Telangana Congress MP responds to showcause notice

0

Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has submitted his reply to the showcause notice issued by the party for indiscipline.

The Bhongir MP submitted his reply to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on November 1, denying the allegations made against him.

Congress general secretary Tariq Anwar had issued notice to the Lok Sabha member on October 22 asking him to reply within 10 days.

The notice was issued after a voice recording went viral on social media in which Venkat Reddy is heard asking a Congress leader to support BJP candidate and his brother Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy in Munugode by-election.

Venkat Reddy is understood to have told the party leadership in his reply that it was a “fake” audio.

The MP reportedly wrote that he is a senior leader in the party who has been serving the organisation for the last 35 years. He complained that he was not given due importance in the party.

A video clip had also gone viral a few days ago in which Venkat Reddy is heard predicting that Congress will lose the by-election to Munugode Assembly seat.

Venkat Reddy, who is the star campaigner of the Congress party, did not campaign for the party in Munugode, where polling was held on Thursday.

Venkat Reddy’s brother Rajagopal Reddy had resigned as MLA and also quit Congress to join the BJP. He contested as BJP candidate.

There have been speculations in recent weeks that Venkat Reddy will also follow his brother and switch loyalties to the BJP.

The audio and video of the MP have surfaced days after he made it clear that he will not campaign in Munugode.

His action had embarrassed the party when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was passing through Telangana.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh had told reporters in Hyderabad on November 1 that if any party member crosses ‘Lakshman Rekha’, the party will definitely take action.

Congress issues show cause notice to Telangana MP

The Congress on Sunday issued show cause notice to its Telangana MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for his recent utterances.

Congress General Secretary Tariq Anwar issued the notice to the MP from Bhongir a day after video clip went viral in which he is heard predicting that the Congress will lose the by-election to the Munugode Assembly seat.

Venkat Reddy, who is the star campaigner of the Congress, went on to predict that his brother and BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy will win the November 3 bypoll.

The party leadership has asked the MP why no action should be taken against him under the party constitution for indiscipline. He has been asked to submit a reply within 10 days.

His statements caused huge embarrassment to the Congress a day before the entry of party leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in the state.

Hours after the Yatra entered Telangana and Rahul Gandhi left for New Delhi for three-day break, the central leadership issued the notice.

A video of Venkat Reddy’s interaction with some people went viral on social media on Saturday even as the party leaders were engaged in hectic campaigning in Munugode.

Earlier, an audio clip of Venkat Reddy went viral in which he is heard urging local Congress leaders to support his brother.

Venkat Reddy’s brother Rajagopal Reddy had resigned as MLA and also quit the Congress to join the BJP, which fielded him as its candidate in the by-election.

There have been speculations in recent weeks that Venkat Reddy will also follow his brother and switch loyalties to the BJP.

The audio and video of the MP have surfaced days after he made it clear that he will not campaign in Munugode where Congress has fielded Palvai Sravanthi as its candidate.

T’gana Cong MP predicts party’s defeat in bypoll

0

In a huge embarrassment to the Congress party in Telangana a day before the entry of party leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in the state, party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy predicted that Congress will lose the by-election to Munugode Assembly seat.

Venkat Reddy, who is the star campaigner of the Congress party, went on to predict that his brother and BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy will win the November 3 by-poll.

A video of the Bhongir MP’s interaction with some people went viral on social media on Saturday even as the party leaders were engaged in hectic campaigning in Munugode and were preparing to welcome Rahul Gandhi, whose Yatra is set to enter the state.

The video surfaced hours after an audio clip of Venkat Reddy went viral in which he is heard urging local Congress leaders to support his brother.

In the video clip, Venkat Reddy defended his decision not to campaign for Congress party candidate in the by-election.

“Why should I campaign for the party in an election which it is going to lose,” he is heard asking. He predicted that Rajagopal Reddy will win the by-poll.

Venkat Reddy also made some comments which indicate that he is not bothered about what action the party leadership takes against him for his open defiance. “I have been in position for 25 years. I won elections five times. This is enough for me,” he said.

Rajagopal Reddy had resigned as MLA and also quit Congress to join the BJP. The saffron party has fielded him as its candidate in the by-election.

There have been speculations in recent weeks that Venkat Reddy will also follow his brother and switch loyalties to BJP.

The audio and video of the MP have surfaced days after he made it clear that he will not campaign in Munugode where Congress has fielded Palvai Sravanthi as its candidate.

“There is no need for a ‘home guard’ like me there. Only ‘SP level’ leaders will go there,” the MP quipped when asked if he would campaign for the Congress party in the by-election.

“A leader said that he will bring the party to power even if 100 cases are booked against him. He will go there. I am an ordinary worker of the Congress party,” he said.

