Balineni meets Jagan, says ready to work with new cabinet

1

Former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy had met chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s residence in Tadepalli on Monday evening. Government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy visited Balineni and took him to the chief minister’s residence.

Balineni was upset with the denial of a berth in the new cabinet. It was Balineni who announced first that the chief minister will revamp the total cabinet. It was he who said that all 25 ministers will be replaced with new faces.

He also announced that he would be loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy even after the cabinet revamp. However, there are 11 ministers who were taken back in the new cabinet and Balineni feels that injustice was done to him.

Added to this, the chief minister had accommodated Balineni’s rival Adimulapu Suresh in the cabinet from Prakasam district. It is said that Suresh and Balineni are not on good terms even as ministers.

After a brief meeting with the chief minister, the former minister had said that he is ready to work with the new cabinet. He further said that he had no differences with Minister Adimulapu Suresh and they are good friends.

“As ministers we worked together. We are Jagan’s soldiers and we will work together to retain power in the state,” Balineni asserted.

It may be mentioned here that Balineni is one of the close relatives of the chief minister and plays a key role in Prakasam district party activities.

Will Gupta episode finish off Balineni’s political career?

2

Will the unsavory episode relating the physical attack on party leader Somisetty Subbarao Gupta spell a doom for the political career of Minister and YS Jagan’s close relative Balineni Srinivasa Reddy? Though there have been several allegations against Balineni, the latest episode could turn out to be the proverbial last straw on the camel’s back, say those in the know.

Sources say that the attack on Subba Rao Gupta has become a blot on Balineni’s political career. Despite his efforts at damage control, things have gone out of control. On Balineni’s birthday, Gupta made some comments over the way the party was being run. Soon, his own party members, led by Balineni acolyte Subhani attacked Gupta. He was thrashed in a hotel room and the video has gone viral.

Later to control the damage, Balineni got Subhani arrested, but also got him out within hours on station bail. He also invited Gupta to his residence and assured that he would stand by him. Despite that, Gupta sought police protection for himself claiming that his life was in danger.

Balineni is already in the dock for several reasons. His followers are said to be involved in land grab. His diehard supporter was arrested with cash worth Rs 6 crore on AP-Tamil Nadu border. Now the Gupta episode has damaged his image to no end. Political watchers say that the attack may even lead to his ouster from the Cabinet. The whole incident has pushed Balineni onto the defensive.

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will drop all the ministers from his cabinet soon and induct all new faces into his cabinet.

This was disclosed by none other than Balineni Srinivas Reddy, the minister for energy in Jagan’s cabinet and considered to be the close aide of YS Jagan.

Balineni said he has no fears that he will lose his minister post soon.

Balineni reminded Jagan’s earlier statement when he formed his cabinet in June 2019. At that time, Jagan stated that he will continue this cabinet for first two-and-a-half years and later give chance to others for the remaining two-and-a-half years term of YSRCP government.

Going by this, Jagan has to change his cabinet by December this year.

However, there were speculations that Jagan may not remove seniors like Botsa Satyanarayana from his cabinet but Balineni’s comments show that Jagan will not spare anyone and he will go for a totally new cabinet in December.

Balineni said it’s the ‘policy decision’ of Jagan to change cabinet after six months and everyone should abide by it.

He further said that he will completely support Jagan in changing his cabinet.
