Nani is One of the Best Actors of This Gen: KTR

0

Being a ‘movie buff’, Telangana IT Minister KTR makes sure to watch films on regular basis, and also doesn’t hesitate to appreciate the films and actors on social media. After watching a couple of movies starring Nani, KTR is in complete awe of him.

The IT minister took to Twitter to praise Nani calling him one of the best actors of this generation. “One of the best actors of this generation has to be @NameisNani

Enjoyed watching a couple of his movies this weekend. Brilliant performer,” wrote KTR on Twitter.

Bowled over by the compliment, Nani thanked KTR on Twitter and said that his compliment meant a lot to him.

Meanwhile, Nani’s ‘Ninnu Kori’ is steadily performing at box office after taking a solid opening. With consistent box office glory and naturally striking performances, Nani is justifying the tag given to him, ‘Natural Star’.

Telangana Opposition MLAs expend allocated funds tangibly compared to TRS

Telangana Opposition party leaders are spending more funds in their constituencies when compared to the ruling party leaders. The report prepared by the state government, highlighted that only 15 out of 119 MLAs have spent more than 75% of the funds allocated to them and 4 MLAs have spent below 25%. While 37 MLAs expended between 25-50% funds, 65 MLAs spent about 50-75% of the money allocated to them under Constituency Development program (CDP).

As per the report in Deccan Chronicle, Minister of IT K T Rama Rao spent less than 25% funds while the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself disbursed less than 50%. Congress leader K Jana Reddy, TDP leader Revanth Reddy, BJP leader Kishan Reddy and MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi expended 75% of the funds allocated to them in their constituencies.

Minister of Forest, Jogu Ramanna is the only cabinet minister to pass 75% of funds to his contituency. Minister of Tourism A Chandulal, Minister of Health Dr C Laxma Reddy, Endowments minister A Indrakaran Reddy consumed less than 50% of funds. Speaker and Deputy speaker spent 50% and 75% funds respectively.

Apart from KTR, three MLAs who spent less than 25% include Warangal East, West MLAs Konda Surekha, Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar and Nizamabad Urban MLA B Ganesh.

It may be noted that each MLA was allotted Rs 1.50 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 3 crore in 2016-17 under the CDP. In the mid of June 2017, about Rs 75 lakh were released for each MLA/MLC constituency as part of the first instalment for the year 2017-18.

Telangana BJP president Dr K Laxman, Congress MLAs D K Aruna and J Geeta Reddy spent more than 75% funds. 64 MLAs including Minister of Irrigation Harish Rao, along with ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Etala Rajendar, P Mahendar Reddy, Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, K. Padma Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, G. Jagadish Reddy disbursed somewhere between 50-75% of allocated reserves in their constituencies.

As per the report, Chief Minister KCR is allegedly planning to reframe the guidelines for CDP along the lines of MP fund and is also said to be contemplating on the method of reimbursement.

KTR strikes back at Economic Times

Telangana Minister of Industries K T Rama Rao came down heavily on India’s Leading Business Newspaper Economic Times for deliberately slandering the image of state. It may be recalled that ET in its report on June 26, 2017 stated that, investors including Google, Microsoft were impacted by the Miyapur Land Scam which did not go down well with the minister. KTR earlier rubbished the allegations of the reporter, but however reverted with following detailed response-

Deliberate attempt to dent the image of a fledgling State We in India treat our media with so much respect that it is called the Fourth Pillar of our Democracy. It is generally agreed that in modern democratic nations media plays an extremely important role along with the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary. In fact, the press and the media becomes an extremely powerful institution, being the watchdog of a democracy. Newspaper houses in India have been leading from the front in taking on political system when they go corrupt, uncovering and exposing the complicit deals when they happen, and in certain cases have changed the fortunes of elected leaders to keep our democracy vibrant and thriving.

And thankfully, India has ensured that its media is completely free for most part of our post-Independence history. In this regard, the media is generally given far more leeway in how they conduct themselves enjoying the freedom that is not extended to the other three official pillars. And our media houses have used this freedom quite responsibly to play an important role in creating a mature Indian democracy.

