Jagan’s new cabinet after Sri Rama Navami

0

It is almost final that AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would revamp his cabinet only after Sri Rama Navami that falls on April 10. The day after Sri Rama Navami, Monday April 11, is considered most auspicious.

It was initially said that Jagan would revamp his cabinet after Ugadi on April 2. The day is Telugu New Year day and is good to begin any new thing. As Jagan is starting the functioning of the new districts in the state on the same day, it was said that he would also have his new team both in the party and in the cabinet from that day.

But as per the information coming out from the Tadepalli camp office of the chief minister, Jagan had set April 11 as the day to have his new team in the cabinet. Sources say that he would be changing at least 20 ministers from the existing cabinet. He initially planned to have a completely new cabinet but for different reasons, he is likely to retain two to three ministers and have new faces for the rest of the cabinet.

The chief minister is also planning to engage the outgoing ministers for the party work in the districts. While those in the cabinet would be working for the government, those who would be dropped would have to work for the party preparing the rank and file for the 2024 general elections.

Jagan had already told his party MLAs about his plans for the 2024 general elections and asked them to gear up for the bigger battle. He is said to have also conducted secret surveys in all 175 assembly constituencies and have those reports with him now.

He is said to be planning to make the changes to the cabinet and the party based on these reports. He is also said to have initiated meeting the legislators individually and communicating with them his views on the 2024 elections.

Jagan, KCR ‘secret deal’ on Krishnapatnam, AP Bhavan!

0

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet’s recent decision to sell Krishnapatnam, power plant to private players created a furore in political circles.

This is because AP government cannot unilaterally sell this plant to private players. It needs Telangana government’s approval for this because TS Genco has 27 per cent stake in Krishnapatnam power plant.

The rest 51 per cent stake is held by AP Genco,4 per cent by AP government and 18 per cent by AP Discoms.

Then how did AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy decide to sell of Krishnapatnam power plant? is the question being debated in political circles.

Speculations are rife that Jagan already secured the approval from Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao in this regard and that’s why he went a step ahead to sell the Krishnapatnam power plant.

It is speculated that Jagan and KCR have entered into a ‘secret deal’ on this issue.

KCR agreed to Jagan’s proposal to sell off Krishnapatnam plant. In return, KCR asked Jagan to handover AP Bhavan in Delhi to Telangana government for which both TS and AP governments are fighting for the last eight years.

Jagan reportedly agreed to leave AP Bhavan to Telangana if Centre allocates equired land in Delhi to AP government to construct its own AP Bhavan.

The existing AP Bhavan in Delhi is being shared by AP and TS governments since 2014. The bifurcation of AP Bhavan could not happen as both the state governments are not keen to leave the building to another.

Jagan using divisions among employees union to delay PRC, fitment

0

It seems the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh is lucky. Despite empty state coffers and belligerent employees unions, it is able to stall the implementation of the PRC and the fitment for quite some time.  Clever negotiation by the officials and the differences between the unions seem to be helping the AP Government.

The PRC stand-off is already into its third week  and the government has held several rounds of meetings, but did not yield anything substantial. The government has managed to keep the employees unions at bay. Though it is holding meetings, it has not yielded any quarter. It is using Christmas vacations and other opportunities to the fullest and is delaying the announcement of the PRC.

Sources say that the differences among the employees unions too have come handy for the government. There are at least three major groups – one group led by the AP JAC led by Bandi Srinivasa Rao and Bopparaju, the second group by Secretariat Employees Union led by Venkatrami Reddy and the third by government employees association leader Suryanarayana.  These three groups are working at cross purposes giving an opportunity to the government to manipulate them and bide time.

The Jagan Government and its smart negotiator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy are said to be using the faultlines among the employees to full advantage. Using these differences, the government has so far delayed taking a final decision on the issue of PRC and fitment.

Why Jagan is in a rush to create new districts in AP ?

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be in a rush to create new districts in the state.

The deadlines fixed by Jagan for officials all of a sudden to start the process for creation on new districts shocked officials.

Jagan wants officials to complete ground work on creation of new districts before January 2022.

This means that just one month (December) is left for officials to meet the deadline.

Creation of new districts in AP was decided by Jagan in 2020. But the CM ignored to take this initiative forward for the past one one and half year.

Now all of a sudden he wants officials to complete the ground work in a month.

Officials informed him that districts cannot be increased unless the Census is conducted by the Centre.

