Ganta lobbying for Chiranjeevi’s entry into TDP

0

Tollywood actor and Rajya Sabha Member from Congress Konidela Chiranjeevi’s term will end in March2018. With the Kapu factor being decisive in 2019 elections, the ruling Telugu Desham and opposition YSR Congress parties have reportedly started lobbying for retaining his membership in the upper house by nominating him again but from their party

Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao who rode along with Chiranjeevi in his Praja Rajyam party, is giving his best shot to persuade the MP to switch allegiance to TDP. Another member from PRP, Kamineni Srinivas, though he belongs to BJP is helping Ganta in convincing Chiranjeevi to at least consider the offer.

However, the actor-cum-politician time and again denied reports of defection. Once his tenure ends, Chiranjeevi cannot be re-elected from Congress as it doesn’t have presence in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh on the verge of falling into debt-trap

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is often heard saying that despite extreme financial crisis in the state, TDP is implementing the welfare programmes successfully. The financial crisis caused by bifurcation of the state continuous to haunt, as the debt burden is increasing exponentially with each month passing. Within just two months, the government has borrowed Rs 10,500 crore.

As per the budget provisions for the financial year 2017-18, the total amount Rs 26,819 crore loans can be taken of which Rs 21,528 crores have already been taken by the second quarter.

The state government could borrow maximum of Rs 5,500 crores in the second quarter (July-September) as per the reports to the Reserve Bank of India. However, in July Rs 3000 crores, in August Rs 4500 crores and now in September Rs 3000crore loans were taken accounting to Rs 10500 crore to bridge the gap between the needs and the revenue.

There are various reasons for loaning the amount – primarily due to failure in securing grants from Centre and funds for central government’s projects apart from the change in tax regime GST. If this scenario continues, the provisions of FRBM act will be violated and the credit score of the state will be impacted. It’s time for the government to introspect before fully falling into the debt-trap.

BARC Ratings : TV9 remains the market leader

0

Andhra Pradesh witnessed two elections in the month of August, but there was hardly any impact on the ratings of the Telugu news channels. TV9, NTV and ABN Andhra Jyothy continue to be TRP toppers. V6 and 10TV have been vigorously competing for the fifth position. While in the previous month V6 was in 5th position, this time it slipped one place paving way for 10TV in the top five. The inclined coverage of Nandyal election did not effect, Sakshi which remained in the seventh position. ETV Telangana and ETV Andhra Pradesh evidently alone or together couldn’t surpass the regional channel T News which is 8th in the list. Gemini which tops the ratings in entertainment segment has never made it to top10 in the news segment. HMTV, I News, Studio N and Jai Telangana TV are the tail enders.

Lokesh sees a friend in Pawan Kalyan, hints at TDP-JSP alliance in 2019

0

Andhra Pradesh Minister of IT&C Nara Lokesh said that Jana Sena Party is their ally. He said that Bharatiya Janata Party and Jana Sena are ‘our allies’ and that they are going forward together. He hinted that Jana Sena will tag along with TDP in 2019 elections.

Responding to a question that if TDP wins 175 of 175 seats, does that mean Jana Sena won’t win any seat, Lokesh said that TDP along with their allies will secure all the assembly constituencies in the state.

He also said that it is unfair to say that the government reacts only when Pawan Kalyan extends his support. Lokesh noted that the government will solve any problem brought to their notice and recalled that they had solved the problem of the Mirchi farmers.

Lokesh’s does the math, says it is 175/175

0

BJP Rajya Sabha Member Amit Shah these days is singing the tune of ‘Mission 350+’ seats in 2019 elections. Taking a leaf out of his book, Andhra Pradesh Minister of IT&C Nara Lokesh is maintaining 175 tempo – the number of assembly constituencies. Sky is the limit for the MLC who recently prophesied that TDP will win in all the 175 constituencies in the 2019 assembly elections.

The TDP national general secretary stood by his prediction, in response to the query by TV9 reporter if they will win in Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s constituency Pulivendula. Despite the TV9 reporter dropping hints that he is being unrealistic, Lokesh sang the same 175 tune.

While Amit Shah is making strategic moves to secure 350+ seats in the 543 constituencies, Lokesh kept chanting 175 number. He even said that if the assembly constituencies are increased to 225, TDP will win in 225 constituencies.

It evident from his words that this is not a merely slip of tongue but being done tactically. Political parties in the power are bound to amplify things, to show their strength and weaken the opposition parties, but this over-exaggeration is ridiculous.

