Why is Jagan Circar unable to attract industrialists?

0

After nine months of his rule, AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has begun blaming the Opposition leaders for new industries not coming to Andhra Pradesh. He is also blaming Chandrababu Naidu for the existing industries leaving the state. What more, Jagan Reddy is now calling it as a Rakshas and psycho opposition which is obstructing the growth of the state. Clearly, the CM is not talking about the fears being expressed by the industrialists on his policies especially 75 per cent local reservations. This issue has already drawn critical negative reports in the national and global media. But still, CM Jagan Reddy is preferring to avoid any debate on the sanity of continuing this prohibitive law.

Political analysts say that Jagan’s blame game may yield good results in vote bank politics but his diversionary tactics would not win confidence of the investors.  Even in the Kia Motors relocation crisis, AP CM had not come forward personally before the media so far to reassure the industrialists. Commentators are now advising Jagan to realise that people have given him power to rule but not simply blame rivals and do nothing. Confidence building measures are needed. Blame games would only complicate further.

Is there a life threat to Naidu and Lokesh?

1

TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu’s state-wide yatra has triggered new controversies surrounding his security. The YCP government has cut down his security from 146 to 67 men. As it has come ahead of his prestigious yatra, it is but natural for TDP leaders to become agitated. Right from the beginning, Jagan Reddy Circar is using pressure tactics and police force extensively against the opposition. CM’s policy is apparently to beat even a small snake with a big stick. Probably, this was why, all types of cases including SC, ST atrocities cases are being filed against Amaravati farmers, journalists, rival activists and so on. Why would the YCP government allow Naidu to carry out his yatra peacefully?
On the other hand, Chandrababu repeatedly asks whether Jagan Reddy could do his padayatra throughout the state during TDP regime if he also used police force and similar gimmicks at that time. The fact is Jagan has come to power and he have taken a policy to suppress opposition in any form. To remove security for Naidu is indeed a risky step. As CM for one and half decade, Naidu faces threat from Maoists, terrorists and even red sander smugglers. TDP is rightly worried what would happen now, given the past experiences.

Jagan One Chance became death sentence for AP: Naidu

0

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu began his day-long Sand Deeksha at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada demanding free sand policy in the state. Naidu said that he had seen 11 Chief Ministers in his long political career and Jaganmohan Reddy is the most hopeless CM of them all. In the past five months, 50 construction workers committed suicides. Even politicians are committing suicides because of the YCP harassment. Jagan policy caused great suffering to 35 lakh construction workers and many more depending on 125 associated professions.

Referring to election promises, Naidu said that Jagan Reddy asked for ‘One Chance’ and the Andhra people surprisingly gave that opportunity to him. But that One Chance of Jagan has now become a Death Sentence for the poor people all over the state. Naidu asked why Jagan is not stopping illegal transportation of Andhra sand to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Orissa.

Chandrababu said that Jagan Reddy is crossing all decency as he is threatening to continue sand crisis if the cement industry managements don’t pay hefty amounts to YCP. Naidu deplored that Jagan is cruelly manipulating everybody despite its disastrous impact on poor people.

TDP BC MLA to become AP Opposition leader?

TDP boss N Chandrababu Naidu is not likely to become the Telugu Desam Legislature Party leader this time. In all probability, Naidu may choose a BC MLA to become the AP Opposition leader. Already, there is speculation within TDP that Tekkeli MLA Kinjarapu Atchannaidu may become TDLP leader.

The TDP is of the view that the political atmosphere is not favourable for Naidu or any other MLA from his community to head TDLP. The YCP leaders will not give any importance to the opposition party. The ruling leaders may also humiliate and undermine the self-respect of TDP MLAs.

In this backdrop, the TDP leaders is thinking that a BC leader with strong background and a fighting spirit should be in the forefront in the Assembly. Regardless of YCP’s hostile stance, the TDP MLAs will definitely attend Assembly sessions and raise public issues. For this, Naidu is stepping aside to play just a supervisory role while the BC leader will take the TDP fight forward. Interestingly, majority TDP MLAs elected this time are from the same community which strongly supports the TDP. But none of them will get the chance to head TDLP because of prevailing situation.

