Telangana is Being Pushed into Past : Prof Ilaiah

0

Noted political thinker of contemporary India, Kancha Ilaiah took strong objection to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao touching the feet of President Pranab Mukherjee and Governor ESL Narasimhan. He says as chief minister he is not supposed to do that. Between 1956 and2014, no chief minister had ever displayed this type obeisance  to other constitutional authority in public and in an official program. This, Prof Ilaiah says, is insult to the people of Telangana. In a recent critique, he said Telangana, instead becoming a Bangaru Telangana, is getting transformed into Vaishnavandhra Pradesh. While his radical line against Hindu society has earned him numerous followers across India at the same he was severely chastised by right wing forces. Vishwa Hindu Parishat has filed a case against him for his article “Devudu Prajaswamya vadi avuna kaada? (Is God A Democrat or Not). Following are the parts of his interview given to teludu360.com.

Why do you disagree with chief minister KCR touching the feet of the President and the Governor?

As a private individual he has every right to do what he fancies within the four wall of gadi. As a public authority representing four crore population that consists not only of Hindus, but also Muslims, Christians and others, he is not supposed to do. There is a caste angle to the issue. Would he have paid this obeisance had the President and Governor been dalits?  Telangana is formed after a protracted agitation. Every agitation should lead the society on progressive path. Unfortunately present day rulers are trying to push the state into past by spending hundreds of crore of rupees of tax payers’ money on temples. Allocation of Rs 100 crore to temples in a state where poverty is ubiquitous is unpardonable.

Why is this happening?

The basic issue is the nature of the leadership of Telangana movement right from the beginning in 1969.All the leaders from Marri Chenna Reddy to KCR represent the feudal class and culture. Under their leadership, not only has the T-movement robed the people of their rationality engendered by their association with great Telangana armed struggle and other peasant movements. The basic deficiency of Telangana movement was its lacking in progressive element. It was a general mass mobilization by feudal forces. Political movements carry reforms and lead to transformation of society. Telangana agitation was not a radical reform movement. So, the Telangana state, though achieved after decades long mass mobilization, is like any other state with regressive, backward thinking.  The leadership deployed the rituals of bygone eras into the movement and now they want people to practice them. There is a gaping hole of irrationality in the idea of Telangana. This space is now being occupied by seers and Babas.Chinna Jeeyer Swamy is one such  seer. Having adopted by Velamas, state is sponsoring his campaign in developing Vaishnva cult. This is not without any meaning. The Gods being promoted in Telangana are Kshatriyas. This cult suits the ‘power and sex’ politics of our times. See the language the chief minister uses against those who oppose him. It reeks of feudal dominance.

What would be the future of Telangana?

The greatest loss to Telangana after bifurcation is its severance of connection with the sea-coast. In India all land-locked states such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttara Pradesh are bimaru states. Sea-coast is the gateway to outer world. T-State has to suffer to this extent. If the efforts to Vaishnavize the state with the help of seers were to continue, Telangana society is bound to suffer. Take the case of Gandhiji. Though a believer in Hinduism, Gandhiji had never visited any temple during nationalist movement. This helped spread of modern education in those days. National movement reformed the society in every conceivable way. Freedom fighters never destroyed the education. Telangana movement by closing colleges and schools had destroyed the education, especially of the poor.  Present rulers are more eager to finance the Hindu Temples rather promoting the education, modernity and scientific ideas. These trends will hurt the progress of T-society in long run.

Why is it that there has been no opposition from Telangana intellectuals?

The Telangana intellectuals in the past ten years have become part and parcel of the movement that was not progressive. It is true, the movement has resulted in realization of statehood. Though Telangana state is formed, it is full of feudal values, regressive ideas and anti-poor ideologies. We can’t expect more from it. Now, they have to come out and halt the state from being driven backwards.

Is Kadiam Another Rajaiah in the Making ?

0

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari’s honeymoon with chief minister KCR appears to be over. The talk in the TRS circles is that he is another ‘Rajaiah’ in the making. Very soon, Srihari either will be eased out or marginalized in the cabinet.