MetroMan suggests Medium Metro for Vijayawada, says ‘No’ to LMR

0

Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly considering to go ahead with the implementing the Vijayawada Metro Rail project, after Centre’s new policy for expanding and regulating metro rail services.

MetroMan E Sreedharan who met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday allegedly advised the GoAP to seek exemption from Centre from the new metro rail policy as Medium metro would be a better option over Light metro rail (LMR).

Sreedharan reportedly said that the LMR will be useless and lacking and held that it will be a tough task for AP to get approvals from the central government

He held that it would be easy to get Centre’s nod for Medium Metro Rail as the detailed project report (DPR) is already with Union Finance Ministry.

It may be recalled that, following Edward Dotson suggestion that the LMR would be a better option for Vijayawada, Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) hit the board to prepare the DPR.

Pawan Kalyan in line with Naidu’s expectations

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in 2014 thought that there would be inflow of funds after bifurcation of state and recently said that the election promises were made before division. On the contrary TDP’s manifesto was released after bifurcation. Pawan Kalyan is closely following the footsteps of Chandrababu in retracing his steps.

Jana Sena Party’s stand on Special Category status and Aqua Food Park is confusing like TDP’s stance on election manifesto. On its official website, the party lists Aqua Food Park, Uddanam and Special status under issues section.

In October last year, Kalyan extended support to the villagers opposing Aqua Food park but did not own it the way he did Uddanam issue or G.O. 64. Furthermore, he said that as long as the park is being built following the norms of pollution control board, there is no point in agitating.

In his take on special category status, Kalyan pointed that the central government is giving special package instead and that the NDA government has clarified its limitations and objections to give the SCS. Furthermore, he advised opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to take up the issue in the legislature.

Kalyan is noticeably directing the attention of the government on issues which can be solved easily by Chandrababu. The GO 64 was cancelled, exactly a week after Pawan Kalyan extended his support to agriculture students who were protesting for about 35days.

It is known that Kalyan extends support to anyone who reaches out to him –be it land acquisition for capital construction or AgriGold scam or assistance to handloom sector. In these issues the stand of Jana Sena Party is uncertain.

Andhra Pradesh signs MoU for Hyperloop, feasibility study to start next month

4

Having junked the proposed metro project from Vijaywada, the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday joined hands with a US-based company to introduce the futuristic “Hyperloop” transportation system in the state capital region, Amrawati.

If everything goes well, this will be the first Hyperloop project to be implemented in India.

The concept of Hyperloop mode of transportation is notably backed by business magnate and inventor Elon Musk. But it has not been implemented for practical use anywhere in the world yet.

The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (AP-EDB) and the US- based Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Amaravati. But an official release on the MoU did not disclose the probable cost of the project.

The project will be taken up in the public-private- partnership mode with the funding coming primarily from private investors, the release said.

Hyperloop envisages a ‘tube modular transport system’ that runs free of friction. It is still in trial stages in different countries.

Following his first interaction with HTT executives during the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in January, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu held another round of talks with them at the Secretariat here recently.

HTT chairman and co-founder Bibop Gresta and EDB CEO J Krishna Kishore signed the MoU.

Hyperloop is proposed to be introduced between the city centres of Vijayawada and Amaravati. It will supposedly cover the distance of over 35 km only in five minutes.

Under the MoU, the HTT will conduct a feasibility study from the next month to “analyse the surrounding cityscapes to create the best route between the two cities”. “After the six-month feasibility study, we will construct and build the first Hyperloop in India,” the HTT said.

“The AP-EDB, along with the state government, will assist HTT with all regulatory requirements and develop and implement Hyperloop in Amaravati,” CEO Kishore was quoted as saying in the release.

0

Transstroy’s delay in Polavaram works angers Chandrababu, likely to be side-lined

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took a serious note of the visible delay in prestigious Polavaram project by the executing agency Transstroy India Ltd. State Water Resources Department officials reportedly issued show-cause notice to the owners of the company asking them to cite the reason for delay and giving detailed information on how they are planning to complete the project within the stipulated period of time.

GoAP is allegedly prepared to relief the primary executing agency from certain responsibilities, so that they can complete the target to supply water through gravity by 2018. The state government is apparently examining the possibility of handing over the tasks to a different organization and this time a well reputed firm.

A part of Spillway and concrete works, the major related tasks which are outstanding will reportedly be given another company through tenders. The State Water Resources Department has not only taken stringent measures in this regard but also reported to the Central Water Resources Department already. Upon getting approval from the centre, the tenders will be called and the project will be assigned to new company most probably in the first week of October.