Naidu meets Gowda, Kumaraswamy for post-poll alliance

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday discussed forging a non-BJP alliance after the results of the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday with Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy here, a party official said.

“Naidu met Gowda and Kumaraswamy at the latter’s residence in the city’s southern suburb and sought their party’s support for forming a non-BJP alliance and staking claim to power in the event of a fractured verdict and a hung Parliament,” JD-S official Ramesh Babu told IANS here.

The JD-S, which is in power in the southern state with the Congress, has agreed to being a part of such an alliance and even endorsed Congress President Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister’s post.

“Naidu also apprised Gowda and Kumaraswamy of his discussions with Gandhi, TMC President Mamata Banerjee, BSP President Mayawati, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other allies for a post-poll alliance to prevent the BJP from returning to power in a hung Parliament,” said Babu.

The JD-S has contested in only 7 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats across the state, allowing the Congress in the remaining 21 seats as part of a pre-poll seat sharing arrangement for fielding joint candidates against the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Naidu has agreed to call on both the JD-S leaders on Thursday after all the Lok Sabha results are declared and requested them to be in New Delhi on Friday for a meeting of the non-BJP alliance leaders, Babu added.

Non-BJP parties will get majority at Centre: Naidu

0

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu gave his response on the exit polls by national media. He said that these surveys were not proving right every time and it happened in the past. He asserted that the non-BJP parties would get majority at the national level. The BJP would not get emerge majority on its own nor the NDA would have a chance to form the government as per the exit poll predictions. These polls gave NDA over and above 300 MP seats as against the simple majority of 272.

Already, there are calculations by the Congress allies that exit polls had given 50 to 100 seats more to the NDA. This is due to the national media being under the influence of the Modi-Shah duo. Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said that the NDA would fall short of simple majority in the Lok Sabha.

For various reasons, the BJP has faced stiff contests from its opposition parties in different states. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is getting far less number of seats. But this is going to be compensated to some extent in West Bengal, Odisha and Assam. However, the overall numbers may not be enough for PM Modi to have a smooth ride.

Chandrababu to meet Rahul, Mayawati and Akhilesh

0

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has a hectic schedule in Delhi and Lucknow today. He is going to meet Congress President Rahul Gandhi, BSP supremo Mayawati and SP President Akhilesh Yadav separately. Under the prevailing circumstances, the BJP is expected to emerge as the single largest party in Lok Sabha. The President may give the first chance to BJP to form the government. Chandrababu is discussing plans with friendly leaders on how to counter BJP on this.

There are expectations that the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party will play a crucial role if they win more than 50 MP seats in the current election. The two parties contested polls as an alliance in Uttar Pradesh which is why they are hoping to win majority seats by beating the BJP there.
In this backdrop, Chandrababu Naidu is making sure the channels of communication remain open between the leaders of Congress, SP, BSP and also Trinamool Congress in the next few days. Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati and Mamata Banerjee are the main contenders for the PM post as of now. Chandrababu’s efforts are to ensure that the PM candidate issue should not be a hurdle for anti-Modi parties to oust him eventually after May 23 polls.

Chandrababu’s latest calculation is 110 seats?

1

It is only 11 days more for the final May 23 counting cum results. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is busy holding review meetings with the party leaders from the districts. MP and MLA candidates along with mandal level leaders and counting agents are participating. Naidu has told them about his latest calculation that the TDP is winning with more than 110 seats. There are reports that the CM has arrived at this figure after booth level micro surveys which were conducted all over.

The interesting part is that this time there would be either huge majorities or narrow majorities. Naidu is alerting his party counting agents and leaders to be very cautious. Particularly, there needs to be extra caution in segments where very narrow majorities are expected.

The TDP leaders have begun speculation on the seats where majorities would come down and what would be the factors responsible for the same. There are reports in some pockets the welfare beneficiaries like old aged people and women resorted to cross voting to a little extent. TDP leaders are failing to guess the actual percentage of this cross voting.

