Naidu blames Govt for death of Amaravati farmer

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has accused the YSRCP Government of causing endless misery and painful deaths to Amaravati Capital City farmers by following unconstitutional policies. He blamed the Government’s 3 Capitals plan for the latest death of Nannapaneni Venkateswara Rao who took part in the Capital city protests till yesterday. Today morning, the farmer was found dead due to a heart attack. Till now, over 65 Amaravati farmers and farm coolies died painful deaths amid heatless treatment meted out by the ruling party leaders.

The TDP president, in a Twitter message, deplored that farmer Venkateswara Rao had given away all his 4 acres of ancestral lands for building a good capital city for AP state as a whole. But, he was subjected to harassment and anguish leading to his eventual death.

Mr. Naidu said even though the farmers were succumbing one by one, there was nobody from the side of the Government to come and console the bereaved families. The ruling party was following oppressive policies to break the hearts of the farmers and local residents.

It may be recalled that the Amaravati protests reached a new peak ever since the AP Governor signed the 3 Capitals and CRDA Repeal Bills. The farmers have been agitating and coming on to the roads along with women, youth, farm coolies and local residents vowing to intensify their agitation against CM Jagan Reddy’s Capital shifting plans.

Be real heroes, support us: Amaravati farmers to film industry

1

A group of farmers gathered outside the guesthouse where the film industry biggies were housed to put forth their concerns over three capitals proposals of the Jagan government. At around 2.30 pm, when the film industry delegation left the guesthouse, the farmers tried to meet the stars they patronised for years. However, the film stars drove past the farmers without as much acknowledging their presence.

The farmers were deeply hurt as the Mercs and Audis drove past them. Talking to the media, the protesting farmers questioned why the film industry was silent on the government’s move to shift Amaravati. They demanded that the film industry extend its support to the cause and condemned Chiranjeevi for supporting the Jagan’s three capitals move.

Seven members of the Telugu film industry, including actors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, director S S Rajamouli, producers Daggubati Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, C Kalyan and Telugu Film Chamber secretary K L Damodar Prasad, on Tuesday met Jagan at his Tadepalli camp office. “Actors and filmmakers who show appreciation for farmers on screen should come out on the streets of Amaravati and support us. The Telugu film industry should respond to our problems,” a farmer said. Student leaders and farmers held placards ‘Save Amaravati’ ‘One City, One Capital’ and raised slogans such as “Be real heroes, support Amaravati.” Some of them said that if the need arose, they would not hesitate to enforce a ban on screening their films in Andhra Pradesh.

The protests of farmers in capital Amaravati reached the 174th day on Tuesday demanding that the State government withdraw the three capitals proposal. Despite the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown, the farmers in the region continued their peaceful protests at their homes in the capital villages. “The film industry is ignoring the farmers’ protest by not supporting us though we have been agitating for the last 170 days. The farmers came forward and gave more than 35,000 acres for constructing the new capital for the State in Amaravati. We bought movie tickets, considered you as our heroes, our gods. Is this how they ignore us? They need our lands to build studios, but will not stop for a minute to talk to us,” said another farmer, visibly distrubed.

Government notices to Amaravati farmers

0

The Amaravati farmers are continuing their anti-capital shifting protests in their villages. They have taken precautions not to violate the social distancing guidelines issued by the Centre. However, the YCP government issued notices to the farmers asking why they are violating the norms. As per the virus preventive measures, minimum two to three meters distance has to be maintained between person and person. This is necessary because corona virus is highly contagious and infectious even if the people are negligent in the slightest way.

In the past two days, the local police have already alerted the Amaravati farmers on the need to stop protests under virus prevention measures. But the farmers continued their dharna camps by keeping minimum distances between themselves. They are also wearing mouth masks and using hand sanitizers.

Despite this, the medical officials issued notices to farmers taking part in protest camps at Mandadam, Rayapudi, Yerrabalem, Krishnayapalem and other Capital city villages. Stern measures are being taken ahead of PM Modi’s Janata Curfew event on Sunday.

Police taking illegal custody of Amaravati farmers?

0

The Amaravati Agitation JAC leaders said that the AP Police had taken illegal custody of Capital City farmer Vamsi Krishna. When asked, the Police officials are saying that Bansi is not in their custody. Now, the JAC leaders released footage of how the police secretly took away Vamsi Krishna.

The JAC leaders held a protest demonstration in Amaravati Capital City area today demanding immediate release of Vamsi. They threatened to approach the High Court once again on the disappearance of their fellow farmer.

Amaravati agitation leaders recall how the Jagan Reddy government is making illegal arrests to suppress the struggle for Capital City. Only a fee days ago, the High Court ordered CBI probe into the disappearance of three opposition activists over complaints of indecent social media posts. The court took objection to the manner in which Guntur Urban SP PHD Ramakrishna and his team acted in the issue of disappearance of three activists.

In the latest incident, Vamsi Krishna was long a target of the police as he was coordinating the activities of Amaravati protests from the beginning.

YCP sketch to divide and cripple Amaravati farmers

0

The adamant Jagan Reddy government initially didn’t care to talk to the Amaravati farmers on the issue of shifting Executive Capital out of their region. Many farmers have filed court cases while Chandrababu Naidu halted Capital shifting by getting AP Council Select Committee enquiry into 3 Capitals plan. More litigation is threatening to paralyse the whole Jagan Reddy government sooner than later.

In the face of increasing odds, Jagan Circar came down a step and started trying to open a dialogue with the agitating farmers. Very cleverly, Jagan sent his party MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu to convince the farmers to talk to the government committee which will be set soon to sort out Amaravati lands issue. Devarayalu belongs to the same Kamma caste against which YCP has launched a historic negative propaganda. Doubts are that the committee is aimed to divide and create disunity in farmers.

Despite this caste-based gestures, Amaravati farmers clarified that they would not settle for anything other than construction of global capital city as promised in their area. Because, farmers took massive loans and made huge financial commitments based on high real estate values before. Now, real estate collapsed and farmers are facing total bankruptcy including loss of ancestral properties. The Amaravati JAC also became alert to stop YCP plans to divide and rob the farmers of their precious lands and livelihoods.
