TSRTC JAC likely to call off strike today!

0

TSRTC employees and workers who are on strike for the past 46 days are likely to call off their strike today.

TSRTC JAC has convened a meeting of various RTC unions at 5 pm today in Hyderabad to take a decision on the strike.

There is pressure on JAC leaders to call off strike from employees and workers especially after Telangana High Court making it clear yesterday (Monday) that it cannot give any directions to Telangana state government on RTC strike and referred the issue to the Labour Commissioner.

The Labour Commissioner has been directed to hold talks with RTC unions and resolve the strike within two weeks.

The Labour Commissioner will take a decision on referring the case to Labour Court, if talks with RTC unions fail.

Looking at these developments, RTC employees lost hopes that their demand would be met and are also worried that it may take more time if they continue to approach courts on this issue.

They already lost two months salary and with November also coming to an end, they would lose salary for the third month also. They are not in a position to lose their salaries anymore due to financial problems.

They realised that there is no scope for Telangana CM KCR softening his stand on RTC strike and he wants to fight this case in courts for any amount of time, if employees continue strike.

In this backdrop, the JAC leaders reportedly decidedly to call off their strike today.

TS Govt rejects High Court proposal to end RTC strike!

0

It seems that Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is in no mood to take steps to end TSRTC strike, which entered 40th day today.

KCR directed officials not to accept High Court proposal to constitute a high level committee comprising of three retired Supreme Court judges to mediate between TS government and RTC unions to resolve the strike.

High Court mooted this proposal yesterday and sought TS government’s opinion on it.

Following the directions of KCR, the TS government officials filed an affidavit in High Court today expressing TS government reluctance to constitute a committee.

The government said in the affidavit that there was no need for another committee when the RTC strike is in the purview of Labour Court.

The goverment requested court to give directions to Labour Court to take a call on RTC strike as per the existing Acts and procedures.

Violence during RTC employees’ march in Hyderabad

0

Violence broke out during a protest by the employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), who are on strike, here on Saturday as hundreds of protestors managed to reach Hussain Sagar lake, defying police orders.

Police used batons and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the protestors who removed the barricades to enter Tank Bund, the road on the banks of the lake connecting the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Some protestors including the activists of various parties supporting the employees, were injured in the lathicharge.

Though the police had barricaded Tank Bund and surrounding roads since morning, the protestors took the police by surprise by entering Tank Bund from both sides. They broke the barricades, sat on the road and raised slogans against the government for not accepting the demands of the employees, who have been on strike for more than a month now.

The protestors including women also tried to rush the lower Tank Bund road from adjoining localities. Tension prevailed as the police chased the protestors and used tear gas. Rapid Action Force (RAP) personnel were deployed to tackle the situation.

BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president M. Kodandaram and leaders of Left parties, trade unions and student groups were arrested when they were heading towards Tank Bund.

Ashwathama Reddy, convenor of the employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC), who called the march, was also arrested.

Tank Bund and other major roads surrounding Hussain Sagar lake were out of bounds for traffic since Saturday morning as police sealed the area to foil the march.

Tank Bund, Lower Tank Bund, Telugu Talli Flyover, Indira Park Road, Secretariat Road, Necklace Road, Khairatabad Flyover and all other roads leading to the lake were sealed by the police, which has denied permission for the protest. Hundreds of policemen were deployed around the lake to prevent protestors from reaching the area, a popular picnic spot.

NTR Park, Lumbini Park, Indira Park and Sanjivaiah Park around Hussain Sagar were closed for visitors as a precautionary measure.

The JAC of the TSRTC employees called for a ‘Chalo Tank Bund’ protest as part of their ongoing strike to press for their demands. The police, however, refused to give permission for the march on the ground that this could disturb law and order in the city.

Police took several leaders of the TSRTC employees and the opposition parties into preventive custody or placed them under house arrest across the state. The arrests were made since Friday evening.

Police also set up check posts at the entry points into Hyderabad to prevent TSRTC employees from entering the city.

The strike by over 48,000 TSRTC employees entered the 36th day on Saturday. Their demands include merger of TSRTC with the government.

However, taking a tough stand the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government rejected the demand for merger and even announced privatisation of half of the TSRTC routes.

Though the Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the state government to take the initiative to resolve the employees’ demands, no end to the stalemate appears in sight as both the sides are sticking to their stand.

Agitation style tactics may not help KCR!

