Nation needs to know what Telangana is giving to Centre: TRS

1

Telangana’s ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday found fault with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her statement in the Parliament about the funds given to the state and said the nation needs to know what Telangana gives to the government of India.

TRS working President K.T. Rama Rao tweeted on Wednesday night that he was pained by the condescension in the statement of the Finance Minister in the Parliament that the government of India has given funds to Telangana.

“People of Telangana and the nation need to know what Telangana gives to GOI in the form of taxes and what we get in return. Hope the irony is not lost on you FM Ji,” added KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known.

KTR, a key minister in the cabinet of his father K. Chandrashekhar Rao, posted a statement, giving details of what Telangana gave to the Union government and what the Union government gave back to Telangana during the last six years.

According to the statement, between 2014-15 and 2018-19, the government of India collected Rs 2,72,926 crore as taxes from Telangana but gave back only Rs 1,12,854 crore to the state. The statement put the balance at Rs 1,60,072 crore.

Replying to a question by a TRS MP in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Sitharaman had said that the Union government released tax devolution funds to the tune of Rs 85,013 crore in six years.

TRS MLA Ch Ramesh is a German citizen: Centre to TS High Court

0

In a jolt to ruling TRS in Telangana, the union ministry of home affairs on Monday submitted a document before the Telangana High Court stating that TRS MLA from Vemulawada, Chennamaneni Ramesh is not an Indian citizen but he is a German citizen.

It stated that Ramesh did not relinquish his German citizenship till date and had even travelled to Germany in December 2019 by using his German passport and made it clear that the usage of the German passport by the petitioner could be a solid evidence to prove that he still possessed the German citizenship.

Following this, the High Court, prima facie, opined that the document produced by the union government was against the MLA and asked him as to why he went to Germany on a German passport while claiming to be Indian citizen.

The court made this order while dealing with the petition filed by Chennamaneni Ramesh urging the HC to set aside the orders issued by the union home ministry declaring him as not an Indian citizen.

The ministry had also stated in its orders that Ramesh had obtained the Indian Citizenship in a fraudulent manner by submitting fictitious and false documents before the ministry.

Arguing the case before the HC, the counsel for Ramesh told the court that he had voluntarily relinquished his German citizenship very long ago. This has prompted the court to ask the petitioner if the German government had accepted his plea to relinquish its citizenship. The court has directed Ramesh to file a detailed affidavit providing information about his German citizenship status and its relinquishment. It later posted the matter to February 24, 2020 for further hearing while extending the stay on the orders of the cancellation of his citizenship by union home ministry.

The controversy over Ch Ramesh’s citizenship was going on since 2008.

He was elected as TRS MLA four times since then.

The ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh and ruling TRS in Telangana have decided to fight against against National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR) in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament starting January 31.

The MPs of YSRCP and TRS, who attended the all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday made it clear that their party leadership has decided to oppose NRC and NPR .

YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy said that his party will rally behind minorities and sought a debate on the issue in Parliament as the information sought in NPR was different than what was asked earlier.

He said there was a sense of unease among minorities in the country after the Citizens Amendment Act was introduced in Parliament. “We will certainly oppose NRC and NPR if they were introduced by the Cabinet. We sought a debate on the issue to clear the insecure feeling among minorities,” he said.

Mithun Reddy said CAA Bill was introduced as an issue related to three other countries and added that way in which it was introduced and the way it is going to be implemented is different. He said Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has asked us to oppose anything that is against the wishes of minorities.

TRS MPs Nama Nageshwar Rao and K Keshava Rao demanded the Centre to withdraw CAA, NPR and NRC in the interests of the country and TRS will raise its voice against NPR and NRC strongly in the Parliament.

3 Ministers and 27 MLAs failed in KCR’s test

0

Three Cabinet Ministers and as many as 27 MLAs in Telangana state have failed in Chief Minister KCR’s test with the poor results in the Urban Local Body (ULB) Polls.