With such great power vested in Indian media houses comes a very great responsibility. And yet, some of the media houses have misused this freedom to be reckless in sensationalism causing damage to our society. So, where does the freedom to sensationalize stop, and where does the responsibility and accountability start? Such questions are far more relevant in case of Telangana, because it has been a victim of such uninformed and malicious reporting during the time of Telangana Movement. Some newspapers and TV channels have negatively depicted the Statehood Movement, deriding its leaders and prognosticating a doomsday scenario for the new State.

In spite of heavy lobbying and negative campaign from the media, Telangana State became a reality. After the formation of Telangana in 2014, most newspapers in the country have accepted the existence of a new State, dropped their antipathy, and took on a neutral or passive stand. But few newspapers continued to vilify the new State without even giving it a breathing space. It appears they have taken on the intention to sabotage the efforts put in by the fledgling state. Within 4 weeks after the formation of Telangana, Economic Times (ET) published an unsubstantiated news item that nearly 700 firms from Hyderabad have shifted to Andhra Pradesh (http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/…/articles…/37108136.cms), when in reality no such thing happened. Another uncorroborated article followed within a month that was intended to send an ominous signal to the investors across the globe that things are not right with Telangana. ET has gone on an overdrive to create baseless stories with an active intent to denigrate the State. Over the last 3 years, the Chief of Bureau of ET in Hyderabad has been writing a series of negative stories on Telangana. And whenever a major investor started their operations in Telangana, the Chief of Bureau of ET was conspicuous by his absence at the launch event. There is a clear pattern in these manoeuvres and articles. Looks like ET has continuing its efforts to denigrate Telangana in the eyes of investors.

This is not the first the time the State has faced its detractors. During the Telangana Movement, there were many naysayers. Those who stood against the formation presaged that the State shall plunge itself into darkness. But today Telangana uniquely boasts of uninterrupted power supply to its industry even at the peak of the summer. It was foretold that the industry would flee the new State and that its economy would plummet, but the exact opposite is being witnessed. Telangana is growing faster than the country average in the share of IT industry output, and its per capita income is one of the fastest growing in the country.

Right now, Telangana has 4 out of global top 5 tech companies based out of Hyderabad. It boasts of several marquee names such as Microsoft, Google Apple, Amazon, Uber, Salesforce, Boeing, DBS, ZF etc. In the last 2 years, after passing the historic and unprecedented TS-iPASS, which gives approvals in 15 days as a statute of law, Telangana has given clearance to 3828 companies of which nearly 50% are operational. The new State has created additional 1,09,495 jobs in IT and 2,28,355 jobs in industry, and its GDP is increasing at 10.1%, second highest in the country. Almost every industry leader who has interacted and worked with the State Government has gone on record to compliment the dynamism of the state administration.

It is unfortunate that while the new State is working hard to improve its economy and employment by bringing in new industry, some of the news agencies are publishing paid articles and spreading canards only to malign the State. With the recent article titled ‘Largest realty scam in Telangana worth Rs. 15,000; Google, Microsoft also affected’, Economic Times has reached a new low in sensational journalism. Most of the cases referred to in the article are from the time before the formation of Telangana – some of them are over 10 years old. It is a well-known fact that the new State bequeathed a legacy fraught with complicit deals. One of the “scams” referred to in the article was in fact unearthed in an internal audit by the Telangana Government. And it has already set in motion the corrective measures. The ET article mentions Google and Microsoft only to attract international audience but fails to quote any of the officials from those organization. Clearly, the entire article is fabricated, using some incidents that happened before the formation of Telangana to mischievously tarnish the image of the new State in the eyes of the investors.

Even the real estate firms operating in the State, like JLL and CBRE, have refuted this article and made it clear that this is speculative and incorrect.