For starters, Dr T Rajaiah is dalit MLA from Station Ghanpur, Warangal district. Earlier he represented same constituency as Congress leader. A vocal leader and a doctor by profession, he quit Congress to join TRS and won the seat. He   was made health minister and deputy chief minister by KCR. But it took exactly six months to fall from the grace of TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao. After a couple warnings, for announcing important decisions about setting up of health university in Warangal,  following serious allegations of corruption in the purchase of 285 ambulances, on January 25, chief minister sacked Rajaiah. And within hours, Kadiam Srihari, another Madiga MP, was inducted into cabinet and named deputy chief minister.

In exactly six months after his swearing-in, Srihari has become a target because of his alleged “danda” (collection spree) in according JNTU affiliations to private engineering colleges. The primary charge against the deputy chief minister is that he colluded with “Andhra” professors in the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) to deny affiliation to Telangana colleges while favoring colleges owned by Andhras.

The Charges against Andhras in JNTU-H

The Andhra clique in JNTU-H denied affiliation to T-Colleges, even though they had fulfilled conditions up to 98 per cent with regard to faculty, labs and equipment. Without physical verification, refusing to take oral presentations, the clique passed favorable orders on their whims. Highly critical of this attitude, KVK Rao, representative of Private Engineering Colleges Association, dared JNTU-H to prove that the 25 engineering colleges which were denied affiliation, had not fulfilled the conditions. According to the complaints against the Andhra lobby in the JNTU-H, the university’s guest house stands witness to the midnight collection drama. “On June 28 midnight a list of 64 colleges was posted in website. The list was removed before 6 AM next morning. The list, its subsequent removal and denial of affiliation to colleges is indicative of charge of danda (collection spree),” said Namaste Telangana, a newspaper owned by chief minister KCRs family.

In fact, the JNTU-H is administered by in-charge vice-chancellor, Sailaja Ramaiyer, an upright officer in state government.

Campaign against Kadiaym

The paper made serious charges against deputy CM without attributing to anybody. It says the guest house danda (collection spree) has been done with full knowledge of deputy chief minister Kadaiam Srihari.

Similarly the deputy chief minister boasted with private engineering collages representatives that he would not pay heed to anybody in the matter of affiliations.

According to the newspaper, one official has been entrusted with the work of helping colleges recommended by T-Congress, while another is made in-charge of ‘collections’.

CM’s paper reported this and CM’s office took cognizance of the report and sought reports from vice-chancellor.

Congress’ reference in the complaints might be pointer to Ramaiyer’s husband D Sridhar Babu, a Congrerss leader and former minister.

The campaign by Namaste Telangana against deputy CM is being seen as the end of the road for Kadiam.

Is there any message in Chief Minister KCR’s announcement that Koppual Eswar (Dalit MLA from Dharmapuri) would be taken into cabinet, given this background?

I’m Like Like Bullet-proof Vest for Seemandhras

0

Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender today clarified that he would not leave the Congress. Talking to media he said whatever being talked about was all speculation. “There appears to be some conspiracy behind these news about by possible crossing over to TRS,” he said adding that some leaders were trying to smoke me out of Congress.

Danam said the TRS government should not create a scare among the Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad. “You (KCR) are asking AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to vacate Hyderabad. If you ask a chief minister to leave Hyderabad, how would you create confidence among Seemandhras living in Hyderabad,” he asked.   He said he would work to protect  interests of Seemandhra people like a bullet-proof jacket.

He alleged that GHMC officials were removing the names of Seemandhras from voter-list.

He appealed to Seemandhra people to take a stand against  the TRS government during GHMC elecctions. “You have voted out Congress for dividing the state. Then what about your stand on the TRS style of functioning,” he asked the Seemandhras living in Hyderabad.

Danam announced that he would take up padayatra in Hyderabad on the city’s civic problems.

He heckled CM KCR for pinning great hopes on GHMC elections.

“He will get disappointed,” he said.

He said he would tour across Telangana for the unity among the leaders of the party

Danam said chief minister KCR, instead of concentrating on the implementation of election manifesto, making tall claims. He should better reward first those students who fought heroically for the separate state.

On DS joining TRS, he remarked that DS would not enjoy the respect he commanded in Congress.

