Mahesh Babu appreciates Venky Mama
For the first time, Victory Venkatesh and his nephew Naga Chaitanya worked together for Venky Mama. The family entertainer received a mixed response but the film registered massive numbers over the first weekend. Superstar Mahesh Babu who prefers to watch and appreciate good films watched Venky Mama in a special screening last night.
The actor took his official page to say “Venky Mama is a thorough entertainer. Really enjoyed every bit of it. Venkatesh garu and @chay_akkineni light up the screen with their Mama-Alludu chemistry. A perfect blend of emotions, comedy and family values. Congratulations to the entire team”. The film is directed by KS Ravindra (Bobby) and is produced by Suresh Productions, People Media Factory. Rashi Khanna and Payal Rajput are the leading ladies.

Venky Mama has a strong first weekend as the film has collected a distributor share of 16.65 Cr. After an excellent opening day the film has continued its strong run over the weekend. Collections in some of the areas on third day ie, Sunday are even higher than opening day. Real test for the film starts from today.

Venky Mama has a stronghold on second day as the film has collected a distributor share of 4.90 cr taking two days total to 11.20cr approx. The hold is nearly 90 percent of day one (considering worth shares) which is excellent. The film should collect another 5 cr today taking it past 16cr mark which makes it an excellent weekend.

Venky Mama has a very good opening in the Telugu States as the film has collected a distributor share of 6.25 Cr. This is the highest opening for both the heros as it more than Babu Bangaram (5.56 Cr) & Shailaja Reddy Alludu (5.45 Cr). The film is carrying decent reports among the audience and is expected to have a good weekend.

Story:
Venkataratnam Naidu (Venkatesh), a bigshot in his village raises his nephew Karthik (Naga Chaithanya) after an accident kills his sister and brother-in-law. Venky’s father Ram Narayana (Nassar) is superstitious and does not like Karthik because of ‘Sri Krishna Amsa’ in Karthik’s horoscope. This horoscope issue is a cause of constant conflict in Venky’s house but always stands by his nephew. Karthik and Venky live jolly life until Karthik joins army without Venky’s consent. Venky reaches Kashmir to find his whereabouts. Rest of the story reveals the reasons behind Karthik’s decision to join the army along with parallel love tracks for both the protagonists with Vennela (Payal) and Harika (Rashi Kanna).
Analysis:
Venky Mama is a typical rural backdrop story topped with venky’s unique mannerisms. First half has no high moments but offers adequate time pass with some humor here and there. Bonding scenes between Venky Mama and Karthik are good. The director banks heavily on Venkatesh’s image with scenes included to suit him, but this hurts Naga Chaitanya’s Karthik characterization.
Venky and Karthik support each other very well in life. Venky tries to find out Harika (Rashi Khanna) – Karthik(Chay) love story from past, Chay tries to find a suitable girl for his mama Venky. This particular thread gives some entertainment for the masses. While other songs are pretty average, two songs ‘Yennallako…’ , and ‘Coca Cola Pepsi ..’ are good on screen. Rao Ramesh ‘s villainy should have been more effective
In the second half, after the narration shifts from rural setup to army backdrop, things start to go haywire. The scenes showing the Indian army battle the neighboring country terrorist groups, Venky impersonating a dreaded terrorist leader etc.. are laughable. As good amount of budget was spent on these episodes, one would expect these scenes to be better scripted.
Performances:
Venkatesh carries this film on his shoulders as much as he could. The character suits his age, his vintage histrionics are put to good use. Naga Chaitanya has done decent work, but his character is not well contemplated in the script. Rashi Khanna as MLA’s daughter has done required job with no complaints. She is looking good in this film. Payal Rajput, as school teacher Vennela, has got routine track for village films. Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj and Nassar roles do not have not much scope to excel.

Verdict :
Venky Mama’s first half is watchable , second half goes haywire with over the top army episodes and old school sentiments. Venkatesh stands out with his performance in the first half, Naga Chaitanya’s characterization doesn’t give him much scope to perform.
Overall, Venky Mama aims at the rural audience and is a partial success at that.