There is a consistent pattern to how Economic Times has been portraying Telangana. The intentions are nefarious. This calls for an important debate in this country. Can a newspaper get away with any kind of news reporting? Can it actively engage to sabotage a State and its future? Can it publish paid articles and fake news to malign a State Government and its sincere efforts? A newspaper is supposed to report news as it happens, provide opinion, conduct investigation and report it after authentication, and may also participate in sensationalism to boost its readership. What happens when sensationalism dominates all other spheres, when fiction is passed off as news, when opinion and facts are mixed, and when speculation is represented as investigation? Is ET being a responsible newspaper when it comes to its reporting on Telangana or is it being just selling its space to paid articles?

When a politician is corrupt, we have means available to prosecute him through legal methods, or oust him in elections. But what can a nation do when the watchdog itself becomes corrupt, posing a greater threat to Indian democracy?

Miyapur Land Scam: IT firms impacted, KTR rubbishes allegations

0

“Mother of all Scams” or the Miyapur land scam seems to have impacted tech giants Google and Microsoft. The firms are uncertain of the value of their real estate holdings in Hyderabad. As a part of cracking whip on land sharks after the 15,000 crore rupees scam was unearthed, the state government initiated a judicial enquiry probing the legality of public and private land ownership.

As per the report in Economic times, investors who are hit by messy land titles include Google, Microsoft, Tishman Speyer, Shapoorji Pallonji, DLF, Lanco, Puravankara, Sattva Salarpuria and My Home group.

Goldstone Prasad the primary accused in the scam was attorney of Shapoorji Pallonji group’s Cyrus Investments that bought thousands of acres of properties from the Hyderabad Nizams in 1967. Prasad allegedly facilitated the group to get few ownership clearances. However, just before formation of Telangana in April2014, Cyrus Investments contending deceitful selling of their land assets, invalidated the power of attorney from Prasad.

ET’s report quotes the same minister saying that “Land titles in Hyderabad have been an issue for a long time for a variety of reasons and that the government is bringing in certain reforms in a methodical fashion to spruce up the land records.”

On the contrary, reacting to this report, Minister K T Rama Rao tweeted that “Paid article written with a clear vested interest & malice. Reflective of lowest standards of Journalism. Try as you may, you won’t succeed”.

KTR skeptical about Bayyaram steel plant

0

Telangana Minister of Mining KTR expressed discontent over the delay in the long stand dream of Bayyaram Steel Plant in Mahabubabad district. The minister was displeased with Centre’s comportment on the issue and said that Vishakapatnam where iron-ore is not available could already get a steel plant. TS has been pursuing the issue with the Centre for past two years but with hardly any progress.

Union ministry of Steel in March2017 accorded in-principal approval for the Steel Plant and suggested that the plant be set up in PPP mode as SAIL is in losses. However, KTR said he was oblivious about the steel-plant becoming a reality. Not only the minister but also locals are skeptical about the steel factory. There were reports that it may be shifted to Medak.

Iron ore deposits are amply available but reports suggested the iron found in the place was of poor quality with less than 60 per cent ferrous. However, the minister of mining said the plant can be linked up with nearby Bailadila iron ore mine in southern Chhattisgarh to address the quality issue.

The iron ore deposits were transported to Vishakapatnam before the bifurcation of the state and the transport completely stopped only in 2010. Setting up the factory would change the scenario of Mahbubabad district as it would not only generate employment but also develop to the area which remained backward with mostly tribal population.

As per the 13th Schedule of AP Reorganisation Act 2014, a steel plant has to be established by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to exploit the iron ore mines at Bayyaram and other reserve forest areas in tribal dominating district.

KTR releases annual report of Industries, launches TIHCL

0

Telangana Minister K T Rama Rao along with Jagadish Reddy released the annual report of the Industries and Commerce department for the year 2016-17. The department of industries and commerce on the occasion unveiled a novel initiative – Telangana Industrial Health Clinic Limited (TIHCL) for the revival and growth of sick manufacturing MSMEs. TIHCL is as apparently Non Banking Financial Institution (NBFC) with a corpus of Rs 100 crore.

