US BO : SyeRaa falls short of trade expectations on premiers day

2

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s tentpole film SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy has underperformed in North America on premiers day as it failed to surpass recent Telugu biggie Saaho despite creating a huge buzz. Trade circles expected SyeRaa to rake in more than a million dollars because of the strong pre-sales and terrific buzz among overseas audience. However, the Surender Reddy directional just managed to garner $ 857K from its Tuesday premiers.

SyeRaa is now the seventh biggest opener in North America and also Chiranjeevi’s second-best after Khaidi No 150 which had collected $ 1.3M on its premiers day. SyeRaa film failed to breach the collections of Spyder and Saaho which stood in fifth and sixth places after Baahubali 2, Agnyathavaasi and Baahubali. None of the recent Telugu films managed to see profits in USA. SyeRaa got good ratings and encouraging word of mouth from audience. It all depends on how the film performs from here on till the first weekend.

Ram Charan’s lavish production values blended with Surrender Teddy’s adrenaline-pumping war episodes and Chiru’s standout performance are the biggest assets for the film.

AP Government wantedly delaying permissions for Syeraa

0

Though the Telangana government rejected special premieres for any big Telugu film in recent times, AP Government has been granting permissions for extra shows and special premieres along with ticket hikes for big-budget films. Now, the makers of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s big-budget outing Syeraa requested permissions for special shows in the state and the government of Andhra Pradesh seems to have been wantedly delaying to issue the permissions.

The film’s producer Ram Charan already recorded an exclusive interview for Sakshi TV recently. The AP Government is busy with political games and delayed all the formalities. Earlier, Prabhas starrer Saaho received all the needed permissions and TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy was the man behind these permissions approved. The makers of Syeraa are yet to receive an update and the buyers, exhibitors are puzzled about the midnight shows and ticket hikes. Mega fans are worried if AP Government grants permissions or if the special shows would get canceled.

Syeraa directed by Surendar Reddy is releasing tomorrow in a record number of screens in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam languages.

Right after Allu Arjun was absent for the pre-release event of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s magnum opus Syeraa, there are strong speculations about the rift between Ram Charan and Allu Arjun. Megastar opens up about Syeraa Controversy

0

Tollywood audience and Mega fans are left puzzled after a bunch of family members from Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy’s family protested before Ram Charan’s office demanding huge money for the rights of the film. Telangana High Court clarified that they could not halt the film’s release and it asked the makers to go ahead. For the first time, Megastar Chiranjeevi opened up about the controversy.

“The descendants of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy are very innocent and they never demanded any compensation for the rights. They are completely misguided by someone. Demanding Rs 50 crores is something unusual” said Megastar during the promotions of Syeraa. He even clarified that there was no agreement made between them and the family of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy. He reminded about Supreme Court’s decision of making a biopic of any personality that is over 100 years old and the legal heirs need not be paid.

Syeraa directed by Surendar Reddy is hitting the screens on October 2nd. Konidela Production Company bankrolled the film. Nayanthara is the leading lady and Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka, Jagapathi Babu, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Kicha Sudeep played other crucial roles in Syeraa.

SyeRaa in USA : Decent start, but million dollar mark is touch and go

0

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s SyeRaa, based on the unsung freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited film of the season. The massive hype and hysteria surrounding the film are going to ensure a thumping start at the box office on its opening day. While the domestic openings are likely to be mind-boggling, the overseas premiers are set for a decent start.

As per the latest trends, SyeRaa pre sales are close to $ 265K till now which is a good number. But, the footfalls should considerably increase on premiers day to make it a strong start. Trade circles are predicting a $ 700K – $ 800K start from premiers at this pace and million dollar mark will be touch and go if the film manages to garner hit talk from afternoon shows.

Chiranjeevi’s previous film Khaidi No 150 had a record breaking start at US box office with close to $ 1.5M from premiers. So trade circles are expecting a solid start for SyeRaa as craze in audience has reached a new high after the breathtaking teasers and trailers were unveiled by the makers. Directed by Surender Reddy, SyeRaa is produced by Ram Charan on Konidela Productions banner.

Reasons why Charan and his team are unable to sort the issue with Uyyalavada Family

0

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s dream project Syeraa is getting ready for release and is the life story of freedom fighter Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy. With just a week before release, the film landed into legal troubles. The issue between Ram Charan and Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy family members knocked the court doors and there are several speculations about the issue. Everyone had their own perspective on the issue. Telugu360 managed to dig out the facts and here we are with the real reasons why the issue could not be sorted outside the court.

