Lokesh invites Radha for talks

0

TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Monday sent an invitation to former MLA Vangaveeti Radha Krishna to meet him on Tuesday. The two leaders are set to meet at the Yuvagalam camp in Pileru Assembly constituency.

The meeting assumes political significance as the media had reported about the plans of Radha Krishna to quit the TDP. A section of the media reported that Radha Krishna was planning to join the Jana Sena and contest the 2024 general election.

Though Radha Krishna had denied the reports and reassured that he would continue to stay with the TDP, his supporters are giving leaks to the social media that the leader is actively considering the idea of joining the Jana Sena. They also say that Radha Krishna had an invitation from Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.

Radha Krishna had joined the TDP before the 2019 general election. He criticised the YSR Congress leadership, particularly Jagan Mohan Reddy for restricting his movements in the party and thus justified his joining the TDP.

He did not contest the 2019 general election, but had campaigned for the party. However, this time, it is widely said that Radha Krishna is planning to contest from the Vijayawada central constituency. He was elected from this constituency in 2004 on Congress ticket and subsequently lost the elections on Praja Rajyam and YSR Congress tickets.

It is now to be seen what would be the outcome of the meeting between Radha Krishna and Lokesh at Pileru. Will Radha Krishna continue in the TDP and will he contest the elections or will he leave the party as speculated are the big questions to be answered after the meeting!

Will Vangaveeti Radha go back to Jana Sena?

1

The politics of former MLA Vangaveeti Radha Krishna have been quite interesting. He has been missing the bus in the eleventh hour, except in 2004, when his father’s friend Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was at the helm.

While late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga had been a successful mass leader, the son turned out to be a failure. Having started his political career at an early age in the Congress, he moved to the Praja Rajyam Party of Chiranjeevi in the 2009 elections. He lost the elections.

After the defeat and subsequent launch of the YSR Congress, Radha moved into the party and was admired by Jagan Mohan Reddy as the two families had a long relationship. But, the journey in the YSR Congress did not take long. He contested from the Vijayawada East Assembly constituency on the YSR Congress ticket in the 2014 elections and lost the battle.

After the defeat in the 2014 elections, he moved away from the YSR Congress and spent a few months as independent leader. Giving a rude shock to the followers of his father, the one-time MLA joined the TDP before the 2019 elections. However, the TDP did not give him a ticket in the elections.

Now, it is said that Radha is looking towards the Jana Sena ahead of the 2024 general elections. Jana Sena political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar had closeted with Radha Krishna in Vijayawada on Friday. The meeting assumed political significance as Radha’s followers leaked the information stating that Radha would soon join the Jana Sena.

Having changed several parties, what influence would Radha have in Vijayawada elections to make any difference is to be seen!

Did Jagan offer MLC post to Vangaveeti Radha?

1

TDP leader Vangaveeti Radha Krishna has been grabbing all the public and media attention for the last two days after he announced that he was facing threat to his life and some politically-motivated persons had conducted a near his house and office recently to kill him.

The YSRCP government soon stepped up his security and provided 2+2 security cover. It’s a different issue that Radha rejected security cover.

However, the whole episode has fuelled speculations that this entire political drama was enacted by Radha and YSRCP with an agenda of Radha quitting TDP to join YSRCP. These speculations gained credence with Radha making these sensational comments about the threat to his life in the presence of YSRCP leaders in a meeting.

Rumour mills are abuzz about YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy offered MLC post to Radha if he quits TDP and joins YSRCP.

Radha was with YSRCP until 2019 Assembly polls. He quit YSRCP and joined TDP ahead of 2019 Assembly polls but did not contest Assembly polls.

It’s an open secret that Radha maintains close relations with YSRCP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamshi and minister Kodali Nani even today. Both these YSRCP leaders are bringing pressure on Radha to quit TDP and join YSRCP and conveyed Jagan’s offer of nominating him as MLC.

TDP chief alleges life threat to Vangeveeti Radha

0

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that if any harm was caused to party leader Vangaveeti Radha, the YSR Congress Party government will be held responsible.

The leader of opposition alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to assassinate Vangaveeti Radha. In a letter to Director General of Police Gautam Sawang, Naidu demanded a transparent investigation into the latest recce conducted on Vangaveeti Radha in Vijayawada.

