Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made a key announcement in the legislative assembly today during the ongoing monsoon sessions while talking about the flagship water management system across the state. He strongly asserted that the diaphragm wall construction would be completed by December 25th this year at any cost. He also said Polavaram project would be completed by December 2027. He reiterated that water will be diverted to Vamshadara in Uttarandhra through Sujala Sravanthi project and stated that it will be linked with Polavaram right canal.
Naidu remarked that there will be no question of Andhra Pradesh experiencing a drought like situation in any area if water resources are managed efficiently. He underscored the need to increase the levels of groundwater and directed officials to take steps in that direction to realise the goal. He remained optimistic about storing 700 TMCs of groundwater by effective administration and management. Chandrababu took pride in his own achievement by referring the monumental task of taking water to his home turf Kuppam constituency.
Taking potshots at the previous regime over its negligence and irresponsible decisions on Polavaram which resulted in damage of diaphragm wall, he said his government spent 400 Crores for the same during the previous tenure. Chandrababu further revealed that his government spent 13000 Crores for completing Handri Neeva project through which 40 TMCs of water. He also stated that six reservoirs in this route were completed and the damaged gates of Thungabhadra were repaired and the Srisailam spillway will be completed very soon.
Chandrababu hit out at YSRCP for flouting NGT norms while taking up works relating to pre balancing reservoirs in Chittoor district. He said the government was fined 25 Crores by the Court..
