Telugu CMs urge Centre to declare Floods as National Disaster

0

The governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are dealing with the aftermath of severe floods and heavy rain. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts in Telangana for Tuesday. A temporary respite on Monday allowed both state governments to focus on relief operations.

Telangana’s Chief Minister visited flood-affected areas and announced plans to establish a State Disaster Response Force to handle such emergencies in the future. He also held a meeting with officials and allocated ₹5 crore to each flood-affected district. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister visited the affected areas in Vijayawada at midnight and provided food to the victims.

Heavy rainfall over the past four days has resulted in a severe shortage of drinking water for the local residents. Flood victims are seen lining up to receive food and water from municipal officials providing supplies through tankers in Vijayawada’s Chitti Nagar area. National Disaster Response Force teams and local authorities have begun distributing food packages, water bottles, and other essential items to people in the flood-affected regions of Vijayawada. Several helicopters and drones have been deployed to aid in the distribution of food, including biscuits, fruits, milk, and medicines.

Ministers, IAS officers, and IPS officers are actively participating in relief efforts across different wards of the central commercial city, where numerous neighborhoods have been submerged. The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to visit flood-affected areas in Mahabubabad district today, continuing his tour of the rain-impacted locations.

Opinion: Why CBN is a notch higher than others during crisis ?

0

Telugu Desam Party national president and current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, entered the 30th year after he first took oath of the same post of the united state in 1995 on September 1st. But, there is hardly any celebration for this achievement because he is busy awake all night from the last two days, staying on ground, monitoring the damage done by floods, assuring the people of affected areas of all possible help from his government.

This extra and timely effort is what makes Chandrababu Naidu a man of the crisis and puts him in a different league from his rivals like Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR who never came out on such dire emergency situations when they were in power.

Naidu’s detractors might call this as publicity stunt and contend that he could do all this from his office instead of claiming attention of the media. But, he has always preferred to lead the official machinary from the front and keep them motivated with his efforts. Lending moral support to the victims during disasters is viral and who else can do this than the head of the state. Moreover, when the CM himself is on ground, no official will have a chance to evade his responsibilities. This will make a huge difference.

At the age of 74, Chandrababu Naidu showed no signs of fatigue despite taking any rest from the last 24 hours as he himself took part in the rescue operations and travelled the areas swamped with rainwater through a boat to take stock of the situation and to review the relief measures. He marshalled the disaster management teams quite effectively and ensured that all his MLAs and Ministers are also doing the same in their constituencies as many parts of the state witnessed record rainfall in the last couple of days.

The way CBN is handling the flood crisis is likened to that of his inspiring efforts during the severe cyclone Hudhud that left in its wake a trail of destruction. So, the public opinion is that no one other than Naidu can handle such unforeseen calamities with his able adminstration and ample experience.

Heavy Rains in AP: CM Chandrababu reviews relief and rescue measures

0

In view of heavy rains, Government announced holiday on Monday for all educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh. CM Chandrababu Naidu took the decision to give holiday to all schools and colleges, after reviewing the heavy rains scenario on Sunday.

As it is considered as dangerous to travel in these conditions, students and parents have heaved a sigh of relief with the decision of AP Govt to keep schools and colleges closed.

The heavy rains have been so devastating that in many areas, roads have been completely flooded, obstructing traffic. Even highways have been submerged due to heavy rains. Especially Vijayawada, Guntur, Eluru and surrounding areas have been severely affected with these rains.

“It is surprising to note that Vijayawada and Guntur region recieved 37 cms rainfall, which is quite unexpected. Prakasam barrage is receiving about 8.8 lakh cusecs of inflows. As a result Vijayawada and surrounding areas are witnessing severe flooding. It is unfortunate that about 9 people have died due to rain related flooding and landslides. In spite of record rainfall and unfavorable conditions, Govt is making all efforts to save people in low lying areas and prevent untoward incidents,” said CM Chandrababu Naidu speaking after the review.

In view of heavy rains, AP Government has set up 107 relief camps all over the state. About 17,000 people have been moved to camps and safe places. Government is also distributing 50 kgs rice and groceries to the people in rain affected areas.

Perni Nani labels Naidu a “Master of Betrayal”

0

Terming Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu as master of betrayal, Former minister Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani) said that Naidu’s attempts at buying and selling political leaders are pitiable.

