YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Tenali to meet the families of alleged rowdy-sheeters has triggered widespread criticism and debate. The way he handled the visit, the people he chose to meet, and those he avoided, has now become a talking point. During the press meet, Jagan appeared unprepared reading from notes yet struggling with names, fumbling his statements, and confusing facts.
Jagan questioned how Tenali police could bring accused individuals from Mangalagiri, which has puzzled many. People are asking: Is the former CM unaware that police can arrest suspects from any location once a case is filed? Or was he deliberately trying to point fingers at the police? His logic seemed inconsistent, and critics feel he was more interested in defending the accused than seeking justice.
Despite repeatedly saying he was there to support innocent families, YS Jagan publicly revealed their identities. He even pointed to children and their educational backgrounds, saying, “This girl is an engineer, that boy studied mechanical in polytechnic,” exposing them on camera. Until then, locals may have known these families, but Jagan’s press event put them in the public eye, raising questions about whether it was sympathy or public shaming in the name of politics.
YS Jagan repeatedly condemned how police allegedly beat up these families on the road. Yet people recalled earlier incidents under his own rule, like how police manhandled Dr. Sudhakar in broad daylight in Vizag, or how MP Raghurama Krishna Raju was treated in custody. Where was YS Jagan’s concern for justice back then?
Interestingly, those out on bail, like John Victor and Kareemulla were not seen during the visit. It’s being speculated that YS Jagan avoided them fearing public backlash. Meanwhile, his followers held “Jai Jagan” banners during the visit, making many wonder: was this a heartfelt visit or just another paid political display?
