Mansas Trust case: AP High Court rules in favour of Ashok Gajapathi Raju

The AP High Court on Wednesday (today) dismissed petitions filed by Andhra Pradesh government and Sanchaitha Gajapathi Raju challenging the orders passed by single judge reinstating TDP senior leader P Ashok Gajapathi Raju as chairman of Manas Trust.

The AP High Court upheld the orders passed by single judge and ruled that Ashok Gajapathi Raju will continue as chairman of Mansas Trust.

Sanchaitha also filed three separate petitions challenging the single judge order.

However, the division bench of AP High Court headed by Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami dismissed all these petitions.

It may be recalled that AP government had filed three appeal petitions in July arguing that the single judge erred in his judgment which was based on the will deed which has become void.

It may be also recalled that the government had removed Ashok as chairman of Mansas trust and Simhachalam temple trust on March 3, 2020, and appointed Sanchaitha Gajapathi Raju in his place by recognising her as the founder family member.

Ashok challenged his removal in the high court, arguing that he was removed arbitrarily without following due procedure. He also stated that his removal was against the trust deed which stipulates that only the eldest male lineal descendants can be appointed as chairman of the trust.

The government defended its move, arguing that Sanchaitha was eligible for the position and cannot be discriminated based on gender.

The high court, however, set aside the GO and reinstated Ashok as chairman of the two trusts. But AP government appealed against the order, arguing that the single judge made an error in his judgement while ruling in favour of Ashok based on the trust deed which has become void after the 1987 legislation which abolishes all hereditary trusties.

The government has also argued that Sanchaitha has preferential right of succession over Ashok according to Hindu Succession Act.

Why are BJP leaders regularly meeting Ashok Gajapathi Raju?

Is North Andhra TDP stalwart and Vizianagaram royal scion Ashok Gajapati Raju planning to chart out a new political course? Is he planning to leave the TDP and join the BJP? Otherwise, what explains the regular meetings he is having with the local BJP leaders these days?

Ashok Gajapati has of late been meeting the BJP local leaders on a regular basis. The BJP leaders are visiting his office-cum-residence, which till recently housed the TDP district office. This has given rise to the suspicion that Ashok Gajapati is planning to look for alternatives. While Raju Garu himself has not said anything, the unusual regularity of the BJP visits to his fort has become a topic of discussion.

Sources close to the Vizianagaram fort say that Raju is upset that the TDP has not paid much attention to the issues he was facing during the Mansas Trust episode. While the YSRCP was aggressively cornering him, the TDP leaders in the district had moved away the district office from his fort and began functioning independent of him. The state party leadership too did not stand by him, feels Ashok Gajapati Raju. During this time, though weak and skeletal, the BJP leaders met him regularly and expressed their solidarity with him. This has led to a new-found bonhomie, say political analysts.

However, TDP sources say that there was no question of Ashok Gajapathi Raju joining hands with the BJP. Raju is one of the founding members of the party and has been synonymous with the TDP in Vizianagaram district. He may be unhappy, but this alone would not be reason enough for him to join the BJP, which never had any presence in North Andhra. On his part, Raju Garu is silent and is letting people make their own guesses.

Follow Ashok’s orders: AP High Court directs Mansas EO!

The Andhra Pradesh High Court today (Tuesday) directed Mansas Trust EO (executive officer) Satyanarayana to follow the orders issued by Mansas Trust chairman, senior TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju.

Raju filed contempt petition against EO stating that EO was not cooperating with him in discharging his duties as chairman in violation of earlier HC orders.

The High Court expressed anger at EO and directed him to obey orders issued by chairman Raju.

The court also directed EO to immediately pay salaries for staff working in Mansas Trust .

The court also cancelled orders issued by EO convening meeting of executive council.

The court directed EO not to involve others in auditing of Trust accounts.

The court asked EO to audit accounts only with auditor.