KTR said that Kakatiya mega textile park will be launched this year. He said three new food parks will come up in the state. The minister of IT said Spices Park will be set up in Balakonda constituency and Dye Port will be constructed in Nalgonda district. He said that Dalit and Tribal entrepreneurs are being encouraged with T-pride.

Terming TS-iPass as “revolutionary policy”, the minister said permissions are given for establishment of industries within 15days. KTR highlighted that, in past two years their government has given permissions to investments worth Rs 73,000 crore through TS-iPASS, of which 50 percent have already commenced operations. Consequently 2.46 lakh jobs were generated directly and around 7 lakh jobs indirectly through these investments. He said that TS-iPASS has completed 2years which was designed after studying the best industrial practices around the world.

The State has achieved a 10.1 per cent year-on-year growth in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in 2016-17 and the share of TS’ economy in national GDP has increased by 7 basis points. The state stands at top in ease of doing business and will be setting new records in industrial growth this year.

Initial Review: T-wallet looks great but pay to use it

0

Telangana government is known to partner with startups for government apps. This time it gave an opportunity to finance startup Transaction Analysts to create its T-wallet app. The app is available for download for Android and iOS platforms. As the app was released on Thursday do not expect it to be free of errors. Specifically, latency issues, frozen screen and messages like “error occurred. Please try again later” or “server Error”. Nonetheless your money is safe. Since the app is new-fangled, hopefully these bugs will be apparently rectified in subsequent updates.

The first thing a user notices when they add money to their T-wallet account, is the payment gateway charges. So, if you add say Rs 100 to your account using net banking, Rs 1.84 will be deducted. This will not be appreciated or for that matter accepted by the users. Especially when private wallets like Paytm are providing services without payment gateway charges and also give away cashbacks and coupon codes.

Minister K T Rama Rao claimed that BHIM is only for personal transactions but using T-wallet app people can make government transactions as well. A major advantage with BHIM is it directly connects to bank accounts and there is no payment gateways and burden of adding money to the wallet. If one has more than two bank accounts the details can be retrieved on the same app.

It is said that the wallet will support the citizens with receipt of government benefits like pension, scholarships, MNREGA wages and others. So most likely the money will be transferred as mcash and then the customer needs to transfer it to their bank account. The IMPS transaction limits are set as per RBI guidelines, so if any incentive is greater than 5000 rupees for a non-KYC customer and 10000 rupees for a KYC customer, there will be service charges.

Currently almost all the banks offer its customers with a facility for standing transactions to pay utility bills like electricity, gas, water and also private bills like DTH, landline, Internet etc. A lot of marketing is needed for this existing user base to switch to T-wallet. One major advantage using this wallet  is that there is no transaction charge for paying electricity bill. One can pay it using the app, or visit the electricity website and select the option t-wallet at payment. For RTA related payments, visit the page as there is no option in the app directly. Surprisingly when you apply for Learner License online with RTA, at the payment page there are two wallets, one Paytm and other T-wallet.

Its integration with government departments such as MeeSeva, GHMC, HMWSSB, RTA will be beneficial. Currently it offers only Electricity, Waterbill and GHMC icons in the government bills section. However, the GHMC assimilation is likely to be released in subsequent updates.

T-wallet is similar to Paytm and an easy UI with government services as a value add. However, Paytm has already penetrated into market. The launch of the app is late particularly when there is tough-competition in the cluttered e-wallet space with players like Paytm, PayUmoney, State Bank Buddy etc. However, the minister said about 1.2 lakh merchants have been enabled and awareness has been created among 7 lakh people as part of the project. The government may want to waive-off payment gateway charges for encouraging general public to use the T-wallet app.

Rahul Gandhi’s Dynasty Politics Salvo Backfires, TRS Attacks Congress

Rahul Gandhi’s salvo targeting Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over dynastic politics has ricocheted back, with TRS leader K T Rama Rao calling it “joke of the millennium”.

