Mission anti-Governor: Chandrababu show in Delhi

0

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is all out for a do-or-die battle with the Centre on the issue of AP Governor Narasimhan’s extra constitutional activities. Naidu is leaving for Delhi today to hold discussions with national level leaders who include Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Bennerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and some top Congress leaders.

Naidu is very furious over Governor taking authority into his hands by talking directly to DGP and revenue officials to submit a report to Centre on the Jagan fan attack at Vizag airport. AP CM is of the opinion that the Jagan fake attack and Governor’s over enthusiasm are part of the greater conspiracy by BJP to remove TDP government in AP on some pretext or other. Modi government at the Centre is eagerly waiting for breakdown of law and order situation in AP but this is not happening because of alertness and caution on the part of AP CM and people in the state.

After holding discussions with senior leaders, Naidu will address the national media in Delhi at 3 p.m. He is going to speak at length on the BJP conspiracy to dislodge the TDP government and the Governor’s proactive role in this vicious scheme. This is the first time that Naidu has taken a strong anti-Narasimhan stand ever since bifurcation of United AP. There is a rising wave of criticism against Narasimhan’s role as Governor prior to, during and after the division of United State which left AP without a capital city of its own and with no enough revenue sources.

Naidu’s Delhi visit is expected to highlight the need for restraining Governors from causing undue harm to state governments by acting as mere agents of whichever party is ruling at the Centre. Former Governor Ram Lal’s role in removal of NTR government in 1984 would also come up for discussion in the light of charges of extra constitutional activities against Narasimhan.

Titli destruction: AP CM stays in Srikakulam

0

Titli cyclone left a trail of devastation in Srikakulam district and nearby border areas in the past two days as villages were marooned and cut off from the rest of the world.

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu visited cyclone-hit areas and listened to the hardships of local villagers and residents who have lost their near and dear ones along with property.

The cyclone uprooted trees and overturned vehicles including trucks on highways. Traffic is restored on Kolkatta National Highway but interior villages remained cut off from outside world.

The cyclone caused floods in rivers and streams like Nagavali and Vamsadhara in the area.

Seeing vast destruction, CM Naidu has decided to stay in Srikakulam district and oversee relief and rescue operations till normalcy is restored in people’s lives there.

Because CM’s decision, revenue, police and various other departments continue to be alert in their respective places to help people in their hour of need.

Has Andhra Babu become pro-Telangana? asks Harish

0

TRS party has stepped up its criticism against Congress saying that it has got an unholy alliance with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for December elections.

“Chandrababu will always be an Andhra Babu. Has Congress leaders got a signed promise from him that he will change and become friendly to the cause of Telangana”, asked Interim Minister T. Harish Rao.

He dashed off a letter to Congress state president Utham Kumar Reddy, listing out various disputes and asking how Congress could have an alliance an anti-Telangana leader like Naidu.

Telangana state has disputes with AP on the issues of Polavaram national project, several other irrigation projects, division of employees, formation of High Court, power supply and public sector undertakings.

In his letter, Harish asked Congress leaders whether they had taken a promise from Chandrababu that he would help in resolving all the above disputes in future.

The Minister listed out the alleged problems being created by AP CM for Telangana government for the past four years.

Harish said because of AP CM’s unwillingness to redesign Polavaram project, Ramalayam temple at Bhdrachalam will be submerged and lakhs of acres will face submersion threat there.

Chandrababu was on a mission to divert Godavari waters to Krishna basin by constructing Polavaram but he was creating problems for implementing Godavari Tribunal order for giving 80 tmc water as compensation to Telangana and other upper Krishna states. Because of this, Nalgonda and Palamur districts were losing a lot.

AP CM snatched away Sileru power project without giving any compensation to Telangana, which is now suffering a loss of Rs. 1 crore per day.

With regard to 120 AP employees in power sector, Chandrababu Naidu was not taking them because of this Telangana government has to pay their salaries all these four years.

Mission Bhagiratha is a noble mission to supply water to Hyderabad and many other places in Telangana but Chandrababu has made complaints against the same despite the fact that he is staying in Hyderabad and using water here.

Harish is known for biting criticism against rivals. His letters are certainly increasing pressure on Congress leaders to defend themselves on so many counts.

