Remember the scene in ‘Srimanthudu’ where a magnanimous Mahesh Babu donates for the building of a school and sees that it gets completed successfully ? The scene has been repeating in real life. Time and again, our Superstar has proved that he is a man of actions and not just words.
It’s well known that Mahesh has adopted Siddapuram village in Telangana along with his home village, Burripalem, in Andhra. The Superstar, who has been busy with films, has also been doing great charitable work in these villages.
Last year in March, Namrata handed over a cheque for Rs. 30 lakh to Rangareddy district collector, Raghunandan Rao, through NATCO trust for the construction of a school building in Siddhapuram.
Now the construction work of the school is in progress and Mahesh babu has expressed his happiness over the work. “Our new school building in Siddhapuram 🙂 Construction in progress 👍👍looking forward to its completion 🙂 Thanks to our architect Sudhir Reddy and his team for such amazing work “, the Superstar wrote on his facebook page.
Hope the great work continues. Way to go Mahesh 👍
It’s been two years since the release of Telugu blockbuster “Srimanthudu, and its director Koratala Siva says the memories attached with the project are still fresh in his memory.
“Two years just flew by but the memories are still fresh. Many moments to cherish,” Siva tweeted on Monday.
Starring Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan, “Srimanthudu” is the story of a millionaire who vows to transform a village but has to face many obstacles in the process. It is one of the biggest grossers in Mahesh Babu’s career.
The film, produced by Mythri Movie Makers, marked the first collaboration of Mahesh and Siva.
The director-actor duo has teamed up for a second time for upcoming Telugu political thriller “Bharath Ane Nenu”.
Superstar Mahesh Babu scored his career’s best with Srimanthudu. The actor has been left in heaps of praises after the release however it even brought enough problems for the actor. A writer named Sarath Chandra stepped out saying that the script of Srimanthudu has been copied from his story ‘Chachentha Prema’ which has been published in Swathi weekly magazine in 2012. Court summoned Mahesh Babu, Koratala Siva and Naveen Yerneni asking them to attend the hearing.
Mahesh’s lawyer argued today that Mahesh has not been involved into the script or direction and it doesn’t require his presence in the court. The court today said that Mahesh is no exception and asked him to appear before the court for the next hearing. While Koratala Siva called the allegations baseless.
If the ongoing buzz in the film circles and media is to be believed, Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and ace filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas will team up for the third time in their careers. Earlier they have worked for Jalsa and Attarinitiki Daredhi. Both these films fared exceptionally well and ended as blockbuster hits at the box office.
It is learnt that Mythri Movie Makers, who made their debut with Srimanthudu, will shepherd the project which is likely to go on floors by the end of next year. They are currently busy with the pre production work of their next film which will be directed by Koratala Siva featuring NTR and Samantha.
A close source to the production house has disclosed that they are willing to pay hefty remuneration to both Trivikram and Pawan Kalyan for the project. Both of them are currently working for their upcoming projects which will be wrapped up early next year.
Trivikram’s A..Aa will hit the screens in January and Pawan Kalyan’s Sardar Gabbar Singh will release in April. We have to wait for an official confirmation regarding the ongoing buzz.
This is the first time Ramajogaiah Shastry is writing lyrics for Bajirao Mastani in Telugu and Madan Karku, son Of Vairmutthu is doing it in Tamil. He was seen in a clipping in a song in Srimanthudu, in Surya Vs Surya. “I like to be seen in films..it is fun but I am not too sure if I can speak dialogues and pull it off. Lot of people showed warmth when I came in that particular scene, I feel blessed.” Boyapati, Dictator, Brahmotsavam, Maruti-Venkatesh, Bajirao..Chuttalabbyi, Ramaraju’s Oka Manasu, Anil Ravipudi film..so on..are the movies he is working. “People come to me with lot affection and expectation, not business attachment. I work towards living up to all that. If a person wants a song overnight I can pull it off but I always keep exploring something new. After listening to it I should not feel something amiss..I should like it first. ”
Srimanthudu is a rare film in present day scenario which is winning both hearts and boxoffice. Such films are very scarcely being made these days. Even in its 6th week, the film is unstoppable at the boxoffice and accolades are pouring in. Latest celebrity to appreciate the film is none other than Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu. Chandra Babu Naidu tweeted “Watched Srimanthudu. Great movie on giving back to society. Glad that the message reflects ‘Smart Village Smart Ward’.” Mahesh Babu immediately replied “Humbled and honoured sir. Glad you liked our film. Thank you very much.” Srimanthudu is currently the second biggest hit in Tollywood.
Super Star Mahesh Babu‘s Srimanthudu 50 days run will be celebrated in style. For the first time ever, 50 days function of a Telugu film will be held outside India. 50 days event of Srimanthudu is planned in New Jersey, America. This event will be held on October 24th 2015. A grand gala chain of events are being planned for this function.