The Chief Minister while addressing a General Body meeting of TRS before launching election campaign for ULB polls at Pragathi Bhavan warned the party leaders on the responsibility of the victory and defeat of the candidates and indirectly said that the results under the jurisdictions of the respective MLAs and Ministers would have progress in their positions.

Following the results of ULB polls on Saturday, the ruling party lost few Municipalities and it got margin results with the hopes of clutching the thrones of few Municipal Corporations with the help of Ex-Officio Member’s votes.

Especially, the TRS had bitter results in the municipalities under Maheshwaram Assembly segment that is being represented by Education Minister Ms. Sabitha Reddy. Similarly, municipalities under Suryapet Assembly segment that is being represented by Minister G.Jagadish Reddy were also lost by the ruling party. In Medchal-Malkajgiri District, though the TRS won in three municipalities, it lost prestigious Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation. Minister Malla Reddy is representing this locality.

Similarly, the TRS’ High Command identified the failure of as many as 27 MLAs in several district. Meanwhile, sources from the TRS said that the MLAs who worked hard in the elections might get places in cabinet in coming future as the Party’s supremo Mr. KCR was impressed very much by them.

TRS sweeps Telangana municipal polls

0

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) swept the municipal elections, capturing power in over 100 out of 120 municipalities and seven out of nine municipal corporations.

Main opposition the Congress was distant second with majority in three municipalities. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won a municipality each.

BJP, which was claiming to emerge as the main opposition after winning four Lok Sabha seats last year, won 223 seats. Interestingly, independents won more seats than the opposition parties in several municipalities.

TS Intelligence Report: TRS to make clean sweep in municipal polls!

0

The counting of votes for the municipal elections in Telangana will be done from 8 AM tomorrow (Saturday) but according to the Telangana Intelligence Department report, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is set to register yet another landslide victory by making a clean sweep of municipalities and municipal corporations.

According to intelligence report, the TRS would make a clean sweep by bagging all the nine municipal corporations as well as 100-plus municipalities out of the 120 that went to polls. In contrast, the opposition parties, all put together, would be confined to a single-digit tally of victories.

The Congress is expected to win just two municipalities (Vaddepally, Nandikonda), AIMIM is expected to win two municipalities (Jalpally, Bhainsa) and BJP is expected to win just a single municipality (Tukkuguda). Field reports suggest that no opposition party in Telangana can come anywhere near TRS.

Out of 129 urban local bodies (ULBs), comprising 120 municipalities and 9 municipal corporations, TRS is expected to win 121 comfortably. The pink party is expected to win another five municipalities with the support of its MPs, MLAs and MLCs, who are ex-officio members and have voting rights in the election of mayors and chairpersons. With this, TRS is bound to win 125 out of total 129 ULBs.

Edge for TRS as Telangana set for municipal polls

0

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is looking to score another electoral victory as it appears ahead of the opposition in the elections to urban local bodies scheduled on Wednesday.

The TRS is confident of scoring yet another electoral victory as the main opposition Congress seems to be in disarray, still reeling under the defections of a dozen MLAs to the ruling party and the defeat in the by-elections to Huzurnagar Assembly seat last year.

A year after retaining power in the state with a landslide victory, winning majority of Lok Sabha seats and sweeping the village, ‘mandal’ (block) and district level polls and also wresting a Assembly seat from the Congress in the by-election, the TRS aims to tighten its grip further by winning majority of seats in 129 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

A total of 12,898 candidates are in fray for 2,727 wards in 120 municipalities and 325 wards in nine municipal corporations. Polling will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in over 7,700 polling stations on Wednesday. Nearly 80 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes.

As many as 59 new municipalities were created last year by upgrading gram panchayats following creation of 23 new districts.

While all 120 municipalities and eight corporations are going to polls on Wednesday, elections for 60-member Karimnagar corporation will be held on January 24.