Anti-BJP rally: Mamata invites Chandrababu

0

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bennerjee has invited her AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu to come and address the mammoth anti-BJP rally to be held in Kolkata on January 19, 2019.

Mamata wrote a letter to AP CM saying that this rally would be a historic moment for all anti-BJP parties to come together and show their united strength for the cause of protecting democratic institutions in the country.

She told Chandrababu that the opposition unity would be a great requirement now as the country’s federal structure, democratic and constitutional institutions were all under threat from the existing dispensation at the Centre.

Stating that the rally would begin at the famous Brigade Parade in Kolkata, Mamata said that all efforts are being made to turn the rally into an ultimate show of strength by anti-BJP parties.

In the wake of recent IT raids in AP, Chandrababu has launched a scathing attack on BJP and spoke of working closely with other parties at the national level like Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party.

As 2019 elections are approaching, the rival parties are preparing for a major showdown and a do-or-die battle with BJP.

BJP has secret deals with KCR and Jagan, says Chandrababu

0

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting of TDP Parliamentary Party meeting in Amaravati capital city here on Saturday evening when he discussed with MPs the need for mobilising support from anti-BJP parties at national level ahead of 2019 elections.

He also discussed about the latest political situation arising out of declaration of early elections in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Mizoram in December this year.

Chandrababu told MPs that BJP was targetting TDP bitterly these days which was why there was a greater need more than ever to gather support from like-minded parties all over the country and rally them against BJP leadership.

He said that BJP had reached secret deals with KCR in Telangana and Jaganmohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy to damage TDP in a systematic manner.

AP CM stressed the need for TDP leaders and cadres to rise to the occasion and do everything that is possible to hit back at BJP.

He pointed out that BJP top leadership was seeking to monopolise political scene in the entire country by conspiring to weaken leaderships of strong, rival parties like Shiv Sena and Akali Dal along with TDP.

Chandrababu told the MPs that because of its persistent anti-people policies, BJP’s image had dipped enormously and its trustworthiness was at its lowest point as of now.

He observed that the general public in AP were strongly believing that Friday’s IT raids were carried out to settle political scores as these raids were comparable to those made in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana.

Chandrababu also blamed BJP for trying hard to link the Vote-for-Note case involving Revanth Reddy with the TDP AP leadership.

Chandrababu is the best CM and I like KTR: Vijay Deverakonda

0

Hero Vijay Deverakonda said when he was a kid, Chandrababu Naidu was the best chief minister and under his leadership, the city of Hyderabad boomed to next level. For his role in ‘NOTA’ he looked up to KTR and in the next elections he would vote for TRS.

He said that ‘NOTA’ gave him an opportunity to put out the frustration on the political system that is hit by crore of Rupees scam over the last few years.

After Chennai, Bengaluru, Vijay interacted with the local media in Hyderabad and shared quite a few details. Amidst surrounded by controversies, Vijay said that he would still make ‘NOTA’ mint Rs 20 crore at the box office if at all the film gets affected.

On doing a political genre, Vijay replied with a simple answer. “The story of ‘NOTA’ is quite interesting and I did it,” said Vijay and added that he had no idea why A-listers (actors) won’t touch such serious subjects and even if he was a newcomer, he would have done this genre.

More than the Telugu politics, ‘NOTA’ is relevant to Tamil politics but he had no idea about the political system of Tamil Nadu, stated Vijay.

Chandrababu’s call to US investors: AP as AI hub

0

AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his visit to US, called upon the Silicon Valley professionals and investors to come to AP and make use of the facilities being developed here for research and development in artificial intelligence and related technologies.

He took part in a round table conference on “AI – basic change’ organised in New York with experts from Silicon Valley and Wall Street exchanging their thoughts. The conference was presided by Ramana Jampala, who is a leading expert and advisor for many software firms in US.

Listing out priorities, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that all best and emerging technologies would be brought in to AP to make them an integral part of the state’s future developmental goals. He said that way back in 1984 itself, computers were used to run administration during the time of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao when 10 lakh documents were computerised.

Mr. Naidu further said that AP came out with a special “Artificial Intelligence Cloud Hub Policy 2019” to encourage and attract big projects in gaming and animation, IOT, DTP and start-ups. The policy was aimed at bringing ground-shifting changes in sectors like primary education where conventional low-result methods could be set aside by bringing skills of experts within the reach of all students.