Speaking to the media at the party central office on Thursday, Perni Nani stated that CM Naidu, fearing Jagan’s political rise, has been trying to remove him from the political scene since 2011. Despite these efforts, YS Jagan returned stronger, winning 67 seats in the past, he said. He also reminded Naidu’s previous attempts to weaken YS Jagan politically by allowing 23 YSRCP MLAs to defect into TDP, yet failing to make a significant impact. He slammed Naidu for swearing in four of these defectors as ministers in the presence of the Governor without making them resign from the YSRCP party.

He said Naidu is master of betrayal and deceiving those who trust him is second nature to him. Nani questioned why Naidu, who insisted on resignations from defectors joining TDP, did not enforce the same when 23 YSRCP members joined TDP between 2014 and 2019. He further questioned why the recent defections of mayors and corporators in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada were not followed by their resignations. He also criticized Naidu for focusing solely on political maneuvers rather than fulfilling the promises made to the people and warned him that the public would teach Naidu a lesson by 2029.

Nani challenged Naidu to field candidates from the same communities for the upcoming Rajya Sabha seats that are expected to be vacated, as proof of consistency. He slammed Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh government, and yellow media for orchestrating a drama with a woman with multiple allegations to target IPS officers. He clarified that Vidyasagar, who ran for the 2014 Assembly elections but never joined YSRCP, is being falsely linked to the party in this conspiracy. The woman has cases in several North Indian states, which will eventually surface, he said

Speaking at a separate press conference in Nellore Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy criticized the TDP, stating that the party has a history of luring and buying MLAs and MPs. He stated that Chandrababu Naidu is diverting attention from his failure to fulfill election promises through political defections. Reddy also said that TDP leaders are looting sand under the guise of a free sand policy, leading to a significant rise in sand prices, and warned of public protests if the situation isn’t addressed.

Jagan demands Naidu to secure medical college approvals

0

YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to secure approvals for the newly proposed five medical colleges to commence classes this academic year and also to release the remaining funds for the timely completion of ongoing medical college projects.

Taking to the social media platform X, Jagan urged Naidu to leverage his influence with the central government to ensure that the required permissions are granted without further delay. He criticized Naidu’s government for neglecting the state’s public health sector, stating that Naidu is deliberately ignoring crucial medical infrastructure development. He stated that the failure to prioritize the commencement of the five new medical colleges, which were scheduled to begin classes this year, is evidence of the Naidu government’s inefficiency.

Jagan Mohan Reddy outlined key healthcare reforms introduced under his administration, including the establishment of village and ward clinics, the family doctor initiative, enhanced services through 108 and 104 ambulances, and the expansion of the Aarogyasri scheme to cover 3,257 treatments. He also highlighted the Aarogya Asara initiative, which provides financial aid during recovery. In addition, Rs. 16,880 crores have been invested in hospital infrastructure under the “Nadu-Nedu” program, and Rs. 8,480 crores allocated for constructing 17 medical colleges, one for each parliamentary constituency.

He noted that during the 2023-24 academic year, five medical colleges in Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Machilipatnam, and Nandyal successfully began classes, adding 750 MBBS seats and benefiting students from underprivileged backgrounds. He further stated that classes for five additional colleges in Paderu, Markapuram, Madanapalle, Pulivendula, and Adoni were scheduled to begin in the 2024-25 academic year.

He remarked that even though Naidu was in an alliance with the BJP, which was running the central government, he was unable to secure the required approvals and it has led to the loss of an additional 750 seats. He also highlighted how Naidu had ignored the promise made during the elections to fill all medical seats in new colleges under the convener quota.

He also criticized Naidu’s preference for privatization, accusing him of transforming the public healthcare sector into a system that prioritizes private interests over the welfare of the common people. He warned that such policies would result in unaffordable healthcare services for the general public.

MLA Tangirala Soumya Files Complaint Against False Social Media Campaigns

0

In an era where social media is rife with false campaigns and misleading posts, distinguishing truth from fiction has become increasingly challenging. This situation has led to a recent uproar involving opposition YSRCP members and NTR District Nandigama MLA Tangirala Soumya.

Approximately 21 months ago, fake Facebook accounts began circulating false and insulting video clips targeting MLA Soumya, causing her significant mental distress. Despite filing a police complaint at the time, the perpetrators remained unidentified.

The situation escalated on January 12 this year during the inauguration of the Jagananna Walkway Road in Chandamamapet, Nandigama. At the public meeting, a large digital screen displayed the same defamatory Facebook video clips of Tangirala Soumya, accompanied by insulting remarks from speakers at the event.

