RTC Strike – Here are some facts

0

Here are some facts about Telangana RTC Strike:

  • Most of losses come from GHMC area. KCR govt promised to reimburse, which didn’t happen.
  • Govt charges only 1% tax on Airplane fuel. RTC pays 27%.
  • Govt giving subsidies to the tune of 600 cr per year.
  • No control on private buses. Those cause ~ 1000 crores loss per year.
  • RTC operates lot of loss making routes as a public service – otherwise lot of rural areas will be completely cut out.
  • Almost all private buses run as stage carriers. No action.
  • Our opinion is Privatization (even partially) is not a good option.
  • Think schools, hospitals. Price gouging and Monopoly on certain routes.
  • All profitable routes will be taken by private operators, leaving loss making to RTC.
Irony – TRS as a party is built on people movement and unions. It is now ironic that KCR government is adding a pre condition that all the new employees shouldn’t join unions.

  • At one point, Harish Rao was President of these unions.
It is sad to see most of media playing govt tune. Of major media houses, only Eenadu has given view point of workers.

  • Pathetic that so called top news channels just parroting Govt press notes instead of presenting the socio economic havoc this could cause

KCR divide and rule – RTC partial privatisation

1

Nearly 50,000 RTC employees are on strike but KCR says his government recognises only 1,200 employees from now. He says that his government has not dismissed others but they have dismissed themselves by taking part in strike. Typical KCR style sarcasm. KCR further says there will be no 100 per cent privatisation. His future policy divides RTC functioning broadly into three types. First, 50 per cent of buses will be owned by RTC. Secondly, 30 per cent of total buses should be rented. Thirdly, 20 per cent buses will be purely owned, run and maintained by private operators.

KCR’s divide and rule policy has come as a rude festival shock to Telangana RTC unions. Interestingly, KCR used these union leaders like his party activists during statehood agitation. Now, the same KCR is hurting, humiliating and insulting these unions like no other CM before. Analysts say KCR is treating RTC unions with the same kind of contempt that he showed towards Andhra leaders and residents in Hyderabad during agitation.

RTC employees are now afraid that KCR’s cunning strategy will deprive them of their democratic rights to protest in future. In the name of partial privatisation, the government will further cripple RTC. The overall future of RTC and its employees will be in danger if KCR implements his latest policy.

Telangana RTC strike flashpoint: 48K employees face axe

0

The indefinite strike by employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) entered its third day on Monday as the KCR government refused to hold talk or even take back 48,000 striking employees issuing orders to recruit new employees and hire more private buses.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao late on Sunday declared that there is no question of taking back the employees into the state-owned transport utility, who did not join the duties before Saturday evening deadline that was set by the government.

“Now only 1,200 employees left in TSRTC,” a statement from Chief Minister’s Office quoted him as saying. This means that government has sacked remaining 48,000 odd employees, though the government has not made any such formal announcement.

Nearly 50,000 employees are on strike since Friday midnight to press for their list of 26 demands including merger of TSRTC with the government.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, not only ruled out merger but also refused to hold any talks with the striking employees.

For a third consecutive day majority of 10,500 buses of TSRTC remained off the roads, causing severe inconvenience to commuters during festival season.

TSRTC bus services carry more than a crore commuters every day.

TSRTC authorities were running partial services by deploying hired buses and temporary drivers.

The Chief Minister has asked officials to recruit employees and hire more private buses.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park near State Assembly when TSRTC employee unions’ leaders reached there to pay their homage. Police arrested the leaders on the grounds that there is no permission for the programme.

Joint Action Committee (JAC) of employee unions took strong exception to the government’s action.

JAC leader Ashwathama Reddy said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) should know that it is in power due to their sacrifices during the movement for Telangana state. He said they were not scared of arrests and threats by the government.

Meanwhile, the fast planned by striking leaders at Indira Park was called off as the police refused to give permission for the same.

JAC leaders said they would hold a meeting later in the day to chalk out their further course of action.