0

TRS boss and CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is known for his blind belief in his capabilities for agitations and ideological confrontations. However, he is facing unexpected, unique trouble from the Central government, the BJP Telangana unit and the High Court. Just at a time when the RTC JAC was losing its strength, the HC and the Centre began bringing pressure on KCR to give up his unilateral style of functioning.

But old habits die hard. KCR’s agitation style tactics are continuing even after tasting enormous success in Telangana agitation. He is continuing to find fault with everyone who is not toeing his line of thinking. Now, KCR is not accepting the observations of the High Court on the illegality of Telangana RTC formation.

Very ironically, KCR is bringing pressure on the IAS officers to go and convince the court. He blindly says that the TSRTC is formed as per the Motor Vehicles Act 1950 section 3. But, the Central government says that TSRTC has no constitutionality since it is not formed with its approval. It appears that KCR is switching into agitation spirit against the court and the Centre. But that may not work as it is not like provoking regional sentiments to get victory like in Telangana agitation.

HC stay on KCR’s RTC privatisation

0

The Telangana High Court is putting all sorts of brakes to the speed of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. Now, the court has ordered KCR to stop the privatisation of 5,100 routes till Monday. The court also ordered the government to submit the Cabinet proceedings concerning the routes privatisation. This is indeed a big shock. KCR is taking all decisions against the RTC employees at review meetings with the officials. Cabinet meetings are a mere formality.

The HC is making no secret of its unhappiness against the KCR government’s handling of the RTC crisis. Though orders are given to pay salaries to the striking employees, the government is not paying. This has become a reason for serious differences between the government and the judiciary.

The High Court is equally hitting back at the KCR Circar in every aspect. The Central Government is also not cooperating with KCR. The BJP is trying to weaken TRS and make political gains out of this.

No legality for TSRTC: Centre tells HC

0

The Central Government submitted before the Telangana High Court that the division of Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has not been completed yet. The Centre also told the court that the formation of the TSRTC is unconstitutional and illegal as the mother organisation APSRTC is not separated as per the Reorganization Act.

The Centre clarified that its permission is not taken for the formation and division of assets between the two transport corporations of Telugu states. With this, the KCR Government’s sensational exercise to privatise hits a roadblock. The HC asked how the state government could form the TSRTC on its own without following due procedures and without consulting the Centre.

Indications are there of the BJP leaders’ increased interference in the RTC issue to weaken the TRS boss in the coming days.

Telangana privatises 50% RTC, issues ultimatum to striking staff

0

Unfazed by the ongoing strike by the employees of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), the state government on Saturday announced privatisation of 50 per cent of RTC routes and warned the employees that if they fail to join duty inside the next three days, it will privatise the remaining routes.

The major decision was taken at the state Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

He told reporters after the meeting that private operators will be allowed to run buses on 5,100 routes.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, said he was giving a chance to the striking employees to save their jobs and the future of their families.

“If they don’t return to work by November 5 midnight, we will privatise remaining 5,000 routes,” he said.

Rao said the decision to privatise the routes was irrevocable as the state was empowered to do so under the Motor Vehicle Act, 2019.

The Chief Minister once again ruled out the merger of TSRTC with the government. He said the Cabinet passed a resolution that TSRTC can’t be merged with the government.

The decision came even as the indefinite strike by over 48,000 employees entered its 29th day on Saturday.

KCR reiterated that the strike was illegal and asked the employees not to fall into the trap of union leaders and spoil their future.

The Chief Minister on October 7 had announced that 1,200 employees remained with TSRTC as the others did not join the duty before the expiry of the October 5 deadline.

Stating that he had no intention of making the employees jobless, KCR pointed out that he raised their salaries by 67 per cent during last four years.

He said the decision to partially privatise TSRTC was taken to ensure efficient public transport and provide better service to the people.

He clarified that the private operators will work under the control of TSRTC and there will be a regulatory commission to fix fare and take care of other issues.

KCR said the in future, the employees will not be able to blackmail the government by going on strike during festival and exam time.

KCR said Telangana was doing what states like Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal had already done.

“Privatisation will bring healthy competition and improve the service,” KCR said, as he denied that profit-making routes will be given to the private operators.

Slamming the BJP for supporting the striking employees, he reminded the state leaders of the party that their government in Madhya Pradesh privatised RTC, while their government at the Centre enacted a legislation empowering the states to privatise RTCs.

