With three of her last four films not doing well at the ticket counters, Hebah Patel is pinning high hopes on her next, ‘24 Kisses’. We hear director Ayodhya Kumar, who has bagged a national award for his maiden feature ‘Minugurulu’, has designed a beautiful part for her and the entire unit is hopeful of the actress bouncing back.

“She plays a media student who lives her in her own bubble in the film. How her path crosses with children’s filmmaker Anand (played by Adith Arun) is what the film all about. She has even lost 10 kilos for the part and her makeover is bound to take everyone by surprise,” confirmed a source close to the team, while adding that Hebah has given her everything for the project and workshops prior to going to sets helped her a great deal. “She has taken the project on a prestigious note and is confident that it will bring her back into the big league.”

‘24 Kisses’, a Hyderabad-set adult love story, is presently in post-production. The makers are planning to kick-start the promotional campaign of the film shortly.

Actor Raj Tarun and Hebah Patel have teamed up for the third time in the forthcoming Telugu entertainer “Andhhagadu”. He says they click as a pair every time because they share great compatibility.

“With Hebah, I don’t feel like I’m acting because we are such good friends, we complement each other so well and we do it effortlessly. It’s our compatibility of understanding of each other that makes us click as a pair each time,” Raj told IANS.

In the film, which is due for release on Friday, he plays a blind character.

Talking about his role, Raj said: “It’s a fun film. While it was challenging to play the character, I had a ball being part of this project. I appear for just 40 minutes in the film.”

Directed by Veligonda Srinivas, the film is produced by Anil Sunkara.

Asked if he finds it comfortable doing romantic-comedies, he said: “My motive as an actor has always been to entertain audiences. I can’t see myself doing a drama or thriller because it’s too heavy for me. I like watching such films but I don’t think I can do them.”

Having made his Tamil debut this year in a cameo role in “Balloon”, Raj says he will only consider foraying into other industries provided a “good script” comes along.

‘Andhhagadu’ is going to have a big release on 2nd June. The Raj Tarun starrer has been making good buzz thanks to the intriguing theatrical trailer and the promotions by the team. This movie marks the debut of writer Veligonda Srinivas as director and has Raj Tarun’s lucky charm Hebah Patel as the leading lady.

The makers are upbeat about the film. So much so, they have decided to hold premieres in major cities and towns in the Telugu states a day before the release. In overseas, Mister managed to get limited screen count on Thursday premiers. According to the latest trade reports, the film took a slow start by collecting $ 35 K on its premiers. Mister garnered a below average response from all areas. Despite an entertaining first half, the film couldn’t receive positive reports due to the beaten-to-death story line and monotonous second half. The first weekend will decide the fate of the film’s box office prospects.

Filmmaker Sreenu Vaitla and Mega hero Varun Tej teamed up for an out and out entertainer titled Mister. The duo is in need of a decent hit to their credit, as their movie careers are going through rough patch with back to back debacles.

Amidst good buzz, Mister hit the movie screens today ( April 14th). Let’s see if the film brought the much-awaited good days to both Varun Tej and Sreenu Vaitla.

Story:

Chai (Varun Tej) lives in Spain with his parents while his grandfather Pichaiah Naidu (Nassar) lives in a village near Andhra-Karnataka border. Meera (Hebah Patel) on her five day visit to Spain, stays with Chai’s family and becomes his good friend. Chai assumes that she is in love with him, but to his surprise she reveals details about her boyfriend. Chai with a positive attitude takes ease of the situation and remains calm. Threatened by the brother of Meera, her boyfriend expresses his inability to marry her. Disappointed Meera seeks help from Chai, who upon arriving to India encounters with a village lady Chandramukhi (Lavanya Tripathi).

Both the lead ladies are in trouble from their respective relatives’ gangs. The rest of the story revolves around how Chai protects them. Another interesting aspect of the movie is the lady with whom Chai gets married.

Performances:

Varun Tej is super cool in this film, his styling need special mention. However, he needs to be more flexible in fights and dance movements. Hebah patel as Meera is fine and carried glamour quotient well in the first half. Lavanya Tripathi as village belle is just adequate.

Comedians Srinivasa Reddy, Prudhvi and Raghu Babu performed well. There are many villains who are impressive.

Analysis:

After a long gap director Srinu Vytla has executed scenes with panache throughout the first half. Scenes that happen in Spain are entertaining. The movie has his trade mark satires, punches and also a spoof on Nagarjuna’s Oopiri film. Vytla did not hesitate to show case self-parody.

However, as the interval approaches, there are too many villains involved. Adding to the woes there were many chases with hardly any impact. Out of three songs in the first half – Kadile Lokam Motham and Edho Edho Bagunde are good on screen. Especially Edo Edo Bagundhe song is superb on screen. Overall, first half impresses the audience.

As second half starts, Chandramukhi’s (Lavanya Tripathi) story starts and the movie graph goes down because her family is introduced as the successors of Sri Krishna Devaraya. The entire sequence in itself was weird. Songs in second half are ordinary. Sayyorii Sayyori is a fast beat number and Nee Meeda Manasayera is an item song which has some good dance moves by Madhu Sneha. Sankranti song is just average. Overall, second half is a typical commercial potboiler with no spark.

