Domestic Weekly report : Goodachari Emerges Success, Others Disappoint

    0

It has been a mixed week for Tollywood at Domestic Box-Office with Goodachari doing well and other films performing in below par level.

    1. Goodachari : After a good weekend, the film has sustained good enough to emerge as a success on weekdays. it has collected an estimated distributor share of 5 Crores by the end of it’s first week. It is a success already with few buyers yet to recover the expenses which is expected to be mostly done by the end of it’s second weekend.

    2. Srinivasa Kalyanam : The film which had a mid week release on thursday has taken below par opening in domestic markets. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 2.90 Cr on it’s opening day which is way below the mark. Weekend is going to be very crucial for the film as it will be facing competition from a new release on Independence Day. BELOW PAR !

    3. Chi La Sow : After a decent Sunday, the film has continued with low collections on weekdays making it a poor week overall. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 1.60 Cr against the valued theatrical rights of more than 3 Crores. DISASTER !

    4. Saakshyam : The film has added an estimated share of 1.60 Cr in it’s 2nd week taking two weeks total to 11.45 Cr. Theatricals of the film are valued at 25 Crores. which tallies to a recovery of mere 45 percent. It’s a Hat-trick failure for Bellamkonda Sreenivas. DISASTER !

    5. RX 100 had better collections on weekdays when compared to other new release Brand Babu which was a total washout. Cummulative share of former is around 11.50 Crores where as the later has collected a mere 50 lakhs share.

Chi La Sow First Weekend Worldwide Collections – Below Par

Chi La Sow 1st Weekend Worldwide Collections

Chi La Sow has a below par weekend with a worldwide distributor share of little over 1.40 Crores. Worldwide theatricals of the film are valued for at least 3.60 cr which tallies to a recovery of 40 percent. Recovery in areas where the distributors have bought the film is in the range of 30 percent. Only positive aspect for the the film is that it has seen decent collections on Sunday and it should perform Rock solid during weekdays to achieve a breakeven.

Weekend Box-Office : Goodachari Grows Well, Chi La Sow Decent On Sunday

    0

Goodachari : After a decent opening the film has shown good growth on Saturday and Excellent on Sunday with collections in the range of 190 percent of Friday. The film has collected an estimated distributor share of 3.10 Crores in Domestic Markets with nearly 40 percent coming from Nizam alone. Individual distributor recovery ranges from 50 to 70 percent. If the film sustains very well on weekdays, Some distributors will be in safe zone by the end of this week.

Chi La Sow : After a Poor opening the film has shown limited growth on Saturday and decent on Sunday with collections double of Friday. It has collected an estimated share of 1.10 Cr in Domestic markets with distributors recovery in the range of 30 to 35 percent. Now the film has to sustain well on weekdays to achieve a respectable verdict.

Saakshyam : The film has a very average weekend with housefull shows reported in some centres on Sunday. In D centres, the Collections were better than the weekend topper Goodachari. US box office : Godachari shines, others disappoint

Tollywood’s latest thriller Goodachari, which has Adivi Sesh in the lead role, has dominated the overseas box office after its release last Friday. Chi La Sow, which took a decent start, couldn’t sustain in the first weekend. Maruthi’s Brand Babu is a complete wash out with embarrassing figures.

Goodachari, which opened on a positive note with encouraging talk from Thursday premiers, went on to add solid numbers on the next three days to collect close to $ 400K by the end of Sunday. Considering the budget spent by the makers, the film has already attained hit status and all buyers will be in safe zone by the end of Monday.

The strong content coupled with riveting narration and commendable performances by the entire cast have resulted in generating a solid talk for the film.

Rahul Ravindran’s Chi La Sow managed to collect only a meagre $ 114K by the end of Sunday. The film might not recover the investment and will end as a loss venture in overseas.

    Rahul Ravindran hits a Jackpot

    0

Young actor Rahul Ravindran in a surprising move turned director and impressed with his debut film Chi La Sow. This Sushanth and Ruhani Sharma starrer released on Friday and has been declared as a hit film. King Nagarjuna watched the film in advance and released Chi La Sow across the globe through his Annapurna Studios banner. Impressed with Rahul’s work, Nag even paid an advance of Rs 25 lakhs for the young director.

Annapurna Studios inked a two film deal with Rahul Ravindran. He is now busy preparing the script of his next and will narrate it to Nag at the earliest. If the script sounds good, one among Akkineni actors may play the lead role in Rahul Ravindran’s next. Rahul Ravindran thanked Samantha because of which Akkineni family watched Chi La Sow. Sushanth too received a decent break after a huge gap.

