Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department submitted its report to Assembly speaker Kodela Shiva Prasad on Monday regarding the leakage of water in Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s chamber. It may be recalled that rain water flooded the chambers of Leader of the Opposition in the Interim Government Complex (IGC) at Velagapudi in Amaravati on June7. Anticipating sabotage, Speaker ordered an inquiry by CID and asked them to submit a report.

CID in its report stated that there were no structural defects in the construction of the building. The water seeped through the PVC pipe covering the AC communication cable that passes from the outer unit to the chamber. CID in its report said that additional probe is needed to understand how the PVC pipe got opened.

The leakage took a form of a political issue with the ruling party suspecting foul play by the opposition party. YSRCP attributed the leakage to inferior standards of construction.

It may be noted that on July18, water leaked again in the chambers of Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Human Resources Minister (HRD) Ganta Srinivasa Rao located in the fourth block. The ceiling of their chambers and that of Stamps and Registrations department came off leading to discharge of water from the roof. Officials were instructed to take corrective steps to avoid such leakages in future.
