Kia Motors’ car plant to come up in Andhra

0

South Korean auto major Kia Motors will set up a car manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of $1.1 billion.

The plant to come up in Penugonda in Anantapur district will produce 3 lakh cars in a year. The work on the facility will start towards the end of this year while the production is expected to commence in the second half of 2019.

The company on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu..

“Kia plans to produce a strategic compact sedan and compact SUV especially for the Indian market at the new plant, which will occupy around 23 million square feet and incorporate facilities for stamping, welding, painting and assembly. The site will also be home to numerous supplier companies’ facilities,” said a company statement.

The state government has allotted 600 acres of land for the plant, which will provide direct employment to 10,000 people.

“It will enable us to sell cars in the world’s fifth largest market, while providing greater flexibility for our global business. Worldwide demand for Kia cars is growing and this is our latest step towards becoming a leading global car manufacturer,” said Han-Woo Park, President of Kia Motors.

The company said construction of a new manufacturing facility in India will enable it to maintain its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing automobile brands. With this the company will start selling its models in India, and benefit from further sustainable sales growth, locally and internationally.

India is the fastest growing major new car market and the fifth largest in the world, with more than 3.3 million new cars sold in 2016. Forecasts suggest the country will become the third-largest car market by the end of 2020, it added.

AP moves from ‘World Class’ tag to ‘World Best’ tag for Amaravati

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had come up with a new phrase to describe the new capital, Amaravati. Right from the day one of his plans for the new capital, he had been using the phrase of World Class capital to describe Amaravati plans. He wanted Amaravati to be the global destination for investments and employment.

Now, the buzz word is “World Best”. Chandrababu Naidu wants the Amaravati city to be the world’s best right from its planning to the designs of the structures. As the master plan and the plans for the structures, including bridges across river Krishna are in the final stage, the Chief Minister wants everything now to be the world’s best. He is very particular about the representation of the Telugu culture, the historical Buddhist connection and the prestigious Kuchipudi tradition reflected in every sphere.
Of the two proposed bridges across river Krishna, one bridge would be the total reflection of the Kuchipudi Mudra (dance form). The design of the bridge is in its final stage and the Chief Minister wanted it to be the special attraction for the tourists. The bridge is would have four lanes besides additional space for the people to walk around in the evenings.

The hills around Undavalli and Penumaka, besides the Vaikuntapuram and Harischandrapuram too would be made tourist attractions. The seven Islands in river Krishna, besides the existing Bhavani Island, would also be converted into tourist places.

The government city, slated to come up on 900 acres near Uddandarayapalem too would reflect the Telugu and Buddhist cultures. The city would have the Assembly, Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s Office and the residences for the Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and senior bureaucrats. Chandrababu Naidu wants every structure here should be the world’s best and reflect the Telugu culture. The focus now is on the design of the Assembly building which would have an iconic tower that is expected to go about 500 meters height housing the Assembly and Council Halls, offices of the Speaker and the political parties.

The new city would have metro bus services on the main roads, pollution-free electric bus services in the internal roads. This would be in addition to the water transport being planned in the city. “Every movement and every travel from one place to the other should not take more than 30 minutes,” is what the Chief Minister is insisting on the planners and designers.

In all probability, the Chief Minister is firm on launching the works of the two bridges across the river and the Government city with the construction of Assembly complex on priority. The works on the roads is in progress and they are set to complete 80 per cent in the next six months. Special focus is being laid on the greenery development in the city, along the roads and around the buildings. “All this would make the city a best in the world,” Chandrababu Naidu asserted.

City Gallery’ first of its kind in India to come up in Amaravati

0

Vijayawada: In a review meeting held on Amaravati project, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the proposal for a ‘City Gallery’ which will serve as a “Amaravati Experience Centre”.