Chandrababu fires on Chief Secretary’s sensational comment

0

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken strong objection to the statement of Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam. CS said that Naidu is a chief minister without powers under the prevailing circumstances in the state. The comment created a political sensation. Naidu reacted sharply and he said that it would be a twisted statement to say that a chief minister should be there without any authority.

CS Subrahmanyam has just talked about the limited powers of Chief Minister who has to consult him to hold any review with district officials on any emergency issue. His statement assumed significance as there are reports of CM Office not taking CS seriously so far.

Naidu is expected to begin his review meetings on administrative matters from May 1. The official and TDP party circles are tense on this aspect. The IAS officers are going to face even further tensions because of the differences between CM and CS. On why he presided over the election review meeting, CS Subrahmanyam is saying Chief Electoral Officer has complained of non-cooperation from some officials from districts.

Andhra IAS officials brainstorm over CS issue

0

Hyderabad: IAS officers in the Andhra Pradesh government are brainstorming over the role of chief secretary LV Subramanyam after the sharp criticism emerged from the chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The IAS officials will elect a new president of their association.

Andhra Pradesh IAS officials including Jawahar Reddy, JSV Prasad, Pravin Kumar, Prasanna Venkatesh, etc, held a meeting at Harita Hotel, Punnamighat, in Vijayawada.

The IAS officials discussed on the role of chief secretary LV Subramanyam after the remarks made by the Chandrababu Naidu.

Naidu has criticised the unilateral decision of Election Commission (EC) for appointing LV Subramanyam as cheif secretary without consulting anyone. “Along with YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Subramanyam was also co-accused in disproportionate assets case. The CS was a co-accused and it’s on record. I question how can EC appoint Subramanyam as CS. I am not against anyone, but EC should act in a democratic way. I question the role being played by retired officials. Where were they when chief secretary Anil Chandra Punetha was transferred,” maintained Naidu.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission on April 5 removed AP Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha from the post and appointed senior-most IAS officer LV Subrahmanyam of the 1983 batch in his place.

Earlier, the EC had removed two top bureaucrats from their posts during election time. However, Punetha challenged EC’s Order transferring the Director General of Intelligence AB Venkateswara Rao. Punetha on March 27 filed a writ petition in the AP High Court.

Naidu further contended that the EC did not have any power to interfere with the course of administration that is unconnected to polling.

Modi’s rule is full of Tughlaq decisions, says Chandrababu

0

Stepping up his anti-BJP campaign in other states, CM Chandrababu Naidu is making unsparing attacks on Prime Minister Modi and his government’s decisions. Naidu has said that Modi’s regime in last five years is reminding everybody of the disastrous Tughlaq rule during the Delhi Sultanate period. Naidu made a bitter attack saying that because of demonetisation and faulty implementation of GST, India’s growth rate came down by 2 per cent.

Chandrababu said there were reports of over 55 lakh employees having lost their jobs in different sectors because of industrial and business slowdown. It is but natural for opponents to call others Tughlaqs when their decisions impacted common people adversely. This word was being used in history ever since Delhi Sultan Mohammad Bin Tughlaq who was hated by all sections of people at that time for his disastrous decisions and also for trying to shift capital from Delhi to Daulatabad.

Modi’s opponents all over the country are now targetting him mainly on his ban on currency notes and also introduction of high value Rs. 2,000 notes. Chandrababu said that the BJP used the high value notes to buy voters all over the country and the entire demonetisation was a farce.

Chandrababu should not hold official review meetings?

0

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to AP Secretariat created a political controversy. The YSR Congress Party has complained to Chief Electoral Officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi. Following this, the Election Commission has referred to the guidelines which prevent a chief minister or his ministers in the states to conduct review meetings without prior intimation to and approval from the EC.

There was a gap of 44 days between April 11 polling day and May 23 counting day for Andhra Pradesh. So, it means almost all administrative machinery coming to a standstill for nearly six weeks. Actually, the election code was brought in to prevent the ruling parties from announcing and implementing last minute programmes to win favour of voters.