Naidu pumping Bad Money into Horse-trading

0

Opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wondered how TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu clings to the post of chief minister despite his direct involvement in the cash-for-vote scam. Jagan worked more hard than any TRS leader to get Naidu implicated in the cash for vote scam as accused number 1 or 2. He rushed to New Delhi, met President Pranab Mukhejee and Home Miniser Rajnath Singh and submitted memoranda to this effect. He also demanded a high level inquiry by a central agency.

However, both parties in the cash-for-vote scam seems to be withdrawing slowly from the warpath. So, Jagan has chosen to tour Andhra Pradesh. The opposition leader is in Kakinada on Odarpu Yatra to console the families of those fishermen who died recently in cyclone. Jagan accused chief minister of spending the ill-gotten wealth for horse trading in Telangana State.

He said the fiver crore offer to a Telangana nominated MLA was stands testimony to the money politics Naidu was going to unleash in Andhra and Telangana. “It is unprecedented in the history of the country for a Chief Minister to involve directly in a bribery case involving crores of rupees to buy a vote of an MLA,” he said.“I fail to understand,” he said, “though there were audio visual proofs of the involvement of Chandrababu Naidu in the scam, as to why he is not being arrested and Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to continue as Chief Minister,” he said. “Chandrababu Naidu has preached morals and ethics and demanded for the recall of the Governor. When he and his follower were caught on the video tape the tune suddenly has changed. He has no moral right to continue in the office,” Jagan said. (jnr)

Who Will Benefit From KCR’s Killing-Spree?

0

It is confirmed that senior Congress leader D Srinivas is joining TRS purportedly to help chief minister KCR, who , he said, was working hard to build “Bangaru Telangana”. Along with  Srinivas, many more second-rung leaders are expected to join the TRS.

Apart from Greater Hyderabad Congress leader Danam Nagender and former MLA Nandeswar Goud, several district Congress presidents are expected join the TRS. Names of few more Congress leaders such as former minister Sudarshan Reddy also are being talked about.

Now the question is who will benefit from the KCR’s continued killing-spree?

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been poaching on MLAs from the opposition parties ever though he has enough strength in Assembly, probably with the hope that removal of leaders from the parties would destroy them and make TRS only  dominant party in the New Telangana state.

Branding as Andhra Party first he wanted to weaken the Telugu Desam party which had a strength of twenty MLAs in Assembly when it was formed in 2014 . Now, he finds Congress as the soft target, whose leaders, having lost power both at the centre and state, can easily be lured.

Observers consider the KCR”s poaching of Congress leaders will help TDP more rather than TRS. Liquidation of Congress from Telangana will pave the path for a direct confrontation with TDP. A multi-corner contest in general elections in 2019 will benefit TRS more as the anti-incumbency factor and anti-TRS forces would get divided between Congress and TDP. In the absence of strong Congress, anti-incumbency get consolidated under TDP.

Saner elements see suicidal element in KCR’s poaching of Congress leaders. “Congress is not an enemy party. He may need Congress in future. If he destroys Congress, he has to face a tough fight from Telugu Desam party, which has enough money and muscle power to meet the challenge posed by the TRS,” said a Congress leader. As the grand old party of India and as the party that pushed T-bill, Congress has its own base.

EC to Crack Whip Against TDP?

0

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a major jolt to Telugu Desam Party, the Election Commission of India shifted its focus to the ongoing infamous cash-for-vote scam. EC on Thursday filed a memo in the ACB Court in Hyderabad seeking duplicate copy of the report submitted by FSL.

It may be noted that FSL on Wednesday submitted a preliminary report on the audio that’s alleged to be of Chandrababu Naidu. If ascertained that the voice is that of Chandrababu Naidu, TDP supremo might have to face legal consequences. It has to be mentioned here that cash-for-vote scam came to light when ACB sleuths apprehended TDP MLA Revant Reddy. The same night, media released the footage of the sting operation that showed Revant Reddy promising five crore rupees to nominated MLA to Telangana assembly, Stephenson, in case he votes for TDP candidate in MLC elections.