In the past week, YSRCP leader Karimullah and his son Sahil allegedly shared these offensive clips via WhatsApp. When confronted by the MLA’s brother, Tangirala Shravan, on March 18, they reportedly responded with caste-based insults and threats against both Shravan and the MLA.

Upon learning of these developments, MLA Tangirala Soumya filed a police complaint through her brother on Wednesday, seeking action against those spreading false information about her. CI YVVL Naidu confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under SC/ST Act Section 3 and other relevant sections. The police called in both suspects for questioning.

This incident highlights the growing concern over the misuse of social media platforms for political mudslinging and character assassination. It underscores the need for more robust mechanisms to combat the spread of misinformation and protect individuals from cyber harassment.

YS Jagan criticises Naidu for unethical governance

0

YSRCP President and Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with YSR Congress Party’s legal cell representatives and strongly condemned the unethical governance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Speaking on the occasion at the party central office here on Thursday, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, attributing the ongoing attacks to the encouragement of the Chief Minister Chandra babu Naidu. He further stated that deliberate efforts are being made to create fear and confusion among the public. He reminded that when YSRCP was in power, they never encouraged such events and reminded that the primary focus of their governance was fairness and integrity, with no place for corruption or bias.

He mentioned the disturbing trend of declining law and order in the state referring to how those in power are using “red books” to create chaos and target specific individuals, with a focus on destruction and framing false cases. This practice is now trickling down to all levels, with individuals at constituency, mandal, and village levels opening their own “red books” to carry out such destructive activities, he said.

He stated that Former Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy was being targeted by the government with false cases, using unrelated incidents such as fire accidents in offices. He mentioned that in today’s era of digitalisation, it made no sense to accuse someone of burning papers, as all data is stored electronically in servers and hard drives. He highlighted that this was part of a broader strategy by those in power to deflect blame onto others, using false charges as a means to target opponents.

He also raised concerns about the ongoing lawlessness, where attacks on political workers are seemingly encouraged, with authorities providing protection to the wrongdoers. He mentioned instances where opposition members faced violence, while the government turned a blind eye and media outlets carried out misleading stories to deceive the public. He mentioned the importance of the legal community’s proactive involvement. He urged lawyers to take the initiative in bringing these issues to the attention of the courts, as without such efforts, justice would not be served.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set forth a comprehensive plan to revolutionize public transportation in the state, focusing on free bus travel for women and the implementation of electric buses. During a recent review meeting with the RTC and Transport Departments, Naidu outlined several ambitious initiatives aimed at improving service, safety, and sustainability.

At the forefront of these plans is a proposal for free bus travel for women. Naidu has directed officials to conduct an in-depth study of similar schemes in states like Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. A dedicated team will visit these states to analyze their best practices and compile a detailed report. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of thorough planning, stating that a well-crafted policy, even if it takes more time to develop, is crucial for success.

Alongside this, Naidu is pushing for a significant shift towards electric buses. He has instructed officials to perform a comparative analysis of diesel and electric buses, considering factors such as purchase costs, maintenance expenses, and fuel efficiency. The state plans to leverage central government subsidies to acquire 1,253 electric buses, marking a major step towards sustainable public transport. Recognizing the challenges of this transition, Naidu has called for innovative solutions to address charging infrastructure needs, particularly for long-distance routes.

The Chief Minister also addressed the pressing issue of the aging bus fleet, acknowledging that many buses currently in service have traveled over 15 lakh kilometers. He criticized the previous administration for neglecting fleet renewal and reducing rural bus services. To rectify this, Naidu has called for an increase in rural bus services and a thorough evaluation of bus ownership versus rental models.

Safety is another key focus of the new initiatives. Naidu has mandated regular meetings between Superintendents of Police, District Collectors, and Road Safety Officers to enhance accident prevention measures. He’s called for the identification and mitigation of accident-prone ‘black spots’ and the removal of vehicles over 15 years old from service. Additionally, the establishment of automated testing stations in every district will help ensure vehicle safety standards are met.

The Chief Minister has also pushed for administrative improvements, including streamlining the process of issuing driving licenses and RC cards. In a bid to boost RTC’s financial health, he suggested exploring additional income sources through cargo services.

Naidu’s comprehensive approach aims to address the multifaceted challenges facing public transportation in the state. By focusing on women’s welfare, environmental sustainability, safety, and operational efficiency, these initiatives represent a significant step towards modernizing and improving the state’s transport infrastructure.