Over the years, the election code has got a tighter grip over the ruling governments. Now, it has led to a situation where there should be no official reviews on developmental and welfare programmes. The EC has suggested that a chief minister can conduct review meetings in times of natural disasters only with top officials and in the presence of a representative of the chief electoral officer concerned. Dwivedi is going to ask for a report on Chandrababu review meeting at Secretariat.

CEC joins list of CBI, ED, IT etc – Demolition drive continues

1

The past six months have opened a new chapter in the history of Centre-State relations in India. AP people have seen how the national institutions like the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax, etc have conducted raids on the targetted leaders and their associates belonging to the non-BJP parties. TDP boss and CM Chandrababu Naidu has blamed PM Modi for misusing and demolishing the national organisations to harass rival political parties.

Now the Central Election Commission (CEC) has also jointed the list of these national institutions which are being rampantly misused by the BJP government at the Centre. Within hours of complaints made by BJP’s secret partner YCP, the CEC has transferred Director General (Intelligence) AB Venkateswara Rao and two SPs and asked the TDP government to suggest new officials in their place. The transfers were made after YCP complained that these IPS officers are working in favour of the ruling TDP. The move is being criticised by different sections as to how an important pillar of democracy like the CEC has also surrendered to the Central government’s arm twisting methods.

This is the first time in the history of the country’s electoral politics that the IPS transfers were effected so arbitrarily just based on the complaints of an Opposition party in a state. Analysts say this is nothing but the continuation of demolition drive against the national institutions to take ‘absolute power’.

Chandrababu and Jagan – Blame game reaches a peak

Only 15 days are left for the AP polling day. CM Chandrababu Naidu is trying hard to retain his power while Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy is making all out efforts to exchange his position with Naidu. They have intensified mutual allegations and blame game against each other as electioneering reached the middle and crucial phase. They are addressing maximum election meetings and sending as much information as possible into the voters to influence their decision making.

Chandrababu is sharpening his attack, saying that Andhra Pradesh people have only one threat while they can easily overpower and solve all other problems however big they are. This one and only big problem is the faction-minded, crime-ridden family of Jaganmohan Reddy. CM tells the voters to realise and eliminate this danger to the state by defeating Jagan’s YCP in all the assembly segments and LS constituencies.

On his part, Jaganmohan Reddy accuses Chandrababu of having a life of conspiracies and betrayals. He asked CM whether he has seen with his own eyes when KCR was giving Rs. 1,000 crore elections to me? Jagan asked CM. Did KCR call you and tell you that he had given that amount to me? Jagan asked CM. The major contenders for power are leaving no stone unturned to attack each other in a bid to get the most important upper hand in the phase of electioneering.

Target 150 – What makes Chandrababu so confident?

0

The TDP’s confidence levels have increased tremendously in the first phase of election campaign. CM Chandrababu Naidu is saying their party is going to win above 150 out of the total 175 seats in the AP Assembly. Analysts cite the following list of reasons for Chandrababu’s confidence:

  • – 95 lakh women beneficiaries already got Rs 6000 out of Rs 10,000 under Pasupu Kumkuma and to get smart phones.
  • – 5 lakh youths getting unemployment allowance of Rs 2000 per month under Yuva Nestham.
  • – 35 lakh farmers getting Rs 10,000 per year under Annadata Sukheebhava besides additional benefits.
  • – Rs 24,600 cr farm loan waiver
  • – Rs 2514 cr Dwcra loan waiver 6.56 lac groups
  • – 55 lakh beneficiaries get old age, widow and handicapped pensions
  • – 35 lakh auto drivers getting tax exemption
  • – Rs15 lakh cr worth investments are in pipeline with a potential for 30 lakh jobs
  • – The main rival Jaganmohan Reddy’s many weaknesses which are his faction background, inexperience, CBI assets cases, collusion with anti-AP parties like TRS and BJP.

Poll campaign heats up – TDP targets faction politics

0

AP CM and TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu is dominating the first phase of election campaign with his sharpened criticism against rivals. His main target is now the faction and murder politics that is the hallmark of YSR and Jaganmohan Reddy’s leadership. As there is much media and public attention on recent murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy in Pulivendula, Naidu is bringing up this issue again and again to grab voters’ attention.