The city gallery which is perhaps the first of its kind in the country would engage people of the capital in the development process of Amaravati. The gallery would come up in an area of 4.5 acres at a cost of Rs 13.69 crore. The AP government conceived the project after studying city galleries in cities such as Singapore, Astana, Berlin and Chicago.

The gallery would provide interfaces through physical models, virtual reality experience and exhibitions for people to participate in the growth of Amaravati. Besides this it will also show images depicting the past, present and future of Amaravati.

The temporary structure will be built on existing infrastructure near the Amaravati foundation stone area and a semi- permanent structure would also come up to house the capital city model. The proposed number of visitors per day is 300 to 500 and may cross over 4,000 after its completion. Various concepts and designs for the city gallery were discussed by the officials and the Chief Minister has asked them to come up with more innovative designs in the next meeting.

Later the Chief Minister reviewed the proposals for the development of Rajiv Gandhi River Front Park and integrated transportation plan.

At the beginning of the meeting CRDA officials played a walk through video on the streets of LPS layouts. In a few days from now the department proposes to develop a virtual experience of the walk through video and show it to all the stakeholders involved.

Sharing his comments on the video, the Chief Minister said that a more number of trees, walking and cycle paths and green ways should be developed keeping in view the climatic conditions of the State.

The Chief Minister suggested that Amaravati should have a wide range of public transport facilities. He said that main centers in the city should be connected through metro buses and other centers through electrical buses. Small distance travel should be through waterways he added.

The Chief Minister suggested that a beautiful replica of the historic Tirumala Temple be constructed on a hill available in the capital region.

Yerpedu fallout: CM makes Collectors, SPs responsible for accidents

0

Vijayawada: The shocking accident of Yerpedu in Chittoor district on April 22, in which 15 persons died and several others injured had given an opportunity to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to fix responsibilities on the officers. The Yerpedu incident exposes the failures of the police and revenue officials and that had made Chandrababu Naidu to hold respective district Collectors and SPs responsible henceforth for such accidents. The ill-fated truck driver was found in a drunken state and Chief Minister wondered how the officials have allowed him to drive the vehicle. He blamed the officials of the Chittoor administration for not conducting regular checks on the vehicles and traffic management.

The Chief Minister directed the district Collectors and the SPs to hold frequent reviews on the road safety in their respective districts and also have checks on road for drunken drive and other violations. The vehicles are to be checked thoroughly for permits, licences, fitness and the status of the drivers to prevent accidents, the Chief Minister said. He also directed the officials of the revenue, police and transport departments to have coordination in preventing accidents on the roads.

While reiterating his government’s commitment to provide sand free for the people, the Chief Minister wanted the district administrations to keep a regular and thorough check on the sand mining and transportation. In the light of allegations against the illegal sand quarrying and smuggling, the Chief Minister issued strict warnings to the officials to prevent such illegal activity. He said he had already suspended the membership of the two leaders from the TDP for their alleged involvement in the illegal sand mining in Chittoor district and said that he would not hesitate to take action against anyone.

Akhila Priya defers naming of Nandyal by-election candidate

It was almost confirmed that the Telugu Desham Party will be nominating a candidate from Bhuma family for the Nandyal assembly by-elections. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu seems to be considering Bhuma Bhramananda Reddy as the possible candidate. Last week, Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya said that on 24th April which is the third death anniversary of her mother Shoba Nagireddy, the name of the candidate will be announced.

However as per the latest reports, the TDP leadership asked Akhila Priya not to announce the name and confine the Allagadda meeting to the death anniversary. Subsequently, the Minister heeded to the request and said that after discussing with the CM the name of the candidate will be revealed.

Bhramananda Reddy is the nephew of Nagi Reddy. His father Shekar Reddy was ex-MLA. Bhramananda Reddy has been vigorously participating in political affairs for some time now and actively supported the late Bhuma couple. Also, he is the son-in-law of YCP leader Katasani RamiReddy, which might work in his favour.

