S.A. Hussain Anwar hoisted the national flag in the presence of party leaders and workers.

Owaisi demands immediate rollback of ‘Agnipath’ scheme

1

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday appealed to the Central government to immediately rollback defence services recruitment scheme ‘Agnipath’.

Reacting to the government’s statement ruling out a rollback, the Hyderabad MP made a fresh appeal.

“I once again appeal to the government to stop this devious manner of working, listen to the youth of this country, immediately rollback this cruel scheme of contractual recruitment and make up the shortfall in men and equipment for our armed forces,” Owaisi tweeted.

He also slammed the Narendra Modi government over the issue. “BJP leaders say we will hire demobilised contract soldiers as chowkidars for their offices. Is this the dignity Modi’s party assigns to soldiers and soldiering, which is a profession of honour?,” he asked. “It is regrettable that we have a ruling party like this in the country,” he said.

“We have seen the destruction caused to the Indian economy and society by reckless steps like demonetisation and lockdown taken without any thought and planning,” he wrote and wanted to know if the Prime Minister now wants to do the same to national security.

Earlier, Owaisi, posting a video of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, said: “Modi’s minister says Agniveers will be trained as drivers, dhobis etc Serving in army is a prestigious profession with no parallel. These men are willing to kill or get killed for India. If they wanted to be drivers, etc why would they spend 4 years in army?”

“It’s clear that BJP sees Agniveers as nothing but chowkidaars on hire,” he said and alleged that the Prime Minister is playing with India’s security and destroying the future of youth.

Why KCR is silent over bullet firing on Owaisi in UP?

0

It is known to everyone that the TRS and AIMIM are the ‘friendly parties’ in Telangana and TRS president and Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao has a special bonding with AIMIM president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his MLA brother Akbaruddin Owaisi.

But strangely when Asaduddin Owaisi escaped a bullet firing on him by some miscreants in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, there was no response from KCR. Owaisi is campaigning in UP Assembly polls, where AIMIM is contesting 27 seats.

KCR was expected to strongly condemn this incident by issuing at least a press release. But it did not happen.

Only TRS working president and minister K.T.Rama Rao condemned this incident by posting a tweet on his Twitter handle.

All other TRS leaders remained calm. Why this silence from KCR? is being debated in political circles.

It is rumoured that KCR is not happy at Owaisi’s decision to contest UP Assembly polls. KCR fears that AIMIM will split Muslim votes among Congress, SP, BSP and AIMIM which will finally help BJP to win Assembly polls and retain power. UP has a considerable Muslim population and plays a decisive role in several constituencies.

KCR wants BJP to lose UP Assembly elections at any cost but Owaisi’s decision to contest elections has upset KCR and this is the reason for KCR’s silence, it is speculated.

Owaisi gives adjournment notice to discuss Nagaland violence

0

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday gave an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss the killings of civilians in Nagaland.

At least 13 civilians, and an Assam Rifles trooper were killed and 14 others injured in a series of violent clashes in Nagaland’s Mon district after an army operation to target Naga insurgents went wrong late on Saturday.

In his adjournment notice, Owaisi pointed out that it has been reported that at least 14 civilians have been killed in a ‘botched up’ operation by the security forces.

“This is a matter of urgent public importance as it pertains directly to the civil liberties of Indian citizens. I request that scheduled business of the House for today be set aside so that the House may urgently address this issue,” he said.

Villagers and sources said that the security personnel are believed to have mistaken the victims as members of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang-Yung Aung and fired on them. Angry locals attacked the security forces and torched at least three vehicles.

Defence sources said that the security forces have suffered severe injuries in the incident, including one soldier who succumbed to the injuries.

A brief statement of the Army said that based on credible intelligence of likely movement of insurgents, a specific operation was planned to be conducted in the area of Tiru under Mon district.

“The incident and its aftermath is deeply regretted. The cause of the unfortunate loss of lives is being investigated at the highest level and appropriate action will be taken as per the course of law,” the statement said.

