Forget the jibe after NOTA, Nikhil now lends support to Taxiwaala

    0

Actor Nikhil Siddhartha usually minds his own business without any controversies. What came as a big surprise to everyone is one of his tweets a few weeks ago which is understood as a jibe on Vijay Devarakonda’s reaction on NOTA result. After NOTA failed badly at box office, Vijay came up with a strong post aiming at those who are celebrating his failure.

As soon as Vijay posted his reaction, Nikhil came up with a tweet which read as ‘ For People who think world revolves around them and throw unnecessary attitude around , Dude UR not that important, every actor competes with himself. Hype less work more’. This post has received a lot of negativity from Nikhil’s followers and he immediately deleted it. Many have lambasted Nikhil for being envious of Vijay Devarakonda’s growing popularity.

Surprisingly, Nikhil has now extended full support to Vijay’s upcoming film Taxiwaala, which is releasing this 17th. Yesterday, Nikhil took to Twitter and requested audience not to encourage piracy. Vijay has reciprocated to this post and thanked Nikhil for his support. In reply, Nikhil wished best of luck to Vijay and team in his next tweet. It seems like Nikhil wants to redeem for his jibe after NOTA by giving support to Taxiwaala.

Taxiwaala directed by Rahul Sankrithyan is set for grand release on Saturday.

    NOTA – Producer’s greed result’s in 10 Crore loss

    0

Vijay Devarakonda’s bilingual political drama NOTA tanked heavily at Tollywood box office. As Vijay scored a blockbuster hit with his previous film Geetha Govindham, trade expectations were quite high on NOTA.

Producer Gnanavel Raja was offered good prices by Telugu distributors for theatricals of NOTA. There were offers in range of 16-18 Crores from AP/TG. Had Gnanavel Raja sold the rights at those prices, he would have been in a safe zone with table profits. Out of greed, he quoted nearly 35 Crores for the rights in Telugu states. So, distributors backed out from the exorbitant deals. Left with no option, he released the film on his own in all major areas like Nizam, Andhra and Ceded.

As NOTA ended as a box office disaster, Gnanavel Raja has now incurred nearly 10 Crores loss from Telugu language alone. Trade analysts opine that Gnanavel has paid the price because of his greed.

‘ I will be back ‘ asserts Vijay Deverakonda

    0

Tollywood heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda always wears his heart on his sleeve. He openly accepts criticism and is also well known for his self-deprecating attitude. While he takes pride in his success, he accepts failure on a serious note and moves on. Once again, he has proved why he is in a different league among his contemporaries.

As his latest film NOTA heading towards a disaster, Vijay Devarakonda decided to open up about the result and take complete responsibility about it. He put out a note through his Twitter handle and asserted to make a strong comeback soon.

In his brief write up, Vijay said he will not make excuses and accepted the failure. He strongly stated that he is proud of NOTA and said that all the criticism is taken seriously. He also pointed that success or failure isn’t what makes or breaks a rowdy. He concluded his views on a sarcastic note.

Vijay Devarakonda has a slew of projects in his kitty. He is now awaiting the release of Taxi Wala.

US box office : NOTA is disaster, DevaDas couldn’t sustain

    0

It was another terrible weekend for Telugu films at the US box office. While the latest release NOTA had a miserable run, Devadas couldn’t add much moolah to its kitty in the just concluded weekend.

NOTA took a moderate start with $ 187K from its premiers. Due to the disappointing reviews and poor word of mouth, the political thriller couldn’t draw audience during the first weekend. With $ 69K and $48K from Friday and Saturday respectively, the film has disappointed trade circles bigtime. Awful numbers on Sunday ( $ 25 K approx) means that the film will end as a huge disaster in overseas.

Nagarjuna and Nani starrer Devadas, which had a decent first weekend despite low ratings, couldn’t sustain in the second week as it failed to add prominent numbers. The comedy caper collected meagre revenues in the second weekend and the total stands at $ 775K

Trade circles are now awaiting the release of upcoming biggie Aravindha Sametha which is hitting the screens on this 10th in overseas.

Domestic Weekend Report : NOTA Below Par, DevaDas remains low

It was a disappointing weekend at the Box-office with New Release NOTA having a poor trend over Saturday/Sunday & the holdover film DevaDas failing to add much.

    1. NOTA : After a very good opening on Friday, the Film has dropped big on Saturday & failed to grow much on Sunday. In fact the collections on Sunday are much less than Saturday which tells how poor the film is. The film has collected an estimated distributor share of 8.20 Cr in Domestic markets in it’s opening weekend against the valued rights of 20.50 Cr. BELOW PAR !

    2. DevaDas : After a huge drop on Wednesday last week, the film continued to remain low even over the weekend. It has added an estimated distributor share of 1.50 Cr in it’s second weekend taking 11 days total to 20 Cr approx. Domestic Theatrical rights of the film are valued for at least 32 Cr. The film is a confirmed FLOP now & will get even worse if nothing happens over the coming days.