Radha while participating in the death anniversary of his father Vengaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao on December 26 had claimed that he was facing threat to his life. He said some politically motivated persons did a recce near his house and office.

Ranga, who was a Congress legislator and a powerful leader of Kapu community, was hacked to death while he was on a fast in Vijayawada on December 26, 1988.

Following Radha’s allegation, the state government offered him security but he turned down the same saying that his followers and well-wishers would protect him better.

Chandrababu Naidu, in his letter to the DGP, demanded that stringent action should be taken against those who held the recce with an intention to kill Radha. It was appalling that the law and order situation was deteriorating under the YSRCP’s ‘Goonda Raj’ in Andhra Pradesh, he said.

Naidu said that as stated by Radha, a group of people have been observing his movements and following him everywhere to conduct recce and to attack him. Such illegal acts carried out during broad daylight became the hallmark of the reign of jungle and goonda raj in Andhra Pradesh in the past two and half years, the TDP chief said.

Mohana Ranga was murdered in 1988 when he was on hunger strike, sparking unprecedented violence in Vijayawada and other parts of Krishna as well as neighbouring districts. More than 40 people were killed and property worth over Rs 100 crore was damaged.

The violence abated after then chief minister N.T. Rama Rao made Ranga’s rival and TDP legislator Devineni ‘Nehru’ Rajasekhar surrender. Then home minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao also had to resign.

Incidentally, Ranga had also alleged a threat to his life and went on a fast demanding security when he was hacked to death.

In 2016, filmmaker Ramgopal Verma had made a Telugu movie “Vangaveeti” — based on the feud between the families of Radha and Deveneni ‘Nehru’ Rajasekhar belonging to two different castes and political parties.

Radha had quit YSRCP in 2019 after he was denied ticket from Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency. He later joined TDP.

Are Vangaveeti Radha, Kodali Nani not friends anymore?

0

They were the best of the buddies. They were always seen together and regardless of the party affiliations, they were together. But now the two best friends are no longer seen together. They are not even appearing together in social gatherings. This is the hottest topic of discussion in Krishna district.

Highly placed sources say that all is not well between former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and Minister Kodali Nani. Though Radha kept changing parties, it did not come in the way of their friendship. Nani and Radha were very friendly for years. In fact, Nani, Radha and Vallabhaneni were known to be best friends despite their political differences.

But that appears to have changed now. Radha is touring Gudivada very often these days. But, he is not trying to meet Kodali Nani. During these tours, he is said to be meeting the Kapu community leaders. The Kapus of Gudivada are increasingly going away from Kodali Nani. They have been expressing dissatisfaction over Nani’s style of functioning. Radha meeting these disgruntled people is making news.

Both Radha and Nani are taking care not to cross paths. They are organising their programmes in such a way that both do not meet each other. However, both Radha and Nani have family relations and both the families have the habit of meeting often. Given this, Radha meeting Kapus separately is becoming a hot topic of discussion.

In fact, the third member of the troika, Vallabhaneni too is maintaining a low profile. His political position in Gannavaram is increasingly becoming untenable. He won on TDP ticket, but unofficially switched over to the YSRCP. But, the local YSRCP is not exactly welcoming him.

Radha met Pawan to invite him for Ranga birth anniversary??

0

Vangaveeti Radha, prominent Kapu leader, has been in news during last week because of the speculations about him joining Janasena party. Many expected him to announce some key decision today, on the occasion of birth anniversary of his father late Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga. However, he didn’t make any key statement today except those regular statements about his father’s activities and service.

Meanwhile, there are other rumours doing rounds in political circles that, Radha, in fact, invited Pawan to attend birth anniversary celebrations of Vangaveeti Ranga. It is known news that Radha met Pawan a few days back and that triggered speculations about him turning the coats again. He already worked in several parties like Congress, PRP, YSRCP and TDP. He had close relations with Pawan Kayan earlier. Because of this background, his meeting with Pawan triggered rumours about him joining Janasena. However, as per reports, even though Radha and Pawan discussed political matters during their meet, another thing that happened during their meet is Radha requesting Pawan to attend Ranga’s birth anniversary celebrations this time. It is not known clearly what did Pawan reply for this request but, obviously, he didn’t attend Ranga birth anniversary celebrations today.

However, Ranga and Radha fans, who turned in big numbers today expecting some key announcement from Radha, were a bit disappointed. We will have to wait and see if it is still on cards for Radha to join Janasena or he will continue in TDP itself.

