The sudden visit of leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to console victims and known the circumstances led to the ghastly bus accident reported early this morning, near Vijayawada, makes officials nervous. Their alleged attempt to water down the `irregularities’ that are likely to surface in this regard, raising many suspicions.

It may be recalled that 11 persons were killed and many more injured when a private bus fell off a bridge into a canal in Krishna district. The bus heading to Hyderabad from Bhubaneswar hit a bridge divider and plunged through the gap between the two lanes into the canal near Mollapadu.

As the Volvo bus met the accidents belonging to Diwakar Travels, owned by Anantapur TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy’s family, Jagan’s visit evoked political uproar. Lot of tension prevailed at Nandigama Government Hospital, when TDP workers tried to intrude into the room, where Jagan was trying to speak with doctors. TDP workers given slogans asking `Jagan go back’.

Recalling that last year, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani’s owned bus was met with accident, Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that TDP MPs buses are involving in frequent accidents, as they are not bothered to follow rules. He wondered that the officials are unable to answer him whether the bus met with accident is a `contract carrier’ or a `stage carrier’

He also wondered to find that officials are about to dispatch the dead body of the bus driver without conducting post-mortem to know whether he was in drunken stage or not. He also suspicious over presence of second driver in the bus. As the accident was held on a six-way road and there are no chances of vehicles coming from opposite direction, Reddy alleged the accident was mostly likely due to drunken stage of the driver.

Officials seemed to be scared with Jagan’s visit and abruptly shifted bus that met with accident from the spot, before Jagan’s arrival. The police also allegedly forced the relatives of the deceased to take the bodies and leave the place, before YSRCP chief reached that place. YSRCP leaders alleged that the TDP government attempted all possible ways to cover up falsies