Telangana privatises 5,100 RTC routes

IAS officers creating confusion: Telangana HC

0

The Telangana High Court took serious objection to the manner in which the KCR government is playing a ‘numbers game’ with the lives of RTC employees. The angry remarks were made after RTC Incharge Managing Director Sunil Sarma told the court that the government need not pay any arrears to the RTC. Already, all dues are paid. But the court said it is not correct for a senior IAS officer to give wrong figures.

The Court asked how can the government show loan concessions given for buying new buses as repayment of dues to the RTC. IAS officers are creating this confusion instead of solving the crisis. Sunil Sarma said that loan concession amounts were used to buy diesel and pay salaries.

The High Court asked the government officials whether this was how they intend to submit reports to the court. The judges asked officials how the GHMC could pay Rs. 108 cr to RTC when it has a deficit budget of Rs. 556 cr during 2015-’16. The court reminded Sarma that the TRS Minister himself said in the Assembly that dues were to be given to the RTC.

IAS officers should not tell lies, says RTC JAC

0

The KCR government and the RTC Officials are creating an impression that the employees’ unions are not cooperating for the success of the talks. The officials spread it in the media that the JAC leaders left the talks midway without any regard for the orders of the High Court. That is totally incorrect. JAC Convenor Aswathama Reddy says that it was the officials who walked out of the talks half way through. He deplored that the falsehoods are being spread about them. He said that the IAS officers should not tell lies as they are in important positions.

The JAC feels that their agitation is getting greater support than they expected from all sections of the Telangana society. The TRS government is appearing fearless on the outside but it is very much nervous internally on the future turn of the strike. To express their anger, the Telangana RTC Mazdoor Union flag colur is changed from pink to white. The new flag was hoisted at the union office.

The employees unions are now preparing to make their Sakala Janula Samarabheri a resounding success. It is being held at Saroornagar on October 30. All RTC employees along with their families, people’s organisations, political parties and others are taking part in this massive protest.

RTC strike continues in Telangana as talks fail

0

As per High Court orders, the RTC management held talks with the employees’ JAC leaders today. However, the talks failed to yield any result. The JAC leaders came out of the meeting and expressed their disappointment. JAC Convenor Aswathama Reddy said that the management is refusing to discuss all the 26 items proposed by them. He further said that the talks were being held in a unilateral way. The KCR government seems to have called for these talks only for name sake in view of the High Court orders.

Only yesterday, the government gave indications of its two-pronged strategy to resolve the strike. But, its game plan changed once again. The JAC leaders are saying that this kind of talks will not be held even with an enemy country. The ruling TRS is treating employees very badly by confining the talks to just 21 items.

The employees’ leaders accused the management of trying to leave an impression that the JAC is not cooperating for the talks as per the court orders. Understandably, the government has set a prior agenda for holding these talks. Aswathama Reddy announced that they would be ready to attend talks if the management is ready to discuss all the 26 items.

Telangana RTC begins talks with striking employees

0

With the indefinite strike by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees entering its 22nd day on Saturday, the Corporation management has started talks with its employee leaders to break the impasse.

Acting on the direction of the Telangana High Court, the TSRTC on Saturday morning invited the Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is spearheading the strike to press for various demands and in the afternoon began discussions to resolve the deadlock

The government had on Wednesday constituted a committee of TSRTC officials to look into the employees’ demands, except that for the TSRTC’s merger with the government.

The committee submitted its report to the government late on Friday. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao discussed the report with Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar and officials. It was at this meeting that the Chief Minister directed the TSRTC to invite JAC leaders for talks.

JAC convenor Ashwatthama Reddy had earlier said talks would be held on all the demands. He denied dropping the demand of merger.

The talks are being held two days before the next hearing of public interest litigations (PILs) in the High Court. At the previous hearing last week, the High Court had directed the government to hold talks with the striking employees.

The strike by nearly 50,000 employees began on October 5, but the government declared the strike illegal and refused to hold talks with the employees. After the expiry of the deadline on October 5 evening, the Chief Minister declared that only 1,200 employees remained in the state-owned transport entity.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, said over 48,000 employees dismissed themselves by not joining duty before the expiry of the deadline. He threatened to deal firmly with those trying to disrupt bus services being operated by the TSRTC with the help of temporary employees.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to recruit more drivers and conductors on temporary basis and hire more private buses.

The strike took a political turn when the entire Opposition extended support to the strike. The JAC has been staging protests across the state. It also called a state-wide shutdown last week.

