KGF: Chapter 2 happens to be one of the most awaited Indian releases next year. The film is high on expectations after the super success of KGF: Chapter 1. Bollywood veteran actor Sanjay Dutt will play the role of the lead antagonist. The shoot of the film got disrupted after Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer. Two major action episodes are left pending and Sanjay Dutt promised to shoot for the film and he rejected the proposal of a body double. The good news for the makers of KGF: Chapter 2 was that Sanjay Dutt recovered completely from lung cancer recently.

The actor allocated bulk dates for KGF: Chapter 2 and the shoot will resume in December in Hyderabad. Both these action episodes will be canned in Ramoji Film City with which the entire shoot of KGF: Chapter 2 will be completed. The makers are in plans to release the film in summer 2021. Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF: Chapter 2 features Yash and Srinidhi Shetty in the lead roles. The film produced by Hombale Films will release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages.

The makers of KGF: Chapter 2 wanted to release the film for Dasara initially and the shoot was put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Prashanth Neel and his team utilized their best and wrapped up most of the post-production work during this time. The film’s lead antagonist Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer which left them worried. Prashanth Neel at any cost wanted to release KGF: Chapter 2 for Sankranthi 2021 but the latest update says that the film may not hit the screens during the festival time.

Sanjay Dutt is returning back to the sets and he would shoot for his portions in November. The other portions are currently shot in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The makers initially wanted to shoot Sanjay Dutt’s portions through a body double. Now, Sanjay will make his presence and the shoot may not be completed in November. The delay in the shoot is now pushing the release date further. There are speculations that KGF: Chapter 2 will hit the screens in summer 2021. The producers who pooled out big money are also considering about the coronavirus wave and decided to delay the release as of now.

Amazon Prime is now in talks to acquire the digital rights of the next pan Indian release m KGF: Chapter 2. It is heard that the digital giant quoted Rs 55 crores for digital rights including all the languages (Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam). The film is carrying massive expectations and several pan Indian actors are playing prominent roles.

Considering the expectations and the impact the first installment created, Amazon Prime decided to shell out a huge amount for the digital rights of the film. Amazon holds the digital rights of KGF: Chapter 1. The film is currently in final stages of shoot and is expected to release soon. But the delay in the work pushed the film’s release. The film’s director Prashanth Neel is now busy finalizing the release date. He is in talks with the VFX team about delivering the output.

Prashanth Neel believes that Telugu is one of the biggest markets for the film and KGF: Chapter 2 should not have a clash with any Tollywood film. Hence he is in plans to announce the release date at the earliest. Chiranjeevi’s upcoming project, Pawan Kalyan – Krish film, Prabhas’s romantic drama, Allu Arjun’s next and others are already gearing up for release this year.