    3. Venom: The film has surprisingly opened well in Telugu States. GOOD !

    4. Nawab: The film is a disaster as it hasn’t added much in second weekend to an already low total. Cumulative share of the film is at 1.75 cr against the rights of 3.60 Cr. DISASTER !

    5. Other new release like Bhale Manchi Chowka Beram & Desamlo Dongalu Paddaru have opened to very poor numbers.

Tamil directors flop streak in Tollywood continues

Tamil directors of present generation are having a tough time in convincing Telugu audience. It is fair to say that they have mixed luck while working with our heroes.

If we look at the trend, Tamil directors of the past have delivered good hits in Telugu. Directors like Bala Chander, Mani Ratnam, Suresh Krishna and P. Bharati Raja are the some of them who managed to make films according to the sensibilities of Telugu audience and tasted success. Later on, directors like Karunakaran, Selvaraghavan, Gautham Menon, SJ Surya, Lawrence et al, who initially made a promising mark in with good films in Telugu, couldn’t sustain in the long span. Others like Dharani (Bangaram) and Vishnuvardhan( Panja) failed to score big in Telugu as their debut Telugu films bombed at box office.

In recent times, star Tamil directors who are ruling roost in Kollywood are struggling to deliver hits in Telugu. Last year, AR Murugadoss made a big ticket film with Mahesh Babu ( Spyder). The film ended as a disaster. Critics panned the film for too much of Tamil flavour. This year, another Tamil director who took the plunge into Tollywood is Anand Shankar who directed Vijay Deverakonda in a political thriller titled as NOTA.

NOTA released to mixed reports in Tamil and poor reviews in Telugu. As per trade reports, the film is likely to end as a flop venture in Telugu. Once again, the nativity factor and sensibilities are being discussed as the areas of disappointment from the Tamil director.

So, the flop streak for Tamil directors continue in Telugu. Next up, talented director Atlee is planning to direct a star hero in a direct Telugu film. Will he end manage to reverse the trend ? Let’s wait and see.

NOTA Review : Lackluster Political drama !

    NOTA Review Rating VIJAY Deverakonda

    Telugu360 Rating : 2.25/5

NOTA has grabbed the attention of audience for its political setup with Vijay Deverakonda essaying a serious role who takes on the contemporary politics in his own style. Trade circles are keenly waiting to see if Vijay manages to pull crowds without any youthful and entertaining elements. Directed by Anand Shankar, the film has Mehreen Pirzada as the female lead. Let’s find out how it fares.

    Story :

Vasudev ( Nasser ) , the chief minister of Telangana state , is a hero turned politician. He makes son Mr. Varun ( Vijay Deverakonda) as proxy CM on the advice of a Swami Ji. After Vasudev goes to jail on corruption charges, the responsibility of running the state remains with Varun who is a novice in politics. Rest of the story is all about the hurdles Varun encounters as CM

    Performances:

Accepting full pledged politician role is a bold step by Vijay Deverakonda. Had he chosen a gripping subject, it would have helped him to reach wider audience out of his forte youth segment. We cannot call this role as miscasting, but Vijay’s image and CM role didn’t add up positively. Heroine (?) Mehreen role is equivalent to a guest appearance in length, hence cannot comment on her performance in guest role. Senior actors Nasser , Satyaraj got lengthy and cakewalk roles. Most of the drama in the film involves these two characters, performed well. In second half , Nasser makeup is very bad. M S Bhaskar, priyadarshi played key roles and are okay.

    Analysis:

Attempting a serious political drama with a young and urbane image hero needs substantial depth in story. Of course every political story might not have depth, a minimum engaging story is needed to keep audience interest for 2.5 hours. NOTA lacks such story , also suffers from poorly written scenes. In general , Political dramas have ample scope to play to the galleries by discussing day to day problems of the common man and proposing some superficial cinematic solutions. Ironically NOTA fails even in that aspect. A corrupt CM who is also benami for a swami ji earns thousands of crores. Then swamiji tries to take over all the wealth after Vasudev (Nasser) goes to jail. Swami Ji even attempts to take the life of CM, on the other hand new CM Varun tries to change the functionary of government officials and party workers. First half is somewhat bearable but the second half of the film turns out to be a farce and tests patience. There are no dialogues to be remembered, which is a setback for a political genre film. The swami ji thread is half baked, the title NOTA has not even remote justification. Political drama interlaced with family conspiracies , hospital scenes and resort camp scenes etc. remind us, relatable to Tamilnadu politics.

Except introduction song, there are no commercial songs which of course we cannot expect from this genre. Same with entertainment, there is absolutely no relief in terms of comedy. The flashback of Nasser, Satyaraj takes more length. There is no justification to the title NOTA , not even an attempt to justify the title. Overall, no single scene stands out in the film.

