PSV Garuda Vega is one film that has been in news for the technical brilliance. Rajasekhar made his comeback with the film which got huge positive word of mouth. Praveen Sattaru directed the film which faced financial crunch before the release. With not many interesting offers, the makers had to risk and release the film completely by mortgaging Rajashekar’s DE Shaw property in Filmnagar.

As per news coming from film circles, Garudavega team sold Hindi dubbing rights to multiple parties. Jeevitha sold the Hindi dubbing rights to two different parties for Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crores respectively without telling each other. The real story starts here as the makers failed to clear the debts before release and approached a financier who invested on the film. He actually owns all the rights of PSV Garuda Vega excluding the theatrical rights. He is said to have been left in deep shock after the Hindi dubbing rights of the film have been sold out for multiple people without his notice. Rajasekhar is said to have submitted 5000 sq.ft as surety for the financier from one of his prime properties.

A meeting is scheduled later today at Annapurna Studios to see if this issue can be amicably resolved. We have to wait and see how the other parties who bought the Hindi dubbing rights reacts and how this controversy ends.

Apathy from Tollywood on PSV Garuda Vega

In Tollywood, path breaking and trendsetting films usually garner huge support from all avenues. No matter if it is a star studded big ticket film or a low budget film with underrated actors, the support from both audience and industry people has always been encouraging for filmmakers and artists who came with groundbreaking content. We have seen numerous occasions in the recent past when Tollywood bigwigs have openly appreciated films which raised the standards of Telugu cinema. However, Rajasekhar’s PSV Garuda Vega, which perfectly fits in the category of trendsetting Telugu movies in terms of filmmaking, seems to be an exception for this.

PSV Garuda Vega, directed by Praveen Sattaru, generated a superb talk and critics have eulogized it as a rare breed of Telugu cinema for its top notch technical aspects and grand taking with a shoestring budget. Despite good talk, the film is underperforming at the box office. The reasons might be many, but the most disappointing thing is Tollywood celebs have hardly responded on the film.

Rajasekhar and Jeevitha invited many industry bigwigs for the special premier show. But, not many have turned up for the screening. Also, the film garnered very little support in social media from some of the big names in Tollywood who usually shower praises on good films.

Rana Daggubati is the only star actor who praised the film and team in social media. Senior actors Balakrishna graced the audio launch event and Chiranjeevi spared some time with Rajasekhar and Jeevitha before the film’s release. Even star filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who praised enthusiastically about films like Patel Sir and Paisa Vasool in social media, remained silent after watching PSV Garuda Vega.

The apathy shown by Tollywood celebs has slightly disappointed Rajasekhar and team and to some extent it has impacted the collections as well. A film like PSV Garuda Vega deserves good appreciation from all corners.

PSV Garuda Vega Overseas box office report

Last Friday, seasoned star Rajasekhar’s comeback film PSV Garuda Vega released amidst good expectations. Thankfully, the film garnered good reports due to the stunning presentation and taut narration of Praveen Sattaru and Rajasekhar’s commendable performance as NIA officer.

After taking a decent start with $ 30K from its Thursday premiers, the collections improved phenomenally and registered on Friday and Saturday with $ 60 K and $ 106K respectively. With a decent run on Sunday, the overall collections have surpassed the $ 250K mark ensuring a safe zone for its buyers.

Considering Rajasekhar’s non-existent market in Overseas, this is a good box office run for the film. However, trade circles opine that few factors like audience not showing much excitement to watch Rajasekhar’s film and very limited screen count due to release of Hollywood film Thor have hindered PSV Garuda Vega from performing much better. Nowadays in overseas, with a good talk and positive reviews, films with no-name hero are surpassing $ 750K – $ 1M. So, on that factor, PSV Garuda Vega is not a big hit in overseas market.

The film, which was made on a limited budget, was sold in the range of 36 Lakhs in overseas. Distributors, exhibitors will make cool profits.