On other hand, Silpa Mohan Reddy who wants to save his candidature literally protested to contest from Nandayal. Even though MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy was assured council chairman post, Mohan Reddy seems to be reluctant to withdraw his plans. Speculations are rife that Mohan Reddy might defect to YCP. However, Chakrapani Reddy supposedly held discussions with CM and also said that that the ticket would be issued based on wining chances after conducting a grass-root level survey. Chakrapani Reddy asserted that they wouldn’t leave the party. It is exciting to watch the next steps of Mohan Reddy, especially if he will choose to stay without candidature or will go against his family.

Battle lines drawn in AP as parties gear up for early polls

Vijayawada: It looks like the political parties in Andhra Pradesh have drawn battle lines anticipating early polls as sounded by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday with his party leaders. In no time, Chandrababu Naidu had appointed all his ministers as incharges for all the 25 Lok Sabha Constituencies in the State. Besides trying to make his Telugu Desam Party stronger through these appointments, Chandrababu Naidu is also targeting at the Opposition. It was seen in the government sending the police to the Opposition YSR Congress party office and serving a notice to its IT wing to appear for enquiry on their social media posts against the government. This had further ignited the war between the ruling party and the Opposition with Y S Jaganmohan Reddy giving an open call to all the Telugu people across the globe to expose the TDP’s rule.

In the two-edged strategy that Chandrababu Naidu had adopted, he had first handpicked his Cabinet Ministers to be incharges for the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. Except Union Ministers Y S Chowdary, who was made incharge of the Kurnool Lok Sabha constituency and P Ashok Gajapathi Raju for Anakapalli, the Chief Minister had nominated the rest of his Cabinet Ministers for each of the constituencies. His son Lokesh is made incharge of the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.

Chandrababu Naidu had set the target of the Lok Sabha Constituency incharge Ministers to coordinate the MP and MLAs in their respective area and keep the rank and file intact. The incharge Ministers would now have their word carried, keeping the respective MP aside. While it is to be seen if this incharge structure would help the party to keep the folks together or lead to dissidence and divide, Chandrababu Naidu believes that incharges have to hold responsibility in leading the party to the next elections.

The second edge strategy of weakening the Opposition seems to have failed as the police who went aggressive in arresting a social media activist had to retreat and free the ‘accused’. Jaganmohan Reddy’s aggressive call to his supporters is all set to see a tough battle fought in the social media ahead of the elections.

Pawan Kalyan welcomes Babu’s plans for early polls

Vijayawada: In a swift move, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had welcomed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s indications on early elections. Reacting to the reports of Chandrababu Naidu’s hint to his party leaders to get ready for the early elections, the Jana Sena chief said his party is ready for the battle even if it is advanced further.

Pawan Kalyan who had begun recruitment of candidates for the party important posts said he would gear up his party for the elections. Pawan Kalyan had already announced that he is out of the NDA, but did not clear whether he would align with the TDP or the Left parties. Though he is soft towards the TDP, he is practically aligning with the Left parties, particularly with the CPI. He is firm on the issues like Special Category Status to the State. He went to the extent of openly criticising the BJP leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for going back on the promise of Special Category Status to the State.

The Jana Sena chief, though did not contest the 2014 elections, had shared the dais with Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu starting from Tirupati where the leaders promised Special Category Status to the State. As chief of Jana Sena, he had promised to the people that he would stand guarantee to the assurances given by the BJP and TDP. Now, with the BJP going back on the promise of Special Category Status and TDP compromising for the special package, it is to be seen whether the Jana Sena chief would align with these parties or stay away from them.

Is Babu under increased threat from Maoists?

Vijayawada: The revelation of AP DGP N Sambasiva Rao that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, among others, was under threat from the Maoists, is sending shock waves among the TDP ranks, besides generating debate among the people. The DGP had admitted that the Chief Minister and several politicians and police officers were facing threat to their lives from the Maoists. He made this admission during a brief interaction with the media persons in Visakhapatnam on Friday. He said that the encounter killing of 31 Maoists in the boarder recently had intensified the seriousness of the threat from the Maoists.

