Northie as TTD EO draws flak from Pawan Kalyan and Swaroopananda

0

The appointment of 1993 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, Anil Kumar Singhal, as the Executive Officer of the esteemed Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is mulled with controversies. Singhal, who was the resident commissioner of AP Bhavan, New Delhi, won the heart of the chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu but not the bureaucrats and politicians.

The government has ever since appointed IAS officers who belonging to South India to the TTD executive officer’s post. Those opposing the appointment claim that it is not mere IAS post but TTD EO should understand Hindu especially South Indian culture and TTD concords. They also said that it is very difficult for Singhal who hails from Himachal Pradesh to understand the TTD conventions and culture.

The IAS officer was allocated to Telangana after the bifurcation but he opted Andhra Pradesh. Allegedly Singhal played vital role in not only routing the Central funds but also framing the critical Special Package for the State. While on one hand Singhal seemingly has support of Telugu MPs, on the other hand speculations are rife that TDP government bowed to pressure from the central government and Sangh Parivar.

When there are allegations that North Indians are dominating South Indians, the first one to respond is obviously Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan. He took to twitter and questioned, “Would they allow any South Indian to take up the administrative position of such scared shrine of Northern India like … “Amarnath Varanasi and Madhura etcetra…”

Taking it further Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati, terming the appointment as “unfortunate”, said if needed he would knock the doors of the court.

Nonetheless, Singhal who took charge on Saturday as the 25th TTD EO will be at the helm of temple for two years. He conducted a whirl wind inspection covering all the prominent places in Tirumala and also interacted with the pilgrims on Sunday. The road ahead of Singhal is tough, especially the never ending pilgrim-related problems, loss of over 200 crore rupees in the sale of laddus and distribution of funds to the tune of Rs. 125 crore for various projects. Several projects under TTD are not giving the expected results.

Pawan Kalyan congratulates Baahubali team

0

Actor and Jana Sena activist Pawan Kalyan congratulated Baahubali team for the grand success of Baahubali 2. Pawan Kalyan, who usually tweets about social and political issues, took to Twitter on Sunday evening to wish Baahubali team. Pawan posted ‘My Heartfelt congratulations to Shri Rajmouli,Shri Prabhas &team for their stupendous success of. Bahubali and achieving the 1000 crore mark’. It is yet to be known whether Pawan Kalyan watched the film or not.

Baahubali 2 has surpassed a huge milestone on Sunday by becoming the first Indian film to gross 1000 Crores worldwide. The fine storytelling by Rajamouli coupled with the spectacular visual effects and other technical wizardry resulted in an epic masterpiece that is impressing all sections of audience.

It may be recalled that Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad revealed that the stunning interval block in Baahubali 2 was inspired by Pawan Kalyan’s frenzied fan following that is common in most of the filmy events in Tollywood.

Pawan Kalyan gets dramatically fallacious with mirchi figures

0

Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan responded again or let’s say signed a press note and it was merely for the sake of doing it. All the political parties are marching to Khammam Market Yard and Guntur Market Yard, but as always Jana Sena will not march but tweet. Jana Sena’s core principle seems to be compare and complain of BJP’s divide and rule policy. The lack of research in compiling the press note is visible.

To set the context, centre asked the state governments to buy the chilli at market intervention price(MIP) of rupees 5,000 per quintal till May 31 with an overhead charge of rupees 1,250. The State Agencies can procure maximum of 88,300 MTs of Red Chilli in Andhra Pradesh and 33,700 MTs in Telangana under the scheme. In Andhra Pradesh, Chilli production increased from 7.93 lakh MT last year to 9.22 lakh MT this year. In Telangana, against an average of 2 lakh metric tonnes every year, nearly 7 lakh MT of chilli has been produced in 2016-17.

Instead of talking in terms of minimum support price like TDP-TRS or all other parties, Jana Sena demanded the BJP government to treat both the states equally. They demanded 88300MT to be purchased from Telangana also. While Jana Sena was asking centre to understand that there are lakhs of MT of chilli, the numbers shown are evident that Jana Sena needs better research before publishing a note.