Venkat Reddy did not name the leader but he was apparently referring to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy.

After Rajagopal Reddy’s resignation, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy had lashed out at him and also made certain remarks against his brother Venkat Reddy. Revanth Reddy’s supporter Addanki Dayakar had made a bitter attack on the MP and made ‘home guard’ and ‘bartender’ jibes.

Last year, Venkat Reddy had criticized the party’s central leadership over the appointment of Revanth Reddy as TPCC chief. Venkat Reddy, who was also one of the aspirants for the post, made serious allegations against some central leaders of the party and had vowed not to step into state party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan.

The Bhongir MP, however, had later started participating in party activities and was seen with Revanth Reddy on a few occasions. In April, the party’s central leadership appointed him the star campaigner.

Meanwhile, Congress MP and former MP Uttam Kumar Reddy refused to comment on Venkat Reddy’s defiance. He said the party’s central leadership will deal with the issue.

Congress MP won’t campaign against brother contesting as BJP candidate

0

Congress MP and the party’s star campaigner Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday made it clear that he will not campaign in the Munugode Assembly constituency where his brother Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is contesting the by-election as a BJP candidate.

Venkat Reddy made the remarks while addressing reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, the state headquarters of Congress party, after casting his vote in the AICC presidential election.

“There is no need for a home guard like me there. Only SP level leaders will go there,” the MP quipped when asked if he would campaign for the Congress party in the by-election.

The by-election in Munugode, Nalgonda district, is scheduled to be held on November 3. The vacancy arose after Rajagopal Reddy resigned as MLA and also quit Congress party to join the BJP.

There have been speculations for the last several weeks that like his brother, Venkat Reddy would also switch loyalties to the BJP.

A member of Lok Sabha from Bhongir constituency, Venkat Reddy is likely to leave for a foreign tour to skip the by-election. He evaded reply when asked as to when he would be leaving.A

Though Venkat Reddy was named as star campaigner by the party’s leadership in April, he has been keeping himself away from party activities in Munugode. He skipped Congress meetings, rallies and roadshows in the constituency.

After Rajagopal Reddy’s resignation, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy had lashed out at him and also made certain remarks against his brother Venkat Reddy. Revanth Reddy’s supporter Addanki Dayakar had made a bitter attack on the MP and made ahome guard’ and abartender’ jibes.

Revanth Reddy had later apologised to Venkat Reddy and asked the party disciplinary committee to take necessary actions against Dayakar for his comments.

Venkat Reddy had criticized the party’s central leadership over the appointment of Revanth Reddy as TPCC chief in June last year.

Finally, Revanth and Komatireddy come together, share dais

0

Tuesday witnessed a rare constellation of the Congress leaders. Two warring leaders – TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and his biggest challenger and MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy met for the first time after the former became the TPCC chief. Komatireddy, who refused to meet Revanth all these days, welcomed him at his residence.

This is the first time both the leaders met each other and posed for photograph. This has warmed the hearts of many Congress leaders. Revanth Reddy has staunchly opposed the appointment of Revanth Reddy and even went to the extent of the Telangana Congress affairs incharge of taking bribes from Revanth Reddy. He did not attend the swearing in ceremony of Revanth Reddy at the Gandhi Bhavan.

The coming together of these two leaders is definitely a good news for the Congress Party. Later, both the leaders were present at the ‘Congress for Farmers’ rally organised by the Congress at the Indira Bhavan. They shared the stage and praised each other. This has enthused the party cadres and workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy lauded Komatireddy as a true Telanganite and added that he had resigned for the cause of Telangana. His’ was a real resignation unlike the fake resignations of the KCR family, Revanth said.

KCR-Komatireddy bonhomie shocks Congress!

0

Congress senior leader and Bhongir Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and TRS president, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao displayed unusual bonhomie on Friday.

Both were seen hugging each other, talking and laughing, the visuals of which went viral on social media platforms.

These pictures surprised and shocked not just Congress leaders and cadre but also TRS and all other political parties. This is because Komatireddy is the vocal critic of KCR and his family members.

KCR was in Jangaon on Friday to inaugurate Integrated Collectorate Compex and also TRS district office.

Surprisingly, Komatireddy turned up at CM’s event at the inauguration of Collectorate Complex.

This triggered speculations that Komatireddy is making moves to quit Congress and join TRS. Komatireddy is unhappy at Congress national leadership for making Revanth Reddy as TPCC chief who is much junior to him both in Congress and also in politics. Komatireddy tried his best to secure TPCC chief post for the past three years but Revanth bagged the post unexpectedly.

But Komatireddy’s supporters dismissed rumours of Komatireddy joining TRS. They said Komatireddy attended CM’s meeting in Jangaon Collector office as Jangaon falls under Bhongir Lok Sabha seat, which Komatireddy represents. They say Komatireddy attended this as per protocol and there are no politics involved in this.

