Andhra minister terms Vizag steel plant privatisation a big scam

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Industries and Information Technology, Gudivada Amarnath, on Monday hit back at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his allegation that the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government in the state is involved in rampant corruption.

Condemning the allegations levelled by Shah at a public meeting in Visakhapatnam, Amarnath said those who want to sell Visakhapatnam Steel plant have no right to speak about corruption.

Terming privatisation of steel plant a big scam, Amarnath said it is ridiculous that those who are taking steps to sell the plant are talking about corruption.

He said when Amit Shah came to Visakhapatnam, people had a hope that he would make an announcement to halt the privatisation of the steel plant.

The minister said that Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda read the script given by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

He dared both TDP and BJP to join hands for the electoral battle and made it clear that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) will fight it alone.

He also clarified that YSRCP never had any alliance with any party. Amarnath said that YSRCP has no need to touch the feet of any political party.

“Our relations with the BJP are government to government relations. The respect you get will depend on the respect you give. We give respect for the sake of the state’s interests,” Amarnath said.

He also told Shah and Nadda that they will not grow in stature by criticising Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He further advised the BJP leaders to open their eyes and see the development that is happening in the state.

“Does the state have no share in the funds which come from the Centre,” he asked while reacting to Shah’s statement about the Centre giving funds to the state.

He also claimed that the Centre’s share is only Rs 200 in the monthly pension of Rs 2,750 being paid to 65 lakh beneficiaries under various social security schemes.

The state minister also told Shah that the IIT and IIM were the state’s rights under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

“What more have you given to Andhra Pradesh,” he asked.

Amarnath also reminded the Union minister that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy gave Rs 2.16 lakh crore to people through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Visakha to be executive capital in two months, says AP minister

1

Andhra Pradesh minister for IT, Gudivada Amarnadh, said that Visakhapatnam would be the executive capital of the state in the next two months. The minister said that no force would be able to stop Visakhapatnam becoming the executive capital, as declared by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Minister told the media that all those who oppose Visakhapatnam as the executive capital should quit the Uttarandhra region. He took strong exception to the TDP leaders from the region opposing the executive capital status for Visakhapatnam.

The Minister said that the government is committed to make Visakhapatnam as the executive capital. He said that the secretariat from Velagapudi would move to Visaka after the Assembly session with officials working from this port city.

The State government is said to be planning to hold the budget session of the Assembly in February this year. The budget session is likely to continue to the middle of March, where chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to make an announcement on the floor of the House about the executive capital.

It is also widely said that Jagan Mohan Reddy would first move his camp office from Tadepalli to Visakhapatnam after Ugadi, followed by some departments and parts of the secretariat from Velagapudi.

It is to be seen how the government would handle the issue as several cases are pending before the high court and the Supreme Court.

Three capitals is YSRCP’s 2024 poll slogan, says Amarnath

0

The ruling YSR Congress would go to the 2024 elections with three capitals’ slogan, said Minister for Industries, Gudivada Amarnath. The Minister said that they would seek peoples’ mandate once again in 2024 on a decentralisation plan.

The Minister held a review meeting with the officials on proposed investors’ meet to be held in Visakhapatnam. The Minister said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had asked his department to make arrangements for the investors’ meet in Visakhapatnam. The venue and the date would be finalised shortly, he said.

The Minister said that the YSR Congress is committed to the overall development of the state. He further said that the YSR Congress endorses the recommendations of the Siva Ramakrishnan committee report, which suggested decentralisation.

He said that the Siva Ramakrishnan committee, which went into the issue of recommending the capital for the residuary state, had favoured decentralisation. He also said that the committee felt that the mistake committed in Hyderabad should not be repeated.

The committee suggested distribution of the government offices to every district and advocated against the location of all offices in one place, the minister said.

He accused the farmers of Amaravati for taking out padayatra. He said that the farmers were campaigning for the TDP for the 2024 elections. The farmers were speaking against the YSR Congress and promoting TDP rather than Amaravati, he added.

He questioned the Amravati formers for not speaking about the benefits of Amaravati as capital rather than stressing the importance of bringing the TDP back to power.