The centre said highest quality chilli needs to be procured, what about the low or medium quality chilli? Jana Sena said MSP should be increased but did not say how much? Telangana farmers are not fighting with Andhra farmers but both the farmers are fighting against the governments. Telangana farmers are taking their produce to Guntur Market Yard. Jana Sena should rather come out of it petty-minded thoughts. Instead of raising questions about BJP’s nepotism, it is worth pondering why Pawan Kalyan doesn’t want to “question” Chandrababu or KCR.

Pawan Kalyan has to stand up and take charge

0

Konidela Pawan Kalyan marched against his brother and courageously established Jana Sena, which stiffened the spines of other politicians. But Jana Sena Army is unable to take charge in creating the revolution it projected to do. Nara Lokesh is addressing problems of people on twitter. The rate at which the problems are being acknowledged and solved is faster than the rate at which Jana Sena issues press releases inked by Kalyan. Even YSRCP ensures that it is available for people in some way or the other. It’s high time for Jana Sena to do right things over easy things.

Almost all the political parties in the state are visible and take a stand either by opposing or acknowledging happenings. Kalyan takes forever to decide on which topic he should speak. The pace at which Jana Sena recruitment is happening will surely give competition to government job recruitments process.

The chilli farmers are facing crisis for quite sometime now. Was Hindi Chauvinism more important topic than farmers? Was responding to Tarun Vijay’s comment critical than addressing sand mafia?

It would be better if Kalyan stops sitting on the fence and starts picking sides. It will give a chance for people to evaluate the stance of his party. This neutral outlook in critical situations is not going to help the victims. The ultimate measure of Jana Sena is not where Kalyan chooses to stand but the party’s policies during challenging situations. There is no point in having conversations with Harvard political strategists when the core idea of setting up the party “to question the government” is not being religiously followed.

Even google image search returns his pictures in top five when searched for a part-time politician. The actor keeps snoozing off which is not suitable for a person who aims to be in full-time politics. The last time he was called “part-time politician” he accused TDP leaders of being part-time politicians who are available full-time and more visible. Nara Lokesh resigned on paper to Heritage and responds to almost every incident.

At least hire temporary employees to act on behalf of the party till the recruitment is completed. The ultimate measure of a party is not where it chooses to stand but where it stands during challenges. People will start ignoring a part-timer who makes random statements without being aware of the state’s political developments. In democracy, people are going to rate Kalyan as politician, they might hate him, shake and break his party, but how strong and quickly the Jana Sena Chief reflects back on issues is what makes him a leader.

Pay Rs 11,000 a quintal for chillies, Pawan tells Telugu CMs

0

Vijayawada: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had backed the struggle of the chilli growers in the two Telugu States. In a press statement, Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the steep fall in the prices of chillies from Rs 13,500 a quintal in the last season. He blamed the two Telugu State governments for ignoring the woes of the farmers. He wanted the governments to focus on the farming sectors and protect their interests. He said that the governments were more concerned about mobilising investments from the foreign corporate companies than the problems of the people.

Pawan Kalyan held the agriculture and marketing departments responsible for the crisis. He said that the agriculture department had totally failed to advice the farmers on the extent to be cultivated and the marketing department for ignoring to ensure remunerative prices. He wanted the two departments to work together with the farmers to prevent recurrence of this situation.

Stating that the market price for the chillies in the previous season was Rs 13,500 a quintal, he asked the government to ensure payment of at least Rs 11,000 a quintal this time and help the farmers.

Baahubali 2 interval episode inspired by Pawan’s enviable fan following

0

Pawan Kalyan’s craze in Telugu states needs no special introduction. In many Mega family audio events and other filmy events, the Powerstar sloganeering has become quite common. Well, interestingly Pawan’s cult fan following has inspired Baahubali script writer Vijayendra Prasad to weave the engrossing interval episode in Baahubali 2.