The corporations going to polls exclude the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as its tenure is not yet over. Ten other ULBs, including Khammam and Warangal corporations, are also not going to polls.

In an indication that the TRS has an edge, its candidates were elected unopposed in 77 wards. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a friendly party of the TRS, also won three wards without contest.

While the TRS is contesting all the wards on its own, AIMIM has fielded candidates in 276 wards.

A confident TRS is seeking the votes on the basis of its performance during last six years. Such is the TRS confidence that its President and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not campaign for the party. His son and TRS working President K. T. Rama Rao addressed a few election meetings in his Sircilla Assembly constituency.

Ministers and MLAs led the campaign in their respective districts. However, the TRS is facing the rebel problems in some ULBs. Rama Rao, however, said such problems were common in a party with large number of aspirants.

Rama Rao, who holds the portfolios of municipal administration, industry and information technology, pointed out that in many wards there were no takers for the Congress and BJP tickets.

Congress state President Uttam Kumar Reddy and other party leaders participated in the campaign. They alleged that TRS has an “undue” advantage as the election schedule and reservation quota was designed in a way to benefit the ruling party.

The Congress leaders, in their campaign, highlighted the failures of the TRS government. They targeted the Chief Minister for various alleged acts of omissions and commissions of the government.

The BJP, which suffered humiliating defeat in Huzurnagar by-election, will be fighting to salvage its pride. After making huge inroads to win four Lok Sabha seats, the party faced a drubbing in Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC polls) and even forfeited its deposit in Huzurnagar.

The party faces a tough task of winning the ULBs falling under four Lok Sabha constituencies represented by it. State BJP President K. Laxman and its MPs campaigned aggressively for the party candidates. They even whipped up the sentiments over Citizenship Amendment Act targeting those opposing it.

Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy also campaigned for the BJP, addressing few election meetings.

AIMIM’s campaign also revolved around the CAA, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). Its President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi led the campaign.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which had stayed away from Lok Sabha polls, fielded candidates in 401 wards. Its state President L. Ramna exuded confidence of the party doing well.

The Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and other smaller parties are also in the fray.

Civic Body Polls: TRS MLAs in ‘Trishanku Swarga’?

0

Following a statement given by the supremo of TRS party Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao during a meeting held here on Thursday, the situation of MLAs from the ruling party has become as like as ‘Trishanku Swarga’ (It was build middle of the earth and the sky by saint Viswamitra for King Trishanku. Later the king didn’t get place in either Swarga Lokha or Bhoo Lokha-Earth).

Mr. KCR said in the meeting that full powers were given to the MLAs from the party in selecting and issuing B-forms to the candidates at Wards and Division level in upcoming Municipal Polls.

The CM also said that the Ministers and MPs would not interfere in the selection of candidates. “Meanwhile, the responsibility of victory is on MLAs. They are also the responsible persons in defeat of the candidates. They are given full powers in selecting candidates in Municipal Elections. MPs, Ministers and other senior leaders will only involve in campaign. All should work for the victory of our candidates once they are announced,” the CM said.

Now, the MLAs are feeling it as a big-task to them among adverse situations in their respective assembly segments. “We felt very happy when the CM gave us full powers in selecting candidates. But, making us responsible for victories and defeats are very big tasks,” an MLA from the ruling party told telugu360.com

Another MLA expressed his worry on how they ask votes from people as they failed in fulfilling their promises that were announced during assembly polls. “We made many promises and did not fulfil a single one due to lack of funds and support from the government. We are seeking the release of MLA development funds since 2018 assembly elections. Public are very angry on us in failing in fulfilling 2Bed Room Houses and other local issues,” the MLA said.

Majority of MLAs are expressing the similar opinion. “The government announced Rs. 540 crore of funds for Assembly Constituent development. Rs. 10 crore was released for the development of Gajwel, Siddipet and Sircilla segments which are represented by the Chief Minister KCR, his nephew Mr. Harish Rao and his son Mr. KTR. Other MLAs did not get the fund. No such funds were released to other assembly segments,” they said.

