Shah to meet Oscar winning Naatu Naatu team in Hyderabad

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet Oscar award winning team of Naatu Naatu song in Hyderabad on Sunday.

During his brief visit to Telangana, he will meet the artists associated with the award winning song from S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR over high tea at Novotel Hotel near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Rajamouli, Music director M.M. Keeravani, lyricist Chandrabose, singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, choreographer Prem Rakshith, actors Junior NTR and Ram Charan are likely to be present during the meeting.

Last month, Naatu Naatu bagged the Oscar for Best Original Song to become the first Indian and Asian song to receive the coveted award.

After returning to India, Ram Charan along with his father Chiranjeevi had met Amit Shah in Delhi.

In August last year, Amit Shah had met Junior NTR at Novotel Hotel near Hyderabad Airport. The Union Minister has reportedly requested the meeting after he liked the actor’s performance in RRR.

The BJP leader is scheduled to meet the RRR team soon after landing at Rajiv Gandhi Airport around 4 p.m. He will then leave for Chevella near Hyderabad by road as part of Parliament Pravas Yojana.

Amit Shah will address a public meeting at Chevella the same evening. The BJP is making large scale arrangements for the meeting, seen as a part of the party’s preparations for Assembly elections in Telangana scheduled later this year.

Meanwhile, party’s state leadership is busy making a list of leaders from other parties who will be joining BJP in the presence of Amit Shah at Chevella meeting.

Former minister Jupally Krishna Rao and former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy are likely to join BJP. They were recently suspended from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for anti-party activities.

The BJP is looking to woo many leaders from BRS and Congress to its ranks to consolidate itself in the run-up to the polls. Last week, AICC programmes implementation committee chairman Alleti Maheshwar Reddy joined the BJP.

Amit Shah’s visit to Hyderabad comes close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. During his visit on April 8, the Prime Minister had launched several developmental projects and also addressed a public meeting.

Upbeat after Modi’s visit, the state leadership of the party is drawing plans to invite him and Amit Shah to the state every month.

RRR Producer responds about huge spending for Oscars

1

There is an ongoing debate that SS Rajamouli has spent close to Rs 80 crores for the Oscar campaign for his recent release RRR. The reports told that Rajamouli spent a huge amount from his pocket and the producer DVV Danayya has nothing to do with it. Danayya was also never spotted on the Oscar stage or the celebrations after Naatu Naatu song bagged an Oscar. For the first time, Danayya responded after the Oscar campaign came to an end.

“I also heard about the money spent for the Oscar campaign. I haven’t spent any money for the campaign and I am not aware of what happened exactly. But no one spends Rs 80 crores for an award event. There would be no profits involved in it” told Danayya. He also revealed that it is his long wish to produce a film with Pawan Kalyan and he said that the shoot starts soon. Sujeeth is the director and Pawan Kalyan will commence the shoot of this film soon. The film would be a stylish action entertainer.

The goal is to be recognised on a global platform: Ram Charan says of ‘RRR’ journey

1

With the Oscar Awards night inching closer, the expectations around ‘RRR’ are on the rise. Actor Ram Charan who is in the US summed up his thoughts on the ‘RRR’ journey to Sam Fragoso of the ‘Talk Easy’ show in Los Angeles.

“RRR is a platform where this journey is going to come. It’s a way of achieving what all the hardworking directors and people in the movie industry in India wanted to see for the last 85 years. The final goal is to be recognised on a world platform.

On the historic Oscar nomination for the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from ‘RRR’, Ram Charan said, “It is emotional for all of us. It is emotional for my dad who is waiting there. Before taking my flight, he was so sentimental that I was coming here. In 154 films he has done and 42 years he has been working, he has been to the Oscars in the 80s and that too for an appearance, and that also he felt was a huge achievement.

“But today we have been nominated and in the list, and now waiting. He told me the value for it as younger actors, we don’t know the value of this so early in our career but he knows the value and I truly believe, that we are praying for this for everyone in India too, not just actors but it’s like India winning an Olympic gold medal, I do not run but I know the feeling when my Indian sportsperson holds that medal, The Oscars is like an Olympic Gold medal equivalent for us.”

Ram opened up to Fragoso on various aspects of his life. From the Ayyappa deeksha which he has been observing religiously for the last 15 years to his upbringing in a filmi household under the watchful eyes of his father and Tollywood superstar Chiranjeevi.

“He thought it was very glamorous, tempting as an industry and he wanted us to be as normal as possible, he did not want us to know that we had a superstar father and to take it for granted that it would all come easy for us. Whatever he did was right as till today, I am able to pay my EMIs and keep it going and I am doing well because of his upbringing and the way he was.”

Hollywood Critics Association clarifies on NTR’s absence at the Awards function

0

It is known news that RRR movie bagged awards at Hollywood Critics Association in the categories of best international film and 4 other categories. While Telugu movie bagging awards at such a prestigious association was appreciated by many, NTR fans were in a disappointed mood because of the absence of their favourite actor. Now HCA itself clarified on this issue. Details as follows.

హాలీవుడ్ క్రిటిక్స్ అసోసియేషన్ అవార్డ్స్‌లో RRR హవా, రామ్ చరణ్ మెరుపులు

NTR was conspicuous by his absence at the prestigious Hollywood awards function. The disappointed fans started criticising HCA and blamed that HCA didn’t invite NTR and that’s the reason he didn’t attend the event. However HCA clarified in a tweet that “ Dear RRR fans & supporters, We did invite N. T. Rama Rao Jr. to attend the #HCAFilmAwards but he is shooting a new film in India. He will be receiving his awards from us shortly. Thank you for all your love and support. “

This tweet seemed to have pacified the fans of NTR to some extent. However many others commented on the issue that – It’s silly to go through this rubbish, from both sides and hopefully we all can focus on the global success of RRR, instead of petty fan wars.