Speaking to a leading Telugu daily, Vijayendra Prasad revealed that it was Pawan’s enviable fan following that has inspired the interval block of Baahubali 2. Vijayendra Prasad said that when he was in a dilemma about the presentation of interval scene in which Bhallaladeva was to be crowned the king of Mahishmati, he came across an audio event in which Pawan Kalyan’s fans raised the ‘Powerstar Powerstar’ slogans despite his absence. This has flattered the ace writer. Inspired by Pawan’s adulation among his followers, Vijayendra Prasad scripted the interval block in Baahubali 2.

In the meantime, Baahubali 2 is unstoppable in all territories. The film has collected 200 Crores gross on its opening day and set for a strong first weekend.

Anam Viveka to join Jana Sena?

0

TDP leader and previously congress hat-trick MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy is apparently going to bid goodbye to the ruling party in AP. Reports surfaced that he would defect into YRSCP. But migration into JanaSena is also on cards. Speculations are that party leaders are already in consultations with Anam Viveka and he may soon meet the party chief Pawan Kalyan.

Ever since the Anam brothers switched sides from congress to TDP, there was a discontent and constant affronts. They were not invited to the party meetings in the district. Recently the Anam brothers even skipped the vital party coordination committee meeting which added fuel to the stories. Buzz in Nellore is that Viveka will defect to JanaSena. Anam sources did not deny these rumors either.

YCP Ongole MP Y V Subbareddy invited the Anam family into the party. They demanded Nellore ticket to be given to AC Subba Reddy for which the YCP seemed reluctant. So, the family is considering going towards JanaSena.

But Pawan Kalyan speeches about party membership seemed otherwise. Jana Sena sounded more like giving opportunities to the newbies. However, if the party is to get ready for snap elections, there can be chances for turncoats in the party.

Last year in January Anam brothers Ramnarayana reddy and Vivekananda Reddy switched to TDP. Naidu promised Athmakuru ticket and MLC ticket to the brothers. But for MLC ticket Viveka’s name was not even considered. Viveka won three times in Nellore when he was in congress. But in 2014 his son Anam Chenchu Subba Reddy contested elections only to lose from Nellore.

Jagan, Pawan go for poll strategists as Naidu hints at early poll

Vijayawada: The early polls indication given by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has become the talk of the State for the past couple of days. The hint dropped by Chandrababu Naidu had alerted the rivals to get ready for the battle. While Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had welcomed the early polls move, YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy is said to be launching consultations with the experts.

Jana Sena chief had held first round of consultations with elections strategist Steve Jarding at Boston during his recent visit to US. Jarding, a lecturer at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harward, played key role in the election strategy for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Though Akhilesh Yadav failed to deliver this time, Jarding did not lose his popularity as he had already hinted at the negative trend that Akhilesh was having this time.

With Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement on early elections, Jana Sena chief had already reacted positively welcoming the decision. He said his party was ready for the elections whenever they come. He had already started recruiting the party leaders as advised by Jarding. He believes that this recruitment would help his party stand strong as the Left parties do with their whole-timers.

Meanwhile, Jaganmohan Reddy, is learned to have started holding consultations with strategist Prashant Kishore on his election strategy. Prashant Kishore is currently the adviser to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2015 elections. He also worked for Narendra Modi in the 2014 elections. While Kishore is contemplating on joining the Congress party this time, it is said that Jaganmohan Reddy wants the strategist to help his party in the State.

While the two leaders are getting ready with the renowned political strategists, Machiavellian politician he is, Chandrababu Naidu has his own ways to lead his party to victory. Unlike the other two leaders, Naidu does not require any strategist to face the elections and he is marching ahead on his plans for early polls.

Mega – Nandamuri Box Office bout for Dussehra confirmed

Earlier this year, Tollywood box office saw one of the biggest clashes in recent times when both Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna locked horns with their landmark films, Khaidi No 150 and GPSK. Chiranjeevi convincingly won the battle as Khaidi No 150 raked better figures than GPSK.