What did diaper babies do in Old City: Raja Singh asks Owaisi brothers

2

Raja Singh, BJP MLA representing Goshamahal Assembly constituency raised his pitch against his arch rivals – the Owaisi brothers.
Calling the brothers “diaper babies” hiding in the safe haven of the Old City, Raja Singh questioned what were the Owaisi brothers doing when hundreds of Muslim women were sold to old men from the Gulf in the illegal marriage racket. “Not a single Hindu woman was ever was sold in such illegal marriage transactions. What did the Owaisi brothers were doing when our Muslim daughters, when our Muslim sisters dignity and respect was being sold away to men from Gulf. They are daughters of Telangana. What did the diaper babies do when our Muslim daughters were being sold in marriage market,” he questioned.
He said the BJP is not against Muslims, but against terrorism and terrorists calling them “terrorist dogs.” “We don’t hate Muslims. We are against terrorists and illegal immigrants who are involved in terror acts in the country,” he said.
Further, Raja Singh claimed that the Owaisi brothers and their AIMIM party lost credibility in their own bastion – the Old City.
“Muslim women are chasing away MIM party leaders with broom sticks when they are going to their doorstep seeking votes. Such is the credibility they have in their own constituency,” he took a jibe at Owaisi brothers.
He said in the last more than 15 years, the Old City remained backward only because of AIMIM and its party’s main faces – the Owaisi brothers. “We have seen what happened to the Old City when the torrential rains and flash floods hit Hyderabad. The only language that the Owaisi brothers know and understand is the language of hate by keeping the Muslim brothers in a constant state of darkness. All that they know is whip up their passions. But Muslims have realized their ulterior motives and keeping MIM away,” he said.
On Asaduddin Owaisi challenge to Prime Minister Modi to visit the Old City, Raja Singh said the AIMIM president tried every trick in the book to stop UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to the city but proved futile. “He met the DGP. He moved heaven and earth to stop Yogi Adityanath ji’s visit to Shalibanda. Now, your baap (father) has come. Stop him. You are scared like a rat hiding in your hole at Adityanath ji’s visit,” he said.

Azharduddin to bat against Owaisi

0

Hyderabad: Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin is expected to contest from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, a strong turf of AIMIM party. Congress party is actively considering Azharuddin’s candidature for fielding him from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Whether the former Indian cricket skipper, also known for his outstanding ground fielding, can catch Owaisi preventing him from fourth consecutive win, we have to wait and watch, observes a political analyst.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has reportedly discussed on fielding Azharuddin in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency with party chief Rahul Gandhi. TPCC president Uttamkumar Reddy and RC Kuntia, Telangana state in-charge for Congress, have proposed Azharuddin’s name for Hyderabad constituency. TPCC has received over 37 applications for Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.

The classy cricketer hails from Vittalwadi, Himayathnagar, and in last November 2018, expressed his desire to contest from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Just before Assembly elections held in December 2018, Azharuddin has been appointed as working president for the Telangana Congress party.

Party sources said that if Azharuddin doesn’t take up the task of contesting from Hyderabad, then he may be offered Zaheerabad constituency. Congress party is keen to check Owaisi, who has been continuously winning Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency since 2004.

The sitting MP AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is member of 16th Lok Sabha representing Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency. It may be recalled that Asaduddin Owaisi’s father Salhahuddin Owaisi won five times as Hyderabad MP from 1980s. In the recent Assembly elections, AIMIM won six out of seven constituencies under Hyderabad LokSabha purview, and lost one Goshamahal seat to BJP as Raja Singh is the lone MLA for the saffron party in Telangana.

Azharuddin has never contested in Telangana and united AP as well. He won as MP from Moradabad, UP, in 2004 elections and lost in 2014 polls from Tonk-Sawai Madhapur, Rajasthan.

Accepting RSS invite will amount to inviting destruction: Owaisi

0

Amid reports that the RSS is planning to invite Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders to its meeting, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said those accepting the invite will be inviting destruction.

The Hyderabad MP ruled out accepting the RSS invitation, saying he would never do the “stupidity” displayed by former President Pranab Mukherjee who attended an RSS event

“This is the time to show the difference. Just because BJP is in power, one should not succumb or prostrate before such an ideology,” he told reporters.