Chandrababu Naidu was under threat during his earlier stint. It was this threat that had resulted in a landmine attack on him at Alipiri near Tirupathi in 2003. He survived the attack with minor bleeding injuries. His car in the convoy was damaged badly as the vehicle was bulletproof. The government had then increased his security. Though he had lost power in the two subsequent elections, 2004 and 2009, the security cover continued for him as Leader of Opposition. Now, after his return to the power, the security cover is further increased.

Last week, the State police have added another 50 personnel to provide him security cover particularly during his travel from his Undavalli house to the interim secretariat at Velagapudi. The police have changed his route on the flood bank (karakatta) to the Undavalli Caves, Penumaka to reach the secretariat. Earlier, he was passing through the flood bank from his house to Velagapudi passing through the narrow roads all the way, including the roads in Venkatapalem. The narrow flood bank, located along the Krishna river, was found more dangerous in terms of security for the Chief Minister following which they have changed the travel direction.
The Chief Minister lives right on the banks of river Krishna and a small portion of his house is in the river water. He travels on a single road surrounded by agriculture fields, including banana gardens and a number of culverts. The house too is surrounded by the thick banana fields posing a real security threat to him and one wonders how the police are allowing the Chief Minister to reside and travel under such hazardous conditions.

Will Amaravati, Polavaram favour TDP as Babu plans for early polls?

0

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu bugled the early polls bell during his meeting with the party senior leaders in the coordination committee meeting. Though the government has the time till May 2019, Chandrababu Naidu had given indications of going for polls a few months ahead, which means in the December 2018-January 2019 season, which is favourable for campaign as educational institutions will remain closed for Christmas-Pongal holidays.

Naidu preferring early polls is not new as he did so in 2004 with an eye on the sympathy that he had received after the Alipiri blast targeting him in October 2003. Though this did not work for him in retaining power, Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have decided on early polls this time again, mostly banking on the two pet projects – Polavaram and Amaravati. Chandrababu Naidu is said to have come to a conclusion that these two projects on which he had been working hard for the past three years, would fetch him more votes and help him retain the power. Moreover, he believes in a sentiment that the TDP had won the 1994 elections and it repeated the victory in 1999. This would repeat for the party as it had won the 2014 elections and is sure of victory in January 2019. Keeping this sentiment aside, it is believed that Chandrababu Naidu is believing strongly that his development plank and the unfinished works would come in his favour and help him retain the power. In fact, it was on his experience and ability that have helped him win the 2014 elections as the State needed a leader like him after bifurcation. He believes that people in the State still have the confidence in him to develop the residuary State and continue the plans of building the capital and completing the Polavaram project. It is a fact that the two projects are seen as lifeline for the State and people have high hopes on the government.

Though the two projects are part of the Reorganisation Act and the Central government is funding them, Chandrababu Naidu is focusing more on these two on a day-to-day basis. The works on Polavaram are progressing at a greater speed and people have confidence that the project would change the fate of the State. It is for this reason, he is monitoring the project works on every Monday and making virtual and personal inspections frequently. The second project of building capital city too is a greater issue for the State. The cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai or even Mumbai are not being considered given the extensive campaign and projection that Chandrababu Naidu had been giving for Amaravati. Having lost Hyderabad in the bifurcation, people of Andhra Pradesh are looking for a greater city than Hyderabad and believe that only Chandrababu Naidu can build it. Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu is now busy finalizing the designs for the new capital and the works are set to begin by end of 2017 so as to be projected in the next election as an ‘unfinished task’ that needs continuation.

Interestingly there are critics for Chandrababu Naidu’s claims on these two projects. While the credit for Polavaram Project is given to late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy for his initiative, the land pooling taken up for Amaravati brought some negative campaign for Chandrababu Naidu, as fertile agriculture lands are destroyed.
It is to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu would cash in on these two projects in the next elections to retain the power.

