For years, Vijayasai Reddy was regarded as the sharp strategist and most trusted aide of the YS family. From the era of YS Rajasekhara Reddy to the rule of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijayasai Reddy stood firmly beside the party leadership. He shared prison time with Jagan and emerged as the undisputed number two in the YSR Congress Party. That once unbreakable bond now appears irreparably fractured.
After resigning from the Rajya Sabha and distancing himself from the party, Vijayasai Reddy has launched a direct political offensive against Jagan. He openly blames the former Chief Minister’s inner circle for sidelining him after 2019. According to him, the rise of a powerful coterie within the party steadily eroded his influence and damaged mutual trust.
Vijayasai Reddy has alleged that he endured years of humiliation and was deliberately portrayed as a backstabber. Public criticism from Jagan accusing him of secret meetings with opposition leaders widened the rift further and pushed the conflict into the open. The ongoing liquor scam investigation has added fuel to the fire. After appearing before the Enforcement Directorate, Vijayasai Reddy stated that he had no role in policy decisions. Political observers see this as a calculated attempt to shield himself while placing moral pressure on the party leadership.
Now, Vijayasai Reddy is preparing for a statewide padayatra from June. The march is expected to mark his political comeback and help him reconnect with the public. Speculation is rife that he may align with the Bharatiya Janata Party or launch a new political platform of his own.