In between the the strike two employees committed suicide, while some others died of cardiac arrest, allegedly due to depression caused by the job loss and non-receipt of salaries for September.

KCR on Thursday stated that the TSRTC has no money to pay salaries to its employees. He even remarked that the Corporation is finished and nobody can save it from shutting down. He blamed the union leaders for the situation and hinted that the government will go ahead with the privatisation of the Corporation.

TSRTC union leader booked as strike enters 21st day

0

In a new twist to the ongoing strike by employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), police in Hyderabad on Friday booked their leader on a complaint by a driver.

Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor Ashwathama Reddy was booked on charges of wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation.

The case was registered at Kukatpally police station on a complaint by driver K. Raju, who alleged that Reddy was instigating employees and was responsible for deaths of few employees. The complainant said that the demand to merge the TSRTC with the government was Reddy’s own demand and not that of employees.

The development came on 21st day of the strike by more than 48,000 employees of the state-owned transport utility over various demands including the merger of the TSRTC with the government so that they are treated at par with the government employees.

The case was booked hours after Ashwathama Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was trying to divide the striking employees to foil their protest.

The Chief Minister had said on Thursday that the TSRTC is on the verge of closure due to the strike and blamed its union leaders for this situation. He alleged that the union leaders were playing with the lives of the workers.

Rao also firmly ruled out the TSRTC’s merger, saying it can never happen. Stating that neither the TSRTC nor the government has money to pay the September salary to the employees, he remarked that nobody can save the corporation.

The Chief Minister had already declared that 48,000 workers ceased to be employees of the TSRTC as they did not join the duty before the expiry of the deadline.

The strike has seen suicide of two employees while some other died of cardiac arrest, allegedly due to depression over losing the job and not receiving salaries.

Meanwhile, Ashwathama Reddy and other JAC leaders held a meeting with the BJP’s state President K. Laxman on Friday. The BJP leader said that the party has brought the issue of strike to the Centre’s notice.

Laxman alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders had set their eyes on the assets of the TSRTC and that was the reason they were talking of shutting it down. He assured all support to the striking employees and urged them not be cowed down by the threats.

TRS leaders eyeing RTC prime properties: BJP

0

BJP Telangana President K Laxman has assured his party’s total supply to the RTC employees in the face of threats from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao. In the coming days, the RTC agitation will be taken to the Delhi level. Already, the BJP national leadership is fully aware of the employees’ problems. They will take preventive steps at a right time. Laxman accused the TRS leaders of setting their sights on grabbing the multi-crore prime properties of RTC. These properties are located in Hyderabad and different towns all over the state.

RTC JAC convener Aswathama Reddy and other leaders met with Laxman at the BJP office. Later, Laxman talked about the oppressive measures being taken by the KCR government. He asked whether the ruling TRS has any right to close down the RTC. The employees need not be afraid of the empty threats being issued by KCR.

The BJP Telangana leaders are forming an agenda to involve their party in the agitation for protection of RTC properties. On the other hand, KCR is saying that employees’ salaries can be paid only if the RTC properties are sold out.

No money to pay September salaries, TSRTC tells HC

0

State-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) told the Telangana High Court that it has no money to pay salaries for September to the employees, whose indefinite strike continued on 17th day on Monday.

The TSRTC informed Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili that the public utility requires Rs 239 crore to pay the salaries to over 48,000 employees while it currently has only Rs 7.49 crore.

TSRTC incharge Managing Director Sunil Sharma, in his counter-affidavit, told the court that the strike has resulted in loss of Rs 125 crore during the Dasara season.

The court was told the TSRTC was running in losses and dependent on the government to pay salaries to the staff.

The organisation submitted this during the hearing on a petition by National Mazdoor Union, seeking direction to the TSRTC and the state government to pay salaries for the month of September to all the employees.

According to the affidavit, the company’s annual income last year was Rs 4,882 crore while the expenditure was Rs 5,811 crore. It had outstanding loans of Rs 4,709 crore and arrears to the tune of Rs 1,660 crore were payable to the employees.

The court was also informed that the salaries of the employees were hiked by 67 per cent since the formation of Telangana state. They were given 44 per cent fitment in June 2015, which imposed a burden of Rs 900 crore annually. In July 2018, 16 per cent interim relief was provided to the employees at an additional cost of Rs 200 crore.