AP clears to major industrial parks

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government had cleared two major industrial parks that are scheduled to come up by 2018 in the State. A meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has granted approval for setting up of two mega projects in the State.

Tremag Alloys Private Limited and Tata Chemicals Limited have been granted approval for setting up of units to manufacture Magnesium Ingots and prebiotics.

Tremag Alloys Private Limited had come forward to set up a Magnesium Ingots Manufacturing Plant in 100 acres Kadapa Industrial Park. It would invest Rs.660 crore and provide direct employment to 1200 persons and indirect employment to 6000 persons. The first phase of the two-phased project would start in November 2018, while the final phase is to be ready by May 2019. The second project that was cleared by the SIPB is that of Tata Chemicals Limited which would establish a Prebiotics Manufacturing Plant to manufacture FOS (Fructo-oligosaccharides) and GOS (Galacto-oligosccharides) powders.

The plant will come up in APIIC Industrial Park of Tada mandal in Nellore district in an area of 39.81 acres with a total investment of 400 crore. The project is aimed at providing direct employment to 150 people and indirect employment to 80 members. The plant will have to be completed in two phases and start production in December 2018.

Is Naidu favouring early elections to Assembly?

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had sounded about the State going for elections ahead of the schedule 2019. Though the State is scheduled to go for next elections in early 2019, Chandrababu Naidu wants to advance the elections by a few months. This would mean that the State would go for elections between October and December 2018.

Sources in the ruling TDP said that Chandrababu Naidu had asked the party leaders to be prepared for early elections. He met the party leaders at the party coordination committee meeting held on Friday. Chandrababu Naidu wanted the leaders to keep the cadre ready for the elections anytime after August 2018. This would mean that the government has 16 months on hand to seek fresh mandate.

The TDP chief is planning to go for elections by projecting Polavaram Project works and that of the Amnaravati city. While men and machines are at work in Polavaram for visibility, the government is now getting into the ground works in Amaravati. As there are no chances of having another major construction in the capital city in the next one year, the Chief Minster is in favour of grounding the road works at the earliest. The seed access road work is in progress between Venkatapalem and Thullur. This six-lane road would be connected with seven internal roads in the first phase of the Amaravati project. The Chief Minister wants the officials to begin the works on these seven internal roads and give a clear shape by August 2018.

Chandrababu Naidu is also learned to have revealed the results of a secret survey that he had conducted in the recent past. He had reportedly told the party senior leaders that the voting percentage had increased for the TDP by 16.13, while the Opposition YSR Congress had suffered a huge loss of 13.45. The Congress vote remained below 1 per cent, he said and also projected some positive turn to the ruling TDP from the Muslim voters.

Silpa Mohan Reddy is firm on contesting Nandyal seat

0

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam leader and former MLA Silpa Mohan Reddy affirmed that he would contest the Nandyal Assembly seat in its by-elections. He told media persons that he would contest the seat to protect and save his supporters in the district.

Mohan Reddy and his brother Chakrapani Reddy met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli on Wednesday night. The brothers waited for several hours to meet the Chief Minister at Velagapudi secretariat in vain. The two leaders met several ministers too as they were kept waiting from morning and made their claims clear to the TDP leadership.

Even after meeting Chandrababu Naidu, the Silpa brothers said that they were not ready to give up their claim for the Nandyal Assembly seat. “We are contesting the by-election. There is no second thought on it, come what may. We hope the Chief Minister would take a decision in our favour,” said the brothers during their brief interaction with the media while coming out of the meeting with Chandrababu Naidu.

The Silpa family had already made its stand clear to the TDP leadership about its stakes on the Nandyal seat. They went one step ahead and declared that “contesting the by-election is certain and there is no change. The only issue to be cleared is whether we would be contesting on the TDP ticket or YSR Congress ticket or as Independent.”

