PS-1 vs PS-2 Worldwide Box-Office

S-2 has ended its run worldwide with a gross of 346 Cr and a distributor share of 160 Cr. The film is a blockbuster and the fourth highest-grosser among Kollywood Films. Other three are 2.0, PS-1 & Vikram. Collections are definitely huge but the film has performed much lesser than expectations when you look at the sequel collections of KGF-2 or Baahubali-2 in comparison with their prequels.

After the astonishing collections of PS-1, everyone expected PS-2 to open to bumper numbers which could be All Time Record numbers but the numbers fell pretty much lesser. In AP/TS PS-1 has done just 60% business of PS-2 despite there was larger scope for improvement. PS-1 Collected 9.7 Cr distributor share while PS-2 collected 6 Cr Share.

In Overseas PS-1 has collected close to $16 Million & PS-2 collected $21 Million.

First Week Box office Update – PS2 below par, Agent is a Washout

Agent is a huge disaster at the box office with a worldwide closing share at 6.5 Cr. Theatrical rights of the film are valued at 36 Cr and the film hasn’t even recovered 20 percent of it. The closing gross of the film is a mere 14 Cr. The fact is that the Agent’s closing share is less than the Hero’s Debut film (Akhil: The Power of Jua) opening day share.

Ps2 has a below-par first week in the Telugu States with a gross of 11.6 Cr and distributor share at 5.40 Cr. In comparison, the first-week numbers of P2 are less than the weekend numbers of PS1. The numbers of PS2 worldwide in all languages are less than PS1 and it’s a shocker for a Sequel which is the Industry’s highest grosser.

PS-2 AP/TS first weekend collections – Below Par

PS-2 has a below-par first weekend in the Telugu States with a distributor share of 4 Cr and gross of 7.60 Cr. The numbers are half of PS-1 although one would say that competition has hampered the numbers that ain’t the case the film isn’t even filling half of the capacity it has. It should at least show any growth over the weekend with below-par numbers on the opening day but that didn’t happen. The film is doing well in the home markets and that was the case with the first part.

Mani Ratnam heaps praise on SS Rajamouli

Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS 2) is all set for a grand release in theatres on the 28th of April. As part of it, there was a promotional event in Hyderabad on Sunday. Speaking at the event, Mani Ratnam said, If Rajamouli had not made Baahubali in two parts, Ponniyin Selvan might not have happened in two parts.

Mani Ratnam said Rajamouli created a path for Indian mythological movies. He thanked Rajamouli on this occasion and said Baahubali gave confidence to the entire Indian cinema industry to do historical films. Mani Ratnam tried of making Ponniyin Selvan in 1994 and 2011, but both times he was unsuccessful.

Lyca Productions, Pen India Limited and Red Giant Movies are bankrolling this film. First part, PS1 was released on 30th September 2022 and it impressed only the Tamil audience.

Vikram opens up about his 23-odd surgeries

As part of Chiyaan Vikram’s upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 movie promotions, he shared about the early struggles he has gone through. Vikram at the age of 12, while riding a pillion on his friend’s bike, met with an accident where his right leg was completely crushed from knee to ankle.

Vikram’s bones were crushed, and his tissues and skin were damaged badly. When doctors of Rayapeta Hospital suggested removing his leg, Vikram’s mother dint sign the consent form. At one stage, there was only a 2 per cent chance of saving the right leg. He said that the accident took four years for him to completely walk. He was in a wheelchair for 3 years and was on crutches for one year. Vikram underwent 23 surgeries to save his leg. Even after the treatment was completed, Vikram has to visit the hospital frequently due to infections.

This is known news as Vikram has shared this many times. But, the actor’s will power and dedication need to be addressed every time, what made him highly successful today.

Release date of Ponniyin Selvan 2 Announced

Veteran director Mani Ratnam is back with a bang and his dream project Ponniyin Selvan 1 received an exceptional response. The film is a massive hit across the Tamil circles and it did well in Telugu and Hindi languages. Mani Ratnam is also done with the shoot of Ponniyin Selvan 2 and the post-production work is happening at a faster pace. The makers today announced that Ponniyin Selvan 2 will head for a theatrical release on April 28th, 2023 in all the Indian languages. Mani Ratnam and the makers recovered the entire investment with the first part itself. They made more profits because of the massive theatrical run of the first part.

Mani Ratnam acquired the dates of all the actors and completed the shoot in a record time. He could save big on the budget because of the crisp shooting. Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, R. Parthiban played the lead roles in this historic franchise. Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions are the producers.
