The Hyderabad High Court suspended the order of Union Home Ministry cancelling the orders of Indian Citizenship of TRS legislator Chennamaneni Ramesh. Justice Challa Kodandaram who was hearing the petition filed by the Vemulawada MLA on Monday, said that the centre violated Indian Citizenship Act and Article 14 of the Constitution.
Chennamaneni in his argument putforth that he was granted citizenship by Germany in 1993 but since he was in Karimnagar district for serving the people, Centre granted him Indian citizenship in 2007.
Adi Srinivas who contested and lost 2014 elections against Chennamaneni, took up the issue of citizenship with Centre.