The number of family members representing Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy is close to 400. Close to 30-40 family members met Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and requested them to make a film that could narrate the achievements of the freedom fighter and make them proud. They requested no compensation for the rights and they wished to be the loyal successors of Uyyalavada’s family

Some of them from the rest are not happy with this decision and they made noise in Hyderabad demanding Rs 50 crores for the rights.

Megastar and Ram Charan felt that Rs 50 crores is a huge amount as they lavishly spent for the film. They are even left puzzled about sharing some profits but they could not find the right family member who could sort out the issue and unite the entire relatives of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy.

With a bunch of groups protesting, Charan had to stay calm and go ahead with the post-production work of Syeraa.

Doravari Dastagiri Reddy, the fourth-generation heir of Uyyalavada filed a petition in the Telangana High Court and the court will reveal their decision on Monday.

Syeraa is carrying massive expectations and the film is gearing up for a wide release on October 2nd.

Can Aamir and Salman’s tweets add mileage for Syeraa in Bollywood?

0

Though the trailer of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Syeraa is a huge hit down South, it failed to make enough noise across the North Indian circles. After the Bollywood audience watched a bunch of films on Indian independence, they did not get excited much with the trailer of Syeraa. Bollywood Superstars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan reacted and they wished the entire team a massive success. This surely helped the trailer a bit.

Syeraa will clash with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War on October 2nd. The trailer of War already heaped up the expectations and obviously the film is the first choice for Bollywood film lovers. Though Megastar and his team are quite confident on the film’s success, they are worried about the opening occupancies across the North Indian belt.

The team is in plans to promote the film widely across the North Indian circles and Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth are expected to grace some of the events which may help the film to some extent. Syeraa performance solely depends on the film’s content as of now. We have to wait till October 2nd to see how the film performs across the non-Telugu belts. The film is directed by Surendar Reddy and is produced by Ram Charan.

Syeraa creates a new record with Satellite Rights

0

Thanks to the streaming rights and satellite deals, the Indian film producers have been earning huge. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s next big budget magnum opus Syeraa digital rights (all languages) have been sold to Amazon Prime for a record price of Rs 40 crores. Now the makers closed the satellite deals of Syeraa. Zee Network paid a whopping amount of Rs 125 crores for the satellite rights of Syeraa for all the languages.

This is a record deal for any South Indian film. Earlier, Rajinikanth’s 2.0 satellite rights were sold for Rs 110 crores. All eyes are now focused on the trailer of Syeraa which will be released tomorrow in all the languages. The trailer will be screened across selected theatres across AP and Telangana. Surendar Reddy directed Syeraa and Ram Charan’s Konidela Production Company bankrolled the film. Syeraa releases on October 2nd.

Vijay Devarakonda keenly waiting for the result of Syeraa

0

Young hero Vijay Devarkonda is trying to expand his footprint as he is trying to set a Bollywood project for himself right now. He has almost three films in the pipeline to wrap up, so Bollywood dream has to wait a little longer. But the talented actor is making his debut as a producer meanwhile.

‘Meeku Maathrame Chepta’ is the first-ever production venture of Vijay Devarakonda, which has newcomer director Shammer Sultan at the helm. Talented director Tarun Bhaskar of Pellichoopulu fame turned hero with this film, while the likes of Anasuya are playing other important roles.

We hear that Vijay is waiting for the release of Sye Raa and how the result will be like. If the October 2nd releasing magnum opus scores a bit hit, then the hero wants Meeku Maathrame Chepta to hit cinemas three weeks later, in the last week of October. But if Sye Raa goes for a toss, then he might rush to theatres the very next week.

With no other films locking their dates for October yet, Vijay is eagerly looking forward if he gets a chance to cash on Dasara holidays or he has to go to theatres after the vacation.

Tollywood films failing to match Baahubali in this aspect

0

That SS Rajamouli’s behemoth Baahubali has set a benchmark not only for box office records, but also regarding pan-India promotions is an undeniable fact. The aggressive and unprecedented publicity campaign all over the country has played a pivotal role in the massive box office success of the two parts. Also, it has set a precedent for South India filmdom on how to market regional films in North belt. Moreover the colossal success of Baahubali has instilled the courage and confidence in Telugu filmmakers to try their hand at pan-India films with astronomical budgets.

Films like Saaho and SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy have managed to mimic Baahubali in terms of budget and making. But, they have failed to handle pan-India promotions which was the key strategy for Baahubali. Saaho team couldn’t chalk out the right strategy to build up hype in North audience. They failed in marketing the film beyond Telugu states. However, the stardom of Prabhas has ensured that the film opened on a strong note in North India.

