RX100 Movie Review Telugu

Telugu360 Rating 2.25/5

RX100 is the film which managed to grab the attention of audience despite having newcomers, Karthikeya and Payal Rajput, in lead roles. The bold and striking trailers and posters have created decent buzz on the film. Will RX 100 become the next Arjun Reddy of Tollywood? Let’s find out now

Story:

Shiva( Karthikeya) is an orphan raised by his father’s friend Ramky in a village. Shiva and Ramky ( Nicknamed ‘Daddy’) work for Athreyapuram ZPTC Vishwanadham ( Rao Ramesh). Viswanadham’s daughter Indu( Payal Rajput) visits the village for holidays, and falls in love with Shiva. After an intimate relation with Indu, Shiva develops serious love for her. One night her father notices his daughter is in love with Shiva, soon arranges her marriage with an NRI. Indu marries that NRI and leaves for USA, then Shiva turns arrogant and mad. 3 years after the marriage, when she returns to the village, story takes an interesting turn. Rest of the story is about why she was married an NRI without any resistance while in love with Shiva, how Shiva tries to take revenge etc.

Analysis:

Theme wise RX100 has a routine template of ‘rich girl loves middle class boy, girl’s parents oppose the relation ‘. What makes this story bit interesting towards the end is the female protagonist’s characterization. She is sexy, bold and her dimension is new to Tollywood. The intimate romantic and prolonged lip lock scenes appeal to certain section of youth. Whole film has been shot in natural locations with realistic treatment. There are neither sets nor colourful village scenery – everything is rustic. The film’s tone is close to tamil dark love stories from direction point of view.

Last 30 minutes of the film is engaging but remaining film is amateurish at times and bore for majority of the duration. In an attempt to keep the proceedings authentic, the director took realistic narration path, hence cinematic experience gone missing. Entire first half was wasted with no creative stuff or entertainment. The character names ( Gampa Kasi , Katari etc. ) appear to be taken from real story. The characterizations are poorly established unlike Arjun Reddy. Compared to Arjun reddy this film is nowhere closer. Arjun Reddy was first-hand experience of its director and this RX100 seems director has picked someone’s true story. Few scenes ended up as a laughing stock. Couple of songs are good to hear.

Performances:

New heroine Payal Rajput looks good, acted decent as well. She might get few more chances in Telugu films. Hero Karthikeya has well-toned physique and looks wise adequate. He got Shiva character which has a scope to perform wide range of emotions. Few scenes he did well, and in few the new entrant’s obvious failure is visible. Overall, if he picks right subjects can sustain in Tollywood. Yesteryear actor Ramky got a lengthy role, he is okay. Rao Ramesh got a role which is a T-fit for him.

Had the director infused some rural comedy or entertainment in first half, this film would have been minimum guarantee.Unwanted influence from Arjun reddy can be seen here and there , especially hero characterization

Positives:

  • Debut heroine Payal Rajput
  • Rao Ramesh scene about current generation girls
  • Intimate romance scenes (for youth)

Negatives:

  • Boring first half
  • Lack of entertainment
  • Overdose of Lip lock scenes, Excessive violence
  • Noisy background score

Verdict:

RX100 first half is shallow, second half is raw and gore with an interesting twist at the end. Only a limited section of audience may like this dark and rustic film. Made on a shoestring budget, this film might recover at box-office in AP , TS  states