But this failed to douse the fire as TRS never invited Komatireddy to any CM’s meetings held in Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency earlier.

Komatireddy enjoys in Dubai as Cong struggles in Huzurabad!

0

Senior Congress leader and Bhongir Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has been staying away from Congress activities in Telangana ever since the party high command appointed A.Revanth Reddy as TPCC president in June this year.

Komatireddy is not coming to Gandhi Bhavan to take part in party meetings or attend any public meetings being held by Revanth Reddy against TRS government.

The Congress is struggling to retain even deposit in the Huzurabad bypoll let alone winning the seat.

At this stage, the party seniors are expected to work united and put up best efforts to see that the party saves its face at least by retaining deposit or get some reasonable chunk of votes.

In 2018 Assembly polls, Congress candidate Kaushik Reddy secured 60,000 votes. This time, it is expected that Congress will not secure even 6,000 votes out of 2.40 lakh votes in Huzurabad.

Revanth Reddy and other senior Congress leaders are struggling in Huzurabad to save the face of Congress by taking up hectic campaigning.

But Komatireddy left not only Huzurabad but also the state and the country. He flew down to Dubai to watch T20 world cup match between India and Pakistan on Sunday (today).

No one knows when Komatireddy returns from Dubai. The last date for campaigning in Huzurabad is November 27 and going by indications Komatireddy will arrive in Telangana only after November 27 to avoid campaigning.

Komatireddy is among the 20-star campaigners listed by Congress for Huzurabad bypoll. But the star campaigner is enjoying in Dubai watching cricket matches.

Komatireddy finally falls in line, to maintain silence!

1

Senior Congress leader and Bhongir Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who created a furore by levelling sensational allegations against party high command of selling TPCC chief post to A Revanth Reddy like ‘cash for vote’ case, has announced to maintain silence on politics henceforth.

Komatireddy issued a statement that he will not speak on politics anymore and requested journalists not to contact him for his reactions on politics. He said he will only confine to developing his Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency and Undivided Nalgonda district.

Why Komatireddy has decided to keep silent on politics all of a sudden has now become a subject of heated debate in political circles.

It is believed that Congress high command took a serious view of Komatireddy’s comments and reprimanded him. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi reportedly conveyed to Telangana Congress leaders to make clear to Komatireddy that if he wants to continue in Congress he has to follow the directions of Congress high command and if not he can quit from the party anytime and Congress has nothing to lose if he quits.

This made Komatireddy shocked and decided to keep mum for the time being. Lack of political opportunities in Telangana are also said to be the reasons. Komatireddy can’t join TRS due to stiff resistance from Nalgonda TRS leaders like Jagadish Reddy, Gutha Sukender Reddy, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy etc.

He can’t join BJP because he still feels BJP has no scope to come to power in Telangana and only Congress can defeat TRS in future.

In this backdrop, Komatireddy decided to remain calm hoping that the party high command will some day accommodate him at national level posts in AICC or CWC to reward him for his over three decades of loyalty to Congress.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to be next TPCC chief?

0

Senior Congress leader and Bhongir Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is all set to be appointed as the next president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

The present TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy will be replaced by Komatireddy.

The Congress lost its ground in Telangana under Uttam’s leadership with successive defeats in the hands of TRS from 2014 Assembly polls.

Not only electoral defeats, the Congress also suffered huge setbacks under Uttam leadership with Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs joining TRS.

Congress situation has become so pathetic under Uttam leadership that it has lost even main opposition status in both Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly.

The Congress high command now wants to revive the fortunes of the party in Telangana and gear up the party for securing power in 2023 Assembly polls.

Despite granting Telangana statehood and fulfilling the six-decade long aspirations of Telangana people, the Congress failed to grab power as it lacked able leadership to fight against KCR and TRS.

The high command is currently appointing new PCC presidents in various states.

It recently appointed new PCC presidents for Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and it’s the turn of Telangana PCC now.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday asked Komatireddy to come to her residence. She is reportedly discussing on appointment of new TPCC chief.

Komatireddy is a vocal critic of KCR and his family members and is also financially very sound to take on TRS. He is also taking up agitation programmes against TRS government frequently in Telangana.

The Congress high command reportedly feels that Komatireddy has the ability to revive the fortunes of Congress in Telangana.

An official announcement on Komatireddy’s appointment is likely to be made in a day or two.

Komatireddy to replace Uttam Kumar Reddy as TPCC President?