Owaisi was reacting to media reports that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is planning to invite Rahul Gandhi, other opposition leaders and even some Muslim leaders to its three-day lecture series ‘Future of Bharat: An RSS perspective’ in New Delhi from September 17.

The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President said he always rejected the RSS ideology as they believe in Hindu nationalism while he, like most Indians, believed in Indian nationalism.

On BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s tweet that businessman Vijay Mallya escaped from India because the lookout notice against him was downgraded after he met someone powerful in the Finance Ministry, the MIM chief said if Swamy had the courage of conviction, he should move the court of law and take this matter to a logical conclusion.

Telangana: Congress rules out tie-up with Owaisi’s AIMIM

0

NEW DELHI: Days after dissolution of the Telangana assembly, the Congress on Sunday ruled out joining hands with Asaduddin Owaisi ‘s AIMIM for early elections in the state.

The Congress also said its chief ministerial candidate will be decided upon after the elections and in consultation with the MLAs. Telangana Congress in charge Ramachandra Khuntia alleged that TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao had dissolved the legislative assembly before the completion of its term to get minority votes. Then Rao can join hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls, he added. “The Congress is ready to contest and win the Telangana assembly elections,” Khuntia told PTI Bhasha. He said the Congress will hold talks for a tie-up with the Telangana Jan Samiti, CPI and other smaller parties in the state. “A (pre-poll) arrangement with the AIMIM is out of question,” he said. Speaking about the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) releasing its list of candidates for the elections, Khunti said, “The TRS is a party of one person and family. The Congress is a national party and candidates are decided after deliberations at all levels of the organisation”. “The names of candidates will be announced at the right time,” he added.

Khunti said only Congress president Rahul Gandhi could announce the name of the party’s chief ministerial candidate. “Rahul Gandhi has the right to announce the party’s chief ministerial candidate. But the party normally does not do it,” he said. “The elections will be fought under the leadership of state Congress chief (N) Uttam (Kumar) Reddy. He will decide on the chief ministerial candidate after the elections, based on the opinion of the MLAs,” he added. He claimed that Muslims, Dalits and other weaker sections of society have no faith in Owaisi or KCR, as Rao is popularly known, because the two leaders are focused only on the prosperity of their families.

The Congress in charge also accused Rao of not fulfilling his promises. “Reservation was not granted to minorities in Telangana. The poor did not get houses. The area of influence of the land and sand mafias has grown. They (Rao’s government) have made the state ‘Telangana of KCR family’.”

Muslims should emerge as political force, says Owaisi

0

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday said Muslims should emerge as political force to get their rights in the country.

He said he believes this will strengthen the country, the roots of secularism and restore confidence among Muslims.

Addressing a meeting at the historic Mecca Masjid on the last Friday of Ramadan, he said the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) will continue its political journey to expand in different parts of the country despite the allegations from its rivals that it is dividing secular votes.

Stating that MIM did not contest elections in Karnataka and extended support to Janta Dal-Secular as a strategy, Owaisi said the outcome proved their strategy right. He revealed that JD-S leader (and now Chief Minister) H.D. Kumaraswamy had offered MIM a seat but he declined.

The Hyderabad MP said Muslims could no longer trust the Congress. “The Congress is finished. A man who spent 50 years in Congress and was President of India visited RSS headquarters. Do you still have hopes from this party,” he asked referring to Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to RSS headquarters on Thursday.

Owaisi said there was need to think of an alternate to the Bharatiya Janata Party, other than the Congress. “The alternate is regional parties and they have to be strengthened,” he said referring to the proposal of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao for a federal front as alternative to both BJP and Congress and to bring qualitative change in the country’s politics.

Owaisi slammed Mukherjee for visiting RSS headquarters and calling RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar a great son of India. He said the man who held the highest constitutional post in the country should know that it was Hedgewar who had asked RSS workers not to fight British and who had stated that India is a country of Hindus.

The MIM president also lashed out at Congress for terming Mukherjee’s speech at the RSS meet as “sagacious”. He reminded Congress that RSS cadre had celebrated when Mahatma Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse.