Another MLA said that majority of legislatures are bound to few routine welfare schemes like CMRF and others. Besides these they are limited their role in laying foundation stones for few works which may never complete in their 5-year term,” he said. The MLAs are asking how they could go before voters seeking votes in municipal elections without making any development.

Rebels’ fear in TRS..!

0

ollowing new joining of leaders from various political parties in TRS under the ‘Operation Akarsh’ in Telangana state in the last few years, now the ruling party is facing Rebels’ Fear during Civic Body polls.

It has become a bit-task to the party’s high command in selecting suitable candidates for Municipal Wards, Municipal Corporation divisions as at least 5 aspirants are existed in each ward and division. Experts are saying that this situation must lead encouraging ‘Rebel’ candidates across the state. “Comparing with other political parties, the TRS will face hard situation in the civic body polls. Even MLAs from the ruling party have already sniffed the future with the huge joining,” they said.

Sources from the ruling party also told telugu360.com that the party’s internal survey too revealed at least 5 strong leaders are existed in each division and ward. “As the party wanted to give tickets and B-Forms to those who are financially well settled, the said leaders are not exempted from this rule and it is becoming a big-task to MLAs to opt suitable candidates by convincing other aspirants who may not get tickets,” they said.

The sources also said that the leaders, who may not get ticket, will be given nominated posts at Mandal, District levels. “But, this idea will work where MLAs are very strong but, not gives fruitful results where MLAs are weak. In such cases, the disappointed leaders may either contest as rebels or from other political parties which will make the winning chances lesser,” they added.

There are several stringent actions on rebels including expelling them from the party but, it may not work before their strong will, the sources said. “If few leaders withdraw their nominations as rebels, there is a doubt that will they support the party’s candidate in elections? There are scopes that they may indirectly work for the opposition candidates. The similar situation was experienced during Assembly polls and few sitting leaders/ministers including Tummala Nageswara Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao faced defeat in the elections,” the sources said.

‘Paisa hi Parmatma’ in Telangana Civic body polls!

0

Upcoming Civic Body elections in Telangana state are said to be costlier and more expansive to the contenders as all the political parties took it as very prestigious.

While the Chief Minister Mr. K.Chandrasekhar Rao, in a recent review meeting held in Telangana Bhavan, had already expressed his desire with the TRS leaders including ministers that the party must win in all municipal bodies and told that it was the responsibility of the leaders. He also warned them that they should work hard in elections in order to protect their positions in the party.

The BJP, which is preparing to get power in the state in 2024 elections, is also focusing seriously on the elections especially at the places where the party’s MPs are existed. Similarly the elections are a question to the Congress party of its existence in the state.

TRS banking on “New Year sentiment” to win municipal polls!

0

The ruling Telangana Rastra Samithi seems to be banking heavily on “New Year sentiment” to win the upcoming municipal polls in Telangana.

The municipal polls are scheduled on January 22 and the results will be announced on January 25.

Whenever elections were held in the very beginning of the New Year, the TRS won them with good majority.

The New Year sentiment for TRS has started with GHMC elections in 2016.

The GHMC elections were held in January 2016. Despite TRS was never a major political force in GHMC limits, it won the GHMC elections with a landslide majority by bagging 99 seats out of 150 seats surprising every one.

The New Year sentiment again worked for TRS in 2019 when gram panchayat polls were held in January 2019. TRS again made a clean sweep of gram panchayat polls.

Now municipal polls are scheduled in New Year 2020 in January.

TRS working president and IT minister KT Rama Rao, who had a chit chat with media today on the occasion of New Year said that “New Year sentiment” had always favoured TRS earlier and he expects the same sentiment to work in favour of TRS again in municipal polls this month.

Can Congress, BJP stop TRS juggernaut in TS municipal polls on Jan 22?