The production values by Studio Green are good. Director Anand Shankar yet again fails with simple subject.

    Positives:

    • Vijay Deverakonda
    • Some relatable political drama for Tamil Nadu State

    Negatives:

    • Weak Story, Insipid narration
    • Lack of any Entertainment
    • Very bland second half

    Verdict:

NOTA is a forgettable political drama with no noteworthy moments at any phase. It offers some relatable elements for Tamil audience, but for Telugu states no such saving grace. With no entertainment nor other commercial elements, overall this film disappoints. A bad judgement by Vijay Deverakonda because of whom this film opened well at Box-office across South India and USA

Vijay Deverakonda to receive a warm welcome in Chennai

    0

In another few hours, ‘NOTA’ will hit the screens simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu languages. This film also marks the debut of Vijay Deverakonda in Tamil but way before this film, Vijay is quite popular in Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai.

With ‘Arjun Reddy’ Vijay became a pan south India star and the song ‘Inkem Inkem Kaavaaley’ was a hit all over. At the public meet event of ‘NOTA,’ producer Gnanavelraja had disclosed that they bought the distribution rights of Vijay’s last outing ‘Geetha Govindam’ in Tamil Nadu for Rs 20 Lakh and on the first day, the film went on to collected over Rs 1 crore gross.

And Vijay is going to get a grand welcome in Tamil Nadu and here is how it is. Usually only the movies of top stars of Tamil cinema will have special preview shows at early morning 5 am in Chennai on the release day. Surprising everyone 10 shows of ‘NOTA’ are scheduled tomorrow morning at the same time. This is purely based on Vijay Deverakonda’s craze and another interesting aspect is, no other Tollywood hero (whoever debuted in Kollywood in the past and recent times) has ever got this sort of introduction.

Vijay also said he wants to make films in all the languages down south and this might be the well beginning he is anticipating for.

Mehreen has no hopes on NOTA

    0

Golden beauty Mehreen who initially tasted back to back hits has been disappointed with back to back debacles C/O Surya, Pantham and Jawaan. The actress pinned all her hopes on NOTA featuring Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. The film has been carrying huge buzz and is expected to open with a bang. The film’s result will not have any impact on Mehreen’s career as the actress has a short and serious role assigned.

Mehreen plays a journalist in this political drama and she has no scope for romance and entertainment in the film. Mehreen plays a serious role in NOTA which will have a limited screen presence. Mehreen who is thriving hard to make her impact in Tollywood will have to wait for the release of F2 to prove her mettle and bounce back. She is romancing Sudheer Babu in his next and is playing the second female lead in Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ next directed by Teja.

High court to hear PIL on NOTA movie today

    0

NOTA movie, starring Vijay Devarakonda, is slated to release on 5th October. As the story of the movie is set up in political backdrop, there have been objections from different quarters to stop the movie release. There is a public Interest Litigation filed in High Court to stop the release of the movie and high court will be hearing the case today.

The petition is filed by Joint Action Committee leader of Osmania University. The petitioner argued, this movie will help one particular political party in Telangana state elections and sought the court to stop the release of this movie. He also mentioned in the petition that election code is already in effect in Telangana. The petitioner also requested that the movie need to be watched by Election Commission and ensure the scenes that impact Telangana polls be removed from the movie.

Most of the Vijay Devarakonda movies are landing into one controversy or the other before the release and that eventually helping the movie to get better openings. Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam also landed in some kind of issues before the release but later they went on to become very big hits. We have to wait and see if this movie also repeats the same feat.

September disappoints, all hopes on October

    0

September has passed and disappointingly none of the films have failed to make any major impact at the box office. ‘Manu,’ ‘C/o Kancharapalem,’ ‘Silly Fellows,’ ‘U Turn,’ ‘Shailaja Reddy Alludu,’ ‘Nannu Dochukunduvate’ and ‘DevaDas’ are the noted films that have hit the screens.

Though couple of films managed to get decent ratings, none of them worked out commercially. ‘C/o Kancharapalem’ is the best movie in the whole of September but that did not translate at the ticket counter as it lacked universal appeal.

Now that September has passed, all eyes are on October which is also the festival season and film analysts are hoping for a good run. Vijay Deverakonda will start the proceedings with ‘NOTA.’ This film is carrying strong buzz and being a political thriller, it has ticked all the right boxes to get the attention.

Then comes Young Tiger Jr NTR’s ‘Aravindha Sametha Veera Raghava’ which is arriving with a loads of expectations. Being the first combination of NTR and Trivikram, big bets and huge money is involved.

Last is Energetic hero Ram Pothineni’s ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame.’ Ram has pinned high hopes on this movie as he disappointed with this previous films.

    Overall, October is all set.