The Minister said that the people of Uttarandhra would not allow the Amaravati farmers to play politics in the name of capital. He made an appeal to the people of Uttarandhra and the two Godavari districts to join the proposed Garjana rally in Visakhapatnam on October 15 in support of the decentralisation.

We are only adding Vizag and Kurnool to Amaravati as capital, says Minister

1

Minister for Industries, Commerce and IT, Gudivada Amarnath, said that they were not changing the rules of the AP Capital Region Development Authority 2014. He said the present government was only adding two more places as capital.

He said that the previous TDP government had decided on Amaravati as the capital, while the present government was adding Kurnool and Visakhapatnam also as capitals. “We are not saying that Amaravati is not the capital. It will continue to be the legislative capital,” the minister said.

The Minister further said that the people of Amaravati were insisting upon Amaravati to be the only capital and they don’t want other places to share the capital city benefits. He said that the government is committed to develop three capitals for the state doing justice to the three regions. He further added that the government would introduce the decentralisation bills once again either in the present session or the sessions to be held later.

The Minister recalled the statement of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Assembly about the capitals and decentralisation of administration. He said that Visakhapatnam would require about Rs 10,000 crore to make it a competitive city in five years on par with Hyderabad or Chennai or Bengaluru in the neighbourhood.

On the other hand, if Amaravati has to be developed it would require Rs 10 lakh crore and would take a couple of decades to become a city and another couple of decades to compete with the capital cities of the neighbouring states.

He emphasised the need to have a better and competitive city for the state now to attract investments now than wait for decades spending on Amaravati. He said that the state government is committed to developing the state and would go for the three capitals at any cost.

Gudivada Amarnath discounts Lokesh claims on investments

1

Minister for Industries, Gudivada Amarnath, on Wednesday took strong exception to TDP leader and former IT minister, Nara Lokesh’s claims on investments to the state during the TDP regime. He said that Lokesh was speaking lies as his father Chandrababu Naidu.

The Minister said that the people of the state were aware of the sort of people invited and the drama enacted at the three investment summits held in Visakhapatnam during the TDP regime. He said that fake people, fake companies and fake MoUs were signed during those three summits.

Amarnath said that with the media support, the TDP had made tall claims about the three investment summits, besides the visits to Davos and US by Chandrababu Naidu and his team. He also cited how a section of the media promoted even Nara Lokesh about inviting investments to the state from various countries during the TDP regime.

The Minister said that Japan’s Yokohama had come to the state in 2020 October with an offer to establish a tyres company at Visakhapatnam. The state government had given permission to the firm in 2020 December and the company and the first phase of the company was inaugurated in 15 months.

The Minister advised Lokesh to stop spreading false information as if people don’t know the facts. He said that people of the state have clear information about the investment summits conducted by the TDP government at Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and the sort of MoUs that the government had signed those days.

“You can’t bluff people all the time,” the Minister said ridiculing Lokesh’s statements on industries and investments to the state during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure.

AP Minister slams Chandrababu Naidu

1

AP’s IT and Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath has slammed Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu over misleading propaganda on rescue operations made by the government during the recent floods to Godavari river.

The minister said that Chandrababu Naidu had done nothing for the Hud-Hud victims, when he was the chief minister, except hyped publicity and empty promises. He flayed him for releasing only a GO, instead of helping the people. He reminded that Naidu had never provided any sort of immediate relief during such calamities. He further added that the latter had distributed stale lemon rice (pulihora) and 10kg rice to the victims.

He dared Chandrababu Naidu to answer about the collected funds during the cyclone, whether it reached the government treasury or NTR Trust. Amarnath said that the opposition leader has been busy criticizing the government instead of helping the people out there. He asserted that the YSRC government had put its best foot forward to reach out to the victims.

The Minister slammed the opposition for misleading the people by fabricating the facts on State borrowings, and clarified that the current government had only borrowed Rs 1.15 lakh crore, which is much less than during TDP rule. He said that Naidu has been falsely alleging that the government had borrowed over Rs 8 lakh crore, while in reality as per CAG report, the debt is only of Rs 1.15 lakh.

He stated that over Rs 1.65 lakh crore was spent in the last three years towards public welfare. He said that YSRCP rule is of DBT governance, which implements every scheme in a transparent manner, while the TDP government had only focussed on DPT (Dochukovadam, Panchukovadam, Thinadam).