Now, the same mistake is being repeated for SyeRaa as well. It is a prestigious film for Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Trade circles are hoping that SyeRaa will ride on the coattails of Saaho and open to packed houses in North India. But, the poor promotions are likely to impact the openings to some extent. Not only just the hefty budget, but Telugu big ticket releases should make sure that the promotions are also on par with that of Baahubali.

Charan advised Sye Raa writer to hold on until the release?

0

Every technician and creative fella associated with upcoming magnum opus Sye Raa is pretty excited about the film and their work, that they want to talk about it big time right away.

Already people associated with VFX of the film and art department are giving interviews to various magazines and media. But there is no trouble with them, however, this dialogue writer is advised not to entertain any such media meets. An interesting talk is doing rounds that dialogue writer Sai Madhav Burra got a notice from Sye Raa producer Ram Charan to avoid interacting with media folks until the film’s release.

This is because, when the talented writer who wrote dialogues for Sye Raa spoke to a news daily, he actually revealed a couple of one-liners Megastar Chiru mouthed in the film. As Charan wants to contain the excitement around the movie until the release, snippets about VFX and artworks only create more hype, but revealing dialogues might kill the pleasure, he is said to have felt.

For the very same reason, a message is delivered to Burra to avoid interviews for some time, a source revealed.

42 sets erected for Syeraa

0

Freedom fighter Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy happens to be the head for 64 villages and every village has its own story. Every village has its own beauty and the artwork defines the specialty of the village. The makers erected 42 massive sets to narrate the story of these villages. Airport and Jagannadha Konda sets are the major highlights said the film’s art director Rajeevan. He worked with Surendar Reddy for Dhruva and had great sync with the talented director. This is the reason why Surendar Reddy wanted him on board for Syeraa.

Designing Syeraa sets and the look of Megastar turned out to be quite difficult as they had limited information and references from the history. Rajeevan said that they took ample time to recreate the history and design the characters and their looks. “I formed a team and started the pre-production work in March 2017. We prepared the sketches of the major characters and then started finalizing the designs for their costumes. 15,000 pairs of costumes have been stitched by 22 tailors in a time span of five months” said Rajeevan while speaking to a leading daily.

“The silk material which was used by the Britishers was bought and their clothes were specially designed. Technology has changed vastly over the past two decades. The sets should look realistic to bring soul to a periodic drama. We shot several war episodes in Georgia as we needed 1500 British troops. We shot there for 28 days and we prepared 200 dummy rifles for the war sequences. All the weapons are specially designed by my team and the makers spent massive money on these minute things. The money spent on rifles and weapons is equal to the budget of 2-3 small films” concluded Rajeevan.

Syeraa is hitting the screens on October 2nd and is made on a budget of Rs 200 crores. Konidela Production Company produced this periodic drama and Chiranjeevi essays the role of freedom fighter Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy in Syeraa.

Mega Fans worried about Syeraa Promotions

0

With just three weeks left for the release of Syeraa, the makers are yet to kick-start the promotions of this periodic drama which is getting a pan-Indian release. The makers haven’t made any official announcements about the events or the trailer release date which are speculated across social media circles. A film like Syeraa needs to be promoted on a lavish scale as they are the key to get decent openings across the neighboring languages.

Mega fans took social media to troll the film’s producer Ram Charan asking him to kick-start the promotions for Syeraa. There are speculations that Megastar Chiranjeevi will be in Mumbai and in the North to promote Syeraa for a week. Several events are planned and a Mumbai based PR team is planning the schedules. He will be promoting in all the South Indian states for a week. It’s high time for the makers to plan innovative promotions and release interesting stuff before the fans lose their patience.

Surendar Reddy directed Syeraa and Konidela Production Company produced the film. Syeraa releases on October 2nd across the globe.

WAR poses a threat to SyeRaa in North India

0

After Saaho, it is Megastar Chiranjeevi’s patriotic drama SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy which is billed as the next pan-India film. With the presence of Bollywood stars like Amithab Bachchan, SyeRaa is expected to garner good attention of Hindi audience. The impressive box office run of Saaho in North India has cheered up the buyers of SyeRaa and they are very upbeat that the film will open strongly in all territories. But, SyeRaa might face a huge threat in North India from Hrithik Roshan’s WAR.

WAR is one of the highly anticipated films of Bollywood this season. The breathtaking trailers have build a solid hype and it is going to have a massive release all over the country. As many as 4500 screens have been finalized for WAR release. Due to the wide release of WAR, SyeRaa might get very low screen count in North. It is a known fact that SyeRaa will be released through AA films in Hindi. Despite their efforts, the exhibitors in North are not willing to accommodate screens for SyeRaa as they are betting big on WAR. They are refusing to allow even 20-30 percent screens for SyeRaa.