Though there are no positive signals from the YSR Congress leadership to this statement of the Silpa brothers, it is said that they have already sent feelers to Jaganmohan Reddy. The YSR Congress, which is also equally firm on contesting the seat, is waiting for the TDP squabbles to settle down.

The Silpa brothers are going tough particularly in the light of Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya setting the date, April 24, to announce the name of their candidate for the by-election. Surprisingly, while it is the party president Chandrababu Naidu who is expected to announce the name of the candidate for the election, the two groups are declaring their names giving no room for Chandrababu Naidu, making the battle tougher and interesting too.

TV9 Ravi Prakash meeting CBN is fake news by Sakshi

0

To be persuasive, a media house must be believable. To be believable, it must be credible and to be credible it must be truthful. But the actions of Sakshi seem otherwise. Recently a it reported that TV9 CEO Ravi Prakash met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Sakshi reported this incident as a banner headline in first page where it wrote that the duo met at Park Hyatt and held discussions for an hour.

It’s bizarre to assume that any personality who visits that hotel is bound to meet the CM. “I happened to go to Park Hyatt for lunch that day and apparently AP CM was also there. It’s been a year since I met Chandrababu.” told Ravi Prakash to Telugu360. Based on this report, several other stories emerged about the agenda of the meeting. It is ridiculous to connect dots without fact checking. It is unfortunate that media house that is run by senior journalists such as Ramachandra Murthy believes in their own lies and the story they make up in their heads. It’s high time for Sakshi to realize that credibility comes from acting in others interests before your own.

PS: Yesterday, one of the ‘great’ gossip website a sister of Sakshi added their own flavor about this meeting, which never happened. Incidentally, the article was deleted in few hours. In fact, this has been modus operandi by a particular group of media. First it comes in Sakshi, then in few YouTube handles started with sole intent to propagate gossip and then finally it lands on Sakshi’s sister gossip website.

Devineni era ends in Vijayawada, a remarkable leader in AP politics

Vijayawada: The sudden death of former minister and senior Telugu Desam leader Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru during early hours on Monday had cast a shadow on the State politics, particularly the politics of Vijayawada. A man who had his say in the Vijayawada politics in 1980s was a friend of a few and foe of many. Started his public life as an associate of faction Vangaveeti Radha, both of them as loyalists of the then Communist leader Chalasani Venkata Rathnam, Nehru was active in organising the cycle rickshaw and taxi drivers in the 1980s. Later, he separated from Vangaveeti family and that separation had turned the city into a battle field for one full decade. He lost his two brothers, Gandhi and Murali, in the faction fight with the Vangaveeti family, which also lost its key players, Radha an Ranga in the same period.

Nehru, after separation from Vangaveeti brothers, established United Students Organisation (USO) in Vijayawada and thus made inroads into the colleges in the city capturing the youth. The USO, in just less than one year time, became a big competitor to the Vangaveeti’s United Independents (UI) students wing, in whose formation Nehru and his brothers played crucial role. The city had witnessed the daylight terrifying murders starting from the killing of Vangaveeti Radha, the elder brother of Vangaveeti Ranga, in 1974. The feud took its ugliest turn when the Vangaveeti’s group retaliated Devineni brothers killing Devineni Gandhi in 1979 in a filmy chase. The Devineni family also lost Murali in March 1988 and that followed the death of Vangaveeti Ranga in December 1988.