Though High Court struck down Jagan government’s earlier orders of removing Raju from chairman post and reinstated him as chairman, officials of Mansas Trust are not cooperating with Raju reportedly due to instructions from Jagan government.

Raju moved High Court filing contempt case against officials.

Traditional headgear not tied at Simhachalam, Ashok Gajapathi Raju says sacrilege

Buoyed up by the recent High Court upholding his rights as the hereditary chairperson of the Mansas Trust and the Simhachalam temple, former union minister and TDP biggie Ashok Gajapathi Raju has stepped up his attack on the YSRCP government.

On Wednesday, he paid a visit to Simhachalam temple for the first time after he was reinstated as the trust board chief. He raised strong objections at not being welcomed into the temple with traditional honours that befit the hereditary trust board. He strongly criticised the temple authorities for not tying the traditional headgear to him. He said this was a serious violation of the temple traditions.

He said he had received these honours even while he was not a hereditary chairperson. But, after being reinstated, he is still being insulted, Raju said. The temple priests told him that they had done away with this practice on the express orders of the endowments minister. They said this was being done due to the Covid restrictions.

At this, Raju snapped at them and said that temple’s hoary traditions should not be given a go by in the name of Covid restrictions. He said the hereditary chairperson should be given the respect he deserves. He also criticised the present government-appointed chairman and said that he was made a chairman for political considerations alone. He was jailed for financial improprieties. How can such a person be made the chairperson, he questioned.

It may be noted that when Supreme Court chief justice NV Ramana visited Yadadri in neighbouring Telagnana state, a traditional headgear was tied on him. Similar traditions were, however, not followed in Andhra Pradesh.

High Court cancels Jagan order on Ramatheertham

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has revoked the AP Government’s order and reinstated Ashok Gajapati Raju as the hereditary trustee of the Ramatheertham temple. The latest order was given after hearing the petition filed by the former Union Minister against the ‘unjust’ order of the Jagan Reddy Government.
With regard to the temples, the Government has no authority to remove the temple trustees who are there by virtue of their hereditary rights. Despite this, Ashok Gajapati Raju was removed from his post after the recent vandalisation of the Rama idol at Ramatheertham.

The Government has taken this action saying that the trustee could not take sufficient action for the prevention of such incidents at the temple premises. In fact, the TDP has alleged that the removal of Ashok Gajapati Raju was part of the political vendetta that was going on in the State.
Whatever, it has become a routine that the Government would give orders against its adversaries without checking the rules and laws. On their part, all the affected leaders and parties were going to the courts and eventually getting the Government’s orders cancelled.

Jagan GO removes Ashok Gajapathi Raju as East Godavari temples chairman

Even as the controversy over the appointment of Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju as the chairperson of MANSAS (Maharaja Alak Narayan Society of Arts and Sciences) Trust and Simhachalam Devasthanam Trust Board continues to rage, the Jagan government hurriedly brought in a new GO to remove senior TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the chairman of a group of temples in East Godavari.
As per the GO, the Jagan government has appointed Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju as the new chairman of the group of temples in East Godavari.
Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju is the daughter of former MP P Ananda Gajapathi Raju, elder brother of senior TDP leader and ex-Union minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
In the politics of vendetta, the Jagan government had already removed Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the chairperson of Simhachalam Devasthanam Trust Board replacing him with his niece Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju triggering a row between the Pusapati families. The MANSAS trust holds more than 14,800 acres of prime lands in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts worth more than Rs 50,000 crore. MANSAS also controls prime lands of 108 temples, including the Simhachalam Devasthanam
Reacting to the Andhra Pradesh government’s latest GO, Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s daughter Aditi Gajapathi Raju lashed out at the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to remove her father as the chairman of a group of temples in East Godavari. “This is a midnight GO brought in only to defame the Pusapati family. The hasty manner in which the GO was brought in raises suspicion. The MANSAS trust was set up by Pusapati families with high principles and ideals. The trust controls prime lands of 108 temples including the Simhachalam Devasthanam besides several educational institutions. The Andhra Pradesh government’s decisions are only to defame the Pusapati family and the high principles and values of the  MANSAS rust,” she said,
Further, Aditi Gajapathi Raju the Andhra Pradesh government was eyeing the properties of the Pusapati family, especially those which are under the  MANSAS Trust and Simachalam Devasthanam assets. “Simachalam Devasthanam has more than Rs 123 crore in FDs in various banks, while the MANSAS Trust has more than Rs 110 crore in FDs. The controversial move of the government to remove my father is to defame our family, and also usurp our properties,” Aditi Gajapathi Raju alleged.