Days after that sting operation went viral, vernacular media aired the audio tapes that allegedly contained conversation between Chandrababu and Stephenson. While TDP said that the audio was fabricated and also said that the phones were tapped, Telangana Government stressed that telephone lines were not fabricated.  Now that Election Commission has also plunged into this activity, it might take an action against Chandrababu Naidu only if it’s proved that the voice in the audio is that of Chandrababu. The experts said that the action could be banning the political party or its supremo from contesting elections and exercising his vote.

Notably, Election Commission earlier took such strong decisions and Shiv Sena’s Bal Thackeray can be cited as an example as he was banned from exercising his vote for a period of six years for proving guilty in a communal violence case. How and when Election Commission is going to crack its whip against TDP has now become the talk of the town.

KCR Names Discoms After T-Gods

0

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appears to be seeking godly intervention to bail out the state from the acute power shortage. He rechristened the names of power distribution companies (Discoms) after Gods of the region. Normally, Discoms are named after cardinal or ordinal directions of the region they serve. The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited has become Yadagiri Lakshminarasimha Swamy Power Distribution Company Limited and the Northern Discom as Sri Rajarajeswari Power Distribution Company Limited. Great believer in Godly interventions and Vastu effects, KCR must be seeking the blessings of the presiding deities of Telangana to fulfil the daunting task of providing nine-hour uninterrupted power supply to farm sector. Following the bifurcation of the state, Telangana inherited acute power shortage which forced it to scurry around for the purchase of power. His target is to provide nine-hour supply from next year. As Kharif is going to take off,KCR reviewed power status in the state. It is in this meeting he said he was renaming the Discoms after the Gods of Telangana.

Tension Builds Up in Andhra and Telangana Over Section-8

0

As expected, the political situation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has turned volatile following report of purported legal clarification by attorney-general Mukul Rohatgi to Governor ESL Narasimhan that he could monitor the cash-for-vote scandal. While pressure is mounting on KCR to rush to Delhi to oppose any such move by centre and to sit on fast, if necessary, to scuttle move in tracks, cabinet ministers from Andhra Pradesh urged chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to put pressure to implement the section 8 of AP Reorganization Act-2014. Tuesday saw intense activity in TDP and TRS camps both supporting the view and opposing it vehemently. While Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met the governor to know the veracity of the media report about the centre’s decision. TRS circles claim that Rao had opposed any change in the status quo in the name of empowering the Raj Bhavan with Section 8 of AP Reorganization Act-2014. All the JACs have clarified that they would oppose the invoking section 8. While TJAC chairman Kodandaraom said they would not allow the empowering Raj Bhavan with special powers. While admitting that there was no clarity on the matter, Kodandaram said, resorting to Section 8 means usurping the powers of state. He said Governor would have to take the opinion of the Telangana Government on the matter.

NGO’s leader Devi Prasad said they would not hesitate to launch an agitation to oppose the move. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav also opposed the idea of invoking the controversial provisions of bifurcation Act. Rajya Sabha members K Kesava Rao said there was no confirmation from the centre on the NDTV report on empowering the Raj Bhavan with special monitoring powers. Even CPM joined chorus. T-state CPM secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said there was clear evidence for the involvement of Chandrababu Naidu in the cash-for-vote case. On the other side of the border ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Pratipati Pulla Rao, Ravela Kishore Babu and P Narayana met chief minister Naidu and requested him to pressure on centre for the implementation of Section 8 of bifurcation Act. Similarly, minister Kamineni Srinivas and Deveneni Umamaheswar Rao also demanded the centre to authorize Governor to monitor all the cases under investigation. Talking to media, finance minister Yanamala said Telangana should not scuttle implementation of constitutional provisions. The ministers said Hyderabad had become insecure in TRS regime and only way for the protection of people was the invocation of Section 8. “TRS government is seizing the properties of institutes listed in schedule 9 and 10 of the Act which is illegal. Now phones of government functionaries have been tapped. Tomorrow attacks on properties of AP people cannot be ruled out,” they said. Meanwhile, there is even talk among the TDP circles that CM Naidu may go to New Delhi to exert pressure on the centre for the implementation of Section-8.

Did Centre Ask Governor to Monitor Cash-for-vote Scam ? More Details

0

In what could be a politically inflammable action, Centre is said to have asked governor ESL Narasimhan to monitor the probe being done by Telangana ACB into the cash-for-vote scam.