Vangaveeti Radha to join TDP – to contest in MP seat

0

TDP boss N Chandrababu Naidu is coming out with new master plans to retain upper hand on rivals. He is thinking of giving MP ticket to Vangaveeti Radha considering his father late Vangaveeti Ranga’s influence in Kapu community and poorer sections in Godavari districts. Radha’s name is now being considered for either Narsapur or Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituencies where the Kapus are predominant.

If everything goes as per Naidu’s plan, Radha will prove to be a trump card in improving winning chances of TDP candidates in assembly segments as well in both West and East Godavari districts. It will also help in reducing the influence of Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan on the Kapu vote bank.

Especially, in places like Narsapur, politics is changing very rapidly. K.Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who was asking for Narsapur MP ticket from TDP, changed his plan dramatically and joined the YCP in the presence of Jagan recently. Raju may now contest from Narsapur MP seat on YCP ticket. By fielding Radha from here, the TDP wants to polarise the Kapu vote in favour of TDP to ensure its spin-off effect on other segments as well.

Mission 2019- Why Radha wants to defeat Jagan?

1

Former MLA Vangaveeti Radha is on an outright mission for the 2019 election. It’s not to join some party and contest election from his most preferred Vijayawada Central assembly segment. But it’s the strong determination of Radha now to see the defeat of Jaganmohan Reddy. It’s to see that Jagan will not become CM in the coming AP assembly polls.

What has made Radha so angry? He outwardly says that the YCP leader has insulted his father late Vangaveeti Ranga. He shared the same opinion with ex-MP Lagadapati Rajagopal. It’s not yet known why both leaders met. But it’s clear Radha talked about his total hatred for Jagan. He would campaign against Jagan extensively.

Radha has not joined any other party after quitting the YCP. The TDP offered him MLC post. But Radha has not taken any decision yet to take the TDP offer or not. Seeing present political situation, Radha may not contest in assembly polls. His mission clearly is to defeat Jagan for not giving him expected respect in YCP.

Why Jagan did not care about Vangaveeti Radha?

0

Indeed it is a big decision for Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy to allow prominent Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna to resign from the YCP. Such a thing is not advisable in an election year. YCP senior leaders have tried hard to persuade and convince Radha to accept Machilipatnam Lok Sabha ticket. But Radha stuck to his demand for Vijayawada Central assembly segment ticket. Why Jagan did not agree to fulfill Radha’s demand?

Political circles are full rumours that Jagan has got reports from his party sources over how the Kapu vote bank is not going to benefit the YCP in any manner. Initially, it was thought Vangaveeti family could make some difference by bringing Kapu votes in Guntur, Krishna and Godavari districts. As elections are drawing near, there are reports the Kapu voters are polarising between Pawan Kalyan and the Telugu Desam Party.

Sensing this mood in voters, Jagan has even tried to attract backward classes communities in Godavari districts by promising to meet their demands. In such a political scenario, Jagan did not fulfill Radha’s demand as the Vangaveeti family was not going to bring additional advantage right now. Electoral calculations will eventually dictate the political decisions ahead of elections. Now, TDP is trying to win over Radha to gain more strength.

Vangaveeti Radha has to choose between Vijayawada and YSRCP?

0

Will Vangaveeti Radha continue in YSRCP and contest from wherever Jagan asks him to do so? Or will he leave the party to contest from Vijayawada? These are the questions discussed among people of Vijayawada now. Recently on the occasion of Ranga’s death anniversary, reporters asked him about his political future and his future plans. For these questions, Radha couldn’t give any direct answer as Jagan didn’t confirm his ticket yet. All that Radha could say was , ‘Time will answer all the questions’.

Actually Radha won from Vijayawada central in 2004 from Congress party. He lost from PRP from same constituency in 2009. In 2014, he contested on YSRCP ticket from Vijayawada east and lost. Now Jagan has confirmed Vijayawada central ticket to Malladi Vishnu and Vijayawada east to Yalamanchili Ravi. There were news about Jagan suggesting Radha to contest from Machilipatnam as MP, but now as per inside reports, Balasauri will be contesting from this seat on YSRCP ticket. So, Radha has no seat to contest from Vijayawada in YSRCP ticket.