“Some so called national leaders of national parties who can’t even win an election in their own backyard, make tall claims elsewhere ????. Indian Notional (sic) Congress leadership talking of family rule has to be the joke of the millennium. Classic comedy ????,” Rao, son of the chief minister, wrote on Twitter.

The Congress vice president was in Sangareddy in Telangana on Thursday where he attacked the chief minister, accusing him of taking care of only his own family.

Without naming Rao’s son K T Rama Rao, a minister in his government, daughter and Lok Sabha member K Kavitha, and nephew Harish Rao, also a minister, Gandhi had asked if students and farmers fought for the creation of Telangana for a “single family”.

“Has the state been created just for four people,” Gandhi said, and alleged that the chief minister was not taking along with him students, youth, women and backward classes.

In New Delhi, apparently apprehensive of the possibility of questions being asked about Gandhi’s remarks against dynastic politics, some Congress leaders at the party’s briefing were overheard talking about the likely posers from the media.

Union Minister Smriti Irani quickly latched on to it and posted on Twitter: “Comedy of errors? Dynasty ke statement par dynasty ke supporter kya bolein iss par gehen calculation” (Serious calculation over how supporters of dynasty should respond to statement on dynasty).”

In a video of the Congress’ press conference put out by Irani, a party leader is heard talking to its spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi about Rahul Gandhi’s comments.

He is also heard on microphone telling Singhvi that nobody from the Gandhi family has been in power since Rajiv Gandhi, apparently a suggestion to counter questions on Gandhi’s dynasty jibe at Rao.

Later, Singhvi mounted a counteroffensive against the BJP, saying the saffron party has been an ally of the Akali Dal and Shiv Sena, which pursue dynastic politics.

“When you talk of errors and a miss, you obviously don’t look at the detail and the BJP will answer this question. All those who ask this question, like BJP and others, like an ostrich in the sand forget to ask the question of Akalis or the Shiv Sena who are their longest allies. Dynasty is forgotten that time,” he said.

Singhvi said in the last 28 years, of which Congress has been in power for 16 years at the Centre, no leader from the Gandhi family has occupied any government office despite winning elections. “So let us put things in perspective. I think this (the question about dynastic politics) has lost its logic,” he said.

“It is an irony that a member of the Gandhi family, which is the biggest example of the dynasty politics in India, is accusing another leader of promoting dynasty,” BJP’s media department head Anil Baluni said.

Telangana achieves IT exports of Rs 85,470 cr

0

Telangana achieved IT/ITES exports of Rs 85,470 crore in 2016-17, clocking a growth rate of 13.85 per cent over the previous fiscal, the government announced on Thursday.

Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao told the media that the growth in IT and IT Enabled Services exports was 4 percent higher than the national average of 10 per cent.

Telangana’s IT sector, 98-99 per cent of which is located in Hyderabad, provided employment to an additional 24,506 professionals, taking the total workforce to 431,891.

The minister released the annual report of IT, Electronics and Communications department on the eve of the third formation day celebrations of Telangana.

Rao said Telangana was on track to achieve IT exports of Rs 120,000 crore and 8 lakh jobs in the sector by 2020.

Stating that the growth in IT exports was higher than the national average for a third consecutive year, he said that in 2013-14 the exports totalled Rs 57,000 crore.

“At that time we had said we are targeting to double the exports and direct employment by 2020. We are on course to achieve this,” he said, adding that indirect employment will jump up to 20 lakh.

The minister claimed that the growth rate in both the exports and direct employment proved wrong all the negative and gloomy stories about the IT industry.

Referring to the layoffs by some IT firms, he reiterated that it was a common practise in the industry that some people are let-off while new people are recruited.

KTR gives a piece of mind to NTV and TV9

A video of a policeman brutally beating a person surfaced on social media. A twitter user requested Minister Municipal Administration & Urban Development Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao to look into the issue. An active user on twitter, the minister asked the Telangana DGP to probe into the issue and also assured stringent action against officials if the alleged video turns out to be factual. However, while the investigation was in progress, Telugu media houses including top channels like TV9 and NTV broadcasted the news belittling the Telangana police.

