‘Sarkar’ controversies are still continuing and now it has become Vijay fans vs AIADMK leaders in Tamil Nadu. The latest development is that several of Vijay fans thrash away and burn freebies like laptops, mixers and grinders given by AIADMK government during elections.

There is a scene in the film that shows burning of freebies, like mixies, grinders and fans, which were distributed by political party. This scene was indirectly referring Jayalalitha’s scheme and so AIADMK leaders objected showing this scene as they felt it an insult to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. After the objection from AIADMK govt, Sun Pictures, producers of the movie, agreed to chop-off the scenes of the film. However, government forcing makers to chop-off scenes didnt go well with Vijay fans and they started thrashing and burning freebies and posted the vides of same in social media. These videos, that have now gone viral on YouTube and WhatsApp, fans of Vijay are seen setting fire to mixies and grinders with stickers of the late AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa.

However, people’s response for Vijay fans acts is mixed. Some people commented, “Funny to watch such videos but very sad to see TN state is filled with fools to be influenced by actors with vested interests”. But some others see it as positive development because people will slowly start opposing freebies by political parties.

The latest outing of AR Murugadoss titled Sarkar created a stir across the political circles of Tamil Nadu. AIADMK leaders objected some of the episodes which created a ruckus across the party supporters. Last night Tamil Nadu cops went to the residence of AR Murugadoss but returned back after the top director was not available. Though the cops denied the news, AR Murugadoss took twitter to reveal the arrest. Soon several celebrities came out to support AR Murugadoss.

Now the top director moved to Madras High Court requesting for anticipatory bail following the Sarkar controversy row. The court will hear the matter today and their decision is expected before evening. Several AIADMK supporters say that some of the episodes criticize Tamil Nadu Ex-Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi played lead roles in Sarkar that is produced by Sun Pictures.

Nearly a year after the demise of 44-year-old anti-freebie crusader-advocate S. Subramaniam Balaji, Tamil movie “Sarkar” has stirred a controversy over the freebie schemes of the state government.

The ruling AIADMK was angry at the Vijay starrer for criticsing their schemes. Its cadres protested against “Sarkar” outside theatres in Coimbatore, Chennai and Madurai.

The credit for this anti-freebies crusade though goes to the late Balaji who died on November 2017, couple of months after meeting with a road accident and suffering head injuries.

Balaji fought against the freebie schemes of the DMK and the AIADMK governments going up to the Supreme Court.

The apex court in 2013, while not banning freebie schemes, had ordered the Election Commission to frame guidelines for political parties to announce freebies in their election manifestoes.

Balaji had strongly felt a golden opportunity was lost to reign in political parties from creating private assets out of public money to be in power.

The top court had observed that promising freebies in the election manifesto doesn’t amount to corrupt practice under Section 123 of the Representation of Peoples Act, while ordering the Election Commission to frame guidelines for political parties.

The court gave the ruling after Balaji filed the case against the distribution of free colour television sets by the DMK to the people as part of its pre-election promise in 2006.

In an attempt to outdo DMK, the AIADMK then under late J. Jayalalithaa promised mixers, grinders, fans and laptops and other freebies during 2011 assembly polls.

Cheap rice, free TV, free power, free stove, cash dole promises by political parties is nothing but “bribery”, Balaji had contended.

So, it is neither Vijay nor “Sarkar” director A.R. Murugadoss who could be termed as anti-freebie fighters but the young crusader Balaji.

A government cannot enrich private individuals out of consolidated funds. Giving free land or free TVs or monthly cash doles are precisely that, Balaji had said.

Hailing from a family of lawyers, Balaji’s father N. Sivasankaran is a High Court lawyer, his elder sister Mahalakshmi Ramaswamy is a lawyer, too.

Vijay’s Sarkar movie that got released 2 days back received poor reviews from critics in Telugu as well as in Tamil. But the controversies and the trends it creating generating curiosity among common audience. Already there is a controversy as AIADMK leaders alleging that Sarkar movie insulted Jayalalitha and her schemes that generated curiosity among people. Now there is one more news about Sarkar.

Sun Pictures, the producer of the movie, shared the statistical report and tweeted through it’s official handle, “Google search trends peak for #49P after the release of #Sarkar. Actually, Sarkar film revolves around section 49 P, an important election law, that allows a person to have the right to get back his/her ballot back and vote, if in case, someone voted in that person’s name. Sarkar discusses about this law elaborately in the movie as the core point of the movie is a powerful CEO coming to know about someone else utilizing his vote illegally.

After the release of ‘Sarkar’ movie, people have started to Google search for section 49P to know more about it. As a result, this section 49P attained a peak on Google search engine. Probably, as a maker, this must be happiest thing for Murugadoss irrespective of box-office numbers

Vijay’s latest movie Sarkar landed into controversies. The movie severely criticized the freebies given by the governments to people and has references to freebies provided by AIADMK government. Another controversy is the movie indirectly referred Jayalalitha and shown her in bad light.

Tamil Nadu State Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C Raju has warned Sarkar team to remove some controversial scenes from the movie. Thse are scenes that show people throwing away freebies provided by the Tamil Nadu government. Director AR Murugadoss himself makes a cameo appearance in the movie and throws the State-provided mixer grinders and wet grinders into the fire. Now these scenes creating tremors in the state of Tamil Nadu. Kadambur C Raju said the government would take necessary steps to chop the scenes if the makers don’t remove them voluntarily. Minister also added, “This is not good for an upcoming actor like Vijay. I know people won’t accept these scenes. It was brought to our knowledge and this was disappointing.”

All Vijay’s movies in recent times have been landing into troubles as he is showing up his political ambitions in his movies. Vijay’s previous movie, Mersal had similar controversies as it had dialogues on GST and demonetization. Mersal got severe criticism from BJP’s Tamil Nadu President Tamilisai Soundararajan but that actually helped Mersal getting more collections. Now Sarkar getting oposition from AIADMK. We will have to wait and see if this also helps Sarkar collections in Tamil Nadu.

Top director AR Murugadoss faced copy right allegations in the past and he has been challenged by a young writer Varun Rajendran recently alleging that Sarkar has been inspired from his script Sengol. He filed a petition in Madras High Court and Murugadoss slammed Varun Rajendran with a strong reply calling them cheap tricks and foolish attempts for fame.

The latest update says that the film’s director AR Murugadoss and the makers Sun Pictures reached a compromise with the writer Varun Rajendran and the issue has been resolved. Madras High Court has been informed about this today morning and Sarkar will release as per the plan on November 6th all over. Vijay, Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar played the lead roles in Sarkar that is produced by Sun Pictures.

AR Murugadoss directed this high voltage action thriller and the film is gearing up for a wide release across the globe in Telugu and Tamil on November 6th. The film is expected to release in 80 countries across the globe in five continents which is highest for a South Indian film. There are talks that the film will release in over 1200 screens internationally which is a record for a Tamil film.

Sarkar will mark the biggest release for Vijay across the Telugu states, Karnataka and Kerala. Almost 80% of the Tamil theatres and multiplexes will be screening Sarkar on its release day. Several fans shows are planned across Tamil Nadu and round the clock shows are planned across Tamil Nadu, Kerala. Vijay is in plans to smash all the records of his previous films with Sarkar.