Venky Mama, You’re Our Youth: Chay
Never seen before kind of promotional campaign is happening for Venky Mama as the film is very prestigious for Suresh Babu who’s making his father Ramanaidu’s dream coming true by making a multi-starrer with his family heroes- Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya.
K Raghavendra Rao who shares great rapport with Ramanaidu’s family has recalled his emotional journey with the legendary filmmaker and his family members.
Suresh Babu thanked Raghavendra Rao saying his family will always be indebted for giving several massive hits because of which they could survive all these years.
Bobby assured fans that it will be best birthday gift for Venkatesh. He recalled the day he went to attend an audition for Gangotri and gave the reason why he decided the same day never to act in films.
Venkatesh entertained fans by dancing on stage. Chay, Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput also joined him.
Rana said that his grandpa would’ve felt happy had he watched the film given that it was his dream for a multi-starrer from the family. He then proposed the possibility of a film- Venky Babai to his father Suresh Babu.
Naga Chaitanya thanked one and all for the overwhelming response for the film’s trailer. Praising his uncle, Chay said, “Venky Mama, you’re our youth.” He revealed how nervous he was ahead of the film’s release. “The project is our thathayya’s dream. He always wanted us to act together,” said he.
Venkatesh like always felt nervous speaking on the stage. He said that the film is releasing at the right time. “In my 33 years of career, a film is releasing on my birthday for the first time,” affirmed Venky.
Samantha left in awe with Venky Mama
Suresh Babu is one producer who takes everyone’s suggestions and is ready to correct his film once the post-production work of the film is done. His next project Venky Mama is carrying huge expectations and Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya are teaming up for the first time with this family entertainer. Like other audience and fans, Samantha Akkineni is curious about the film and is eager to watch it.
A special screening has been held for Samantha recently and Suresh Babu was expecting some changes and suggestions as he believes Samantha has good judgment. But the actress enjoyed the film thoroughly, especially the core emotional content that comes during the second half. Samantha is said to have been extremely impressed with the entire film. Venky Mama directed by KS Ravindra (Bobby) and is releasing this Friday.

Venky Mama is the first big ticket film releasing in December with high expectations as Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya are sharing screen space for the first time in a full-length multi starrer.
The recently released trailer has hiked prospects on the Bobby directorial.
Naga Chaitanya will be seen as a happy go lucky guy who later takes up army job and his love interest in the film is Raashi Khanna.
In the beachside romantic picture from the film, Chay looks young and charming in simple attire, while Raashi looks ravishing in a floral two piece midi dress.
Apparently, the magical romance between the young couple will entice youth.

A habit of Suresh Babu that irked Rana and Chaitu
Victory Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya are teaming up for a family entertainer titled Venky Mama. Rana Daggubati interviewed Naga Chaitanya as a part of the film’s promotions. In the short conversation, the duo discussed about various things. Rana and Chaitu discussed about the sincerity and dedication of Venkatesh and Suresh Babu.
Rana revealed that he was left uncomfortable during the shoot of Nene Raju Nene Mantri after he and his father Suresh Babu got their stay on the same floor in a hotel. Chaitu too reminded himself about a similar incident during Venky Mama shoot. He said that Suresh Babu is quite curious after the shoot and he checks into other rooms during the evenings to know what’s happening. Rana and Chaitanya discussed about this during the interview. Chaitu even revealed about the perfect planning of Suresh Babu because of which the shoot was wrapped up on time. He called Suresh Babu a perfectionist who works hard.
BUZZ: Kashmir episode to be highlight of Venky Mama
Venky Mama has already garnered good buzz, thanks to the fact that it stars Venkatesh Daggubati and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles. Promotions are in full swing for this family entertainer.
As said by Venky Mama team, the Kashmir episode is a big highlight of the film.
Apparently, a few key sequences in the film were shot in Kashmir over a period of 30 days. The movie unit shot in three places in Kashmir – Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg.
The entire crew had to travel around 16 kilometers on horses daily in order to shoot a few particular scenes in Sonamarg, which happens to be a hill station. The temperature often dropped down to -4 and -5 degrees, said the team.
The army episodes, featuring the lead cast, were shot in Kashmir. This particular episode will have a duration of 40 minutes in the film and is expected to give a new visual experience to the viewers.

Venky’s satire on Suresh Babu and Venky Mama
Victory Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya starrer Venky Mama is finally announced for December 13th release after a long wait. The makers arranged a special press meet today to reveal several details about the project. Venky started off his speech thanking God for finally locking the release date of the film. He soon thanked his brother Suresh Babu too for announcing the release date after a huge delay. “Oh Devuda..Chala thanks devuda… final ga December 13th Venky Mama release avutunnanduku. I was never tensed like this” said Venkatesh.
“Thank you Suresh Productions and thanks to my brother Suresh Babu” said Venky in a satirical way. Suresh Babu was all smiles after listening to Venky’s comments. Venky said that he is tensed as always on stage when several young actors are speaking with ease during the promotional events. “Venky Mama is a special film as I am working with my nephew Chaitu. All my family was asking about the role of Chaitu and we made sure he got the best role”. Directed by Bobby, the film features Payal Rajput and Rashi Khanna as the female leads.