This of course did not go down well with KTR, as the video being broadcasted was from Rajasthan. He gave a piece of mind to the channels by saying that they are trying to cause irreparable damage to government institutions and requested the media outlets to do fact checking before broadcasting. He not only enlightened them but also asked them to issue a riposte in the next broadcast correcting their mistake. While the rejoinder from the TV channels is awaited, the IT minister advised people not to believe everything seen on social media.

This is just another incident in recent times, where the news channels have been publishing news based on the videos surfaced on social media without fact checking. Surprisingly TV9 which runs “Edi Viral Edi Real” where the fact check videos surfaced on social media got carried away this time.

KTR who is active not only on social media, ardently follows the national and local media. Recently he took a jibe at national media saying that “98% of India is outside of Delhi”. It is high time for the news outlets ensure to scrutinize their broadcast especially the news based on social media.

KTR sold ice-cream for Rs50000, now sell Chilli for Rs10000 – TDP

0

Leader of Telugu Desam Party in Telangana A Revanth Reddy came down heavily on the Telangana government for their unscrupulous attitude towards Chilli farmers. Speaking at the Khammam TDP Rythu Deeksha, he asked, “if KTR sold ice cream for 50000 rupees, why is he not selling quintal Chilli for 10000 rupees?”
The TDP leader questioned, if the government is not able give fair price for 2lakh acres of crop, how will they pay for 1 crore acres. Revanth Reddy further held that the government is giving fair price for cinemas but not for farmers.

TDP organized protest condemning the manner in which farmers were arrested and handcuffed on April 30 when they protested against the falling Mirchi prices. He said farmers tried to protest as the traders were trying to cheat them. Revanth Reddy critiqued Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao’s attitude towards farmers.

The TRS minister reacting to the allegations said that the KCR government is doing more than expected for Agriculture by giving current, developing fields and laying roads. Nageshwar Rao further said that TDP has no moral right to speak about Telangana movement.

KTR sends a strong message to “Think Tidy”

0

Hyderabad is a city where there is outpouring love and compassion. The environment and cleanliness in the city is shaped not only by those in influential positions but by everyone who lives or work in the city of pearls.

Heavy rain with strong winds with speed of around 120 to 150 kmph in a hailstorm created mayhem in the capital city on Tuesday night. Around 300 trees fell to the ground. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) wrestled with the fallen trees to clear the path. GHMC team along with along with members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been working to restore services and bring back normalcy.

One such affected user took to twitter and asked KTR to send GHMC officials to remove the fallen branches of an uprooted tree. KTR said “Don’t get me wrong but why can’t you & your friends try & do some basic cleanup instead of leaving it for @GHMCOnline Afterall it’s our city”. The Minister in just one tweeted conveyed that cleanliness of the city begins by cleaning one’s mind.

Also, this is the best time to plant a tree in Hyderabad as a respect to the fallen 300 trees, especially for the tree near Hasmathpet that fell to the ground after 200-years of existence. In the words of Anchor and actor Pradeep Machiraju “it’s the duty of each one of us to regain the Green! Let’s unite to make this place(Hyderabad) a better one by planting more trees”

70 Pharma units shut in a fortnight

0

In the Indian pharmaceuticals sector, Hyderabad has a strategic place especially with the city contributing 30 per cent of the nation’s bulk drugs and vaccines. The upcoming Pharma city is anticipated to boost the sector itself. Minister KTR said that the cluster will offer industry-best infrastructure and will itself provide environmental clearances to companies.

On the contrary, at present the pharma industry is going through a rough phase with most of its units struggling to survive or locking down. As many as 70 units stopped operating in a fortnight. The reason is attributed to the higher production costs, factory licence rules and the exorbitant restrictions from Pollution Control Board (PCB). The strict PCB rules make it challenging for product changeovers, in a way curbing innovation in the Pharma industry.

With over 340 pharma units as members, Telangana Association for Pharma & Chemical Industries (TAPCI), voiced its concern over the alarming situation in the pharma industry.