This nasty murder politics is not necessary in our areas and this should be prevented by defeating all the YCP candidates here, Naidu tells voters in North Coastal and Godavari districts. At the same time, he talks about his pet themes of development and welfare politics.

Chandrababu tells voters if they cast their votes for Jagan, then there is no doubt he will transform the entire state into a ‘Nerandhra Pradesh’ (Criminalised AP). There will be goodas and rowdies in every street as general life becomes very difficult. The YCP leaders are not able to come out with strong counters to Naidu’s attack. Jagan is giving confident speeches on his becoming CM but not able to condemn TDP campaign on faction murders.

Jagan and Pawan throw Andhra self-respect to winds?

2

NTR could create a record in the electoral history of India just because he talked about Telugu self-respect and fought bravely against the then mighty Congress. Cinematic charisma is just another factor in his victory at that time. But now the AP-based parties are least bothered about this self-respect factor. While Jaganmohan Reddy is depending on TRS boss KCR for winning 2019 election, Pawan Kalyan has gone all the way to Lucknow to get alliance support with BSP leader Mayawati.

By comparison, TDP boss CM Chandrababu Naidu is gaining greater credibility because of his continuous fight against the Modi-Shah duo on the plank of Andhra self-respect. The TDP’s lonely struggle is leaving an impact on the voters’ mood. In terms of experience in leadership, Jagan and Pawan are lagging behind Chandrababu who is going forward with his careful planning.

Jana Senani has given out his anti-corruption stand as the reason for his leaving the TDP alliance. Analysts say it is a tactical blunder on the part of Pawan Kalyan to tie up with Mayawati who is facing a lot of corruption allegations. This is a big loss to Pawan on ideological grounds. It is also a risky experiment to work with Mayawati and get good results in AP politics.

TDP’s Mission 150 seats – What is Chandrababu’s logic ?

1

As the election mood is turning somewhat favourable, TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu has come out with Mission 150 seats for the April 11 Assembly election. It is no doubt on the higher compared to the party’s past performance. To win 150 out of the total 175 seats, the party will require vote share in the range of 40 to 44 per cent. Is it possible in the present election which is going to witness Pawan Kalyan trying to claim his share of the cake?

Analysts say the TDP will stand to gain if its vote share touches anywhere above 37 per cent. In 2009 elections, Congress won 156 seats in United AP and formed the government by getting 36.56 per cent vote share. In that election, TDP lagged behind with 28.12 per cent while Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party got 16.22 per cent and TRS got 3.99 per cent.

After winning 2014 election, Chandrababu introduced such programmes to get the support of all sections of the people. Now he is banking heavily on support from his welfare schemes for DWCRA women, farmers, young people and pension beneficiaries in rural areas. Development, efficient execution of projects like Polavaram and Amavarati capital city are added advantages. Non-fulfillment of special status by Modi government also benefits TDP. Rivals are split and Pawan Kalyan is contesting alone. All these factors have made Chandrababu confident of getting considerable vote share enough to touch the 150 mark.

Why Chandrababu made personal comments against Jagan?

0

Jaganmohan Reddy’s situation is becoming more and more helpless as the election draws nearer. Due to CBI and ED illegal assets cases, he is coming under severe attack by TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu. The average AP voter is also talking about massive acquisition of illegal assets by Jagan and his CBI cases. Jagan thought he could take cover under secret support of Modi and KCR. This is where he left no choice to Chandrababu to mount a more severe attack. It is hitting at an unprecedented personal level.

Naidu started using words he never used before. He says Jagan has become something like a pet dog for KCR. What more, Jagan has fallen at the feet of KCR only to allow him to carry out all illegal activities. Like they say, Jagan is almost bowing before KCR asking for his mercy. “Baanchan Dora, nee kaallu mokkutha”. ‘Forgive me Lord, I will pray at your feet’.

There’s no fitting reply from the YCP leaders. Naidu’s unexpected personal criticism triggered speculation on the TDP campaign strategy. It’s raising doubts whether Jagan could hit back with convincing replies to win the much needed trust of voters ahead of elections.

0
