Telugu star Venkatesh Daggubati’s crime thriller ‘Drushyam’ has got a sequel with ‘Drushyam 2’. The movie revolves around a crime and to what extent a man named Ram Babu goes to protect his family.

Director Jeethu Joseph now opens up about his journey with thrillers.

As the movie is out on Prime Video, ‘Drushyam 2’ has grabbed the attention of all. With nail-biting suspense sequences and emotions in every frame, the movie is being lauded. Elated with the kind of response, director Jeethu Joseph expressed his happiness.

Joseph, further explains that he has struck a balance in creating nail-biting suspense thrillers and out-and-out comedy, despite being tagged with only the thriller genre.

On being quizzed about his relationship with thrillers, Jeetu shares, “I have done comedy films, I have done family dramas, but people tag me as a thriller director. It just clicked that way. I must admit that I have an inclination towards the thriller genre. But as a filmmaker, I want to do all kinds of films.”

“Maybe because I have done 2 thrillers back-to-back, people started expecting only thrillers from me. I have noticed that even the producers expect end-of-the-seat thrillers from me,” Joseph explained.

‘Drushyam 2’ stars Venkatesh, Meena, Tanikella Bharani, Nadhiya, Naresh, Sampath Raj, Kruthika, Jayakumar, and Esther Anil.

Venkatesh’s Drushyam 2 Review: Faithful and Gripping

Victory Venkatesh signed the remake of Drushyam 2 which had a direct digital release. The Telugu version too skipped the theatrical release and it is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Jeethu Joseph who directed the original directed the sequel too. Venkatesh, Meena played the lead roles and D. Suresh Babu, Antony Perumbavoor, Rajkumar Sethupathi are the producers. Story:

Drushyam 2 is the story of Rambabu (Venkatesh) who hails from Rajavaram. It has been six years since a covered crime was committed. After an incredible set of events, the cops suspect Rambabu and his family. He is traced and Rambabu boosts up his family and keeps them confident. Rambabu turns a film producer and the rest of Drushyam 2 is all about the hurdles and challenges. Watch Drushyam 2 to know about the rest.

Performances:

Venkatesh thrills the audience as Rambabu and it is a tailor-made role for him. The actor shines throughout in each and every frame. Venkatesh carried the film on his shoulders. Meena has a decent role and the actress did her part well. Kruthika and Esther Anil have been good in their roles and they did their parts well. Sampath Raj and Nadiya have been powerful with their performances. Naresh and Vinay Varma shines in their attempts. All the other actors have been good.

Drushyam 2 starts off on a dull note and the first half of the film should have been better. The screenplay is decent and the thrills are executed well. The dialogues are good and courtroom episodes are shot well. The cinematography work is excellent and the music should has been better. The editing work is ok and the production values are grand. Jeethu Joseph plays safe and makes Drushyam 2 a faithful remake.

Verdict:

Drushyam 2 is a faithful remake and it makes a decent watch. The second half is gripping and interesting.

Venkatesh outlines his ‘Ram Babu’ character in ‘Drushyam 2’

Venkatesh Daggubati, who appeared in the Telugu remake of ‘Asuran’, is now set to appear in Jeethu Joseph’s directorial ‘Drushyam 2’. The actor has spoken about his character in the movie which is a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Drishyam 2’.

Being a sequel to crime thriller ‘Drushyam’, Venkatesh reprises his role in ‘Drushyam 2’.

The movie is slated for OTT release on November 25 on Prime Video.

Venkatesh, who spoke to IANS about his role and experience working for ‘Drushyam 2’, explains what it takes to play a character like ‘Ram Babu’.

On being quizzed about his role in ‘Drushyam 2’, Venkatesh replied that he has owned the role ‘Ram Babu’ quite well. “Though Ram Babu is just a middle-class man with much attachment to his family, his role has multiple layers. The multilayered roles unleash a different Ram Babu each time, with reference to the situation,” Venkatesh explains.

The ‘F2’ actor also hints at the different shades of Ram Babu, saying “Ram Babu looks pathetic when he appears helpless in some situations. But, in reality, he is a fierce protector of his family, which makes him mentally stronger than ever”.

“‘Drushyam 2’ is not just about how a man protects his family from unexpected situations, but also the emotions are interwoven. When I talk about emotions, it is not just the hero’s or his family’s emotions. The movie will talk about the villain’s parents who cannot figure out how they lost their son, where his mortal remains are, and many other aspects,” Venkatesh said.

Venkatesh revealed that he has always been positive about OTT releases. “We are still experimenting. We still have not figured out what is right and what is wrong. I did the movie and left it to the decision of the makers, who are deeply involved in the trade. I will do my acting and let the makers apply their experience in such things,” said the actor.

Sai Tej skipped the promotions as the actor met with an accident. Puri Jagannadh relaunched his son Akash Puri with Romantic and the film will stream on Aha from November 26th. Puri penned the script and Anil Paduri directed the film. Naveen Chandra and Avika Gor starrer BRO too will head for a direct digital streaming on November 26th on Sony Liv. This weekend, Tollywood audience will have a treat as there are four releases.

Venky about his first-ever web series

Victory Venkatesh is currently promoting his upcoming release Drushyam 2 which will stream directly on Amazon Prime from November 25th. During his recent promotional interaction, the actor responded about his first-ever web series titled Rana Naidu. Venkatesh and his nephew Rana Daggubati will be seen in the lead roles in Rana Naidu which is the adaption of Ray Donavan and is produced by Netflix. Venky revealed that he and Rana commenced the shoot for the web series. Rana Naidu streams on Netflix next year.

Venky surprised everyone with a grey hair in the first look poster of Rana Naidu. Venky took a break from the shoot of F3 to promote Drushyam 2 and he will complete the shoot of F3 at the earliest. The film is announced for February 2022 release. Rana is done with the shoot of Virata Parvam and he is in talks for a couple of bilinguals apart from web-based projects.

Tollywood is back into financial stress because of the second wave of coronavirus. With the virus severe, there is a panic situation among the people and it is clear that most of them would return back to theatres before taking up the vaccine for coronavirus. Trade analysts feel that there would be no releases this year though the shoots would commence at a later date.