Owaisi alleged that both BJP and Congress were hoodwinking the people, who were worried over skyrocketing prices of petroleum products and lack of jobs.

The MIM chief voiced concern over growing number of attacks on Muslims. He said repression was let loose on the community in the name of the cow since BJP came to power in the country four years ago. “As many as 28 people were killed in these four years in the name of cow,” he said.

Quoting statistics of Union Home Ministry, Owaisi said the communal riots had increased by 24 per cent. There were 8,890 incident of communal riots in which 390 people were killed and 9,000 injured.

He alleged that the BJP government created an environment of hatred towards Muslims and a message was being given that Muslims are responsible for Partition and that they are not loyal to this country.

Owaisi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets Muslims on Ramadan and speaks about ‘zakat’ in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme but he had failed to discharge his responsibilities as a ruler.

The MP said if the excesses on Muslims continued, this will result in the Constitution being thrown to the wind and there will be no rule of law.

Haj subsidy scrapped: What about funds given for Hindu pilgrimages, asks Owaisi

0

Haj subsidy scrapped

Attacking the BJP for calling Haj subsidy a form of Muslim appeasement and vote bank politics, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi today claimed the party’s government in Uttar Pradesh gave funds for pilgrimages and wanted to know if that would be stopped.

Funds are also given for the Kumbh Mela, while the Congress government in Karnataka gives grants to those who undertake ‘Chardham Yatra’, Owaisi claimed, adding he himself had demanded the withdrawal of the Haj subsidy long ago. “Haj subsidy this year is (Rs) 200 crore & it would have been phased out by 2022 as per Supreme Court order, since 2006 I have been demanding that should be removed & used for Muslim girls education upliftment,” Owaisi tweeted. There will be no subsidy for Haj from this year, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said today, calling the step “part of our policy to empower minorities with dignity and without appeasement”.

Owaisi, in another tweet, asked if the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh would stop the funds, which he said, are given for pilgrimage to Ayodhya, Kashi and other temple towns. “#Haj Subsidy BJP /RSS had called It appeasement, vote Bank Pol my Qs to BJP will you bring a Bill in parliament remove Article 290A of Constitution, Will BJP Tell Yogi govt to stop 800 crore for pilgrimage to Ayodhya,Kashi,Mathura 1.5 lakh to each Manasarovar yatri?” he asked.

Article 290A relates to the annual payment of certain Devaswom Funds. “Haj Subsidy 3 Qs to BJP/RSS Why did Haryana government give 1 Crore to Dera Sacha Sauda was it for electoral appeasement? 4qs why did Modi govt gave the grant of 100 crores to MP govt for Simhastha Maha Kumbh & MP govt had spent 3,400 crores was this not appeasement,” Owaisi said in a series of tweets.

Claiming that the Congress government in Karnataka gave Rs 20,000 to each pilgrim who undertook ‘Chardham Yatra’, Owaisi asked whether it was not “appeasement of majority”. Would the NDA government “walk the talk” by allocating enough funds for the education of Muslims girls, he asked. “I challenge the Modi Government to walk the talk by allocating 2,0000 crores for Muslim girls scholarships…will wait and see in next budget 18-19,” he said.

KCR more popular than Owaisi in old city??

0

Results of a recent survey in the old city of Hyderabad seems to have left the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi in shock as CM KCR has surpassed Asaduddin Owaisi in terms of popularity, as he is leading with 54 per cent while Asaduddin Owaisi got only 44 per cent.

Reasons for this seem to be many popular schemes like Shaadi Mubarak, residential schools, overseas education assistance and many other populist schemes that were introduced by TRS government. Earlier, the governments never bothered even to look at old city and never allocated funds for the people in the area, but the TRS government had brought numerous programs, which were being utilized by the poor minority sections, like – pensions, Shaadi Mubarak, residential schools, Iftars, Rs 20 lakh loan assistance to the students etc. All these schemes helped TRS penetrate in the old city.