‘Extraordinary to look at and experience’: Spielberg makes Rajamouli’s day

0

It’s safe to say Steven Spielberg is an ‘RRR’ fan, reports Naman Ramachandran of ‘Variety’ after watching a Zoom conversation between the auteur and S.S. Rajamouli, the helmer of the film that has got the world dancing to the beat of ‘Naatu Naatu’.

Spielberg, whose latest, ‘The Fabelmans’, is in the race for seven Oscars, praised ‘RRR’ as “eye candy” and promised to return to India, where he last filmed ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ in 1976, for one of his upcoming projects.

The two men, who had a brief encounter at a Golden Globes cocktail party in Los Angeles in January, caught up over a Zoom call on Thursday (U.S. Pacific Time), according to ‘Variety’. The conversation was facilitated by Reliance Entertainment, a long-term partner of Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, which co-produced and released ‘The Fabelmans’ theatrically across India on February 10.

“I thought your movie was outstanding … it was just amazing,” Spielberg said. “I couldn’t believe my eyes — it was like eye candy … it was extraordinary to look at and experience.”

Rajamouli, according to ‘Variety, was elated with the praise, saying: “I can almost get up from the chair and do a dance — it means a lot to me.”

Spielberg also praised the performances of ‘RRR’ leads Ram Charan, NTR Jr, Alia Bhatt and antagonist Alison Doody, who played the British governor’s evil wife, and had acted in his film ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ (1989).

Rajamouli, who is a massive fan of Spielberg in general and ‘The Fabelmans’ in particular, asked Spielberg a series of questions about the motivations behind making the film and about portraying a version of his own family on screen.

“As I was watching the film, initially [it] felt like ‘Oh my God’, he’s picturising his own mom as not so good. I was empathising with the father,” Rajamouli said, according to ‘Variety’. “But as we progress, we understand the difficulty of the situation — no one is bad. It is not about a person being good or bad. It’s about following your heart and following your duty.”

Spielberg responded by noting: “There are no villains in the story. It’s a story about love. It’s a story about a young boy, much like myself, named Sammy Fabelman, who falls in love with movie cameras and making movies with his neighbourhood friends, which eventually is going to lead him to a career.”

He added: “And it’s about following your heart and not sacrificing yourself and your own happiness and your own future, to make others around you safe and comfortable.”

Talking about his mother, Spielberg said, according to Variety: “My mom took life into her own hands. And she had a huge, beautiful personality. But she was always very honest about what she needed, and what she wanted from this life. And she took it for herself. But she still brought all of us along with her. We never felt abandoned by the choices that she was making.”

Spielberg, adds ‘Variety’, stressed the importance of the family unit and explained how he passed on the first Harry Potter film in order to spend time with them.

To which Rajamouli said: “Luckily for me, I keep my whole family in the film business, my wife, my son, my brother, my brother’s wife — everyone is with me making movies, so I don’t miss my family.”

Spielberg did not rule out a sequel to ‘The Fabelmans’, but said there were no immediate plans for it.

Final Cut: 6 Indian films on Oscars ‘reminder list’ of 301 ‘eligible productions’

0

Six Indian feature films — the much-favoured ‘RRR’, India’s official entry ‘The Last Film Show’ (‘Chhello Show’), the sleeper hit ‘Kantara’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Gangubai Kathiyawadi’ and ‘Me Vasantrao’, the Marathi-language biopic on classical singer Vasantrao Deshpande — are on the list of 301 movies that are eligible for the 95th Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the list on Monday (U.S. Pacific Time). It includes presumed contenders such as ‘Elvis’, ‘The Fabelmans’ and ‘Living’. The number of movies marks an increase from last year’s 276 films that were eligible from 2021, and down from 366 in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, reports ‘Variety’.

All these expected contenders are listed on the Academy’s annual Reminder List of Productions Eligible for the 95th Academy Awards, including the performers eligible for consideration in the acting categories.

The highest-grossing movies of the year, including ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ are on the robust list, while critically acclaimed features such as ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and ‘Tar’ are also in the mix.

The streamers, ‘Variety’ continues, are well-represented with Netflix’s ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ and ‘Glass Onion’, Amazon’s ‘Argentina, 1985’ and ‘Thirteen Lives’ and Apple’s ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’ and ‘Emancipation’.

There’s also a good number of international features, even if they’re not their country’s official submission, such as ‘RRR’ and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Korean drama ‘Broker’.

There is also a solid showing for women-directed vehicles such as Gina Prince-Bythewood’s ‘The Woman King’, Charlotte Wells’s ‘Aftersun’ and Sarah Polley’s ‘Women Talking’.

Not on the list is Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Showing Up’. ‘Variety’ notes that though it debuted at Cannes, A24, its makers, opted for a 2023 release. Despite being released theatrically in April, and receiving solid reviews, Mayim Bialik’s directorial debut ‘As They Made Us’ from Quiver also wasn’t among the 301 movies.

The Academy’s 9,579 eligible voting members will begin filling out their ballots on Thursday, January 12, at 9:00 a.m. (U.S. Pacific Time) and ballots will close on Tuesday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m.

The official Oscar nominations will be announced January 24, with the ceremony airing live on the American TV network ABC on March 12 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