For attracting investments, the AP government is offering lands at low rates in addition to creating basic infrastructure. Already, some projects were taken up in Medtech, Fintech, Black Chain, Drone Testing and Autonomous Vehicle Testing areas.

Mr. Naidu also informed the delegates that a Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution is going to be set up in AP in order to make the state a front-runner in embracing emerging technologies like AI.

Chandrababu visit: US firm’s solar battery unit in AP

0

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his current tour in the US, has reached an understanding with American firm, Triton Solar, over setting up of a solar battery manufacturing unit in over 100 to 200 acres in a suitable location in Andhra Pradesh. It will come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 727 cr.

This is as part of the AP government’s commitment to encouraging pollution-free, electric vehicles in general and solar-powered products in particular. An agreement has been signed between the AP government and Triton management in this regard.

Prior to this, Mr. Naidu held discussions with Triton Solar Chairman Himanshu Patel and Managing Partner Nanda Sandilya over the initiatives being taken to usher in greater industrial development in AP. The CM explained about the broad features of the vision laid out for sunrise state.

Later speaking to industrialists, Mr. Naidu told them that there would be countless opportunities for investors in the newly developing AP state because of the immediate need for infrastructure development and technology upgradation in different sectors. He said that best practices in ‘ease of doing business’ were put in place to make AP an attractive destination for investments from India and abroad.

Triton Solar has made considerable progress in the area of using nano technology and lithium polymer processes in solar battery manufacturing. The company has brought in a unique ground-shifting technology to offer flexible and printed solar panels and batteries.

During his three-day US visit, Mr. Naidu has addressed a conclave of Telugu NRIs, delivered a keynote address at UNO in New York and also held talks with industrialists there to explore the possibilities for their participation in AP development.

The CM welcomed pioneers in different new technologies to become partners in the progress of the new state. AP Energy, Investments and Infrastructure principal secretary Ajay Jain and AP Economic Development Board Chief Executive Officer Jasthi Krishna Kishore accompanied the CM.

The agreements reached with US firms are expected to create considerable employment opportunities for the local people in addition to giving a boost to industrial growth in AP.

Chandrababu delivers UNO address in New York

0

AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has just delivered his keynote address on natural farming at the United Nations Organisation in New York. He spoke on the need for promoting natural farming with lesser expenditure and greater results in terms of sustainable development.

AP CM explained to the other world leaders how AP government had already encouraged natural, organic farming in over 1 lakh acres and its ambitious plans to fulfil a target of 20 lakh acres by 2029. He stressed the need for supporting measures to develop farming in a pollution-free and pest-free environment in the larger interests of providing healthy food to people.

After AP CM, nearly eight leaders and delegates presented their speeches.

Mr. Naidu said that AP had got plans to take advantage of technological advances in agriculture in US and use the same to further get better results in natural farming their state. There would be a great scope for mutual exchanges in this aspect.

AP CM had used the international forum to explain about the road map being followed to bring in lakhs of farmers under zero budget cultivation in which the costs would be reduced to a great extent. AP seeks to top in Indian states in natural farming.

World leaders in agriculture appreciated the efforts being made in the Indian state A. Global Agroforestry Centre Director General Symens Tony promised to look for scope to set up a research centre in AP and join the state’s efforts in taking natural farming forward. He said that AP’s successes in pollution-free farming generated curiosity and it would help bring in new trends in farming.

During his interactions, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that agriculture was gaining greater significance in terms of food security and even well established IT professionals are now entering farming sector with greater zeal.

AP CM said that their State has long been known as ‘Annapoorna’ (food-giving mother) as its rice bowl regions always rose to meet the needs of the people in any crisis. In five years from now, 100 per cent coverage would be made under natural farming in the state, he said.

Chandrababu to skip court to address UN

0

After prolonged considerations, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has finally decided not to personally appear before Maharashtra in the next one week but in his place his lawyers will be sent there to make their submissions.

His lawyers will submit a recall petition before the court on the plea that Mr Naidu cannot appear as he has got a rare opportunity to address the United Nations Organisation (UNO) on Sep 24. The AP CM would not like to miss this rare opportunity to address an international forum none other than UNO Conclave.