Choreographers and dancers will be flown in from India to perform at this star studded event. Entire cast and crew of the film will be in full attendance to celebrate. Mahesh Babu, Sruthi Hassan, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Sampath and all other main cast are confirmed to be present. Producers Mythri Movie Makers are pulling all stops to make this function a huge success.
Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu’s latest family entertainer Srimanthudu has been registering thumping collections ever since its release on August 7th worldwide. Already the film is placed 2nd in the list of all time top grossing Tollywood films. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film was directed by Koratala Siva. Shruti Haasan is the heroine.
As per the latest trade reports, the total collections of Srimanthudu have zoomed past the 100 Crore mark. Mahesh Babu’s top notch performance coupled with touching family drama helped the movie garner mind blowing collections in all areas. Even in the 5th week, the collections are pretty decent. Needless to say, Mahesh Babu is very happy with the result and he is now getting ready to commence shooting for Brahmotsavam in Srikanth Addala’s direction.
With the success of Baahubali, and Srimanthudu and not so recent Malli Malli Idhi Rani Roju, the audience are thronging theatres to watch sensible cinema. Few people in the industry even commented that the above films are a hit even without a Brahmanandam in it. Are the film makers responsible for not dishing out strong content oriented cinema? Are they scared that the audience might reject anything that doesn’t have fun? A few film makers give their perspective to Telugu360.com about cinema post Srimanthudu.
Ask Chandoo Mondeti who made his debut with Karthikeya, how he risked doing something offbeat at a time when people were going to the theatres for the same kind of formula comedy. He says, “If cinema is good, people will watch it 100 percent. Quality in cinema, be it story or 24 Crafts, has definitely begun. Karthikeya is a safe bet, I thought if I make a run of the mill story, I would be thrown out. I was sure that even though the film might not be a commercial success, people will definitely appreciate it. You should tell the story you want it to be. In Karthikeya there is a dialogue in the beginning that takes place in the mortuary…suspense ki comedy thodu avuthe, film is a hit. Look at Rajkumar Hirani – whatever the genre is he says it with entertainment-be it God or Gandhigiri.
People will not remember regular cinema, they might enjoy it nevertheless. Flop or hit, no one can predict but the amount you spend if controlled, you can be safe. Without Brahmanandam, Baahubali and Srimanthudi have become blockbusters, that is what industry people and media is saying. But if Brahmannadam is present, there will be buyers but with the success of these two films, the story has taken a different turn. Brahmanandam ni pettukunte story work out avvali, otherwise it is a disaster. There should be a capable director who should control him. Never blame the audience, not necessary to depend on a comedian, instead depend on a story.”
There were films like Pandaga Chesuko that didn’t get good reviews but all the buyers were safe. That is one kind of entertainment we are unable to judge. Masala had better content and it was a multi starrer, but it was a complete wash out, there was no audience for the matinee show. Venkatadri Express director Merlapaka Gandhi comments, “Content is important, people will enjoy anything, be it Ready or Dhee. New films are coming. Kanche trailer adiripoyindi, it is a new genre. Entertainment is not about Brahmanandam or Vennela Kishore, it is characterisations. In Srimanthudu, there was no fun but there was content. Audience will enjoy even if you recycle an old story. The artistes are not important, how you portray their characters matter. My film with Sharwanand will be different, it is a road movie with all ingredients, different screenplay. I should like the story first, I want some magic even before the audience likes it. Venkatadri Express was on train. Because I don’t want the story to stop, it should be moving. Something is happening aney feel untadhi. I like stories that move, there will be fun in the screenplay. Almost 75 percent of the film is done.”
Damodar Prasad says never talk about audience, they are receptive to anything, we do the same crap always. He adds, “One film runs and we follow the same formula. Let us not blame the audience by talking about formula and Brahmanandam. Maro Charitra was ahead of time, so was Julie, didn’t we see it? Business and safety is a different ball game. You make a blue film, it will run but that is not business. It was a different phase when all the films starring Brahmanandam worked. Brahmanandam is a maha natudu in working out comedy but athanu untene cinema nadusthundi is wrong. For an earlier film, they said it was MS Narayana who contributed to the success. How long can you make the same films, no wonder Aagadu and Kick failed. People are fed up. You want to make a realistic film or film with fantasy. Which format do you want? If there is a new concept, people will definitely watch. Writers too will change with the audience, they will shift the style of writing and content. Kotthaga alochistaru, kotthaga raastharu.”
He further states, “I want to be in the business and make money but what do you do, which route do you take? Shorter one or the longer one? No one is wrong, but it is just a matter of perspective and choice. Some people don’t want to experiment and they take the safest route. Everything has a plus and minus. When I did Anthakamundu, everyone said it is a bold step but I went ahead. People say 101 things, but what is that the film maker ultimately wants? Every generation audience has been receptive, it is we who are looking for safety as it is a high stake business. When it comes to quality, we are still down compared to the Hindi film industry.”