The Centre announced to conduct Census from January 2022 though it was supposed to start in 2020 which was halted due to Covid pandemic.

Despite this, Jagan asked them to complete ground work like issuing draft notifications on new districts, their boundaries and conduct public hearing in a month.

Jagan wants districts in AP to de doubled from 13 to 26 although he earlier stated that districts will be increased to 25 based on 25 parliamentary constituencies.

But why this hurry? Political circles say Jagan wants to increase districts in his first term as CM itself like CM KCR did in Telangana in his first term by increasing districts from 10 to 33.

Even if Jagan retains power in 2024 Assembly polls or not, Jagan wants to establish his mark in Andhra Pradesh forever by increasing
districts which subsequent governments will also need to follow.

Jagan focuses on relief measures, braces for more cyclonic trouble

0

With Andhra Pradesh brought to its knees by one of the heaviest rainfall and and flooding in recent years, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday instructed officials to be liberal and humane towards flood victims and ensure 25 kg of rice, 1 kg of daal, 1 kg of cooking oil, 1 kg of onion, 1 kg of potato and Rs 2,000 are provided to each affected family.

The official death toll due to floods has been pegged at 34 and 10 persons were reported missing till Monday.

Crops in eight lakh hectares have been damaged as per preliminary investigations while crop enumeration will be taken up once floods recede.

Taking stock of relief measures initiated by the state government through video conference on Monday, the chief minister said that every inundated household should receive compensation, and added that better facilities should be provided for those in relief camps.

State government officials have been instructed to provide compensation of Rs 95,100 and sanction a new house to those who lost their homes while Rs 5,200 is to be paid to those whose houses are partially damaged due to floods.

With the death of large number of livestock, measures are being taken to prevent the spread of diseases due to carcasses. The officials have also been told to focus on health of livestock and take up measures like vaccination on a war footing, an official said.

The state government has decided to start crop enumeration and to supply seeds at 80 percent subsidy and focus on ponds, other reservoir and embankments.

With yet another low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, said to be heading south of Tamil Nadu, CM Reddy has directed the officials to be on high alert and be prepared to face more tough situations.

Will Amit Shah obliges Naidu’s request, sends central forces to AP?

0

The series of attacks by YSRCP activists on TDP offices and houses of TDP leaders in Andhra Pradesh in broad daylight on Tuesday (today) has created a furore across the country.

The YSRCP activists went on a rampage and damaged the properties of TDP and TDP leaders while the police remained mute spectators.
The incidents have become a subject of heated debate even in national media which telecasted the visuals of ‘goonda raj in AP’.
With no belief in AP police under Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy regime, TDP chief and former CM N.Chandrababu Naidu called up union home minister Amit Shah over phone and sought protection from YSRCP.
Naidu explained to Amit Shah about ‘goonda raj in AP under YSRCP regime and sought immediate deployment of central security forces as they have no belief in AP police.
Amit Shah reportedly told Naidu that he will seek a report on attacks from the AP Chief Secretary and AP DGP and take appropriate action.
Shah asked Naidu to submit evidence on attacks on TDP offices and properties of TDP leaders by YSRCP activists.
But doubts arise over whether Amit Shah obliges Naidu’s request and deploys central security forces as Naidu is no more in the good looks of Modi and Shah since 2018 when he snapped ties with NDA and worked to form a united front with Congress and regional parties against Modi during 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Since then, Jagan became closer to Modi and Shah.

Jagan complains to Modi against TS Govt on Krishna water row!

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy dashed off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat late on Thursday complaining against Telangana government for unilaterally taking up hydel power generation at Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects by diverting Krishna water.

Jagan requested Modi to deploy CRPF forces and take control of these dams since TS government has deployed heavy police force and preventing AP officials to discharge their duties.

Jagan urged Modi to take steps to stop hydel power generation immediately. He expressed concern that Rayalaseema, Prakasam, Nellore districts in AP and Chennai will be worst affected if TS government takes up hydel power generation despite low water levels in dams.

Jagan said TS government’s moves are not good for relations between AP and TS.

Jagan requested Modi to see that TS government takes up hydel power generation only with the permission of KRMB.

He complained that TS government is taking up hydel power generation ignoring KRMB orders.

Andhra CM condoles Indo-Pak war veteran’s death

0

The nonagerian war hero who was suffering from health issues, passed away in Tirupati on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, on February 18, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy had felicitated him at his hometown of Tirupati, as part of the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebration of the Indian armed forces.