Recently, MIM leaders are also praising KCR for his programmes.MIM leader in Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi said that there are 200 residential schools for Muslims in Telangana which are nowhere in the country. However, raising popularity of TRS in old city is definitely cause of concern for MIM. Performance of the TRS in the GHMC elections was very good and TRS gave tough time for the Majlis. The TRS was second in many seats in old city. MIM hoping to ally with TRS next elections.

We will have to wait and see how the equation with MIM will change for TRS after this survey results!!

Recognise Jerusalem as Palestine capital: Owaisi

0

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has urged the Indian government to recognise Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital to counter US President Donald Trump’s move in recognising the holy city as Israel’s capital.

He also demanded that India stop buying weapons from Israel and sever diplomatic ties with the country.

The Member of Parliament said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit India in January.

Owaisi was addressing a massive public meeting organised by Muslim groups here late on Friday night to protest Trump’s announcement recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

A resolution passed at the meeting said Trump’s announcement violates all international norms. It demanded that Trump withdraw the decision.

Owaisi said India should take a clear stand in support of Palestinians as the country had historically backed their just cause.

He recalled the words of Mahatma Gandhi that “Palestine belongs to Palestinians just as France belongs to French”.

The Hyderabad MP also criticised the silence of Arab and Muslim countries on the repression let loose by Israel in Gaza. He praised President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan for taking a bold stand against Israel.

The public meeting demanded that Israel vacate the occupied Arab lands and withdraw to its pre-1967 boundaries.

Eminent religious leaders belonging to all schools of thought and representatives of various Muslim political and socio-religious organisations addressed the massive gathering at Darussalam, the headquarters of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM).

The speakers highlighted the significance of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa mosque for Islam.

They said Muslims world over have spiritual attachment to the holy place as it was the land of prophets and it was from here that Prophet Mohammed had begun his ascension to Heaven.

The meeting urged the UN Security Council, European Union and the world leaders to implement the UN resolutions asking Israel to withdraw from the occupied lands.

It urged US-friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan to impress upon the US administration to withdraw its act of illegal recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“The resistance of movement of the Palestinians has to be respected. Israel must be declared a terrorist state. The ummah must be ready to make any sacrifice for the protection of Jerusalem,” read the resolution.

The meeting appealed to Muslim countries to impose economic and commercial sanctions on Israel and break their overt or secret diplomatic relations with Israel.

It appealed to people, especially Muslims, to protest in a democratic and peaceful manner to express their concern and submit their memoranda to the US, European Union, the UK and Arab and Muslim countries through their diplomatic missions.

It also urged Muslims to conduct special prayers and offer “dua” for restoration of Jerusalem to State of Palestine and for the protection of the Al-Aqsa mosque.

Attempt to use temple issue to save Modi in 2019, says Owaisi

0

MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said the Sangh Parivar wants to use Ram temple issue to save Narendra Modi in the 2019 general elections as he has failed on all fronts.

He said the RSS, VHP and BJP should not be allowed to polarize the voters on temple issue and justified the stand taken by Sunni Wakf Board’s lawyer Kapil Sibal in Supreme Court that the hearing of the title suit be deferred till the elections.

Talking to reporters here, he said a leader of VHP has announced that the temple construction will begin in October 2018 while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has stated that only a temple can come up in Ayodhya.

“These statements are all aimed at influencing and threatening Muslims and raking up the issue before the elections to save Mr Modi, who has failed to provide jobs, check farmers’ suicides and his actions like demonetization and GST have destroyed business in the informal sector. The elections should be held on these real issues,” he said.

“When you don’t allow release of a film in Gujarat on the ground that it will influence the elections, how can you ignore the impact the temple issue may have?” he asked.

The MP also dismissed criticism of Sibal in a section of media and said he was representing Sunni Wakf Board in the apex court and not the Congress.

He reiterated that Sunni Wakf Board need at least six months to present its arguments before the court as a voluminous record of 17,000 documents need to be translated.

Replying to a query, the Hyderabad MP sad Parliament can’t legislate on the temple till the matter is in the Supreme Court.

“We have separation of powers. The judiciary, executive and legislature are independent. If somebody wants to become a dictator, then people will decide,” he said.

Owaisi said the issue of Babri Masjid was not an issue of Muslims but a matter of justice.