It may be recalled that non-bailable arrest warrants were issued recently to CM and 18 others in the Babli agitation case filed in Maharashtra 8 years ago. The charges were obstructing the duties of public servants and causing injury to them.

Water Resources Minister D Uma and Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu were there with Naidu at the time of Babli agitation in Maharashtra.

Mr Naidu’s tour of America begins on Sep 22 when he will call on and talk to CEOs and COOs of top companies there. The visit was planned mainly after Naidu receiving an invitation from the UNO to deliver a lecture at its global conclave on “Financially sustainable agriculture: Global challenges and Opportunities”.

The prestigious invitation came after the world body took note of the rapid strides being made by AP in reaching fruits of technology and organic farming to farmers. the state has set a target of promoting natural organic farming and converting over 60 lakh farmers by 2024.

NBW conspiracy to target Chandrababu Naidu: TDP

0

Andhra Pradesh’s ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Friday alleged that the non-bailable warrant against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by a Maharashtra court is a conspiracy by the Central government to target him.

Naidu, in his first reaction, said he was not afraid of the NBW as he did not commit any crime.

“During my entire political career, I always worked for the people,” he told a public meeting in Kurnool on Friday.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, Dharmabad Court (Nanded), N.R. Gajbhiye on Thursday issued the NBWs against Naidu and his cabinet colleagues, Irrigation Minister D.U. Rao, Social Welfare Minister G. Kamalakar and 12 others in a 2010 case pertaining to an agitation against the Babli Barrage on the Godavari river.

The police have been ordered to arrest them and present them before the court at the next hearing on September 21.

The incident took place when the TDP had organised massive protests against what it termed the “illegal constructions” of the Babli Barrage project by the Maharashtra government allegedly to divert the Godavari river water from Telangana region of the then undivided Andhra Pradesh.

At that time, Naidu, who was the Leader of Opposition in the state, along with 40 legislators, had entered the barrage vicinity flouting prohibitory orders clamped there.

The police had caned some protesters and later arrested all of them.

Later, as Naidu refused to take bail, he was sent back to Hyderabad by a flight, and subsequently cases were filed against all agitators on various counts.

The TDP chief said he wanted to go to the Babli project site to lodge a protest as the project would have reduced north Telangana to a desert.

“Whether we are in power or in opposition, we always fought for the people,” Naidu said.

TDP MP Kesineni Nani told reporters in Vijayawada that the central government is resorting to a witch-hunt against the TDP chief for fighting against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh.

Nani wondered how NBWs can be issued now when Maharashtra Police had stated that time that the case is being closed.

Nani alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy have hatched the conspiracy. The MP, however, said nobody can do anything to Naidu as he enjoyed the people’s support.

Meanwhile, actor-turned-politician Shivaji said on Friday that a big conspiracy was being hatched against Naidu. He claimed that more notices would be issued to the TDP leader in the coming days.

Shivaji, who was earlier with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had said last week that Naidu would soon get the notice as the Central government is looking to target him under what he calls operation ‘Garuda’.

However, BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh denied that their party is behind the warrant against Naidu.

Naidu’s TDP pulled out of the BJP-led NDA in March this year. The party later moved a no trust motion against the Narendra Modi government.

Andhra cuts petrol, diesel prices by Rs 2

0

In a move to provide some relief to people reeling under increasing fuel prices, the Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre in the state.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced in the state Assembly that this decision will come into effect from Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh has the third highest percentage of VAT on petrol (35.77 per cent) after Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, and highest 28.08 per cent on diesel.

Naidu said owing to the reduction in VAT, the state would lose Rs 1,120 crore in revenues annually.

He made the announcement on a day when the Congress and the Left parties called nation-wide shutdown to protest fuel price hike.

The activists of Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also took part in the protests against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government across Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Telangana.

Naidu, whose party pulled out of NDA in March, accused the Centre of misleading the people by attributing the steep hike in the prices of petrol and diesel to growing crude oil prices globally.

The TDP chief pointed out that the crude oil price during 2013-14 was 105.52 dollars per barrel but even when the price fell to 46 dollars, the NDA government did not pass on the benefit to common man.

Naidu said the current price of crude oil is 72.23 dollars but the Narendra Modi government is increasing the prices every day, burdening the common man.