1

The Congress High Command has taken a crucial decision with respect to the party in Telangana. According to credible sources to the national party, the high command under the president-ship of Rahul Gandhi has decided to replace the current TPCC President. Uttam Kumar Reddy who is the TPCC President will soon be replaced by Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who is often dubbed as the firebrand of Telangana Congress.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who is one among the Komatireddy brothers is currently representing the Nalgonda Constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly as MLA. He is also the Deputy Floor Leader of the Telangana Congress Legislative Party.

The decisions come after the Congress High Command observed that Uttam Kumar Reddy lacks the x-factor to corner KCR. ‘Though Uttam Kumar Reddy is a good leader, he lacks the charisma to move large crowds. When KCR and KTR fire their missiles against him, he fails to repel them back efficiently.

Many Congress leaders in the party’s internal meeting expressed that the recent ‘Party Tours’ did not live up to the mark. The way Uttam Kumar Reddy handled the incidents post the dismissal of Komatireddy and Sampath Kumar form the TS Assembly failed to appease major party factions’, said a political analyst close to the Congress party.

Hyderabad HC revokes disqualification of two Congress MLAs

0

In a setback to the Telangana government, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday revoked the disqualification of two legislators of opposition Congress from the state Assembly.

Justice B. Siva Sankara Rao set aside the expulsion of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar and directed that their membership be restored.

The court observed that if they have done anything wrong, the government may take disciplinary action but removing them from the House was not proper.

The two legislators were disqualified from the Telangana Assembly last month after they tried to disrupt the Governor’s address on the first day of the Budget Session on March 12.

Amid the ruckus, the Congress members allegedly threw headphones, injuring Council Chairman K. Swami Goud in his eye. The legislators denied the allegations.

The next day, the Assembly passed a resolution expelling the two Congress members.

The Congress legislators had challenged their disqualification and also a gazette notification issued by the Legislature Secretary notifying vacancy for Nalgonda and Alampur (SC) Assembly constituencies, which they were representing.

Earlier, in its interim order, the court had directed the Election Commission not to issue poll schedule for by-elections in their constituencies for six months.

The Congress leaders, in their petition, argued that that they were not given any notice or opportunity to explain the alleged obstruction or interruption or undignified behaviour at the time of Governor’s address, but they were singled out as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had a personal vendetta against them.

Reacting to the court verdict, Venkat Reddy said justice has prevailed and the Chief Minister “fell in his own trap”. The former minister said despite all its conspiracies, the TRS could not harm him.

State Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said the court judgment was a “slap on the face of the TRS government”, adding at least now the government should mend its ways and function in a democratic fashion.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath suspended for life in TS Assembly

As expected, the Telangana State Assembly took strict disciplinary action against the Congress MLAs. 11 Congress MLAs have been handed over suspension (until the TS Budget Sessions are concluded), while Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath are expelled from the Telangana State Assembly for lifetime. TRS MLA Harish Rao put in the proposal for the suspension and expulsion of the aforementioned Congress MLA, and the Speaker has given his consent.

The 11 suspended congress MLAs are; Jana Reddy, Jeevan Reddy, Geetha Reddy, Chinna Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, DK Aruna, Padmavathi, Ram Mohan Reddy, Vamsi Chand Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, and Madhav Reddy.
Speaking on the disciplinary action by the TS Assembly, Telangana BJP President, MLA Kishan Reddy said, ‘I support the disciplinary actions on Congress MLAs. But Jana Reddy doesn’t deserve such kind of treatment. Senior leader Jana Reddy should be once again invited into the Assembly.’

‘In case of the Parliament, we only hardly 10 to 12 MPs, out of 540+ members. To make sure that the speaker notices us, we need to go near the Speaker’s podium and protest. But, such kind of acts will not be tolerated in the State Assembly.

Once a resolution is passed in the Assembly, we will not be withdrawing it’, said KCR in retaliation to Kishan Reddy’s comments.

KTR is a broker! KCR involved in Fake Currency racket – Komatireddy

6

Congress MLA (Nalgonda) and Deputy Floor Leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy made shocking comments on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao. Speaking at a press meet, Komatireddy alleged that CM KCR has been involved in Fake Currency racket and Fake passports.
‘KCR, KTR and Kavitha together had pocketed Rs 10,000 crores after TRS has come to power. KCR has a criminal track record. Face currency racket case has been registered against him in Kachiguda Police Station. He was also involved in a fake passport case.

Similarly, his son KTR is nothing but a broker. The fibre cable project which merely costs Rs 500 crores, has been transferred to KTR’s brother-in-law, who took up the project for Rs 5,000 crores.
We have crucial evidence about the politicians and big shots involved in the Miyapur – Jeedimetla land scam. In the upcoming Assembly sessions, we will surely expose them with valid proofs.

KCR used to sell black-tickets in the past. That is his history. Once Congress comes to power, KCR and KTR will face investigation. They will be sent behind bars’, said Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