No talks and no merger: KCR shock to RTC JAC

TRS boss KCR instigated RTC employees to take part in strikes and bandhs in Telangana agitation. The same KCR is now suppressing the democratic rights of RTC Joint Action Committee ruthlessly. His government is not giving permissions to RTC protest programmes. KCR, who was once a champion of agitations, is now hating agitations in any corner of Telangana. He is threatening to remove and dismiss all those employees who are taking part in the present strike. He has clarified clearly that there will be no further talks with RTC JAC nor there will be merger of RTC with the government under any circumstances.

KCR’s sudden U-turn has triggered alarming concerns among the average RTC employees. But the JAC has decided to take agitation to peak level and show KCR the power of their unity. However, KCR ordered the officials to start taking on hire the required number of private buses.

Shockingly for the employees, KCR is now indicating about the future problems to the very existence of RTC if the JAC goes ahead with the strike. KCR made a cunning comment that in some states there are no RTCs at all. Such hurting and oppressive comments are creating more confusion and fear in the employees there. KCR is clearly very unhappy over merger and pay hike demands.

Buses remain off roads in Telangana as strike enters 2nd day

0

The buses of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) remained off the roads across the state for a second consecutive day on Sunday, as employees continued their indefinite strike to press for their demands.

Commuters faced inconvenience in reaching their native places for Bathukamma and Dussehra celebrations as buses remained confined to the depots.

Few buses being run by the authorities with the help of temporary drivers and other employees were unable to meet the demand.

The Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) and the Jubliee Bus Station, the two major bus stations in Hyderabad, wore a near-deserted look. The situation was no different in the bus stations in other towns.

Ignoring the government’s ultimatum to return to work by 6 p.m. on Saturday, nearly 50,000 employees continued their strike to press for their demands, the main being the merger of TSRTC with the government..

The government had warned that those failing to report to duty by 6 p.m. on Saturday will be dismissed from service. However, only 160 employees joined the work.

The joint action committee (JAC) of the employee unions has declared that the strike will continue till the government accepts their demands.

TSRTC was operating 2,100 hired buses and some private buses as part of the measures to tackle the strike.

In a novel protest, striking employees, including women, played Bathukamma outside the TSRTC depots. Bathukamma is the folk festival of Telangana during which women dance and sing around specially arranged flowers.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is holding a meeting with Transport Minister P. Ajay and other senior officials to review the situation created by the ongoing strike.

Jagan RTC merger giving tough time to KCR

0

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy fulfilled the 2019 election promise by merging RTC with the government. He did this despite the huge financial burden on the already suffering state budget. Now, this policy has started giving inspiration to RTC employees in other states to agitate for their demands as well. Especially, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation employees have now given strike notice prior to Bathukamma and Dasara festivals.

Consequently, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is under tremendous pressure because of Jagan’s decision. The TSRTC employees are recalling how KCR is ignoring the recommendations of the Ministerial Sub-Committee. They are telling KCR not to forget their participation and active support to his Sakala Janula Samme during separate statehood agitation. TSRTC employees are demanding immediate merger of their corporation with the government. KCR Regime should also give sufficient funds and tax exemptions for its financial betterment.

Meanwhile, Jagan RTC merger is also inspiring RTC employees in Karnataka where they are slowly bringing pressure on the government. They are also doing Ksheerabhishekams to Jagan flexis hailing RTC merger in AP.

‘Krishnarjuna Yuddham’ movie telecasted in TSRTC Garuda Bus! KTR Serious!

8

Telangana state IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has sent a strong warning to the TSRTC. The move came after a passenger brought the telecast of ‘Krishnarjuna Movie’ in the TSRTC Garuda Bus. The best part is that Krishnarjuna Yuddham released on Friday, the 13th of April. And this incident took place on 15th April, 2 days after the release of the movie.

The passenger tweeted questioning how the government can aim to curb piracy among citizens if government organizations like TSRTC are indulging in the same. He also tagged KTR’s official twitter handle with a screenshot of the movie.

It did not take long for KTR to react strongly. The minister condemned the action of the respective TSRTC Garuda bus employees and termed it ‘irresponsible’ on the part of the TSRTC bus staff. KTR requested TSRTC JMD to make sure to act and prevent recurrence of this kind of incidents in the future.
Putting aside everything, the government agencies should carry out thorough investigation into the matter, and trace the origins of the pirated movie.