“Even after 25 years of the demolition of Babri Masjid, the case against the accused who instigated people through their provocative speeches and which led to the demolition has not been heard,” he said.

He reiterated his support to the suggestion by Justice M.S. Liberhan (retd.), who had headed the commission probing the conspiracy behind the razing of the disputed structure, that the hearing of title suit be deferred till the criminal case was disposed of.

Owaisi opposes triple talaq bill, calls for Muslim unity to protect ‘shariat’

0

Strongly opposing the proposed legislation on triple talaq, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday called for unity among Indian Muslims to protect the ‘shariat’.

Stating that the Supreme Court verdict on the issue is confusing and nobody can say if uttering talaq thrice in one sitting annuls marriage or it is considered only one talaq, he wondered how the government can bring a bill in the Parliament.

The Member of Parliament asked the Narendra Modi government if it would provide financial aid to women if their husbands were sent to jail for three years.

Addressing a public meeting at MIM headquarters Darussalam on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabbi, he warned that the legislation could lead to a new problem of husbands abandoning their wives.

He criticised Modi for speaking about the rights of Muslim women but ignoring the “Hindu sisters”. Claiming that “20 lakh Hindu women are abandoned by their husbands”, Owaisi asked Modi if he would come to their rescue as well.

He said the Sangh Pariwar shows sympathy for Muslim women but was not allowing a film to be released.

“When you can’t allow a film (‘Padmavati’) to be released, how can you interfere in my shariat,” Owaisi asked.

The MIM President said Muslims should learn a lesson from Rajputs who despite being less in numbers came together to stop the release of the film.

“If Muslims can unite to strengthen the country and to save shariat, we can definitely do something,” he added.

The MP said the community should also learn lessons from Patels, Gujjars, Jats and Marathas who came together to fight for their rights and for reservation.

On Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement that the Taj Mahal is not part of Indian culture, and BJP describing the monument as symbol of slavery, Owaisi asked why Modi hosted a dinner in Falaknuma Palace here for US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and others.

“You have to see the symbols of our forefathers,” he remarked while also referring to the other dinner hosted at Golconda Fort for delegates of Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) this week.

Referring to the Gujarat elections, the MIM chief said the leaders of both BJP and Congress were vying with each other in visiting temples and every leader claiming himself to be a “bigger Hindu than the other”.

He alleged that both the parties were competing with each other in offering reservation for various communities but were united in opposing quota for Muslims. He described both the parties as “hypocrites”.

On former US President Barack Obama stressing the need to nurture and cherish Indian Muslims, Owaisi said it was news for media only because a former US President has stated it.

“Our party has been saying the same for over 60 years. We have been saying that we love this country, we have faith in its Constitution and the country can strengthen if Muslims get their constitutional rights,” he said.

Targetting the Congress party, he said it blamed the MIM for dividing votes in various states to hide its failure to defeat Modi. He recalled that his party had contested only 28 seats out of 400 in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

“In the civic polls in UP, we won 32 seats but Congress got only 19 seats and could not win a single seat in Amethi,” he added.

Owaisi seeks action against those who attacked Telangana Principal

0

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded the arrest of suspected ABVP workers who assaulted a college Principal in Telangana’s Nizamabad district for wearing shoes while hoisting the national flag on Independence Day.

The Hyderabad MP urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to act against the culprits.

“Every Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister was wearing shoes (on Independence Day). Will they protest and assault them also? The cowards attacked the Principal only because he is a Muslim,” tweeted Owaisi.

“Bloody jokers (sic) ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad) says cannot hoist national flag with shoes. Can (they) show the rule in National Honours Act?” he asked.

Mohammed Yakeenuddin, Principal of Government Junior College at Nandipet Ailapur, was assaulted and forced to raise slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ by the protestors.

The videos shared on social media show attackers raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and some of them even asked the Principal to go to Pakistan.

Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) also demanded action against the attackers. MBT Spokesman Amjedullah Khan wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, urging him to ensure that strict action is taken against the guilty.

