Don’t vote for killers, Suneetha asks people

0

Late Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Suneetha on Thursday appealed to the people not to vote for the killers of Vivekananda Reddy. Speaking to the media at Telangana high court, Dr Suneetha said that Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was protecting the killers.

She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had not taken action against those who killed Vivekananda Reddy. On the contrary, Jagan Mohan Reddy was protecting them, she said. She wondered why Jagan Mohan Reddy did not take action to find the truth in the murder in the last five years.

“Do you know what a brother to a sister is? You were expected to help the sister in getting justice done. But you did not help me. Rather you were speaking against me and attributing motives to me,” Dr Suneetha said. She alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was blaming her for seeking justice.

She took strong exception to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s speech in Kadapa district the other day. She said that people of Kadapa, the God and even Jagan Mohan Reddy knew who killed Vivekananda Reddy. She wondered what was stopping Jagan Mohan Reddy from punishing the killers.

She recalled that Jagan Mohan Reddy sought CBI enquiry into the murder when he was in opposition. However, after coming to power, the same Jagan Mohan Reddy stopped the CBI from investigation. She alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was blocking the CBI in taking action against those who killed Vivekananda Reddy.

She asked the people not to vote for Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party for protecting the killers. She wanted the people to be judicious in casting their vote in the coming general election. She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was asking votes from the people without allowing the CBI to find the real culprits in the murder.

Dr Suneetha said that the actual killers have named Y S Bhaskara Reddy and Y S Avinash Reddy as the conspirators. She wondered why Jagan Mohan Reddy was protecting them and stopping the CBI from arresting the two leaders. She also alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was seeking votes for Avinash Reddy who conspired against Vivekananda Reddy and killed him.

Supreme Court quashes Viveka murder accused bail plea

0

The Supreme Court on Monday quashed the bail petition of Sunil Yadav, one of the accused in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy. The court said that the safety of the witnesses is important and hence the bail was rejected.

The advocate for Sunil Yadav told the court that the CBI had filed the chargesheet and it was not required for the accused to stay in the jail. He also said that it was against the freedom of individuals under Article 21.

However, the CBI counsel argued that the investigation is in progress and it was not advisable to release the accused at this stage. The CBI counsel also told the court that the accused has the potential to influence the witnesses and divert the investigation.

The Supreme Court was convinced with the CBI counsel’s argument and said that it was more important to protect the witnesses than looking at the freedom of the individual.

The CBI is investigating into the case and has questioned Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, twice so far. The CBI is also said to be planning to question Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy in connection with the case.

The CBI in its earlier affidavit said that Anil Yadav visited Avinash Reddy’s house on the day of Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. The CBI also said that Vivekananda Reddy was mounting pressure on the family for the Kadapa Lok Sabha ticket for him or to the family members.

At the same time, Avinash Reddy was also planning to contest the elections, the CBI said, indicating that the political plans could have been the reason for the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

CBI questions Jagan’s OSD in Vivekananda murder case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday questioned Krishna Mohan Reddy, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

The central agency also quizzed Naveen, who works in the house of the chief minister.

The CBI officials questioned the duo for six-and-a-half hours in Kadapa.

The federal agency had issued notice to Krishna Mohan Reddy and Naveen on the basis of call data of Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy.

The CBI officials are understood to have questioned the duo as to what had happened on the day when Vivekananda Reddy was murdered. They collected information about phone calls made or received by them.

Last week, the CBI questioned Avinash Reddy, who is a cousin of the chief minister. He was grilled for more than four-and-a-half hours.

Vivekananda Reddy, paternal uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found murdered mysteriously at his residence at Pulivendula in Kadapa district on March 15, 2019, a month ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The 68-year-old former state minister and former MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him. He was killed hours before he was to launch the YSR Congress Party’s election campaign in Kadapa.

Though three Special Investigation Teams (SITs) conducted the probe, they failed to solve the mystery.

The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.

The CBI filed a chargesheet in the murder case on October 26, 2021, and followed it up with a supplementary chargesheet on January 31, 2022.

In November last year, the Supreme Court transferred to a CBI court in Hyderabad the trial and probe into the larger conspiracy behind the murder.

The apex court observed that doubts raised by Sunitha Reddy about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh were reasonable.

CBI serves fresh notice on Kadapa MP in Vivekananda murder case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has again served notice to Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy, directing him to appear before it on January 28 for questioning in his uncle and former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

Avinash Reddy, a cousin of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been asked to appear before CBI officials in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on January 28.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP was earlier directed to appear on January 24. He, however, had conveyed his inability to appear on the day due to his busy schedule in Pulivendula and has sought another day.

In a letter to CBI, the MP had assured full cooperation in the investigation. He had said on Tuesday that due to pre-scheduled programmes, he had sought four to five days time to appear before the CBI. “I am prepared to answer any questions they may ask. The next time they serve notices to me, I shall present myself before the CBI for questioning,” he had said.

The Lok Sabha member said during the last two-and-half years there had been attempts for his character assassination by linking him and all those close to him with the Viveka murder case. He alleged that a section of the media hell-bent on spreading false propaganda against him. He hoped that truth would eventually prevail in the case.

Gangi Reddy’s bail plea referred to TS high court

0

The Supreme Court on Monday referred the bail petition of prime accused in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy to the Telangana State high court. The court heard the petition by Gangi Reddy challenging the cancellation of his bail by the Andhra Pradesh high court.

As the case of the CBI investigation into the murder was referred to the Telangana high court, the Apex court said that the bail petition too to be heard by the Telangana high court. The court further told the Telangana high court to “consider, decide and dispose of the application.”

It may be mentioned here that the CBI, which is investigating into the case, had challenged the bail given to Gangi Reddy by the Chittoor court. The high court upheld the district court’s order and quashed the CBI’s application for cancellation of the bail.

The CBI then moved the Supreme Court challenging the AP high court’s decision. The supreme court had set aside the AP high court’s order and referred the case to the Telangana high court for review of the bail granted to the accused and the petition filed by the CBI seeking cancellation of the bail.

The supreme court felt that the AP high court had “not at all considered on merits the application for cancellation of the bail, the matter is to be remitted to the high court for considering the said application afresh in accordance with the law.”
