Rana, Prakash Raj, Tamannah get notices

2

The Madras High Court on Tuesday issued notices to Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, and Tamannah for endorsing online gambling games.

The court also sent notices to former India cricket captain and BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly, the present cricket team captain Virat Kohli.

While pointing out that online gambling games are banned in Telangana, the Madras High Court directed the Tamil Nadu government to impose a ban on such games. The court was hearing a petition filed seeking a ban on online gambling games.

The court was rather angry at celebrities endorsing online gambling games. “These celebrities seem to be worried about filling their pockets and not care about the welfare of the people. Where is the money that is used in gambling games is going,” the Madras High Court wondered and asked both the State and Central governments to respond within 15 days.

The court observed that online gambling games would set a wrong example for the public, and the apps play with the lives of the people.

Next Enti : Wrong strategy results in poor buzz

0

Next Enti is a romantic entertainer featuring Sandeep Kishan and Tamannah in the lead roles. Bollywood director Kunal Kohli is making his debut in Tollywood with this film. The teasers and trailers released so far positioned the film as a bold and lustful romantic saga targeting younger generation audience.

Tamannah’s glamorous avatar and the peppy proceedings with Bollywood flavour in the visuals are expected to draw more buzz on the film as bold romantic stories are currently on rage in Tollywood. Unfortunately, Next Enti couldn’t garner the required buzz from trade circles and audience. Sundeep Kishan’s poor track record is one of the major reasons for the low buzz.

Initially, Tamannah was reluctant to share screen space with Sandeep Kishan. She wanted a new actor to be cast opposite her and suggested the makers to market the film as a lady oriented genre to attract more buzz from audience. But, the makers have roped in Sandeep Kishan and Navdeep. This wrong strategy has become a liability for the film’s market as there is very lukewarm response from trade circles. Had they been sensible with their casting and promoted it as Tamannah’s film, the buzz could have been the other way.

Tamannaah bags Ninnu Roadu Meeda Chusinadi remix number

5

What would be another item number in her kitty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Telugu360 has reliably learnt, has agreed to shake a leg for the remix number Ninnu Roadu Meeda Chusinadi Laggayithu in Naga Chaitanya-starrer ‘Savyasachi’. It was last month the production house Mythri Movie Makers issued a statement saying that they are in the process of roping a top actress for the number. Turns out, the search has ended with Tamannaah who is presently awaiting the release of ‘Naa Nuvve’.

“It’s a hit number and the makers didn’t want to take a chance with it. After considering multiple names, they zeroed in on Tamannaah who too was more than happy to be a part of it. It would be shot towards this month-end in Hyderabad,” confirmed a source close to the unit.

The source further added, “Chances of original cast Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishna appearing in the song for a brief minute or two are not ruled out. The makers are keen on making this happen as it was their antics in the song that made what it eventually turned out to be. The remix version (composed by the same composer MM Keeravani) has come out extremely well.” Seems Akkineni fans are in for a treat!

My self-discovery happened through fashion: Tamannaah Bhatia

0

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia says it was when she started doing Hindi films that she was trying to figure out who she really is, and fashion helped her to discover herself.

“When I started working and started doing Hindi films, that was when I was really trying to figure out who I really am. That discovery gradually happened through fashion,” Tamannaah told IANS in an interview.

“Fashion is a great medium to express who really you are as a person. It is not something I have woken up and known about. I think I can confidently say that now I don’t feel I am working too hard for it,” she added.

The actress, who has featured in films like “Himmatwala”, “Baahubali: The Beginning”, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” and “Tutak Tutak Tutiya”, is an established name in southern cinema. One of her much-anticipated projects currently is the remake of Kangana Ranaut’s “Queen”.

Talking about paying heed to the fashion police, she said she used to to do that initially.

“I think that helped me. I am thankful to the criticism because I wouldn’t have got better if I hadn’t got the criticism. However harsh they might sound sometimes, it did help me,” said the actress, who is excited about her new projects.

“I am doing lot of south Indian films. I have just completed a Telugu film. It (my schedule) is jam-packed but I enjoy doing films. Being an actor, facing the camera, playing different characters… Because now is the time (for heroines) as different parts are written for women.

“All the films I am doing are very female-centric, their subjects are female-centric. It’s a great time to be doing such movies because the scope is there,” said the actress.

She was a showstopper here for designer Ashwini Reddy at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) summer-Resort 2018, and wore a delicately embroidered, ruffled blouse teamed with a bright red skirt embellished with gold work and a champagne coloured dupatta.

The designer showcased a collection titled ‘Tilottama’. It was a refreshing, edgy, modern take on couture fashion.

Inspired by the celestial beauty of Apsaras, the angels of light from Hindu mythology, this collection was a reflection of the divine feminine. Elegant, delicate and yet traditional, the silhouettes seen on the catwalk were modern renditions of traditional Indian wear that ranged from fusion to bridal ensembles.