ESL Narasimhan is the joint governor Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. At a time when Andhra Pradesh is insisting on investing of special powers enshrined in the Section 8 of Andhra Pradesh reorganization Act-2014 with governor and Telangana resisting it tooth and nail, any such directive from the Centre to the governor would make the political situation explosive in the two states.

The sensational news is carried by English news channel NDTV this afternoon.

[pullquote position=”left”]Raj Bhavan sources neither denied nor confirmed the reports and governments of  AP and Telangana chose not to react officially[/pullquote]

According to NDTV, Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi has advised governor Narasimhan to intervene in the dispute that arose between AP and TS out of a sting-operation into the cash-for-vote scam. The sting led to the arrest of TDP MLA Revanth Reddy.  Entrusting the responsibility of monitoring the case to governor means implementing the section 8 of Act. NDTV says governor Narasimhan had sought legal advice from the attorney-general and the latter advised the former to take control of the probe. It was a oral advice.

“The Governor has special powers under the Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, since the two states share the capital, Hyderabad, and two different police forces have jurisdiction in the city,” Rohatgi advised the Governor, according to NDTV.

Talking to Telugu360.com from New Delhi, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar expressed doubts about such instructions having come to governor from New Delhi.

“Its true governor can be instructed by the centre. Similarly, attorney-general can legally guide the centre and governor. But, as far as my knowledge goes, there have been no such orders from the centre,” Vinod said. But he did not deny the report flatly.

Raj Bhavan sources neither denied nor confirmed the reports and governments of  AP and Telangana chose not to react officially.

However, notwithstanding the reports of a patch up , AP and Telangana governments continued their efforts to gather solid evidence to prove their allegations against each other in the cash-for-vote scam and phone tapping issue.

AP CID police have reportedly summoned Telecom service providers to inquire into the phone tapping issue at Bhavanipuram Police Station in Vijayawada far away from insecure Hyderabad.

AP police had reportedly instructed them not to erase  call data of some important phone numbers that were allegedly tapped  in the past six months.

On other side,  AP DGP JV Ramudu held a meeting with the members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the phone-tapping issue in Hyderabad.

Cash-for-Vote: Investigation Underway as Per Law

0

Telangana state’s director general of police (DGP) Anurag Sharma has said that the investigation into the infamous cash-for-vote scam was going as per the law. Speaking to the media at Warangal, Anurag Sharma has mentioned that the forensic report-to ascertain the voice in audio tapes that were recently telecast on media-will reach the ACB in next two days. He has even mentioned that ACB will take care of the investigation.

It may be recalled that the Telangana police came under heavy criticism from TDP folks after Revant Reddy was arrested red-handedly by ACB. There were even allegations that the investigation was not being done as per the protocol. DGP today clarified on the same.

AP to Roll Out New Liquor Policy

0

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ndhra Pradesh Government is all set to release liquor policy today. In a note released to the press, the government has said that it decided to handle at least 10 per cent of liquor shops while 90 per cent will be handled by the liquor vendors who obtained licences.  The government, however, didn’t release the list of liquor shop owners. In its new liquor policy, liquor vendors will be refrained from the use of names pertaining to religious figures and Gods.

[pullquote position=”left”] Hailing Chandrababu Naidu, Balakrishna has stressed that only Babu has the capacity to run the efficient government. [/pullquote]

It is known that there were severe objections from the public over the use of Goddesses names and photos on liquor shops. On noticing the same, the government came out with this stringent regulations, said sources close to the officials. Meanwhile, TDP MLA Balakrishna has drawn curtains on the speculations. He put an end to the rumours that were rife over the change of chief minister and that Balakrishna would become the next Panneerselvam in Andhra Pradesh, given the ongoing infamous cash-for-vote scam that allegedly kept Babu in bad light.

Hailing Chandrababu Naidu, Balakrishna has stressed that only Babu has the capacity to run the efficient government. He was, however, tightlipped on the liquor policy as it’s known how his father, the then chief minister N.T. Rama Rao became a Godly figure amongst households for having banned liquor in Andhra Pradesh during his tenure.

Even KCR, who apparently idolised NTR, is bringing in new liquor policies in Telangana state that are undoubtedly objectionable to households. All in all, it looks like Telugu chief ministers are more concerned over the revenue generated by liquor shops.