Why I call Jagan ‘murkhapu Reddy’? Lokesh explains

1

TDP MLC Nara Lokesh strongly objected to CM Jaganmohan Reddy not positively responding to his 48-hour deadline for cancelling the 10th class examinations. The CM is looking after only his comfort and safety by hiding in his Tadepalli residence without coming out to look at the problems of the people. He is holding review meetings there, calling all officers there himself and maintaining a huge Covid preventive distance between them.

Lokesh said that the Chief Minister is not realising how it would not be possible to accommodate even 6 students in a single room to write the exams by maintaining 6 ft safe distance. The WHO guidelines clearly mentioned the need for a safe distance. The Tadepalli CM was not realising that the examination centres were going to be the super spreaders of the virus. Over 80 lakh students, parents, teachers, auto and bus drivers would be exposed to the dreaded virus because of the Government’s adamant decision.

Mr. Lokesh further explained why he has been calling this Chief Minister a ‘murkhapu Reddy’ (adamant Reddy). All other States have either cancelled or postponed the examinations but the AP CM was different. Now, he was more adamant than ever on conducting the exams just because ‘Nara Lokesh’ has started the movement for the safety of the students. What this CM wants is only his personal prestige and political vendetta but not the safety and security of the children. The TDP would not keep silent and it would hold another ‘digital town hall’ to decide whether to start a legal battle against the Jagan regime or not.

Andhra Guv, CM greet new CJI Justice Ramana

1

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday congratulated Justice N.V. Ramana on becoming the new Chief Justice of India (CJI).

“Congratulations to Justice N.V. Ramana on being sworn in as the Chief Justice of India,” said Reddy.

Similarly, Harichandan also greeted the newly-appointed CJI.

“I along with the people of Andhra Pradesh extend my congratulations and hearty felicitations to Justice Ramana who has been sworn in as the 48th CJI,” said Harichandan.

He also prayed to Lord Jagannath and Venkateshwara to shower their blessings on Ramana and enhance the judiciary’s honour and dignity.

Ramana hails from Ponnavaram village in the state’s Krishna district.

High Court to hear plea for cancelling Jagan bail

2

It seems confirmed that the personal battle of rebel MP Raghu Rama Raju with CM Jaganmohan Reddy has reached a point of no return. His petition for cancellation of Jagan Reddy’s bail came up for hearing in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh today. Rajugari lawyer argued that the Chief Minister was the main accused in over 11 cases. Hence, it was required to cancel his bail so that Mr. Jagan Reddy would be able to prove his innocence and emerge clean from the corruption cases.

RRR has been saying that he is asking for speedier trial of Jagan cases for the sake of removing bad name for their party. After hearing the arguments, the High Court postponed next hearing on April 27. The court said that it would first hear the arguments from both sides on whether the bail cancellation plea should be admitted or not.

There is no doubt that the Jagan loyalists have hurt RRR’s ego very badly. For several weeks, the rebel MP has been swearing his revenge. Living up to his warnings, Rajugaru has filed petition for cancelling Jagan bail which was not initially accepted for lack of documents. Now, the petition is formally taken up.

Political circles say that if RRR’s petition is admitted in the High Court, then it would push the CM into a tight spot. The arguments on this would also get wide media attention since bail cancellation would eventually trigger far reaching political consequences for AP.

Jagan mourns death of veteran Telugu journalist K. Amarnath

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of veteran journalist K. Amarnath.

“His viewpoint during television debates was highly appreciated by all,” said Reddy as he conveyed condolences to Amarnath’s bereaved family members.

The 69-year-old scribe was admitted in NIMS hospital in Hyderabad and succumbed there to Coronavirus. He is survived by his wife and son.

Born in Mamuduru village of West Godavari district, Amarnath initially started his career as a staff member in the UPSC, which he quit after a decade to join the desk in Telugu daily Andhra Bhoomi.

He retired in 2010 as a news editor in the same daily and later went on to work as a special correspondent and assistant editor in Hans India.

Besides journalism, Amarnath was a leading personality of working journalists’ union movement in the country for about 40 long years.

He fought for the profession of journalism, rights and welfare of journalists and the freedom of press.

The veteran journalist is known for his ‘never accept defeat’ attitude and made a mark in the Press Council of India (PCI), where he was a member for two terms, representing the Indian Journalists Union (IJU).

While heading a PCI committee on attacks against journalists, Amarnath extensively toured across the country and submitted detailed reports, making out a case for a separate statute for working journalists’ safety.

