Rajinikanth starrer 2Point0 has considerably slowed down on weekdays after a strong show in the first weekend. The visual extravaganza, directed by Shankar, started off with lukewarm premiers and moderate first day collections but gradually picked up momentum in the first weekend with a strong haul on Saturday and Sunday.

After ending the first weekend with a decent $ 3.7 M and emerging as the fourth biggest grosser of South India, 2Point0 has performed poorly on weekdays. On Monday and Tuesday, the film managed to collect $ 130K and $ 160K respectively to surpass the $ 4M mark at the US box office. Going by this trend, 2Point0 might end as a loss venture for the producer as it was their own release after they rejected a 30 Crore offer from a noted distributor.

The film needs to collect a minimum of $ 7M to be termed as a decent grosser. But, that mark looks very distant at this point. So, the film needs a strong second weekend to minimise the loss.

2point0 All India Two Days Collections

2.0 has another below par day on Friday at All India level, with exception being the Hindi version. In Two Telugu States , it has done decent business to an extent and surprisingly the disappointing performance is from Tamilnadu.

All India combined, 2.0 has collected a distributor share of 23.5 Crores on second day, taking two days total share to 61.5 Crores

In terms for Gross, this film has collected 46 crores on it’s second day taking 2 days All India gross to 114 Cr North India has been the highest contributor with 20.9 cr gross where as Telugu States have contributed 9.75 Cr gross. It is performing at below par levels in Tamil Nadu as second day gross is just 9 Cr. The film is sure to show big jump on Sunday especially as family audience will be coming on that day and then it will be all about the Monday hold.

Rajinikanth starrer 2Point0 is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited film of the year. Amidst sky high expectations in audience and much hype in trade circles, the film released all over this Thursday.

Like most of the big ticket films, 2Point0 also garnered rave reviews from early morning fans shows all over Tamil Nadu. Tamil critics and web portals have rated 2Point0 very high. And, most of the leading Telugu websites seem to have carried away by the strong hype and exaggerated talk from Tamil reviewers. Of all the Telugu portals, Telugu360 is spot on with the analysis and rated 3/5 for the grand visuals. Our reviewer opined that story wise 2Point0 is just a so-so watch, but technically it is a visual extravaganza. Many other websites have given unreasonable ratings for this film.

After two days, 2Point0 managed to get average feedback from common audience and the box office numbers also paint a similar picture. The film is likely to end as an average performer at box office in its full run.

2Point0 overseas first day collections

The blockbuster combination of Shankar and Rajinikanth is expected to set the take the overseas box office by a storm with their latest offering 2Point0. Shockingly, the film which opened on Thursday to decent reviews couldn’t post strong numbers on its first day including premiers.

As per the latest trade updates, 2Point0 collected a gross of $ 900K ( all languages) by the end of Thursday including Wednesday premiers. This is a terrible start for such a massive combination and the embarrassing numbers have come as a huge surprise for trade analysts as 2Point0 is one of the eagerly awaited films this year. What is more shocking is that these numbers are less than some of the disastrous Telugu films like Spyder and Aagadu.

Even Rajinikanth’s flop film Kabali collected around $ 2.7 M on its first day. High ticket prices, poor buzz and lack of strong publicity in overseas are the reasons for this dismal opening of one of the highly anticipated films this year. The film needs to have a super strong weekend to end as a respectable grosser in overseas.