OS market gets a breather after a long gap

After a strong Summer with more than $ 10M haul, Tollywood trade circles in overseas have been witnessing a lean phase due to back to back debacles. Sammohanam is the only recent Telugu film which managed to collect more than half a million.

After weeks of disappointment due to a string of low performing films, trade circles have heaved a sigh of relief with the release of Goodachari and Chi La Sow. Both these last Friday releases have managed to garner decent word of mouth and encouraging reviews.

While Goodachari is having a strong run, Chi La Sow is performing decently in the first weekend at the US box office. Both films started off well with decent premiers day numbers. Goodachari collected close to $290K as of this writing.

Chi La Sow Day1 Worldwide Collections – Poor

Chi La Sow Day1 Worldwide Collections

Chi La Sow has collected a worldwide distributor share of 40 lakhs on it’s Day One which is very poor. Domestic theatricals of the film are valued at 3 Crores which means the recovery is less than 10 percent. The recovery is a bit better in Overseas but even there the collections on Friday are equal to premiers which is a worrying trend. The film has to grow over the weekend else it will be going to end up as a huge disaster.

Godachari and Chi La Sow bring cheer for trade circles

    0

After successive weeks of dullness at box office due to a string of poor performing films, finally a cheerful Friday has arrived for trade circles as new releases opened to good reports all over. Out of the three films that released this week, two have managed to garner positive talk all over since morning shows.

Adivi Sesh’s slick thriller Godachari, which has been creating good buzz since the release of interesting trailers, is leading the pack with phenomenal reports from audience and critics alike. The spy thriller has opened well and is going to have a strong weekend due to the positive web reviews and encouraging mouth talk.

Rahul Ravindran’s family entertainer Chi La Sow is also getting decent reports from all quarters. Trade analysts opine that the film might easily draw family audience due its neat presentation.

It is a good start for both films and they to need to perform strongly in the first weekend to sustain at the box office.

Chi La Sow Review – A pleasant , entertaining treat !

    Chi La Sow Movie Review

    Telugu360 Rating 3/5

    Story:

Chi.La. Sow is about the sensibilities of a rich young man Arjun and amiddle-class girl Anjali. Arjun is a youngster who resists marriage as his parents pressure him to tie the knot. In the process, he meets Anjali for alliance. Rest of story is how confused Arjun deals with the conflict. The whole story occurs in the span of 24 hours.

    Analysis:

Chi.La.Sow is a concept-based film. The whole story of this film runs within 24 hours span.As parents insist, Arjun agrees to let Anjali visit his home for ‘Pelli Choopulu “. Lead pair Arjun (Sushant) and Anjali (Ruhani Sharma) both have strong opinion about their own marriages. Arjun has few goals to be achieved before marriage, Anjali has a need to marry someone who can take care of her bipolar disorder mom. Chi La Sow takes off on lighter vein and continues in same pattern except where Anjali’s mom sentiment scenes are inserted. Vennela Kishore is Arjun’s colleague and generates ample comedy

Major asset of this film is dialogues, the conversations are lively and practical. The brief crime episode has been adequately dealth with. The realistic situations are pleasant watch. However, why heroine rejects Arjun repeatedly isnt convincing, her nagging is bit inconvenience here and there.

    Performances:

Sushant played the boy next door role with ease. Ruhani Sharma as Anjali is OK. Anu Hasan as hero’s mother is a good choice, so is heroine’s mother. Vennela Kishore shown great timing in comedy scenes. Rahul Ramakrishna played a cameo as an SI.

    Technicians:

Debutant director Rahul Ravindran has delivered a well-made story, dialogues in his first outing. Sukumar’s photography is cool, though the film is indoors for major part he did a good job. Prashant Vihari’s music is soothing especially ‘Mellaga mellaga ‘is a top-class melody. His background score is yet another pleasant one.

    Positives:

    • Feel good factor
    • Vennela Kishore Comedy scenes
    • Realistic moments
    • Refreshing treatment by Debutante director

    Negatives:

    • Bit slow at emotional scenes

    Verdict:

Chi La Sow is fun, emotion and sweet moments rightly blended film. The characterizations of Arjun, Anjali with urbane outlook may appeal to class audience. Vennela Kishore comedy scenes are major asset for this film.On flip side, narration is slow at times and Anjali’s nagging has been over done. All in all, Mr. Rahul Ravindran, in his debut as director, has delivered a promising film. It appeals to entire family.