0

The schedule for holding elections for municipalities and municipal corporations in Telangana has been released on Monday (today).

The Telangana State Eelection Commission issued the schedule for conduction elections to 120 municipalities and 10 municipal corporations.

The election notification will be issued on January 7, the polling will be held on January 22 and the results will be declared on January 25.

The TRS has showed its dominance in all the elections held in Telangana since the formation of new state in 2014 by wiping out Opposition parties.

Though it suffered minor setback in Lok Sabha polls in May this year by losing 4 seats to BJP and 3 seats to Congress, it made a clean sweep of gram panchayat and zilla/ mandal parishad elections.

However, the big question being raised now is will the opposition parties will be able to stop the TRS juggernaut from rolling at least now in the urban local bodies elections.

The main tussle in municipal polls will be between TRS, Congress and BJP.

These elections are likely to decide who will emerge as the main opposition or alternative to TRS in Telangana in the run up to the 2023 Assembly polls.

The BJP is trying hard to emerge as alternative to TRS by replacing Congress by winning significant seats in municipal polls.

However, the BJP lacks leaders and cadre in majority of the municipalities in Telangana.

For Congress, it will be a ‘do or die battle’ as if it fails to bag even some of the municipalities, it will be the end for road for grand old party in Telangana.

The ruling TRS has already wiped out Congress by engineering defection of its MLAs and MLCs and make them join TRS.

Velamas & Reddys have ‘balupu’, says TRS MLA!

0

TRS MLA from Mahabubabad constituency Shankar Naik is at it again. The MLA known for his controversial behavior and remarks has once again attracted the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Speaking at a programme in Mahabubabad to distribute gifts to Christians on the eve of Christmas, Shankar Naik made controversial remarks against Velama and Reddy community.

He said people belonging to Velama and Reddy castes have ‘balupu’ (arrogance) and they belittle people belonging to other castes.

Shockingly, TRS supremo and Telangana CM KCR hails from Velama caste.

Naik also said that there are three types of ‘balupus’.

The first one is Velama-Reddy balupu, second one is money balupu and third one is education balupu.

He said these three balupus were ruining the development of state and development of all sections in the society.

Naik’s comments attacking Velamas created a furore in TRS circles.

It remains to be seen how TRS leaders and Velama community reacts to Naik’s comments.

Citizenship Amendment Bill: Is it the end of TRS-BJP ‘secret friendship’?

0

The TRS and BJP are known to be ‘secret friends’ for long. This is because TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao supported BJP-led NDA government on all the crucial issues since 2014.

Be it demonetization or GST announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, election of President, Vice President of India during NDA-I government regime or Reorganisation of Jammu & Kashmir, repeal of Article 370, Triple Talaq bills during NDA-II government, KCR supported all in the Parliament.

But KCR on Monday (today) sprang a surprise by issuing whip to all the TRS MPs to vote against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) introduced by the NDA government in Parliament today.

KCR directed all his party MPs to attend Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha without fail on Monday and Tuesday and vote against the bill, whenever it will be put for voting.

KCR’s decision signals that the ‘secret friendship’ between TRS and BJP has come to an end as he has decided to take on BJP directly in the Parliament for the first time.

The political equations between TRS and BJP have altered since general elections in May 2019.

The BJP shocked TRS by bagging four Lok Sabha seats in TS, the best-ever performance of the saffron party in the state.

Even more shocking for KCR was, the BJP defeating his daughter and sitting MP K Kavitha in Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat and his close aide B Vinod Kumar in Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat. The BJP also wrested Adilabad Lok Sabha seat from TRS, while retaining the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat.

Congress asks TRS government to prove conspiracy charges

0

An affidavit filed by a senior Telangana official in High Court in the case relating to ongoing strike by TSRTC employees has kicked up a row with the Congress party on Sunday demanding evidence to prove the allegation of conspiracy to destablise the government or dismiss the official.