On the other hand, there were also rumors about him joining Janasena and contest from Vijayawada central. However, there is no confirmation yet on this as Radha didn’t get opportunity o meet Pawan yet. But if he puts some serious efforts, he may get a chance to contest from Vijayawada on Janasena ticket. There have also been rumors at some point of time that CBN is willing to join Radha into TDP if he gives commitment. So, now ball is in the court of Radha. He has to choose between Vijayawada and YSRCP. If he wants to continue in YSRCP, he may not get any seat in Vijayawada. But if he can shift loyalties, he may get a seat in Vijayawada.

We will have to wait and see what decision Radha takes.

CM speaks without using common sense: Vangaveeti Radha

0

Vangaveeti Radhakrishna came down heavily on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s comments accusing the YSRCP of creating ‘law and order problems’ in Vijayawada due to internal rift.

He said that Chandrababu failing to understanding the realities of the incidient, is speaking without using common sense. He asked the CM to take action against the policemen for violating Supreme Court Guidelines for dragging his mother who is also former legislator in the absence of women police personnel.

Radha criticised the TDP supremo for commenting on YSRCP instead of taking action for violating norms. He said that the followers and fans of Vangaveeti Ranga were distressed due to the comments of an incompetent person and held that their party immediately took a stand to pacify the followers by suspending Gowtham Reddy. He said YSRCP is not like Chandrababu who cannot take a stand against J C Diwakar Reddy who passes remarks against TDP.

Radha would be knocking the doors of the court on the inaptness of police and added that since his mother Vangaveeti Ratnakumari is member of bar council, they will lodge a complaint in the Bar Association about the misbehaviour of the police.

Devineni era ends in Vijayawada, a remarkable leader in AP politics

Vijayawada: The sudden death of former minister and senior Telugu Desam leader Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru during early hours on Monday had cast a shadow on the State politics, particularly the politics of Vijayawada. A man who had his say in the Vijayawada politics in 1980s was a friend of a few and foe of many. Started his public life as an associate of faction Vangaveeti Radha, both of them as loyalists of the then Communist leader Chalasani Venkata Rathnam, Nehru was active in organising the cycle rickshaw and taxi drivers in the 1980s. Later, he separated from Vangaveeti family and that separation had turned the city into a battle field for one full decade. He lost his two brothers, Gandhi and Murali, in the faction fight with the Vangaveeti family, which also lost its key players, Radha an Ranga in the same period.

Nehru, after separation from Vangaveeti brothers, established United Students Organisation (USO) in Vijayawada and thus made inroads into the colleges in the city capturing the youth. The USO, in just less than one year time, became a big competitor to the Vangaveeti’s United Independents (UI) students wing, in whose formation Nehru and his brothers played crucial role. The city had witnessed the daylight terrifying murders starting from the killing of Vangaveeti Radha, the elder brother of Vangaveeti Ranga, in 1974. The feud took its ugliest turn when the Vangaveeti’s group retaliated Devineni brothers killing Devineni Gandhi in 1979 in a filmy chase. The Devineni family also lost Murali in March 1988 and that followed the death of Vangaveeti Ranga in December 1988.

Nehru swung into active politics in 1982 with the launch of Telugu Desam Party by N T Rama Rao and became MLA in 1983. He was a five-time MLA from Kankipadu Assembly constituency and was a Cabinet Minister for a brief period during N T Rama Rao’s term from 1994 to 1995. He sailed with N T Rama Rao in the 1995 August silent coupe led by N Chandrababu Naidu and stayed with NTR till the later died. He was part of the NTR Telugu Desam Party launched by NTR’s widow Lakshmi Parvathi and had contested to Lok Sabha from Vijayawada in 1996 elections. After his defeat in the elections, he joined the Congress and subsequently became very close to late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Though he had won in the 2004 elections, he could not make it to the Congress cabinet headed by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. However, he lost in 2009 and again in 2014. He had been a staunch critic of Chandrababu Naidu for all these years. However, the return of Chandrababu Naidu to power in the state in 2014 elections had changed the equations. Besides, the crushing defeat of the Congress had also prompted him to return to the TDP along with his son, Devineni Avinash and other supporters.

Nehru is an accused in the cases of Vangaveeti Ranga, Muthyala Sobhanadri, in which he was later acquitted. A man who commanded the district politics once and has a greater following across the State lost his life without achieving his dream of winning the elections once again and seeing his son Avinash becoming MLA.
