1

Telangana state cabinet on Saturday decided to lift lockdown completely in the state from tomorrow, June 20.

The state cabinet which met at Pragathi Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Miniser K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to lift the lockdown totally across the state as corona cases have come down drastically in the state.

These restrictions have helped to control corona situation across the state.

The total number of corona positive cases have now fallen below 1,500 mark per day. The positivity rate also fell to less than 2 per cent.

TS cabinet to meet on May 30 to decide on lockdown extension!

1

The Telangana State Cabinet will meet on May 30 to discuss and take a decision on extension of lockdown in the state.

The cabinet meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan will review the implementation and impact of ongoing lockdown in the state and the need to extend the lockdown by few more days to check the spread of coronavirus.

KCR had imposed 20-hour lockdown in the state from May 12 from 10am to 6 am every day. Four-hour relaxation from 6am to 10am is being given every day.

Initially, the lockdown was imposed till May 22 but was subsequently extended to May 30.

Speculations are rife that KCR wants to extend lockdown further by a week or two weeks till June 7 or June 14 in the cabinet meeting to be held on May 30.

KCR angry at ‘non-serious’ enforcement of lockdown in TS!

1

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday expressed severe angry at district collectors and SPs of all districts for adopting a casual approach towards enforcement of lockdown in Telangana.

KCR imposed lockdown in Telangana since May 12 which will be in force until May 30.

KCR on Friday visited Warangal MGM Hospital to interact with Covid patients, doctors and health staff.

After his visit, KCR held a video conference with collectors and SPs of all districts from Warangal collectorate.

In the video conference, KCR expressed anger over the ‘non serious’ implementation of lockdown in districts.

KCR said he had imposed lockdown for the health and lives of people despite state government losing thousands of crores of rupees of revenue but collectors and SPs are not taking lockdown seriously and allowing crowding of people during relaxation period and allowing people, motorists on to the roads during lockdown period.

The CM said the corona positive cases are witnessing a downward trend since lockdown was imposed and this benefit will be lost if collectors and SPs are non-serious over lockdown.

He directed collectors and SPs to enforce lockdown strictly till May 30 and take tough action against violators.

Telangana lockdown leaves AP isolated

Finally, even Telangana has gone for lockdown for 10 days. Already, nearly 26 States in the country have shut down to prevent the spread of Covid second wave. Everybody thought the Telugu States would remain in curfew mode considering their financial and political commitments.

But now, CM KCR has taken the final decision on lockdown. With this, AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has become isolated on this count. With Telangana going for lockdown, all the surrounding States of Andhra Pradesh are now in lockdown. This makes AP also a lockdown State, practically speaking.

As it is, the movements along the borders have been restricted and constantly regulated. The e-passed are made a must for entry into AP.
Telangana lockdown will be effective from tomorrow for ten days.

AIIMS Chief calls for a ‘tough lockdown’ in India

2

Both the Central and State Governments are not ready to impose an economic lockdown to prevent Covid spread. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Advisor (Public Affairs) to AP CM, has ruled out financial lockdown considering the already existing economic crisis in the State. On the other hand, the national and international virology experts are giving strong advice for Indian and its States to go for lockdown immediately.

US Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony S Fauci has already said India should go for lockdown to solve the epidemic crisis. Now, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has made a similar advice. AIIMS chief Dr. Ranadeep Guleria has predicted a more serious and grave situation if India does not opt for a ‘stricter lockdown’.

The AIIMS chief clarified that the night curfews and weekend lockdowns in the past few days have proved to be ineffective and useless. The virus was spreading fast and a lot of lives were being lost. Moreover, there was the rising threat from the Coronavirus variants.

Dr Guleria pointed out how Maharashtra and Telangana have failed to show good results out of the night curfews. He said that even vaccination and herd immunity would be useless if the Covid variants started spreading fast.