He demanded that the Centre, too, provide relief to people by cutting down taxes on fuel prices.

Chandrababu to deliver speech at UNO

0

UN Environment has invited AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to deliver a keynote address on ‘Financing Sustainable agriculture: global challenges and opportunities’ to be organised on sidelines of UN General Assembly on September 24. This is really big honor and it proves UN’s recognition of AP CM’s efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture.

United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

Earlier Newyork times ran a special story on organic farming and it appreciated Andhra Pradesh, that is investing $200 million to convert its farmers to the agroecological practice known as zero budget natural farming, which uses from-the-farm nutrients to grow crops without using costly chemical fertilizers or pesticides, which can push farmers into debt.

CBN will be delivering his speech on September 24th.

TDP Delegation To Meet Shiv Sena, NCP Leaders In Mumbai

0

In a significant political development ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, a delegation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will meet non-Congress and non-BJP party leaders in Mumbai on Sunday, sources said.

TDP’s Lok Sabha floor leader Thota Narasimham and MP P Ravindra Babu will call on Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday evening.

Later, they are scheduled to meet leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and of some other parties here.

Though details of the meetings or the agenda are not being revealed, it is expected that the TDP will appeal to various parties to support the Special Category Status it has demanded for Andhra Pradesh.

Narasimham will also hand over a letter and booklet from TDP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting the “injustice meted out to AP (Andhra Pradesh)” and solicit their espousal of the cause.

The monsoon session of Parliament will be held from July 18-August 10, when the AP Special Category Status issue — politically critical for TDP ahead of the 2019 general elections — is likely to figure prominently.

Friends in 2014, foes now for 2019

It is quite interesting to note that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had pledged that his party would not allow Telugu Desam Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu from coming to power in the next elections. Because in 2014, had had taken a similar pledge to bring Babu back to power, along with Narendra Modi at the Centre. The three leaders were friends in the last election, but they are rivals now for this election.

Nearly four years after the last general elections, Chandrababu Naidu realised that Modi will not do justice to Andhra Pradesh. Modi believes that Chandrababu Naidu is not a trusted leader anymore. At the same time, Pawan Kalyan realised that Chandrababu Naidu will not do justice to Andhra Pradesh.

The three leaders, who campaigned together in 2014, praising each other and standing for each other, are now three separated poles. There are no stakes for Narendra Modi or his party in Andhra Pradesh. Given the situation, the BJP may not get even a single Lok Sabha seat to help Modi retain his strength in Lok Sabha after the elections. But, the Modi-followers in the State are strong enough to defeat the rivals. They have voted for Chandrababu Naidu in the last election, which had given him that small 2.06 per cent margin over the rival YSR Congress.

Pawan Kalyan did not have his candidates and he only sought the votes for Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra Modi. This time, after parting ways with Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra Modi, he wants to contest on his own, may align with the Left parties. Kapu vote share, which stands close to 15 per cent in the State, is not consolidated around Pawan Kalyan. The Kapus are divided, some backing Chandrababu Naidu and some opposing him. But, there is not much support from this caste to Pawan Kalyan, as he refused to own this caste.

When Pawan Kalyan was part of his brother Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 elections, the party with Mega Star and Power Star fighting together, secured just 18 MLA seats and now without Mega Star on his side, it is anybody’s guess to make an assessment on Pawan Kalyan’s prospects. However, he too can play spoilsport for the TDP by taking away that small margin of 2.06 per cent votes.

Chandrababu Naidu to contest from Mylavaram or Ponnur?

0

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is reliably looking for a safe Assembly seat in Krishna and Guntur districts, as he had made up his mind to give his Kuppam seat to his son Nara Lokesh. The family members have had a talk about this during his recent visit to the family in Hyderabad and had told his son to take care of Kuppam. It was only after this family meeting, Lokesh had announced that he would contest the Assembly elections.

Having decided to give up the Kuppam constituency, Chandrababu Naidu had set his eyes on the Assembly constituencies in Krishna and Guntur districts. The sources said that Mylavaram constituency in Krishna and Ponnuru constituency in Guntur district were found to be safest places for Chandrababu Naidu this time. As Naidu would have to campaign for the party in all the 175 constituencies, he will not be able to campaign for his own seat and hence it should be the safest seat for the party. In that way, both Mylavaram and Ponnur are found to be the safest places for him, the sources added.