Yet again, one more Mega – Nandamuri clash will happen this year. This time it will be Pawan Kalyan who is going to challenge Balakrishna. Pawan is currently busy shooting for Trivikram’s upcoming film. The regular shooting is progressing at jet speed and the makers have decided to release the film for Dussehra. Reliable sources say that the film will release in the third week of September as a Dussehra treat for audience .

Also, Balakrishna’s under shoot action drama in Puri Jagannadh’s direction has already reserved a day during Dussehra for grand release. Puri is confident that the shooting formalities will be wrapped up well ahead of September and has confirmed that the film will release for Dussehra.

Both these biggies will release in a span of few days. The official release dates will be out soon. It would be interesting to see who will emerge as Dussehra winner.

Pawan Kalyan welcomes Babu’s plans for early polls

Vijayawada: In a swift move, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had welcomed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s indications on early elections. Reacting to the reports of Chandrababu Naidu’s hint to his party leaders to get ready for the early elections, the Jana Sena chief said his party is ready for the battle even if it is advanced further.

Pawan Kalyan who had begun recruitment of candidates for the party important posts said he would gear up his party for the elections. Pawan Kalyan had already announced that he is out of the NDA, but did not clear whether he would align with the TDP or the Left parties. Though he is soft towards the TDP, he is practically aligning with the Left parties, particularly with the CPI. He is firm on the issues like Special Category Status to the State. He went to the extent of openly criticising the BJP leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for going back on the promise of Special Category Status to the State.

The Jana Sena chief, though did not contest the 2014 elections, had shared the dais with Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu starting from Tirupati where the leaders promised Special Category Status to the State. As chief of Jana Sena, he had promised to the people that he would stand guarantee to the assurances given by the BJP and TDP. Now, with the BJP going back on the promise of Special Category Status and TDP compromising for the special package, it is to be seen whether the Jana Sena chief would align with these parties or stay away from them.

AP govt moves forward on land pooling, farmers look for muted Pawan

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government had made one step forward to take the lands of the farmers who have not given their lands in land pooling system to the government for the new capital. The government had issued land acquisition notification last week, notifying the lands of Undavalli and Penumaka villages that have been refusing to give land to the government for capital. The government had issued the notification under Clauses 1 (1), (B) under the Andhra Pradesh Land Acquisition, Relief and Rehabilitation Rules 2014.

While the government had notified 29 villages of Thulluru, Tadepalli and Mangalagiri mandals for the capital – Amaravati – and took up the land pooling system to collect the lands from farmers, the villages under Tadepalli and Mangalagiri have been resisting the pooling system. They have put up banners in Undavalli and Penumaka villages of Tadepalli mandal, Yerrupalem and Bethapudi of Mangalagiri mandal refusing to give their lands. Several of them have approached the courts against land pooling, while some of them have not given the required papers accepting the land pooling system. It was in these villages, Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan have toured in 2016 in support of the farmers. While Jaganmohan Reddy had promised to return their lands if they wanted once he came to power, Pawan Kalyan advised the government not to use force to take the lands. He had even asked the government not to issue land acquisition notification. Now that the government had issued the notification, the farmers are looking towards Pawan Kalyan to save their lands.

“Pawan Kalyan had promised to stand by us and he had promised to fight for us if the government issued land acquisition notification. Now, the government had issued the notification. We have sent a representation to the Jana Sena chief and waiting for him to react,” said Penumaka farmers’ leader Naresh Reddy. A team of farmers have also approached Pawan Kalyan seeking his intervention to save their lands.

The government can’t move even a inch forward in developing the new capital, Amaravati, if it failed to take lands in Undavalli and Penumaka, the mouth of the capital. It is by passing through these villages, one can reach Amaravati and it required lands to lay roads and bridges. The proposed six-lane Seed Access Road from Kanakadurga Varadhi (Chennai-Kolkata national highway) to Thulluru would require lands in Undavalli and Penumaka which are not given yet to the government. If these lands are not taken, the government cannot lay the road from Vijayawada to reach the new capital zone. The government would have to take a new route from Mangalagiri to the core capital area passing through Kuragallu, Neerukonda and Inavolu. The existing flood bank passing along the river from Prakasam Barrage is another option for the government if it cannot get the lands of Undavalli and Penumaka villages. The flood bank (karakatta) can be expanded and used as access road to the capital from Vijayawada through Prakasam Barrage. However, as Prakasam Barrage requires to be closed once in a year for maintenance of the gates, the government would have to use an alternative and permanent road from Kanakadurga Varadhi. This too has a big problem as the farmers of Tadepalli through which the road has to be formed, are opposed to the land acquisition. Caught in a critical situation like this, the government had issued the notification to acquire 680 acres of land in Penumaka village.