Stating that Chief Ministers of all states and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi were wearing shoes while hoisting the national flag on August 15, the MBT leader said the attack showed the “growing intolerance by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”.

Why did BJP fail to protect Amarnath pilgrims: Owaisi

0

Condemning the terror attack on the Amarnath pilgrims, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday asked the Modi government to explain why it failed to protect them despite intelligence warnings about a possible attack.

The Hyderabad MP told reporters here that he strongly condemned the attack as nobody had a right to kill innocent people.

Stating that this was the second terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims after the BJP came to power, Owaisi demanded that the government should explain why it failed to ensure their safety despite intelligence warning which was carried by the media on June 26.

“The BJP is in power at the Centre and is also ruling Jammu and Kashmir along with the PDP. It is the moral responsibility of the government to tell people why they failed,” said the Lok Sabha member.

He pointed out that Kashmiri terrorist Syed Salahuddin in an interview to The Telegraph had indicated that such attacks would be carried out.

“It’s time the BJP at the Centre does some course correction,” he added.

He alleged that Salahuddin along with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) wanted to create a 2008-like situation in the Kashmir Valley.

Slamming those trying to do politics over the killing of innocent pilgrims, Owaisi said they should not allow LeT and ISI to create problems.

“We should also keep in mind what China is doing on the Sikkim border.”

Referring to the arrest of one Sandeep Kumar from Uttar Pradesh for his links with the LeT outfit, the MP said it raised an important question.

He also found fault with the Shiv Sena for linking the Amarnath Yatra with Haj pilgrims.

He said if Shiv Sena was angry and upset over the terror attack, it should take out its anger on the government.

He asked Shiv Sena to explain why it continued to support the BJP government when the latter failed to provide safety and security to the Amarnath pilgrims.

Owaisi takes a dig at Modi-Nitesh deal, questions the fate of Telangana Bhavan

0

Member of Parliament Lok Sabha and President All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen Party Asaduddin Owaisi taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitesh Kumar’s deal, asked the reason for the centre not reconciling the dispute of Telangana Bhavan when it could settle the Bihar Bhavan issue.

Indian Express reported that the Central Government handed over the Bihar Niwas to Bihar Government days before Chief Minister Nitesh Kumar pledged support to NDA Presidential Candidate Ram Nath Kovind. As per the report, Union Home Ministry persuaded the Jharkhand government to accept the compensation and give up on the Bihar Niwas, in Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi. As per the Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000, one third of Bihar assets have to be transferred to Jharkhand.

It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been fighting over the distribution of assets. It may be noted that there were wrangles over the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan Complex on Ashoka Road in New Delhi which has both Telangana and Andhra Bhavan and offices of both the governments. The attitude of central government to resolve the asset distribution concerns of the Telugu states has been ineffectual.

Terming it “Pork Barell politics” between BJP and JDU, Asaduddin took to twitter seeking the reason for not securing Telangana Bhavan. It may be noted that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao despite not being an ally of NDA, extended support to Ram Nath Kovind.

KTR blame game – accuses previous regimes for water problem

0

Even after two and half years of his government, completing more than half of the term, following many other ruling parties of the country, Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao blames the previous regimes for the prevailing drinking water problem in the `global city’ Hyderabad, especially in the Old City.

Replying to a question in the State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour today, he said however, the State Government was taking corrective steps to improve the water supply position. He admitted that drinking water was one among three major issues for his party’s grand success in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls by winning 100 of 150 seats. Other major issues are power and law and order.

He assured that the drinking water needs of the city would be met on priority basis. He said he was ready to convene the meeting of city legislators on the issue and the government was also ready to take up short discussion.

Refuting MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s accusation that the Old City is being neglected, the minister said that as against the revenue of Rs. 93 crore, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB)spends Rs. 115 crore in the Old City. However, he admitted that the government was unable to assess the details of water needs in the Old City. He also listed out various works which were sanctioned for the Old City.

He further said that while previous Congress Government had spent only Rs. 377 crore on HMWSSB from 2009 to 2014, during the last two years, TRS Government had spent Rs. 261 crore and sanctioned 7,624 works worth Rs. 448 crore.