If Chandrababu Naidu opts for Mylavaram, the sitting MLA, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who is also Minister for Water Resources, would have to be moved to Nuzvid, where the party is also looking at the candidature of former Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.

Similarly, if Naidu choses Ponnur constituency in Guntur district, the sitting MLA Dhulipala Narendra Kumar, would have to be moved to some other constituency or to be made MLC. Accommodating Narendra is not a big deal for Chandrababu Naidu. The six-time MLA had been waiting for Cabinet berth and Chandrababu Naidu can promise him the same in the event of the party retaining power at the elections. Narendra can become MLC immediately filling the vacancy caused by Nara Lokesh, the party sources said.

What transpired between Naidu and Pawan?

0

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had a brief one-to-one talk the other day when they met at the temple inauguration near Acharya Nagarjuna University. The temple was constructed by the leading infra group Lingamaneni. Ironically, this business group had invited the Chief Minister and the Jana Sena chief besides some leaders ignoring the Bharatiya Janata Party and YSR Congress.

The Lingamaneni group had given its guest house on the banks of river Krishna to the Chief Minister, while it had given a bit of two acres of land to the Jana Sena chief for his party office. It is because of this connection, the two leaders have attended the ceremony, where they came face to face. It was for the first time that the two leaders have come face to face after Pawan Kalyan differed from Chandrababu Naidu a few months ago and going tough against the TDP in his interactions with the media and the people.

Chandrababu Naidu had reportedly greeted Pawan Kalyan in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple though they did not look at each other outside the temple. After this exchange of greetings the two leaders have reportedly closeted for one hour keeping others aside. It was a well-calculated move by Chandrababu Naidu to send some positive signals among the Kapu leaders and voters in the Telugu Desam Party that he still loves them. The meeting also happened a day after his one-to-one meeting with sulking Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who took exception to the Andhra Jyothi survey which predicted his defeat at Bheemili.

Chandrababu Naidu is worried about losing the Kapu vote in the next election and his meeting with the Jana Sena chief is seen as an advantage TDP. It is highly speculated that majority of the TDP Kapu leaders are unhappy with Chandrababu Naidu and are planning to quit the party before the election. In an attempt to avoid this, Chandrababu Naidu had pacified Ganta Srinivasa Rao and is trying to rebuild his alliance with the Jana Sena.

It is to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu would handle this vibrant Kapu community in the elections to regain their support.

Chandrababu completes four years in office

0

Telugu Desam president and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had completed four years in office today. It was on this day Chandrababu Naidu took oath on the spacious open place right in front of the Acharya Nagarjuna University in 2014. Thus he became the first Chief Minister of the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh.

There were a lot of hopes on his leadership and his experience. As bifurcation was felt injustice and the process followed to divide the State was taken as insult, there was strong desire among the youth, mostly those who settled in the software jobs in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennia, had preferred Naidu to rebuild the State. Though margin of his victory over Jaganmohan Reddy was just 5 lakh votes, despite the Narendra Modi wave and Pawan Kalyan’s craze, several sections of the State also looked forward to him to do some wonders to build the new State.

When he assumed charge on this day four years ago, there was a little over Rs 16,000 crore revenue deficit; there was no capital and Hyderabad was the common capital; there were no Central institutions; there were no industries; there was no big city except Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. There was no source of internal revenue and almost all the urban local bodies were in neck-deep debt, including the Vizag Municipal Corporation and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. These civic bodies have already pledge their assets – schools, commercial complexes and stadia – to meet the administrative cost.

It was that situation when Chandrababu Naidu assumed charge. It was returning to power after 10 hard years for Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP leaders, but it was new beginning for the people. They have lost Hyderabad, a place of employment for many unemployed youth. While US had been the employment destination for a small percentage of people, Hyderabad was the US for more than 80 per cent of the unemployed youth to try their luck for living. Chandrababu Naidu had promised job for every family and unemployment stipend for these youth, besides other promises, which made these youth to look forward this experienced leader.