The major flaws in the movie is due to the presence of too many villain characters and sub plots. These acted against the movie which otherwise would have turned out to be a good movie. Srinu Vytla’s obsession with too many villains marred his previous movies, and yet he did not seem to learn.

Mickey J Meyer tunes work well with masses but background score is dull in chasing sequences. K.V.Guhan’s photography is very good, adding more grandeur to the rich production values. Editing by M.R .Varma is super crisp except for the pre–interval scenes.

Verdict:

Mister movie has an entertaining first half and a mediocre second half – but overall impression would be an average. Mister has all commercial ingredients stuffed, along with rich production values but farcical second half played the spoilsport for this film. Summer holidays and lack of competition may fetch some revenue at the box-office in India. Regular movie goers may watch this film at leisure.

Young actor Nikhil Siddhardh is back on silver screen after an year. His last movie – Kona Venkat’s Shankarabharam, was a disaster and Nikhil pinned huge hopes on his latest film Ekkadaki Pothaavu Chinnavada. The film’s trailer raised the expectations and curiosity levels in the audience.
Story:

Arjun (Nikhil) goes to Kerala for his friend ‘s (Vennela Kishore) psychological treatment. While in Kerala , Arjun comes across Amala (Hebah Patel) ,who is also a telugu girl, and falls in love with her. Later after returning to Hyderabad, Arjun realizes that the lady Amala is not a human but a spirit who has taken over Nitya’s body. Meanwhile, Amala’s spirit leaves Nitya’s body and enters into another lady Parvathi (Nandita Swetha) ‘s. The story looks illogical on paper, but director Anand narrated it convincingly. Rest of the story is how Amala’s sprit tries to get close with her Lover Arjun who is still alive.

Lead cast:

Nikhil Siddhardh gets a tailor made role and he suits the bill perfectly. Hebah patel looked odd in some frames, but she sizzled in a western dance bit in second half. Nandita Sweta is right find for the character. Avika Gor appeared in a short role in flashback which is key to the story.

Vennela Kishore got a significant role. All YouTube comedy stars acted in this movie and generated decent comedy.Billy Muralee who acted as the Tantrik is scary and good

Analysis:
Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada story is fun filled and thrill to watch on screen. This movie is in line with the trending genre – horror comedy. Director Vi Anand has ensured that the movie has right dose of thrill factor and situational comedy. The movie opens slowly, but picks up. The interval bang sets perfect pitch for second half. Second half is well paced and gripping and the pace slows down towards the climax. Had the director handled the climax better, the movie would have done wonders.

Songs are shorter than normal and nothing much to rave about. ‘Neetho unte chaalu’ , ‘ Chirunama tana chirunama marachipoyenE ‘ songs stands out while other two songs are just ok. .Background score is another asset for this movie and music director Sharat Chandra did a wonderful job. .

Sai Srirram’s cinematography, with good lighting themes, elevated the mood of the film

Positives:

Thrilling narration
Decent comedy
Casting and performances – Nandita sweta is a perfect fit for the role
Ghost / Spirits story has been told convincingly with some debate around it

Negatives:

Dragged climax (USA prints have 3 minutes additional footage, compared to India)
Initial parts of the movie should have been better.
Few audiences may complain about too many twists

Verdict :

‘Ekkadiki pothavu Chinnavada’ is an easy one time watch. Given the genre and youth theme, this medium budgeted movie should perform decently at box-office to breakeven in normal season. However, the cash crunch going on in India may impact a bit. EPC is going to be the ‘guinea pig’ for Telugu industry to estimate the impact of Demonetization. In overseas, the film should make some noise as there are no major release in coming weeks.

Sometime ago, Telugu360 reported that Raj Tarun and Manchu Vishnu will team up for a multistarrer which will be directed by Nageswara Reddy. Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments will produce this interesting multistarrer.

We have exclusively learnt that Anjali and Hebah Patel are going to play the lead roles in the film. This is an interesting casting coup by the makers as both Hebah Patel and Raj Tarun have impressed the audience with their recent outing Kumari 21F. Their onscreen chemistry has struck the right chord and entertained the audience big-time. So, it would be interesting to if the young pair can cash in on the craze and perform an encore.

The film will be launched very soon and the regular shooting will commence early next year.

  1. Sukumar’s first film from his production house Sukumar Writings i.e., “Kumari 21 F” starring Raj Tarun, Hebah Patel in the direction of Palnati Surya Pratap has completed the talkie part of the shoot.

The unit has already completed filming four songs.

Apart from being the producer / presenter of the film, Sukumar has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues.

Palnati Surya Pratap, who assisted Sukumar in his earlier films, is the director of “Kumari 21 F”.

This film has cinematography by R Rathnavelu (of Arya, Robo, 1–Nenokkadine, Lingaa) and music is being composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

Devi Sri Prasad has composed superb songs and the unit has already completed filming four songs.

Sukumar Writings is producing “Kumari 21 F” in association with PA Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd. The film is being produced jointly by Sukumar, Vijaya Prasad Bandreddi and Thomas Reddy Aduri (of PA Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd)

The unit has kick started and is executing post production activities in full swing and the producers are gearing up for release during dasara season in October.
