The much anticipated Cabinet expansion has been done without much fanfare and new Ministers have been allocated portfolios. While CM Revanth Reddy and Congress High Command, sprang up a surprise with the choices of new Ministers, the allocation of portfolios to them, has amused everyone even more.
All the three new Ministers are considered as light-weights and accordingly they have been allocated portfolios. G Vivek got Mines and Labour portfolios. Vakiti Srihari got Sports and Animal Husbandry portfolios. Adluri Laxman got SC Welfare, Tribal Welfare and Minorities Welfare.
There were heated debates in political circles and speculations within Congress groups that there might be shuffling of Ministries between existing Ministers. Especially everyone thought that CM Revanth Reddy may part with either Education or Municipal portfolios during this Cabinet expansion, to facilitate better governance.
But CM Revanth Reddy has ensured that key portfolios of Home, Education, Municipal Administration and Urban Development stayed with him. This ensured that, like in the case of Cabinet expansion, even the allocation of Ministries, failed to create any new josh in Congress cadres or government staff.
But, one important take away from the Cabinet expansion is, the proof of CM Revanth Reddy’s influence with Congress High Command. By letting three key Ministries stay with CM, even after one and half year tenure, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi gave clear indication that he trusts Revanth Reddy completely.