The incharge MD submitted to the court that the employees illegally went on strike when their demands were being discussed at the Labour Department. He said though the government gave an assurance that it will strengthen thecorporation, the employees still went on strike, causing hardship to people.

The petitioner argued that since the employees worked during the entire month of September, non-payment of salaries for the working period is unconstitutional. It also brought to the court’s notice that non-payment of salaries was driving employees to the suicides.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the judge adjourned the hearing to October 29.

The next hearing will be a day after a division bench resumes hearing on Public Interest Litigation (PIL), seeking direction to end the strike.

The indefinite strike by the TSRTC entered its 17th day on Monday. The strike began on October 5 with a charter of 26 demands, the main being the TSRTC’s merger with the government.

Despite the High Court suggesting to the government, the TSRTC and striking employees to initiate talks, the impasse continued as both sides stuck to their demands.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of striking employees want the government or TSRTC management to invite them talks to discuss all demands including merger.

However, the government has ruled out taking back the striking employees into the TSRTC. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has already declared that they ceased to TSRTC employees as they did not join duties before the expiry of the deadline.

The government has termed the strike illegal and slammed the employees for going on strike during festival causing huge loss to TSRTC, which was already in the red.

The TSRTC has been running the bus services with the help of temporary employees while the striking employees were continuing protests across the state.

Meanwhile, educational institutions re-opened on Monday following extended Dasara holidays. The government had extended the holidays by a week in view of the strike.

TSRTC officials claimed that the strike did not have much impact on the students as the bus services were operated to near normal level.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar on Monday held a video conference with TSRTC officials and District Collectors. He directed them to ensure that 100 per cent of the bus services are operated.

For the second time on October 18, the High Court had asked the TSRTC to hold talks with the leaders of the employee unions.

RTC JAC Convenor arrested by KCR Circar

1

In a shocking development, the KCR Government arrested RTC JAC Convenor Aswathama Reddy from a protest meeting at Sundarayya Bhavan park. JAC Co-convener Raji Reddy, Venkanna, others were also taken into custody. The arrests were seen as a new strategy of the KCR Circar to suppress the agitationists. On his part, Aswathama Reddy gave a call to the RTC employees to continue their strike till the last minute. He expressed shock that CM KCR is adopting a dictatorial stand instead of resolving the workers’ problems.

Aswathama Reddy demanded that the government leave its adamant attitude and begin talks with the employees. He asserted that the RTC employees are determined to continue the stir by facing any hardships. Obviously, KCR is unhappy that the RTC strike is transforming into a bigger platform for all opposition parties to come together.

The RTC JAC is getting support from the other employees unions as well. CITU national vice-president Padmanabhan expressed surprise how a leader like KCR who was born in agitation is now suppressing the strike.

Telangana RTC driver who attempted self-immolation dies

0

A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) driver, who attempted self-immolation, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital here on Sunday, triggering protests by striking employees and opposition parties.

Srinivas Reddy, who set himself on fire in Khammam town on Saturday and sustained critical injuries, died at the Apollo DRDO Hospital in Hyderabad, where he was admitted.

The driver had resorted to the extreme step during a protest by TSRTC employees, whose indefinite strike entered the ninth day on Sunday.

Employee unions alleged that Reddy was depressed over losing his job as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that over 48,000 employees dismissed themselves by not joining duty before deadline set by the state government. He has ruled out taking back these employees into TSRTC.

The driver’s death triggered tension near hospital in Kanchanbagh area as leaders of TSRTC employee unions and opposition parties reached there and staged a protest against the government, blaming it for the employee’s death.

The protestors raised slogan against the government. The police had a tough time in controlling the crowd at the hospital.

Tension prevailed in Khammam district as incidents of stone pelting on the TSRTC buses were reported since Saturday evening.

Unknown protestors stopped buses being operated by temporary drivers, forced the passengers to get down and then attacked the vehicles. No one was injured in these incidents.

As TSRTC is operating buses with temporary staff, three incidents of attacks on drivers occurred in Khammam.

A Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TSRTC employees unions on Saturday decided to further intensify the strike. It called for a state-wide shutdown on October 19.

The Chief Minister has rejected all the demands of the striking employees including the main demand for merger of TSRTC with the government. He also ruled out talks with them.