[intro]After a long time, Tollywood has shown the way to anchor the audiences’ eyeballs and belt out massive hits, back-to-back.[/intro]
The satellite rights of “Bhale Bhale Mogadivoi” were bought by MAA TV for Rs.3.6 crores. That’s more than half as much as the producers would have incurred for the entire movie. The distribution rights of BBM were sold for Rs.50 lakhs in the USA but the Share has crossed 2.5 Crores ( Gross being 6 Crores) – a Return of Investment (RoI) of 500 per cent in USA ! Overall, the film is expected to do a total worldwide share of Rs.22-24 Crores(excluding satellite rights) which means an overall RoI of 400 pc! With such a runaway hit where the concept of “mind diversion” has found an instant rapport with the audience, the producers of the film will be encouraged to dub the movie in Tamil and also remake the film in Hindi – for which they have to find a suitable actor who can carry the film as well as Nani – say someone, like Ranvir Kapoor or Ranbir Singh or even Aamir Khan.
Infact, think about Aamir Khan teaming up with Geetha Arts, one of the producers of BBM – it may not be a bad idea to remake BBM as the sequel to Ghajini and name it as Ghajini-2. The success of BBM completes a golden quarter for Tollywood which wipes out a multi-year deficit of flops outnumbering hits. In a film industry which makes the second-highest or often, the highest number of films per year, the success ratio has gone below 4 per cent in recent years, but this season – two big-budget films – “Bahubali” and “Srimanthudu” and two small-budget films “Cinema Choopistha Maave” and “Bhale Bhale Mogadivoi” scored bumper hits though the RoI on these films varies largely. While BB may have given an RoI of 100 per cent or above (which includes the budget of second part and the interest cost), “Srimanthudu” gave an RoI of 200 pert cent (Rs. 80 crores on a budget of Rs.40 crores), CCM an RoI of 200 per cent (Rs.10 crores on Rs. 5 crores budget) and BBM an RoI of 400 per cent.
What is common to the success of the four films? Good story and starcast relevant to the content of the film. Excellent production values despite the different budget constraints. Entertainment that is enmeshed with the storyline. Absence of loud and iconic comedians like Brahmanandam who can inflate the budgets per day of shooting. Hit music and rich cinematography. Besides all the above factors, the marketing of all the four films was done brilliantly with small changes. In case of “Bahubali“, the marketing methods have already entered the hall of fame and will be talked about for long time. “Srimanthudu” which came after “Bahubali” made relevant noise with the teaser and music and publicity blitz which included pre-release interviews by the lead actors. “CCM” released a trailer with “Srimanthudu” and the promos of the film made it stand apart like a fun film to watch. “BBM” started airing promotional videos atleast four weeks before its release – an unprecedented move from a low-budget film.
In the end, all of these paid off big time, paving way for a golden year for Tollywood. If these four films could pull it off in a post-summer quarter, optimism is at a new high for film-makers as more releases are lined up for the upcoming busy festival season. Tollywood is on a new high and enjoying the highest visibility in the country with blockbuster hits like “Bahubali” and “Srimanthudu” and hits from low-budget films. Something that has become the envy of even Kollywood – which has had a bad year with a string of flops for all the leading superstars like Rajinikanth, Suriyaa, Vikram and Kamal Hassan. After a long time, Tollywood has shown the way to anchor the audiences’ eyeballs and belt out massive hits, back-to-back.

Srimanthudu makers are making smart moves to maximize their profits from the project. Already sitting pretty on huge profits, Mythri Movie Makers have come up with an idea to add couple of new scenes to the film to attract repeat audience and fans to the theaters. A scene in which Sampath warns Chandra Mohan’s family and another scene in which the whole village makes way to the villains will be added from today to all the screens which are playing Srimanthudu. This addition of scenes is likely to help the revenue of the film this weekend. Mahesh Babu and Mythri Movie Makers are turning out to be a shrewd combination of businessmen.
Mahesh Babu is on a roll. He is all set to adopt villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana staying true to the spirit of Srimanthudu. Yesterday night the Super Star tweeted ” The
Smart Village initiative lead by Chandra Babu Naidu garu prompted me to adopt my own village, Burripalem. This would not have happened without the support of my brother-in-law, Jayadev Galla, MP from Guntur. Very Humbled after receiving a congratulatory call on the success of Srimanthudu from Minister KTR. He suggested I adopt a village from the most backward district of Mahbubnagar as part of their Grama Jyothi initiative. I said YES 🙂 more details to be announced soon. Srimanthudu is a special film for many reasons 🙂 Gained immense respect and love from all my fans. Made me more human :)” We congratulate Mahesh Babu wholeheartedly for showing his kindness towards these villages.
