NTR’s role in Thalaivi: Still a Puzzle

1

NTR Jr was the first consideration for the role of NTR in Thalaivi, the biopic of actress and politician Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut is reprising the role of Jayalaltihaa on screen and AL Vijay is the director. After NTR Jr had a big no for the role, the makers approached Nandamuri Balakrishna. After the failure of NTR biopic, Balakrishna too was not much interested. Though the makers wanted to skip or chop off the role of NTR from the film, they could not do it as NTR and Jayalalithaa shared a close bonding.

NTR and Jayalalithaa worked for several films and they shared a close bonding always. Hence, NTR’s role is crucial and needs to be shown on screen. The makers are left puzzled and they are undecided about the actor who can do justice for the role. The film’s shoot is inching completion and the new release date would be announced soon. Vishnu Induri is bankrolling this prestigious project.

We all lied about Jaya’s health condition: TN Minister

0

Tamil Nadu Minister for Forests C. Sreenivasan has sought people’s apology for “lying” about the health condition of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa when she was admitted in Apollo Hospital.

Speaking at a public meeting in Madurai, around 500 km from here, on Friday night Sreenivasan said: “We would have told lies that she (Jayalalithaa) had idlis and people met her. The truth is that nobody saw her.”

Sreenivasan said he is seeking apology from the people now for “those lies”.

According to him, everyone in the government and in the ruling AIADMK party “lied about the people” who had met Jayalalithaa in Apollo Hospital, where she was admitted on September 22 last year.

Sreenivasan said even the national leaders used to sit in Apollo Hospitals Chief Pratap Reddy’s room and the AIADMK Ministers would also be seated in that room.

“We all lied then so that the party’s secret does not get leaked,” Sreenivasan said.

He said nobody met Jayalalithaa in her hospital room.

She was admitted to Apollo on the night of September 22 and died in the hospital on December 5.

During the period of stay, the information from the government and the hospital about her health condition was scarce.

Most of the communication about her health condition stated that she was on the road to recovery and was doing well.

He said it was only V.K. Sasikala – a close aide of Jayalalithaa for several years – who used to meet Jayalalithaa.

Reacting to the charge, T.T.V.Dinakaran, nephew of Sasikala, said after October 1, 2016 even Sasikala was not allowed inside Jayalalithaa’s room.

He said on the instruction of doctors Sasikala would go inside Jayalalithaa’s room for two minutes.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami had announced the government’s decision to set up an inquiry commission to be headed by a retired High Court judge to go into the death of Jayalalithaa.

Ever since Jayalalithaa’s death, there have been hints of foul play over her death, with critics pointing fingers at the now jailed Sasikala.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Thursday announced that a judicial commission will probe the death of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and said her Poes Garden house will turn into a memorial, meeting the main demands of former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam for the two AIADMK groups to merge.

Jayakumar.

He also said that in deference to the demand from various sections and people, the government had decided to convert Chennai’s Poes Garden residence, where Jayalalithaa lived, into a memorial which will be open for public.

Asked who would head the commission and when it will give its report, the Chief Minister said the details would be announced soon.

“Any action in the matter can be taken only after the commission gives its report.”

Delhi Police books AIADMK’s Dinakaran in bribery case

Delhi Police on Monday booked AIADMK Deputy General Secretary and V.K. Sasikala’s nephew T.T.V. Dinakaran on charges of bribery, an officer said.

Dinakaran has been accused of attempting to bribe Election Commission officials to get the party’s ‘two leaves’ symbol.

Police said his close aide Sukesh Chandrasekar was arrested on Sunday night from a south Delhi hotel with Rs 1.3 crore which he was to give the poll officials as a bribe in exchange for the symbol that was suspended a couple of weeks ago.

“Dinakaran has been booked for criminal conspiracy, personating a public servant and corruption after Chandrasekar disclosed his name during a late night police raid at the hotel where he was staying,” the senior police officer said.

The police had raided the hotel following a tip-off, the officer added.

Reacting to the development Dinakaran told reporters in Chennai: “I do not know anybody by the name Sukesh Chandrasekar.”

“Somebody is scheming to destroy the AIADMK,” Dinakaran added.

“I will meet the allegation legally. If I am summoned by Delhi Police I will meet it legally,” Dinakaran said.

Dinakaran also added that he will be meeting Sasikala, his aunt and also AIADMK’s General Secretary in the Bangalore jail and discuss various issues.

The AIADMK has been cleaved into two camps since December 2016, when its leader and late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa died.

Her closest aide, Sasikala, was named the new party chief but was jailed within weeks after the Supreme Court found her guilty of corruption.

Pakistan Media Hails Jayalalithaa

0

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has hit the headlines for all good reasons this time. With Ramzam season starting yesterday, Jayalalithaa has ordered its government to distribute over 4000 tonnes of rice to more than three thousand mosques across the state.

The rice would be used to make gruel-a healthy soup- and served to fasting people at mosques. Noticing the same, Pakistani based television channel—SAMAA has hailed Jayalalithaa. It even telecast the video of Jayalalithaa displaying the sign of  victory.

The channel went on to say that Pakistan government should also implement the same. All in all, it’s a good note that steps being taken by state governments in India are being lauded by our neighbouring country. This will sure give an edge over DMK to J Jayalalithaa. What steps DMK will take to compete with AIADMK in serving Muslim brethren has now become topic of the town.
