CBI books Ex CBI director: Yuva Neta likely in trouble?

An FIR has been filed against former director of CBI Amar Pratap Singh who has come under the scanner of the agency for allegedly favoring controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi and the lobbyists paid via Qureshi. CBI under Sec.154 of Cr PC filed a FIR against Pradeep Koneru, Moin Quershi, Aditya Sharma and A P Singh.

Pradeep Koneru is the son of Prasad Koneru who is the owner of Trimex Group of Companies Hyderabad. Koneru Prasad is accused of amassing wealth illegally through Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and is one of the accused in Quid-Pro-Cases along with Jagan. Before contesting in 2014 parliamentary elections from Vijayawada, Koneru Prasad spent some time in jail. However, after losing the deposit in elections, Prasad resigned from YSRCP.

The CBI conducted raids in four locations of Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ghaziabad and Chennai on Sunday. This could mean more trouble for the leader as Koneru Pradeep is also being investigated by the CBI in connection with the disproportionate assets case against the Neta. While the Telugu leader is not named in the fresh FIR, if any connections surface between Pradeep Koneru and Yuvaneta in this regard, it would mean another chunk of cases against him.

The copy of the latest CBI FIR obtained by Telugu360 shows the recorded SMSes between Koneru and the lobbyist Qureshi and others. It can be seen that Mr. Koneru tried relentlessly to transfer then CBI Joint director V.V. Laxminarayana out of Hyderabad. It would be interesting to watch out for the findings that the investigation would reveal. Especially if Koneru Pradeep independently acted while trying to bribe the then CBI director AP Singh? Or did he act on behest of Neta?

This is second time that a CBI director is facing charges. The Supreme Court in January ordered a CBI probe against former chief of the investigation agency Ranjit Sinha in connection with the coal block allocation scam case. Ranjit Sinha succeeded A P Singh as CBI director.