Winds of Change- Chi La Sow Audio Review

    0

    Chi La Sow Audio Review

Chi La Sow is an upcoming entertainer starring Sushanth and Ruhani Sharma in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Prashanth R Vihari and direted by Rahul Ravindran.

The album begins with a funky number Down Down which has interesting lyrics by Kittu Vissapragada. Kala Bhairava and Ernest Abraham do a commendable job with their fresh vocals. The live drumming, acoustic guitar is quite groovy and appealing blues aura is worth mentioning. Prashanth interestingly fuses the Indian flavours as well in between which is fantastic to hear.

Mellaga Mellaga is a sublime melody by Chinmayi Sripada with acoustic guitar and mild strings make it an adorable melody. The interludes are fantastic to hear with great chord progression and the entire song has a new age appeal to it. The lead guitar also brings an added flavour to the entire composition. However,it is Chinmayi who is the star of the song with her amazing presence.

A rhythmically brilliant number Solo Solo by composer Prashanth Vihari, Diwakar and Naresh Iyer gives a new flavour to the album. Kittu Vissapragada strikes again with his conversational style lyrics. The song has interesting electric guitars and impressive rhythm section which brings a foot tapping look.

Varshinche is a progressive solo sung by Abhijit Rao and Prakash Chodimalla which has gripping electric guitar coupled with trance beats. The song has a great blend between new age music to Indian melody and a bit of electronica as well.

The title number Chi La Sow offers a funky ending for the album with Jazzy rhythm blended with disco beats. Kittu Vissapragada once again takes on marriage and youngsters opinion on the same. Diwakar, Chinmayi and Pranav bring the song a youthful appeal and enjoyable aura.

    Verdict:

Chi La Sow is a classy album and delivers what it is expected of.

It turned out to be very difficult to find a right girl for ‘Chi La Sow’: Rahul Ravindran

The latest teaser of ‘Chi La Sow’— introducing leading lady Ruhani Sharma — has been a hit, clocking decent views. With popular singer and dubbing artiste Chinmayi lending her voice to the newbie, it is but natural for it to attract more views in the coming days. Nonetheless, finding the right girl for the film turned out to be an easier said than done job for actor-turned-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran. “I had a very specific girl in mind. Someone who looks young but mentally is very mature—way beyond her age. I desperately wanted a Telugu-speaking girl for sure. I’ve put a casting call and spoke to a bunch of model coordinators here and tried to do profile of Telugu girls and searched really hard.

“Besides the Telugu factor, I wanted a newcomer because the girl walks into Arjun’s (part played by Sushanth) life as well as the audience mindset as a complete stranger. I did find a lot of girls who looked the right age but these girls didn’t had enough life experiences to relate to the kind of maturity that I was talking about, because they were city-bred and had a comfortable life. And that became a key issue. On one hand, I wanted a newcomer and on the other, I wanted her to be a Telugu-speaking girl. We were on the hunt and it came to a point where I was literally running out of time as the shoot was nearing and I was about to panic when my team told me, ‘Sir, it’s time to look in Mumbai. We will definitely find a good performer who will be sincere enough to learn the dialogues’.

“I’m very averse to prompting. For some films it’s ok, but for a film like this, I completely ruled it out. It was important for the actress to internalize dialogues and reel them out with right emotion and expression. I started looking Mumbai profiles which is when I came across Ruhani’s pictures. Her eyes had a certain depth and she looked the right age too. We contacted her and before auditioning, I refrained from narrating the story, but spoke about her character and I could notice her body language changing completely. She later told me that she related to the part because it was a lot like her past. Soon after, I auditioned her for three scenes and she was spot on. Later, I told her that I wouldn’t allow her to seek the help of prompting, before asking her to take three days time and get back to me if she would learn the dialogues. I told her if she can’t, I would understand. She rang me back, promising that she will learn,” Rahul explained this author.

A good two months before the film went to floors; Rahul sent her the bound script. “Also, every day I would send her voice notes with accent and pronunciation of her dialogues. She worked hard and I’m proud of the fact that she didn’t take the help of prompting for not even one scene. She turned out to be a fantastic performer,” he exulted.

A rom-com, ‘Chi La Sow’, wrapped up in flat 32 days, is scheduled to open in cinemas on July 27.