Scribes in Telangana Protest Against Notices to T News

0

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith Andhra Pradesh police serving notices on a vernacular news channel, T News, journalists across Telangana state staged protests and held demonstrations against the act alleging that it was an attempt to curb the freedom of press.

Notably, the Andhra Pradesh police-in its notice- stated that the news channel, T News, disturbed the public tranquility by telecasting Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged telephonic conversation with Telangana’s nominated MLA, Elvis Stephenson. It may be noted that the police served notices based on complaint of an advocate from Vizag. The notice went on to mention that the programme that was aired on June 7 night affected the maintenance of public order, which violated Section-5 of Cable TV News Network Act. It may be recalled that T News had telecast the audio conversation between Babu and Stephenson shortly after the arrest of TDP MLA from Telangana region, Revanth Reddy.

[pullquote position=”left”] Indian Journalists Union’s (IJU) secretary general, Devulapalli Amar condemned the incident and said that none in the world has the authority to question the media of its sources. [/pullquote]

Is Cable TV News Network Act Applicable to TV Channel?

The matter that is being widely debated amongst journalists’ circle today is—whether Cable TV News Network Act can be slapped against a television channel, as the legal experts are of the opinion that this act shall be invoke only against cable television operation and that T News was a cable television operator but a news channel.

What are the possible sections that can be invoked?

The legal experts said that it would have been better and significant in case the following sections were invoked—IPC Sec499 (defamation), IPC Sec502 and IPC Sec120B (criminal conspiracy). They were apparently puzzled as to why these chose Cable TV Network Act. Was it an attempt that would presumably make KCR to strike a compromise deal with Babu, they questioned among themselves.

Attack on the media?

The journalists in Telangana region reacted vehemently to the notices that were served by the police against T News. A large number of scribes gathered outside the DGP office of AP Police in Hyderabad. The sources said that nearly 100 journalists were already taken into the custody.  Meanwhile, the Indian Journalists’ Union (IJU) secretary general, Devulapalli Amar condemned the incident and said that none in the world has the authority to question the media of its sources. Serving notices to media is an attempt to curb press freedom, he added.

BJP Jumps into Defence:

Telangana BJP president and MLA, Kishan Reddy has responded to the notices served on T news. He has said that BJP was not against the freedom of press. He, however, criticised KCR and Chandrababu Naidu for indulging in political war.

It now looks like Chandrababu Naidu purportedly crossed swords with freedom of the press. How these cases can curtain press freedom is still a debatable issue.

AP Police Slap Notice on T-News

0

Andhra Pradesh police slapped a notice on T News, a news channel owned by the family members of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The copy of the notice has been delivered to Narayana Reddy CEO of the channel last midnight. The notice, delivered by Vizag ACP Ramana, was served under Section 19 of The Cable Television Network (Regularion) Act-1995. The Section deals with Powers to prohibit transmission of certain programs in public interest. When invoked, the act authorizes the officials to prohibit any cable operator from transmitting any program which is not in conformity with prescribed program code and is likely to promote disharmony or feelings of enmity or ill-will between different religious, racial, linguistic and regional groups. The notice, citing a program transmitted at 8.30 PM on June 7, 2015, said the transmission, which carried a purported conversation between AP Chief Minister Naidu and Telangana MLA Elvis Stephenson, had the potential to create hatred among the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangan. The AP police sought an explanation from T news in three days. Meanwhile, the Channel described the police act as an indirect declaration of war on Telangana. Journalists across the TS have condemned the Andhra Police move as undemocratic.

Naidu Looks Like a Burglar Caught in the Hole

0

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]oes chief minister Chandrababu Naidu look like a burglar who got caught while in hole he made in the wall. “Yes, he does”, says BV Raghavulu, politburo member of CPM.The veteran CPM leader said Naidu should first clarify to the people if the voice  recorded in the audio was his or not.

“He looks like a thief who was caught in the hole he himself made in the wall to burgle a house”, he said.