Nehru swung into active politics in 1982 with the launch of Telugu Desam Party by N T Rama Rao and became MLA in 1983. He was a five-time MLA from Kankipadu Assembly constituency and was a Cabinet Minister for a brief period during N T Rama Rao’s term from 1994 to 1995. He sailed with N T Rama Rao in the 1995 August silent coupe led by N Chandrababu Naidu and stayed with NTR till the later died. He was part of the NTR Telugu Desam Party launched by NTR’s widow Lakshmi Parvathi and had contested to Lok Sabha from Vijayawada in 1996 elections. After his defeat in the elections, he joined the Congress and subsequently became very close to late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Though he had won in the 2004 elections, he could not make it to the Congress cabinet headed by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. However, he lost in 2009 and again in 2014. He had been a staunch critic of Chandrababu Naidu for all these years. However, the return of Chandrababu Naidu to power in the state in 2014 elections had changed the equations. Besides, the crushing defeat of the Congress had also prompted him to return to the TDP along with his son, Devineni Avinash and other supporters.

Nehru is an accused in the cases of Vangaveeti Ranga, Muthyala Sobhanadri, in which he was later acquitted. A man who commanded the district politics once and has a greater following across the State lost his life without achieving his dream of winning the elections once again and seeing his son Avinash becoming MLA.

TDP MP revolts against Chandrababu Naidu

TDP MP from Chittoor, N. Shivaprasad, has raised the banner of revolt against the party leadership and said he could contest as the candidate of many other parties in the next elections.

Considered close to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Shivaprasad targeted him for ignoring the interests of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

A day after the Member of Parliament’s outburst, Naidu reacted sharply. The TDP chief held a teleconference with the ministers and party leaders.

According to TDP sources, Naidu said the MP was interested in a piece of land and when the same was not given to him, he started making baseless allegations.

Naidu made it clear that he will not tolerate anybody pursuing a personal agenda.

Shivaprasad denied the allegations levelled against him. The Lok Sabha member said personal allegations were being made against him, instead of doing justice to SCs and STs.

He expressed displeasure over the attitude of Naidu towards him and said the TDP chief was not even giving him an appointment.

Shivaprasad, who also acted in a few Telugu films and is known for his antics to highlight various issues, hails from Naidu’s native district Chittoor. Kuppam, the assembly constituency represented by Naidu, is also part of Chittoor Lok Sabha constituency.

The MP had said on Friday that Naidu has not accommodated SCs in his cabinet as per the population ratio.

He pointed out that the SC and ST population in Andhra Pradesh is around 25 per cent, and they should get five berths in the cabinet but they were given only two berths.

“Perhaps the CM does not want the SCs to occupy esteemed positions,” he remarked.

Chandrababu’s Cabinet reshuffle commences

0

TDP is all set to replace the present Congress Leader A Chakrapani as the Chairman of the Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh. If the buzz is to be believed, Payyavula Keshav, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu and Nitesh Reddy are in the race of chairman position. Nitesh being a newbie might face hostility, but SomiReddy and Payyavula are expecting a ministerial berth. Apparently Payyavula refused to accept the chairman post. The equations are bound to change once the name is established.

Nara Lokesh and Akhila Priya will be indisputably inducted into the cabinet. It is inevitable for Chandrababu to remove some ministers. Either Palle Ragunathareddy or Bojjala Gopala Krishna will be sidelined. Due to the controversies surrounding the alleged harassment of ZP Chairperson Jani Moon and his son’s involvement in a sexual harassment case, Madiga leader Kishore Babu Ravela is likely to lose his post first. Ravel will be replaced by Dokka Manikya Varaparasad who already has a position. Dokka’s associates say that this position might be reallocated to someone else and that the MLC would be given a ministerial post.

YCP defectors like Adinarayana Reddy and Sujana Ranga Rao may find place in Chandrababu’s cabinet but there is an apprehension that the governor might raise objection to the inclusion of the defected legislators. The chances are feeble for the YCP turncoats. However, the argument put forth by defectors is that the governor doesn’t have authority and moreover he did not have objection inducting defectors in Telangana.

Chief Minister is likely to expand his cabinet in the first week of April. Though the maximum size of the cabinet is allowed to be 26, since June 8, 2014 the TDP cabinet size remained 20. As the government is about to complete three years, political equations will change once the Cabinet expansion is completed.