Which Gajapathi will save MANSAS? Sanchaita or Ashok

Ever since the YCP came to power, the North Andhra socio-political scene has been seeing rising political temperatures. The Gajapathi Rajus’ royal family is witnessing the deepest cracks ever seen in recent history. With the backing of Vijay Sai Reddy, MANSAS Chairperson Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju is targetting and undermining all other members of the royal family. Recently, she engaged her own step sister Urmila Gajapati Raju in a bitter feud.
Now, Sanchaita targetted her attack on Ashok Gajapathi Raju. This is in the wake of ‘Save Mansas’ agitation picking up momentum in the North Andhra region. In view of the rising heat, Sanchaita took to Twitter and described the ongoing agitation as a ‘Save Ashok’ campaign. She said that Ashok has started it only to save his dwindling political career in the wake of coming to light of his scams in MANSAS one by one. Sanchaita declared that it was she who was making every effort to save MANSAS but not the TDP or anybody else.
Taking the discourse to a new low, Sanchaita has even called Ashok’s plans as cheap politicking. She went on to level allegations against him. She asked why Ashok did not start ‘Save MANSAS’ agitation when the 150 year old Moti Mahal was razed to the ground. He also kept mum without engaging any lawyer in his capacity as Trust Chairman when Rs 13 Cr worth property of MANSAS fell in the hands of private persons in the form of a court decree.
Sanchaita further said that Ashok gave over 8,000 acres of MANSAS to his followers on lease at a minimal rate of Rs. 500 which was very low compared to market rates. Seeing the bitterness exhibited by her, it seems Sanchaita will take the MANSAS dispute to its logical end sooner than later.

Pawan Kalyan takes a dig at TDP leaders for comments on Jana Sena

Actor-cum-politician Pawan Kalyan took to twitter to respond to Andhra Pradesh Minister for Labour and Employment Pithani Satyanarayana comments on Jana Sena Party. He wrote,”Ashok Gajapathi Raju Gariki Pawan kalyan evaro telliyudu Manthri Pithani gariki Pawan Kalyan ento telyudu.. SANTHOSHAM…”

It may be noted that Pithani said they have no time to think of Pawan Kalyan as he has never seen Jana Sena party’s president or Karayakarta or party flag anywhere.

Previously Union Minister of Civil Aviation and MP from Vizianagaram Ashok Gajapathi Raju speaking about the Jana Sena supremo said “I do not know who is Pawan Kalyan”.

While the TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have recognised the actor-cum-politician, the TDP leaders seem to sound different from their chief.

GMR Academy, RGNAU to offer PG diploma in airport operations

GMR Aviation Academy, the aviation/airport training arm of the GMR Group, on Monday signed an MoU with the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU) for a joint post graduate diploma in aviation/airport operations.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi by GMR Airports Ltd whole-time Director P.S. Nair, RGNAU Vice Chancellor, Air Vice Marshal Nalin Tandon in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Gajapathi Raju and Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey.

This is the first of its kind PG diploma course in aviation/airport operations for graduates aspiring to join the aviation industry. The objective of the MoU is to facilitate and promote professional aviation studies and provide in-depth knowledge of the functioning of an airport in particular and the aviation subsets, in general, GMR said in a statement here.