Farmers’ leader Naresh Reddy expressed confidence that Pawan Kalyan would come to their rescue and save them from the forcible acquisition of their lands. It is to be seen how Pawan Kalyan would react to the request from the farmers to whom he had promised to stand by.

A hat-trick of disasters : Mega heroes disappoint trade big-time

It is turning out to be a embarrassing season for Mega fans as their heroes delivered a hat-trick of disasters in the last couple of months.

2017 started off in style for Mega family as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 emerged as the biggest Sankranthi grosser ever. But, since then it has been a disastrous year for Mega heroes.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Winner, which released in February, bombed at the box office and ended as the biggest disaster in Sai’s career. The film failed to recover investments in all territories.

Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu which released last month with heavy expectations, too, ended as a loss venture in many areas. Despite raking strong revenues in the first week, the film was termed as a disaster by distributors as it failed to break even in major areas.

Continuing the Mega flop saga, Varun Tej’s latest offering Mister is also heading towards becoming a disaster. The film’s collections are very miserable in both the Telugu states and it is likely to end as one of the biggest flops of all time.

All in all, barring Khaidi No 150, the rest of Mega films disappointed the trade circles big-time so far in 2017. Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham and Ram Charan’s next film are scheduled for release in the second half of this year. We have to wait and see if these two films can bring some cheer to both fans and trade circles.

Pawan Kalyan urges southern parties to unitedly fight bias

Leading Telugu actor and Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday urged all south Indian political parties to join hands and fight what he said was the biased attitude of north Indian leadership.

He launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its former MP Tarun Vijay’s remarks about the skin colour of south Indians.

In a series of tweets, the actor-politician said the parties of south India should come on a common platform to get a better deal from the central government for their respective states and to fight the bias towards the region.

He agreed with CPI leader K. Narayana’s statement that in Tarun Vijay’s remarks, he saw a BJP agenda to bring about a south-north divide.

“Tarun Vijay’s demeaning racial remarks towards south Indians is a fine example of how the snobbish north Indian elites and political classes view our ‘Dravida Bharatha’ and its people,” he tweeted.

“To BJP leadership and to Tarun Vijay: We are in ‘Down South’ and we are foundation of this Nation, not your ‘Up North’ political leadership foot stand.”

Pawan also slammed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), saying it had no right to compromise on the promised special category status with the Centre as the people of Andhra Pradesh brought TDP and BJP into power, trusting they would accord special category status to the state.

He urged the TDP not to mortgage the self-respect of the people of Andhra Pradesh for personal benefits.

The actor tweeted that it was quite disheartening to see central minister and TDP leader Ashok Gajapati Raju’s silence and absence of TDP MPs in Parliament when the discussion on special status to Andhra Pradesh came up.

“I think TDP MPs have forgotten the insult of their MPs getting beaten by North MPs in the parliament during the state bifurcation,” he remarked.

“Attitude of our political class (in Delhi). You put us down by our skin colour, we are ok, you mock at us by speaking in our Dravida tongue, we are ok; in Parliament you kick us, abuse us and divide us, we are ok. And we are ok to be slavish and subservient at the cost of our people’s self-respect as long as you do not deny us our contracts, business opportunities, bailing us out from our scams and wrongdoings.”

Pawan praised Yuvajana, Shramika, Rythu (YSR) Congress Party, saying its MPs were doing a commendable job in pursuing the special status issue with the Centre.