Four years have gone, the youth are still waiting for employment or unemployment stipend. Every family is still looking forward to Chandrababu Naidu to give a job or stipend. No additional jobs were created in the last four years, except the tall claims on Kia Motors and others and those investment MoUs that run into a few lakh crore of rupees investment in the State, which never moved even an inch out of the paper. The much talked about unemployment stipend is yet to roll out and there is a ceiling of Rs 1000 per month per youth as being prepared by the government now. It might take a few months from now to this proposal to reach the youth. There is also a cap on the beneficiaries basing on their educational qualifications, age and economic conditions. Thus these hopes too are dashed after four years.

Is there a place for Naidu in the national politics?

2

Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu is dreaming of playing a key role in the national politics by building a third front. The third front, an alternative to the Congress-led UPA and the BJP-led NDA, is seen as potential force to form the next government. The front is likely to consist of the regional parties. Though Telangana Rastra Samithi president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had mooted the idea of floating a third front, the idea now runs around Chandrababu Naidu who is seen as better option than Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have already tied-up with the Congress and the unity was seen in the recent by-elections in Uttar Pradesh where they have defeated the BJP. This arrangement is likely to continue for the 2019 elections, if one goes by the success they have witnessed in the by-election. Nationalist Congress Party’s Sharad Pawar in Maharastra and Trinamool Congress party’s Mamata Benerji in West Bengal too are soft towards the Congress and may not say no to Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

The DMK in Tamil Nadu and JanataDal (Secular) in Karnataka are already in the Congress bag and may not prefer an alternative to the Congress, giving leadership to Chandrababu Naidu. The Janata Dal (Secular) will not take the trouble of breaking alliance with the Congress at the cost of its power to provide platform for Chandrababu Naidu to play in the national level. Leaders like Sharad Yadav prefers to the Congress –led alliance and has no reason to go against the Congress.

In the NDA kitty, two parties, Telugu Desam Party and the Shiv Sena, have already walked out from the BJP, while others may not differ at this point of time. Ram Vilas Paswan and others are comfortable with the NDA and there is no reason for them to look for Chandrababu Naidu to form the alternative front.

Naidu eyes on YSR CP MP seats

0

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is looking at the five Lok Sabha seats now represented by the YSR Congress party in the State, anticipating a by-election. The five YSR Congress MPs have submitted their resignations and are pressing for acceptance to force a by-election. The five MPs have met Lok Sabha speaker on May 29 and are scheduled to meet again on June 6. This is likely to be the final meeting of the MPs with the speaker to get the resignations approved. Once the resignations are approved by-election is likely to be held as there is more than six months’ time for the next general election.

Chandrababu Naidu wants to test his popularity in this election by contesting. Though the MPs have resigned in protest against the denial of special category status to the State, Chandrababu Naidu wants to contest here alleging that he is the better leader than Jaganmohan Reddy to get the special category status and develop the State. He wants to prove to the people he is the only leader fighting for the State, while others are playing politics.

Setting his goal to win all five Lok Sabha seats, he dared Jaganmohan Reddy to get the MPs resignations approved and face him in the by-election. Chandrababu Naidu had already gone into the election mode. He had tuned up himself for the elections and is now tuning his party leaders and cadre for the polls. He is making best use of the Nava Nirmana Deeksha to tune up the people too for the next election. He plans to win at least 130 MLA seats and all 25 MPs seats in the 2019 elections. To achieve this, he wants to test the peoples’ pulse in the by-election for the five Lok Sabha seats, which covers 35 Assembly constituencies spread over four districts of Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts.

For the first time in his career, Chandrababu Naidu is preparing to go alone, without alliance with any party. He had done with all parties except the Congress in every election and there is no party left. He had aligned with the CPI and CPM in the past, with the BJP and Jana Sena in the last election. As there is no party available for him now, he is going alone and wants the by-elections to the five Lok Sabha seats as a laboratory to test his new fete.

The YSR Congress MPs are confident of getting their resignations approved by the Lok Sabha Speaker when they meet her on June 6. This is two days ahead of Chandrababu Naidu’s week-long Nava Nirmana Deeksha event, which is set to end on June 8 and that gives him enough mileage to reach out to the people with the by-poll slogan. He has to win all the five seats, if he wants to win the next election and if he loses here, that would mean his party’s defeat in 2019 elections. Hence, he had dared Jaganmohan Reddy to get the resignations approved and by-election scheduled.

Thus, in every aspect, it is a tough time for Chandrababu Naidu and his party.