SyeRaa is made on a whopping budget and the makers have pinned a lot of hopes on Hindi openings. They are optimistic that SyeRaa will repeat what Saaho did in Hindi belt in the first weekend. But, the huge release of WAR might impact the openings of SyeRaa to a large extent than expected. This is going to be a huge setback and might ruin the trade prospects of SyeRaa.

Directed by Surender Reddy, SyeRaa narrates the story of unsung freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. Ram Charan produced the film on Konidela Productions banner.

Two action sequences in Syeraa will be stupefying

0

It’s just three weeks away and the euphoria already started engulfing audiences as they are eagerly waiting for magnum opus Syeraa. Featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead, the film is hitting cinemas on October 2nd.

As the final visual effects output from various studios and facilities across the globe is reaching Hyderabad, the news is coming out that the film has almost ten action sequences. Composed by foreign action directors, the film’s war sequences, horse racings and gunfights have turned quite exciting as Uyyalwada Narasimha Reddy and his rebel army takes on British company’s armed men.

Especially, out of them, two action sequences in the film are said to be completely breathtaking and the first of them comes right before the interval. That is none other than underwater action sequence about which Telugu360 mentioned earlier and the final output is said to be stunning. Another sequence that turns up at pre-climax is a goosebump-inducing one, despite the fact that Uyyalawada is losing in that war.

These two stupefying action sequences are going to be an icing on the cake for the kind of experience Syeraa will be giving on a whole, say, insiders. October 2nd, come soon!!

SyeRaa : It’s a safe bet for buyers in overseas

0

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s SyeRaa, which is gearing up for release on October 2nd, is doing tremendous business in all territories. Telugu360 already reported that the film has been sold for staggering prices next to Baahubali in both Telugu states. Now, it is exclusively learnt that the overseas rights have been snapped by Phars Films for 18 Crores.

As per trade estimates, SyeRaa need to recover around 12-13 Crores from North America to be termed as a safe venture in overseas. The breakeven mark in USA is going to be close to $ 3.3 M. Considering the strong hype surrounding the film and Chiru’s craze among overseas audience, it is going to be a safe bet for buyers. As films like Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu breached the $ 3.5 M mark with positive talk and decent reviews, all SyeRaa need is a good word of mouth from premiers to enter the profit zone. Chiranjeevi’s previous film Khaidi No 150 collected more than $ 2.5 M in USA.

Directed by Surender Reddy, SyeRaa is carrying huge buzz in audience and trade circles. Made on a whopping budget, the film features an ensemble cast from Bollywood and South India. Ram Charan has produced the film on Konidela Productions.

Syeraa : Ratnavelu and Surender Reddy in perfect sync

0

Ratnavelu is undoubtedly one of the top lensmen of the country and his cinematography work in films like Robo, Rangasthalam and 1-Nenokkadine received critical acclaim. For the first time, he is working with Surender Reddy for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s magnum opus Syeraa. He earlier worked with Megastar for Khaidi No 150 and he is well bonded with the team of the film.

Ratnavelu while talking to a media house revealed that he was in perfect sync with Syeraa director Surender Reddy. “Our hard work will be clearly visible on screen. Me and Surender Reddy have been in perfect sync. It is the director’s vision that the cinematographer carries it bringing life for the project. If the director is egoless, the output would be perfect” said Ratnavelu.

He even said that Surender Reddy and his team have done enough homework for the film before starting the shoot. Syeraa is hitting the screens on October 2nd and is produced by Ram Charan.

No clarity on SyeRaa overseas release

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ambitious patriotic drama SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy is getting ready for release on October 2nd. This much awaited film is creating ripples in domestic market with stunning pre release business in Telugu states. However, the overseas business is a matter of concern for the makers as there are no buyers.

SyeRaa makers have pegged the overseas rights initially at 25 Crores considering its high budget and solid craze. But, no distributor came forward to snap the rights. Even at 20 Crores, they couldn’t close the deal. Renowned overseas distribution house Phars Films has offered 15 Crores for rights. But producer Ram Charan is not willing to close the deal at that price. He is looking for better offers. As the release date is fast approaching and prior planning is required for getting a wide release in overseas, the makers of SyeRaa should plan judiciously to get a good release there.

Ram Charan is still in a dilemma regarding the overseas rights. SyeRaa being a prestigious and big budget project, Charan cannot wait too long and mess up with the premiers. They need to finalize the deal well in advance to get good number of screens in overseas. Will they wake up and make sure that the film gets solid openings in overseas ? We have to wait and see.