Almost 20 per cent of the world’s generic exports are from the Indian pharmaceuticals sector which is thirteenth in value and third largest in terms of volume. The country has around 3,000 pharmaceutical companies. However, Indian active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) manufacturers expressed their apprehensions over the snowballing competition from China. Even Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association (BDMA) are requesting subsidy support and change in approval process for new drugs from the Central government

While the projections indicate that the sector by 2020, will remain sixth in size of business and third position in terms of overall growth, experts claim it will be helplful if drugs and intermediates licence is given, furthermore government ensures low interest on loans and comes up with Industry-friendly rules and regulations in Telangana.

Pawan Kalyan may want to pull off a KTR

Sometimes the best way to get attention is reviewing the work and avoiding senseless arguments. Everyone is aware that Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan raises the issue of North South divide to get National media’s attention. But media is too busy covering AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, thus giving an edge to the regional media.

The national media is possessed over the charges against Kejriwal for taking two crore rupees bribe. Telangana Minister of IT K T Rama Rao shared the same feels and plainly reminded them that there are states outside Delhi. He tweeted “Am I the only one who finds the obsession of ‘National Media’ with AAP/Kejriwal amusing? Guys, 98% of India is outside of Delhi. Just saying” In just few minutes, consulting editor of so-called National Media said “more focus means more accountability”. The Minister accepted the challenge and asked them to focus on Telangana. Kalyan may want to learn from KTR on how to receive courteous attention without asking for it. Jana Sena supremo is unable to realise such response from National Media using his favorite North-South issue. May be someday his case will be considered, only to lose respect.

Kalyan is always noticed by the regional media and consequently, his each and every action is closely monitored. Before getting ambitious in expanding his horizons at national or international level, Kalyan needs to first be responsible to the regional media and people. A star hero singing the same ridiculous song of divisiveness is no longer national news. There are so many issues in the state and Jana Sena keeps holding the dried branch. TTD EO hailing from north would be hardly a matter of concern to Lord Venkateshwara himself. He has too many issues on his plate as the leaders who were supposed to “question” are wasting time by tweeting on absurd issues. Kalyan may want to take up better subjects to get focus or at least scorn the national media, as the north-south thing is no longer happening.

Digvijaya claims Telangana Police trapping Muslim youth, draws flak

0

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday alleged the Telangana Police of setting up a bogus ISIS site to trap Muslim youth. Police termed his claim “unfounded” while the state government asked to show evidence or withdraw the remarks.

The Congress General Secretary, who is in-charge of party affairs in Telangana, made the serious allegations against Telangana police in a series of tweets.

“Telangana Police has set up a bogus ISIS site which is radicalising Muslim Youths and encouraging them to become ISIS Modules.

“The issue is whether Telangana Police should be trapping Muslim Youths in becoming ISIS modules by posting inflammatory information?

“Is It Ethical? Is it Moral? Has KCR authorised Telangana Police to trap Muslim Youths and encourage them to join ISIS? If he has then shouldn’t he own the responsibility and resign? If he hasn’t then shouldn’t he enquire and punish those who are responsible for committing such a heinous crime?” he posted.

Telangana’s Director General of Police Anurag Sharma said the allegations were unfounded and will lower the image of police.

“Unfounded allegations from a senior responsible leader will lower the morale and image of Police engaged in fighting anti-national forces,” Sharma tweeted in reply.

Telangana Minister K. T. Rama Rao, who is also son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, reacted strongly to the allegations.

“Most irresponsible & reprehensible thing coming from a former CM. Request you to withdraw these comments unconditionally or provide evidence,” tweeted Rama Rao.

Rama Rao also told the media in New Delhi that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi should react and condemn the baseless allegations.

He pointed out that Telangana Police had not only lowered the crime rate in the state but had earned praise from the Central government for cooperating with other states in tackling terrorism and extremism.