One of the highlights of this collection was the use of textures, by mixing fabrics like silks, organza, lycra, brocade, nets, woven textiles, organza and chiffon to add an almost whimsical flair to the designs. The colour palette encompassed a wide range of shades like blues, yellows, greens, pinks, reds, golds, ivory tones, greys, and was perfectly suited to the needs of any trendsetter.

The makers of the four remakes of Bollywood entertainer “Queen” have wrapped up the France schedule of the films.

The 2014 Hindi movie is being remade as “Butterfly” (Kannada), “Queen Once Again” (Telugu), “Paris Paris” (Tamil) and “Zam Zam” (Malayalam). It is about a girl who sets out on a honeymoon alone, and from thereon begins a process of self-discovery for her.

Produced by Mediente, the makers of the film have chosen four different actresses for the lead role.

Co-producer Parul Yadav said in a statement: “I loved that the protagonist elevates herself with each step she takes, even while staying real and funny. The idea of a south remake cropped up as I walked out of the theatre the day I watched ‘Queen’. It has taken us a while to plan the four remakes and I’m excited to be co-producing this important film.”

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who plays Kangana Ranaut’s part from the original in the Telugu remake, said: “‘Queen’ was a different film from the word go; the essence of which was a sense of humour in every situation in life. I wished this film would be made in the south, because it has that kind of potential.

“I am glad to be part of one version. I am in love with France. It is a dream place to shoot at and a dream film to shoot.”

Kajal Aggarwal, who essays the lead in “Paris Paris”, says there’s a need to bring out relevant characters like the protagonist in the movie.

“Heartbreaks are very common. I love the underlying emotions that come across in the scenes. I am glad that talented actresses are playing this role in different versions and taking this story to more people”, added Kajal.

Manjima Mohan, who will be seen in the Malayalam version of the remake titled “Zam Zam”, said: “In addition to the expectations that people have from all the four remakes of ‘Queen’, there are expectations about what we four actresses bring to the table.

“We have added interesting nuances to each of our characters that will relate to people in our states. The story will continue to inspire too”.

Composer Amit Trivedi is working on the music of all the four films.

“My trainer felt I needed to shed a few more kilos so I’m waking up real early everyday to ensure I can give in those two dedicated hours. In fact, I have started skipping, something I have never done before and ‘Queen Once Again’ is making me do thing I have never attempted before,” she added.

Elli, Shibani will bring freshness to ‘Queen’ remakes: Producer

0

Elli AvRam has been cast in the Tamil and Kannada remakes of Hindi entertainer “Queen”, while Shibani Dandekar has been zeroed in for its Telugu and Malayalam versions. The producer says they will lend “freshness” to the movies.

Earlier, Amy Jackson was to play essay Lisa Haydon’s role from the original “Queen” in all its four southern versions. Amy had walked out of the film citing creative differences and non-availability of dates.

Producer Manu Kumaran said in a statement: “We have made several changes to the script and the films are going to be different in each language. We had planned on Amy Jackson initially, but it became clear that the character demanded a specific look and feel.

“Elli AvrRam and Shibani Dandekar will bring the much required freshness to the movies”.

He is upset over Amy’s claims.

“For Amy to say that it didn’t work out creatively is completely wrong as she didn’t meet any of the two directors who are making these 4 movies.”

Pink Ribbon walk

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia on Sunday participated in a walk organised here for breast cancer awareness.

The actress along with Dharini, who fought breast cancer affecting both breasts at a young age of 24, flagged off the run in which about 3,000 people from various walks of life participated.

The ninth edition of the 2K Pink Ribbon Walk was organised by Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation (UBF) and KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases with the slogan ‘Does your heart beat for early detection of breast cancer’.

Breast cancer ‘conquerors’ and their families in addition to large number of students from old city participated in the run, expressing solidarity with the Pink Ribbon campaign.

The walk was aimed at creating awareness about importance of early detection of breast cancer, salute survivors, and spread the message of hope, courage and survival in the fight against the disease.

KIMS chairman B. Krishnaiah, KIMS MD and CEO B. Bhaskar Rao, UBF CEO and KIMS-Ushalakshmi director P. Raghu Ramm UBF founder chairperson Ushalakshmi and other eminent citizens participated in the walk.

UBF and KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases, which completed 10 years, has undertaken many unique initiatives to empower people about importance of early detection of breast cancer.

In India, over 150,000 women are newly diagnosed with breast cancer every year; a staggering number that has overtaken cervical cancer to become the most common cancer affecting women.

Contrary to the western world where breast cancer is common after the age of 50 years, the highest incidence of breast cancer in India is between the ages of 40 and 50 years, said Raghu Ram.

More than 70, 000 women succumb to breast cancer every year – a woman dies of breast cancer every 10 minutes in India. Ram said that more than 60 per cent of breast cancers in India present in the advanced stages and hence death rate from breast cancer is also very high.

Lack of awareness and absence of an organized national breast cancer screening programme are the main reasons accounting for late presentation.