He also served as the president of AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) for one term in the undivided state, including serving as the secretary for three terms.

Several senior journalists from the Telugu states paid tributes to the departed journalist, including AP CM’s national media adviser Devulapalli Amar.

Jagan credits Rs 128 cr to 6 lakh farmers under loan scheme

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday credited Rs 128.4 crore into the bank accounts of 6.2 lakh farmers under YSR Zero Interest Crop Loan Scheme for the 2019-20 rabi season.

These farmers earlier availed loans of up to Rs 1 lakh and repaid them in the stipulated time.

“Sixty per cent of the world’s population is dependent on agriculture and promoting agriculture would create employment for 62 per cent of the population in the state,” said Reddy as he transferred the funds.

The chief minister said that the state government’s objective is to prioritise farmers’ and farm labourers’ welfare and cleared the pending arrears left by the previous government.

Since the time the government led by Reddy came into being in June 2019, a total of Rs 1,132 crore was paid to 61.2 lakh people under the zero interest subsidy scheme.

The CM urged farmers to enroll in the e-crop database to avail interest free subvention from June 2021.

Likewise, he said that the government is providing nine hours free power to farmers during the day, benefiting 18.7 lakh farmers at an expenditure of Rs 8,800 crore annually.

“Through this scheme, each farmer will be saving a minimum of Rs 46,000 every year. The government has completed capacity building of feeders to provide free power to farmers with a cost of Rs 1,700 crores,” Reddy noted.

Reiterating that farmers’ welfare is the top priority of the state government, Reddy stated that almost all the promises given to farmers have been fulfilled in the 22-month governance under various schemes.

Why Jagan govt is keen on holding exams despite Covid?

1

All the major exams in the entire country were either postponed or cancelled due to the rapid spread of coronavirus.

Nationally reputed boards like CBSE, ICSE have announced cancellations of Class 10th board exams while postponing the Class 12th board exams.

States like Tamil Nadu have cancelled Class 10th, 12th board exams.

Several other states in the country including neighbouring Telangana have cancelled SSC exams and postponed Intermediate exams.

But the Jagan government in Andhra Pradesh is adamant about conducting SSC, Intermediate exams as scheduled in May despite the state witnessing an increasing number of Covid positive cases day after day.

16 States in the country including Telangana have imposed Covid restrictions like night curfew, weekend lockdown, partial lockdowns etc to contain Covid spread.

But there is no action from the AP government.

No one knows why Jagan government is insisting on holding SSC and Inter exams in May in these deadly corona conditions.

Health experts advise Jagan government to either cancel or postpone exams as holding exams to over 10 lakh students at this stage will fuel corona cases in AP further and the situation may go out of control.

However, there is no response from AP government so far. The AP education minister A Suresh continues to make statements that the SSC and Inter exams will be held as scheduled creating panic among lakhs of students and their parents.

Pawan, Lokesh urge Jagan to cancel 10th exams

2

All over the country, the State Governments and the Central boards have cancelled the 10th class examinations. Even the CBSE and the ICSE have cancelled this. The KCR Government in Telangana has also taken a similar decision already. But, the Jaganmohan Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh has followed a different path. It has cancelled classes and exams for classes up to 9th only.

The 10th class students would have to attend the schools as before. They would also have to take exams physically to get final certificates. This is what has angered Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan and TDP former Minister Nara Lokesh. They both straightaway demanded CM Jagan to cancel 10th classes immediately without further causing any problems for the students and their parents.

The AP Government is under the opinion that there would be no major virus threat if classes are run only for the 10th class students. This would be possible because the classes would be held following social distancing norms. There would be only 10th class students in every school. But the TDP and the Jana Sena are arguing where is the need for taking risk when the Coronavirus is spreading chaos everywhere.

The second wave is proving to be a far worse threat than even the first wave infections. Already, large scale infections are being reported in schools, offices, work places and parties. Amid this, the Corona preventive measures being taken by the Jagan Reddy regime are facing political criticism from opponents.

Jagan plan to use Amul to beat Heritage, Sangam

3

One of the main missions of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is to remove the control of one particular caste on the dairy industry in the coastal region. At the same time, the CM’s singular target is to hurt Heritage that belongs to the Chandrababu Naidu family. As part of this, the Gujarat-based Amul Industry was brought to Andhra Pradesh and it has opened its shops at many places in the State already.
In yet another step towards hurting local dairy farms, the Chief Minister is going to inaugurate procurement of milk by Amul. Once started, this is going to change the overall scene in rural areas. The so-called Sangam, Vijaya Milk and such local dairies are expected to suffer heavily.