Taking serious note of the affidavit filed by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) in-charge Managing Director Sunil Sharma, state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to Chief Justice to take cognizance of the affidavit, saying it is baseless and full of lies.

Sunil Sharma, who is Principal Secretary (transport), claimed that RTC union leaders appear to have acted with the connivance of opposition parties with oblique motive to destabilize the government. The official made the allegation while urging the court to declare the strike illegal.

Reddy said the officials should reveal at whose instance the affidavit was filed. “This is an extraordinary situation. It is a serious matter. The chief justice should take cognizance of this and order an inquiry by an independent agency,” he said.

The opposition leader said if the government had any evidence of a conspiracy to destablise the government, it should take action. “Arrest us if you have any evidence or dismiss the official from service,” he told Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.

The state Congress chief said he will lodge a complaint with the Department of Personnel and Training of the Government of India against Sunil Sharma.

Reddy, who is also a Member of Parliament, said the party would also raise the issue in the Parliament during winter session beginning Monday.

He said despite the death of 24 striking employees, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has not given up his egoistic attitude.

The indefinite strike by over 48,000 employees of RTC entered 44th day on Sunday.

Though the employee’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) has temporarily dropped the main demand of TSRTC’s merger with the government, the latter has given no indication of any imminent talks to break the impasse. Sunil Sharma said in his affidavit that the employees may again raise the merger demand in future.

High Court will resume hearing on the petitions relating to the case on Monday. At the previous hearing, the division bench headed by Chief Justice R. S. Chauhan refused to declare the strike illegal and at the same time also declined to issue orders to the government to hold talks with the employees.

TRS bigwigs greed for money blamed for lady MRO’s murder!

0

The shocking murder of woman MRO Vijaya Reddy in Abdullapurmet on Hyderabad city outskirts by setting her ablaze right in her office in the broad daylight on Monday is learnt to be the result of greed for money and land of few bigwigs of ruling TRS.

Revenue employees put the blame on a minister and an MLA hailing from erstwhile Ranga Reddy district.

It’s a known fact that there is huge realty boom on city outskirts.

Lands on city outskirts cost few crores of rupees per acre.

With this political bigwigs in nexus with land mafia and local revenue staff attempt to grab valuable lands from others.

Revenue staff say in Abdullapurpet mandal, there are several Inam lands that were gifted by Nizam ruler to few persons for the services rendered by them.

Such Inam lands can be registered in the name of those who are in possession after conducting thorough inquiry whether these lands or Inam lands or not or whether the people who are in possession of those lands were genuine or not.

MRO has the power to conduct the inquiry, registere lands and issue pattadar passbooks for Inam lands.

However, Inam lands were encroached by others over the years and they changed several hands later.

In this backdrop, it is learnt that Suresh, who set MRO ablaze and his relatives have approached a minister and an MLA of ruling TRS seeking registration of Inam lands over an extent of 45 acres on their names.

The minister and MLA is alleged to have taken Rs 25 lakh bribe from them promising regularisation of Inam lands three years ago.

However, the minister and MLA failed to do so and returned Rs 15 lakh to Suresh and his family members saying that it’s not possible to regularise lands as woman MRO officer was very strict.

Though Suresh’s relatives withdrawn attempts for regularisation, Suresh did not leave the issue there. He started making rounds to MRO office regularly and met MRO seeking regularisation. He used to have heated arguments with MRO after she rejected his request.

Suresh felt that MRO was obstructing regularisation and developed grudge against her. He became a psycho and decided to take revenge against MRO with a feeling that she was denying him ownership on 7 acres land which costs several crores of rupees.

He again visited MRO office on Monday with a petrol can in his hand, locked the office room from inside in which MRO was working, had a heated argument with her on regularisation. The MRO made it clear that regularisation was not possible and in a fit of rage he poured petrol on MRO and set her ablaze.

Revenue staff allege that the greed of minister and MLA from TRS has led to murder of innocent and young lady MRO.