Unsolicited advice to KTR, Lokesh about ‘Twitter Darbar’

Andhra Pradesh Panchayati raj Minister Nara Lokesh in last three days is taking up grievances related to villages on twitter. On the other hand, KTR has been addressing such issues on twitter for quite some time now. While KTR is picky, Lokesh who is a debutant is on problems resolving spree. While the ministers want to lead, let’s hope, they don’t end up nit-picking.

Lokesh’s twitter feed is an outright evidence that there are several problems to be addressed, a few of which have remained unresolved since ages. The twitter grievance redressal system, practiced by these two privileged ministers, is more like a lottery system where only few twitterati are blessed.

Sometimes tweets are judged by the amount of publicity they can generate for the minister.

There is category of requests wherein the minister in his position can hardly do anything. Like –

Lost passport when a person is abroad. A sensible individual should reach out to the Indian Embassy out there rather than reaching to unrelated ministry of IT or Panchayat. Even if anyone knocks on the ‘Twitter Darbars’, there is hardly anything the prince can do apart from rerouting the request through Ministry of External affairs or embassy.

Another practice is tweeting the newspaper clips about needy citizens and seeking assistance from the “Twitter Darbaars”. Even before the advent of twitter, ministers or officials or at times NRIs have reached out to such people as the whole purpose of publishing it, is to get the attention.

There are many similar requests on twitter which are receiving blessings from the ministers. In such cases, if feasible reduce the red-tapism at those embassies or in departments. On a positive note, these blessings are useful for some, but equality should be given importance over publicity. Will the prince ever be able to reach out to the under privileged who do not have access to him? There are established rules and guidelines in place for certain set of complaints. It is absolutely conclusive that few of the tweeple either have lost trust in the machinery or are unaware of the processes.

Cynical about something, without recommending viable solution, is a bad practice. Here are better plans:

At the government level – Programs like “Mee Kosam” in Anantapur and GHMC portal acknowledge the complaint, give a ticket number and the status can be monitored online or sent as a SMS to the aggrieved. On similar lines setting up a call-center or online portal will be the most viable option. Government can also setup a panel with separate twitter handle in which they can request the users to give their ticket numbers if unresolved for some time (SLA model)

At the leaders’ level – Instead of directly taking up unrelated issues the leaders should drive the tweeple to lodge the complaint or request at above said authoritative systems first. If the prince tweets only he will earn praise, if his entire machinery works, his kingdom will get the due credit.

At the twitterati level – While tweeting is easier than walking down to the office, it is important to google before tweeting and become knowledgeable about the rules and processes. A twitter user who constantly seeks the prince’s blessings for merely likes or retweets, is indirectly becoming the desperado for those deprived.

The said approach will also allow the public servants to be fully vested in what they are doing, so they need not bear the brunt of the minister at first itself. Moreover, such system will reduce the burden on the ministers to search through the hundreds of tweets aimed at them each day. Follow-ups do help in rare and exceptional circumstances. However, it should not become a standard practice for basic things too

KTR blame game – accuses previous regimes for water problem

0

Even after two and half years of his government, completing more than half of the term, following many other ruling parties of the country, Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao blames the previous regimes for the prevailing drinking water problem in the `global city’ Hyderabad, especially in the Old City.

Replying to a question in the State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour today, he said however, the State Government was taking corrective steps to improve the water supply position. He admitted that drinking water was one among three major issues for his party’s grand success in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls by winning 100 of 150 seats. Other major issues are power and law and order.

He assured that the drinking water needs of the city would be met on priority basis. He said he was ready to convene the meeting of city legislators on the issue and the government was also ready to take up short discussion.

Refuting MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s accusation that the Old City is being neglected, the minister said that as against the revenue of Rs. 93 crore, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB)spends Rs. 115 crore in the Old City. However, he admitted that the government was unable to assess the details of water needs in the Old City. He also listed out various works which were sanctioned for the Old City.

He further said that while previous Congress Government had spent only Rs. 377 crore on HMWSSB from 2009 to 2014, during the last two years, TRS Government had spent Rs. 261 crore and sanctioned 7,624 works worth Rs. 448 crore.