The actor, who campaigned for BJP-TDP alliance in the 2014 election, last year distanced himself from the coalition after the Centre refused to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh. He had since been targeting both the parties.

Last month, he announced that Jana Sena will contest 2019 the elections in both the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Pawan Kalyan backtracks on Special Category Status protests

The less men think, the more they talk. Especially when one is sitting in a luxurious room this hot summer and whenever possible following politics is bound to access social media and tweet about it. Wise men speak because they have something to say and then we have Pawan Kalyan who speaks because he has to say something.

In fact, media critiqued the leaders of congress and YCP for raising SCS issue as there is no strategy and it is a “closed chapter” as per the ruling party. When the state was united to fight for the cause of SCS in January, Kalyan did not come forward to lead it but continued to tweet. Now that people seemed to have accepted it, he is seen congratulating YCP and TS Congress leaders for supporting.

Anyone who speaks for SCS will get Kalyan’s support. After the special category protest, in the press meet, he said that Jana Sena will soon start protesting for SCS. It is apparent that he is influenced by the ruling party, who seem to back track on their words. After the press meet in January, the Jana Sena chief took up various issues and side tracked this issue. Never again he spoke about protesting for SCS. If the actor is serious about it, he wouldn’t find reasons like in February groups exams, in March tenth exams, in April Eamcet exams etc. If protesting on twitter will get SCS, then the state would have got status in the republic day week itself.

Jana Sena chief said that the TDP MPs forgot the insults they faced during the state bifurcation. What about the students who were beaten up during January26? Isn’t it an insult to the youth who hoped that this would trigger agitation? The actor who takes tweet-holidays, is portraying himself like Chandrababu Naidu, who out of nowhere speaks about bifurcation just to remind people of the injustice meted out by Congress and keep them in sync with TDP. In fact, following Naidu’s guidance, even Kalyan ensures to remind people of the bifurcation.

He even questioned if the central government would ever divide Uttar Pradesh. I think the actor-turned-politician may want to find out how Uttarakhand was formed before tweeting. It was carved out from UP and was created by NDA led BJP under leadership of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It’s high time for Kalyan and all other leaders to stop talking and start taking action, to stop promising and start proving.

Katamarayudu hits 50 Cr; Pawan hits unique record

Katamarayudu boxoffice, Katamarayudu collections

Pawan Kalyan’s latest release ‘Katamarayudu’, which suffered huge dip on the 4th and 5th day (weekdays), posted impressive numbers on the 6th day, thanks to Ugadi festival.

After raking in around Rs 43Cr+ in the first weekend and another Rs 4 Cr in the next two week days, Katamarayudu has collected a distributor share of Rs 4 Cr on the Ugadi festival day. With this, 6 days worldwide share reached to approx. Rs 52 Cr.

Breaching into Rs 50 Cr club is no more a milestone for Tollywood stars, especially Pawan Kalyan. However, Katamarayudu has helped Pawan become the only star with four films having Rs 50Cr+ share (Gabbar Singh, Attarintiki Daredi, Sardaar and Katamarayudu). Mahesh Babu (Dookudu, SVSC and Srimanthudu) and Allu Arjun (Race Gurram, S/o Satyamurthy and Sarrainodu) are jointly second with three films each to their names.

These records don’t matter much as the Pawan starrer action entertainer is expected to end its theatrical run leaving holes worth Rs 20-25 Cr in the pockets of buyers, as per trade analysts. The worldwide theatrical rights were valued at Rs 85 Cr but as per the current trend, Katamarayudu may wind up with Rs 60-65 Cr share, unless a miracle happens.

As the holidays have just begun in the Telugu states, Katamarayudu is expected to take advantage of them and have a decent run for another week at least. Venkatesh’s ‘Guru’, slated for March 31 release, is the only notable film that has dared to take on Pawan-Shruti Haasan starrer.

We need to wait and see how far Pawan’s charisma help Katamarayudu sustain at box office. Meanwhile, the pressure on Trivikram will be huge in the wake of disappointments like Sardaar and Katamarayudu.