Speaking to telugu360.com from Tirupati, where he was attending a seminar on the ‘corporatization of politics’, Raghuvulu wondered how Naidu evades a straight question about his role in the attempt to buy an MLA’s vote in Telangana. “His voice is there for verification. His representatives were caught red-handed while offering money to nominated MLA Elvis.  Instead of denying the episode in clear terms, Naiduy is  talking everything other than replying the main question,” Raghavulu said.

Raghavulu was critical of Naidu’s attempt to distract people’s attention from the cash-for-vote scam with a counter charge of Telephone tapping against the Telangana government.

“If he is so sure of his telephone having been tapped, and he has enough proof, why didn’t his government file a case in the court? He should at least  come before the media with proof. It is again a ploy to divert people’s attention and an attempt to cover up his tarnished face,” he said. Dubbing the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh as the corporate capital, the former CPM state secretary said Amaravathi would become another Hyderabad with all development getting concentrated in the city.  This may lead to unrest in the long run in  other regions, he added.

Raghavulu was equally critical of TRS chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. According to the CPM veteran, Rao was trying to get cheap mileage out of the case to gloss over his failures in Telangana state.

“Bifurcation has brought about many problems. Water sharing is a problem. Division assets of RTC and power sector has been pending.  Instead of concentrating on these issues, both chief ministers are indulging political one-upmanship. They will soon face the wrath of the people,” he warned.

TDP Uses Brahmastram Against Governor, Repents Later

0

As cash-for-vote scam involving TDP legislator from Telangana region is intensifying with ACB reportedly getting a letter from the election commission asking its sleuths for a stringent probe, TDP leaders are trying to use all their brahmastrams.

It is known that TDP folks recently brought in section eight of AP Reorganisation Act into the picture. As Governor ESL Narasimhan is not responding despite TDP supremo Chandrababu meeting him time and again over the implementation of governor’s law and order in Hyderabad, the party leaders chose to target ESL Narasimhan, the constitutional head of the state.

TDP senior leader Acham Naidu recently, in a press meet, addressed the governor as ‘you’ (without a pinch of respect) and said that he was acting as a ‘gangireddu’ (meaning a bull). Lashing out at governor, Acham Naidu said why governor was tight lipped when KCR said that Andhra Pradesh police cannot execute their duties in Hyderabad.

Centre Serious:

The Centre, which noticed these severe objectionable comments made by Acham Naidu against the governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, has reportedly warned AP chief secretary that TDP leaders were launching verbal attacks against the governor.

Acham Naidu Apologizes and Withdraws:

After learning that Centre expressed its serious concerns over derogatory comments he made against governor, Acham Naidu spoke to the media and said that he was apologetic about the statements he made. He elucidated that he made those remarks only in agony after he looked at the situation of Andhra Pradesh. In case my statements had hurt governor, I withdraw them immediately, added Acham Naidu.

Need for Naidu to Control Leaders:

It is known that TDP leaders are speaking whatever they want that are sometimes lacking logic and sounding contradictory. Earlier, Parakala Prabhakar, who spoke about cash for vote scam has said that the voice in the audio tapes was not that of Chandrababu Naidu. Shortly, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the audio was fabricated.

Even as these leaders continue to make contradictory statements, TDP MLC Somireddy went a step ahead and said that TRS was obstructing the bail of Revant Reddy. How can a political party influence the court was the question then. He was allegedly trying to send wrong messages to people on courts, which was again a matter of serious concern,

This confusion among leaders must be curtained. It is high time for Chandrababu Naidu to bring in a proper code of conduct within the party. Verbal attacks on political leaders are at times acceptable as criticism, however, using the same policy for courts, constitutional heads and constitution is highly not acceptable.

The investigation of anti corruption bureau of Telangana state intensified as the officials served notices on TDP Telangana MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and former legislator Vem Narender Reddy last night.

While Sandra was not available at his residence last night, reports indicated that the bureau sleuths informed his family members that he needs to attend the interrogation in next 48 hours.

Later, the cops reached Vem’s residence at around 11.30 pm. Vem, who spoke to the media after ACB officials left the place, said that the officers requested him to go with them for an inquiry.

As I am a patient, I told them (ACB) that I would see them in the day time, added Vem Narender Reddy.
The sources said that ACB is likely to serve notices to over a dozen TDP leaders, including MP CM Ramesh.

More to follow.