The one-year course includes a mix of theory and practical on-the-job training at the state-of-the-art GMR led airports at Hyderabad/Delhi.

“It is estimated that the aviation industry in India will require close to 1 million skilled personnel over the next 10-15 years which will pose a great challenge if adequate number of people are not trained in this highly specialised and complex area,” said Nair.

“The Indian civil aviation sector is currently growing at approximately 20 per cent and is expected to be the 3rd largest market by 2020. With such positive, India undoubtedly has the potential to become a significant part of the global supply chain. This will in turn steer demand for trained professionals in the field of aviation,” said Tandon.

Vizag airport brawl: J C Diwakar Reddy confesses taking Gajapathi Raju’s help

National Media especially the TRP toppers are giving their best to expose Telugu Desham Party Member of Parliament J C Diwakar Reddy who is yet again in news for his airport brawl. While Times Now exposed Reddy’s scuffle with Indigo officials at Vishakhapatnam airport, after a fortnight, Republic TV conducted a sting operation where the MP spilled beans that Civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju had helped him get the boarding pass.

As per the video clip, Reddy admits on camera that the minister intervened. He is seen repeatedly saying that the civil aviation minister told the station manager, “see his problem. That’s all. He never said get him the boarding pass”

It may be recalled that Raju in his tweet said, “I will get the entire incident at Vizag Airport enquired into to find out the exact details and ensure that lawful outcomes follow”

Owner of Diwakar travels not only refused to apologise but also questioned “why should I apologise? I’m a human being. I was in a hurry”. TDP MP admitted that he wanted to throw a printer as he was “emotional”. Reddy had several excuses for the incident and said that, “My conscience doesn’t believe I’m a culprit”

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu responding to the Republic TV hinted action against Reddy and asked MP’s to be “balanced” and said that “our efforts or actions should not have adverse effects on public life”.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju: All set to build Nellore airport

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that they are ready to build an airport in Nellore district. He attributed the delay, to land acquisition issue. Raju who visited the district today, said they are facing a problem in obtaining a small site. Subsequently, measures are being taken to resolve the issue and start the construction of airport.

Earlier in March, District Collector R. Mutyala Raju said that all the procedures of the project were being taken forward and there was no scope for any apprehensions.

In February 2016, the Union civil aviation ministry has given a nod for site clearance for airports at Dagadarthi in Nellore. The Nellore airport is likely to come up on around 1,352 acres at a cost of Rs 224 crore. The greenfield airport will be ‘no-frills’ which means it will have immediate traffic potential.

It is one of the 50 locations identified by the Central Government of India for the development of low-cost airports by the Airports Authority of India in order to improve connectivity to remote areas. The airport once operational would be advantageous for the people from Nellore, Prakasam districts and to some extent for the people in the border areas,

Ashok Gajapathi Raju: I do not know who is Pawan Kalyan

Telugu Desham Party leaders’ strategy is to forget things that aren’t worth remembering. The tradition of dis-remembering is not only limited to promises like Special Category Status and Vishakapatnam Railway Zone but also people who campaigned for their party in 2014 elections. The moment has come for Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan who was under the assumption that he was important for TDP-BJP, but signals from the ministers seem otherwise.

TDP leader and Union Minister for Civil Aviation Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s statements on Kalyan left everyone in disbelief. Raju was asked to respond to Kalyan’s latest tweets on the appointment of TTD EO. The MP from Vizianagaram said “I do not know who is Pawan Kalyan”. He said “Apparently Pawan Kalyan is an actor. I stopped watching movies twenty years ago”

Jana Sena supremo keeps warning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of going against their parties. The actor-turned politician earlier held that the BJP-led NDA government’s attitude is different after three years of ruling. Despite stating that Jana Sena is not ally with TDP or BJP, Kalyan has been going soft on both the parties that he had supported in 2014 elections. Will Jana Sena party chief go ahead and “question” both the governments now? Or Will he also follow the strategy ‘forgive and forget’?