The Sangam Dairy has long been operating in Guntur district and other places. It has got loyal suppliers of milk in the rural areas in the coastal belt. They are confident that their customers will not shift to Amul that easily.

Whatever, the milk procurement is also going to become a matter of political interest from now on. There are fears that pressure will be there on the dairy farmers from the volunteers to patronise and supply their milk to Amul.

Also, the CM has given indications already that Amul would pay a greater rate to the farmers than the existing dairy farms.

Jagan tells officials to give 6 lakh vaccine doses daily

0

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has set new targets for the health department and the staff of Grama Secretariats to effectively tackle Covid second wave. He lauded the efforts of the officers and staff for creating a record by giving 6.21 lakh vaccine doses in a single day on Wednesday. This could be possible only with the collective efforts and coordination of one and all in the respective departments.

In view of the rising virus threat, the Chief Minister has asked the officials and the staff concerned to ensure continuation of 6 lakh vaccine doses daily for the next few days. This should be carried out with determination in order to cover all those above 45 years of age under the vaccination drive.

Mr. Jagan has reviewed the Coronavirus prevention and vaccination programmes being taken up in the State. He stressed the need for making all the necessary arrangements in the hospitals. A hospital bed should be provided to any infected patient within three hours of making a call. The lack of sufficient number of hospital beds gave a lot of problems to the patients during the first wave of the epidemic.

The CM has asked for giving wide publicity to 104 health services. Ambulance should be provided to the patients even at a short notice.

Now, Jagan to assess the performance of IAS, IPS officers!

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is grabbing all the powers one after the other.

In the latest orders issued by the AP government on Saturday, it was mentioned that the CM will assess the performance of IAS and IPS officers working in the state henceforth.

Normally, Chief Secretary has the powers to assess the performance of IAS and IPS officers.

However, the AP government on Saturday amended service rules of All India Service (AIS) officers like IAS, IPS officials.

The CM’s performance report will now be the basis for promotions to IAS and IPS officers.

Even for sending IAS, IPS officers for central deputation, the CM’s performance report will be the basis.

With this, all IAS and IPS officers in Andhra will now have to strive hard to be in the good looks of Jagan to get promotions or central deputations.

Surprisingly, Jagan has exempted Governor’s secretary from his purview.

Jagan promises MLC seat for Rama Subba Reddy

1

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has promised MLC seat to Ponnapureddy Rama Subba Reddy.

Rama Subba Reddy was TDP MLA from Jammalamadugu constituency in Kadapa district until 2019.

However, he quit TDP to join YSRCP in March 2020.

But his entry has created a rift in YSRCP in Jammalamadugu constituency with sitting MLA Sudheer Reddy strongly opposing it.

Subba Reddy on Friday (today) met YS Jagan along with Jagan’s advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy to discuss about his political future.

In the meeting, Jagan promised MLC seat to Subba Reddy very soon while making it clear that sitting MLA Sudheer Reddy will again contest as YSRCP candidate from Jammalamadugu in 2024 Assemly polls.

Jagan also told him that if reorganisation of Jammalamadugu constituency will be taken up in future, it will become two Assembly constituencies, then he will give ticket for both Sudheer Reddy and Subba Reddy.

Subba Reddy felt convinced with Jagan’s promise and assured to work for strengthening YSRCP in Kadapa district.

Jagan’s comprehensive land survey, a non-starter

1

Andhra Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy launched a comprehensive land survey amid much fanfare in December 2020.

At that time, Jagan announced that his government will complete land survey using modern technology within two years and resolve all land ownership disputes and make Andhra Pradesh, a ‘land dispute free state’.

He said state government will issue new pattadar passbooks and provide dispute-free ownership rights to all landowners.

However, after four months, there is no progress in the survey.

Worse still is, even the preliminary survey could not be completed in Krishna district so far, which has been selected for the pilot project.

Only one survey drone was allotted for the survey in the district.

Even this drone crashed due to a technical glitch. The government failed to allot another drone. With this, the survey came to a halt.

Krishna district was divided into three parts for the survey to cover 1,005 villages in 53 mandals. In the first phase, 332 villages were identified.

The target was to complete each phase in six months. However, not even village maps were prepared in the last four months.