HC rejects KCR Circar’s report on RTC strike

0

The Telangana High Court has refused to accept the KCR government’s report on the steps taken to resolve the crisis due to RTC strike. The court ordered the government to file its fresh report in five days. The new report should comprise full details of how the government tried to solve the problems of RTC workers and what steps it has taken to prevent problems to travelling public. The hearing was taken up based on a complaint by a petitioner who wanted court to intervene in the matter.

The HC also ordered the RTC and the employees unions to file their reports. Whatever it is, the RTC crisis has become a much bigger problem in Telangana than expected. The state has a long history of leftists and working classes’ movements. During the united Andhra Pradesh also, most of the agitations and Maoist problems were faced on Telangana soil. Now, the RTC strike is getting support from all employees unions, opposition parties and revolutionaries.

It is undoubted that KCR Regime has failed to take alternative steps to overcome RTC strike. Consequently, festival travellers faced untold problems. General public are openly expressing their anger. KCR is now coming out with his brilliant ideas on partial privatisation. But damage is done already and the High Court is not going to sit as a silent spectator. KCR embarrassed Andhras a lot in agitation and now he is facing greater embarrassment from Telangana society from all sides?

Telangana opposition backs RTC employees, mull shutdown

0

Telangana’s opposition parties have come together to throw their weight behind the ongoing indefinite strike by the employees of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and are planning to call a state-wide shutdown.

Slamming Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for his “dictatorial” action of sacking over 48,000 striking employees, the opposition parties on Wednesday discussed the proposal of calling a state-wide shutdown to show solidarity with the protesting employees, whose indefinite strike entered fifth day.

At the all-party meeting called by Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the TSRTC employee unions, the leaders of the opposition parties said a decision on calling ‘Telangana bandh’ will be taken on Thursday.

Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) leader M. Kodandaram demanded that the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) immediately initiate the process to merge the TSRTC with the government. He alleged that there is a conspiracy to sell the TSRTC’s assets and called up on all the opposition parties to join hands to foil this attempt.

Kodandaram, who had played a key role in the movement for statehood to Telangana state, said the time had come for another mass strike. “We appeal to all to come together to save the democracy in the state,” he said.

The leaders decided to meet Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and submit a memorandum, seeking her intervention to resolve the TSRTC crisis.

Addressing the meeting, Communist Party of India (CPI) state Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said his party would not accept privatisation of the RTC. He warned that if the government failed to take back its decision, the CPI would be compelled to reconsider its support to the TRS for the Huzurnagar by-election.

The CPI had last week announced its support to TRS for October 21 by-election to Huzurnagar Assembly seat.

JAC leader Ashwathama Reddy said they decided to intensify the protest to press for their demands. He said the employees would stage ‘dharnas’ at RTC depots and take out rallies on Thursday.

Meanwhile, government employees and teachers took out rallies in various parts of the state to express solidarity with the striking RTC employees.

The Congress, the Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also extended their support to the strike by RTC employees.

Congress leader Gudur Narayana Reddy advised Chandrashekhar Rao to show some serious concern over the inconvenience being faced by nearly one crore commuters due to the ongoing strike and take measures to resolve the crisis.

He alleged that the Chief Minister first aggravated the RTC crisis by not addressing the problems being faced by employees and now he is trying to take advantage of the strike to initiate privatisation.

“KCR’s family is eyeing the RTC properties worth more than Rs 65,000 crore across the state and wants their possession in the name of corporation’s revival plan. The Chief Minister is neither concerned about the inconvenience being caused to nearly one crore commuters nor bothered about fate of over 48,000 employees whom he declared as ‘self-dismissed’. He is creating a situation wherein his family members and friends can easily take over RTC’s valuable properties under the curtains of strike,” Reddy said in a statement.

0

The Telangana RTC strike is getting into deeper crisis with each passing day. CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is making provocative statements that are hurting the employees greatly. Moreover, he has initiated efforts to recruit new drivers and conductors to get the RTC buses back on the roads.

Amid such hostile situation, the RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders met at the Hyderabad Press Club in Somajiguda. They discussed about the latest political situation arising out of KCR’s aggressive statements. JAC Convenor Aswathama Reddy said that they are considering to take their agitation to the next level. If needed, a Telangana Bandh would be called soon. JAC is determined to tell KCR about his limitations though he is CM.

TDP leader Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy, TJS chief Kodandaram, Left parties leaders and others took part in JAC. They clarified to KCR that he has no constitutional right to dismiss thousands of RTC employees in one single stroke. The JAC is considering to intensify their stir on the lines of Telangana agitation to teach KCR a big lesson.
